I haven't come here in a while, but, of my friends had never had sushi so I told him I would take him to the best spot in the city--we landed here. As a disclaimer, raw sushi isn't my favorite. I tend to order cooked sushi, so maybe that makes me a fake sushi fan. Anyways, to keep it safe, we went with the California (avocado and crab stick), Wayland Maki roll (shrimp tempura, avocado with masago, and sweet soy sauce), and veggie pad Thai. The sushi came about only after about 10 minutes, followed by the paid thai 5 minutes later. Each roll brought about 6 pieces. The California was simple but good. I enjoyed the Wayland maki more, but I think I would have liked the sweet soy sauce on the side. The pad Thai was delicious. The veggies were mainly scallions, peppers, bean sprouts and maybe snap peas. I think some carrots and mushrooms would have paired well. We both left very satisfied. There was a price discrepancy on our bill (the menu said $15 and the bill said $17), so just be aware some items might be a little more expensive. They don't have a designated parking lot, but depending on the day and time you go, there is plenty of parking on the street. Our waitress was attentive and brought us everything we needed. They do have TVs and are typically on sports channels. In addition, you can watch them make sushi right before your eyes with their semi open station.

I took a gamble in trying a new sushi spot to me, and I'm happily satisfied with everything from Haruki East! For the quality, price, and size of the sushi rolls, I would highly recommend anyone to have a delicious meal here! My eyes scanned the extensive menu which offered a variety of sushi rolls, appetizers and entrees. My partner and I ended up ordering three rolls, the beef yaki soba, and a cold glass of Asahi. Everything we ate, we would absolutely eat it again and again. We ordered the TSC roll which was a crab meat and avocado roll topped with spicy Mayo and big juicy scallops. We ordered the Die Hard roll which was Yellow Tail and Jalapeño on the inside with cilantro on the outside - This was a great palate cleanser. And we ordered the Katano ll roll which had a big shrimp tempura and crab meat on the inside topped with salmon, shrimp, mango on the outside, topped with tobiko, spicy Mayo, and orange citrus sauce. This was the table favorite! We would absolutely come back because the food was amazing along with the fast and friend service. The spot is very casual and relaxed. We came here on a Saturday with a phone reservation for 630PM and got instantly seated outdoors with our dog.

This is the best sushi in the area. Granted, I have not sample a lot of sushi places in the area but this one so far has been my favorite for years. I just took my friend here while she was visiting because I wanted to give her a taste of the best sushi in Providence. I love the atmosphere; the lanterns hanging outside has always enticed me. The location on Wayland Square makes it convenient to access from East Providence. We called ahead 30 minutes before we to there to make sure they had room for 5. It was no problem! We ordered three appetizers: calamari, crab rangoons, and seafood rangoons. I liked the calamari, but some of my fellow diners felt they were too salty. I did not love the seafood Rangoons myself, but my family did. It was more of a spring roll than a Rangoon, and I am just not a spring roll person. The raspberry dipping sauce had really grabbed my attention, and I was not sure how I felt once I tried it with the seafood Rangoon. The crab Rangoons also left me wanting more, as in less wonton wrapper and more creamy crabby filling. The sushi, however, is where they really shine. My sea dragon roll was wonderful. I would order again! I paired it with a Boston roll, which was also good. For a simple roll, they really filled it with fish and avocado. Service was also very quick! I highly recommend Haruki East if you're looking for some good sushi in the city.

Came in for girls night this time. I've been several. The selection isn't as varied as some of the other sushi places around but the quality is always good. The price is pretty decent too. It's also kinda small so be prepared to wait but the servers are usually pretty nice.

If you're a sushi fan in RI, Haruki needs no introduction. The Providence location has been there for over 20 years, and you can always count on freshness and consistency. Their menu is diverse, but for me, the sushi and sashimi is the star of the show. The maki rolls aren't heavy on the rice and don't come overly sauced. The sashimi is fresh and you get a good portion of your fish of choice. While they won't be the cheapest sushi restaurant you'll find, you'll be hard pressed to find one of higher quality and a more attentive staff.

Good spot for sushi. I came on a Friday night around 7 and it was a full house, but by 8:30ish it cleared out. The lit up entrance is a nice touch. The servers were nice, and the drinks were good.

Haruki is still amazing. Always so fresh, consistent experience and friendly staff. I feel like the prices are reasonable as well. Janice makes the best drinks!

i've been to wayland square to lounge around and ended up here many times. now i come to wayland square primarily to eat here then lounge around! the sushi quality is so consistently good and i've always had helpful hosts. i mostly come for lunch here but have come for dinner a couple times, and the clean casual look inside works for both meals. i've brought vegetarian friends who enjoyed their tempura and noodle options. i've brought friends who don't eat raw that enjoy their cooked rolls and meat options. they really popped off with their aburti style tuna roll special this last time. i am still dreaming of it. it's a good gluten free place too, they'll bring you tamari if you need it. i've had their tempura fried oreo with ice cream before and shared it because it's so generous. i've really never had a bad experience here and it's been a few years going!

Decently priced and good food. The miso soup was great, and the fish tasted fresh. Service was also good and attentive. We went for an early dinner at 5pm on a weekday so we were the only people eating in there. No complaints!

Came here with a friend of mine for a light lunch to catch up and we both opted for the bento specials. I liked how simple yet flavorful my meal was, which came with crispy fried chicken strips over sweet teriyaki sauce, rice, miso soup, fresh fruit, and 3 pieces of California sushi rolls. My friend ordered the salmon teriyaki bento with rice, salad, fruit, and California roll. They offer different choices for the sides. Everything was fresh, cooked & seasoned well, and very neat looking. We both ate every single bite. Clean, aesthetic, good service, sanitary bathrooms, great value lunch specials, fresh ingredients, delicious food, excellent location. What more can you ask for? There's free parking across the one-way street on one side of the restaurant and 2 hour metered parking in the front.

With that in