I went here with a friend. Plenty of parking and plenty of seating. It was busy when we went and everyone was enjoying their food. It had a nice vibe with table seats, booths and bar seating. The crab Rangoon was very good. I also had the general tso chicken. It was good and I would go back again.

Lunch special L37 Nime Chow and Beef Teriyaki
    Heidi S.

This is one of our go to places for Asian food. We especially like the lunch specials, and I love that they are available 7 days a week and not just Monday through Friday. On our most recent visit, my daughter and I both ordered lunch specials with fried rice, which is really good. We also got the wonton soup (included with the lunch special if you eat in), and it was delicious also. The chicken fingers were pretty small, but were fresh and crispy. Nime chow is excellent - the peanut sauce is perfect and there are slices of garlic in the sauce. Service here is pretty fast and I've never had any problems with my orders. The restaurant is clean and attractive with booth, table, or bar seating. I'm not a sushi eater, but my daughters like the sushi here. Definitely a good option for Asian food in Johnston.

French Crunchy Special Roll and Chirashi Sushi

Came here with a large group and you know what? The sushi was great. Best in the state? Well, not exactly. But the fish was fresh, the service was exceptionally great considering we had 10 people and we had a great time! The chirahashi was a nice dish for a "lighter" option, and when I say lighter, I really just mean I didn't want to fill up on all specialty rolls. Very healthy portion of fish over a bed of rice. I thought the pineapple and bamboo shoots had a bit of an odd flavor, but it was easily ignored. The French crunch roll was very good. A little softer texturally than I was expecting but I enjoyed it a lot. I tried a few other pieces of sushi from friends and honestly, all their specialty rolls were good. Give it a shot for sushi, especially if you need a large crowd accommodated.

Hei place is a go to for me if I want a larger amount of sushi at a good price. I highly recommend the Love boat and have yet to find a better Lychee martini in RI. Warning that they are stronger than they taste!

Udon Noodle Soup with 3 Tempura Shrimp

This place never disappoints. The crab Rangoons are deliciously filled with a creamy cream cheese and crab filling. The edamame has a hint of salt and steamed to perfection. Then the Udon noodle soup is great when flavored with a little Hoison sauce. Not to mention it is served with 3 fried shrimp. The service is pretty good as long as you come when it is not packed. Overall if you haven't been here you def need to try. I would give it a 4.5 but 4 is the closest.

Here's an interesting non-fiction anecdote. Once upon a time, two brothers invested over four million dollars into an antiquated pizza establishment in the heart of North Providence, on the bustling Mineral Spring Avenue. This fancy, shiny koi welcoming palace is known as Jacky's Galaxie. Unfortunately, these brothers clashed like two cymbals. One Chef brother split and decided to start his own enterprise. This new venture would be known as Hei Place. It shares ambiance, but is lacking something. The service is average. The food is hit or miss. The location is strategic. Overall, 3.75 with a round up for posterity. Bon appetite!

With a 4.6 rating, we were genuinely excited to try it. Walking in, first impressions were great. The inside of the restaurant was super cute, the artwork was beautifully done, and the initial greeting was welcoming. Unfortunately, things started going downhill pretty quickly after that. We had a few questions about the menu, but the hostess seemed confused and didn't really understand what we were asking, so we ultimately just gave up and ordered what sounded good. Food-wise, it was very mixed. The sushi roll was phenomenal...genuinely the best part of the experience, and my son absolutely loved his. The shrimp udon was okay, but the portion was noticeably smaller than what most sushi places serve. The salmon poke bowl was very basic and honestly underwhelming. I also asked for spicy mayo, which was never brought out. The biggest disappointment was the service. Paying $4 for a canned soda with no refills already felt excessive, but when my son accidentally spilled it, we cleaned it up immediately ourselves. No one offered extra napkins, replaced the plate, or even asked if we wanted another drink. It just felt inattentive from start to finish. To make matters worse, one staff member was sitting at the bar listening to something loudly on a laptop, which completely took away from the atmosphere and felt unprofessional. As someone who used to waitress, I understand the service industry and I'm usually a generous tipper. But I also believe tips reflect service, and unfortunately this experience missed the mark. After picking up our receipt, the hostess was visibly unhappy with the tip amount and had no issue making that clear which only reinforced the poor experience. I very rarely leave one-star reviews, but for a place with a 4.6 star reputation and "top-rated" marketing, this was incredibly disappointing. Cute atmosphere and one great sushi roll aside, the service and overall experience were just not what we expected.

It's located in a plaza so parkings are readily available. When we got there it was early just when the restaurant opened so it was empty. Inside is small with some seatings and tables with bar area. Once we sat down we took a look at the menu and placed our order We got tsunama crisp and divers scallop appetizer to start. They were both good but tsunama crisp was our favorite. Scallops were good but pairings sauce and salad in the middle was ok. Garlic noodle was okay as well. Bit strong on the soy sauce but needed a bit more depth of flavor or sweetness. Sushi was good. I personally liked the eel roll. Service was good and waitress was attentive. Overall it's a solid asian restaurant offering decent sushi and asian food in the area. However it's not unique since they don't offer m anything that is significantly different from other asian restaurants. Since it's a bit far from where i'm located not sure if i'll return unless I'm already in the area.

With that in mind, there's nothing else I could imagine other than a hot bowl of ramen. Located about 1.7 miles or a 7min drive away, I was excited. Upon pulling up to the front of the building, you can drive slightly further down SE and park in the small lot with several spots. I actually don't remember anything about the interior to comment much. I was laser focused on getting food in my tummy. We ordered; Tan Tan Men ; a bowl of ramen with spicy pork miso broth. this absolutely hit the spot. it was deliciously salty and full of umami, and the toppings were just right, and I inhaled it in minutes Fried Calamari ; another excellent dish. the calamari was nice and crispy and the meat was tender. couldn't have been done any better. the mango chili puree sauce was also very good and something I haven't had before Tako Yaki ; I'm not sure if I need to say anything about this. it's about as yummy and expected of a properly-done tako yaki as you would expect Karaage ; this one was actually pretty upsetting with how bad it was. the chicken seemed like it was very overcooked - the skin was hard and crunchy instead of crispy, the meat was not juicy, and honestly the portions of these chicken bites were pitiful. I even sent a snap to a friend and she felt bad for me. the flavor was also immensely salty. it came with spicy mayo (which was actually spicy! that never happens!) and a tonkatsu sauce, but honestly I was desperately in need of something sweet like ketchup or honey. Wife and I ate a total of 3 pieces. Our waiter was very apologetic and asked multiple times if we wanted it re-done or if we wanted something else, but we were already pretty content by the time we could air our complaints. To my satisfaction, he removed the karaage from the bill. Despite the miss, the customer service and the quality of the other foods makes it easy for me to still give the place full stars.

In a state with no shortage of sushi options, this has remained my go-to spot year after year. At this point, I think I've tried either everything on the menu or come pretty close to it. That's what happens when you keep returning to the same place for over a decade. The reason I keep coming back is simple: consistency. The fish is always fresh, the sushi is well prepared, and the food is reliably good. If I order something cooked, it arrives hot and exactly as expected. There are restaurants where you're rolling the dice every visit. Haruki East has never felt like one of them. The restaurant itself is clean, comfortable, and easy to get to. The location is convenient, and the prices are very reasonable considering the quality of the food. That's become increasingly rare these days. The only reason I'm stopping at four stars instead of five is the service. While I've never had a genuinely bad experience here, the last few visits have been noticeably slower than I remember. Service has also felt a bit inattentive at times, and these weren't during packed dinner rushes or busy weekend nights. Nothing terrible, just enough that I found myself waiting longer than expected for drinks, check-ins, or the bill. That said, the food continues to be excellent, and that's ultimately why I keep coming back. After 15 years, Haruki East has earned a level of trust that few restaurants achieve. When I'm craving sushi, this is still the place I think of first. The occasional service hiccup hasn't been enough to change that. If you're looking for fresh fish, a broad menu, reasonable prices, and a restaurant with a long track record of getting the important things right, Haruki East remains one of the best choices in Rhode Island.
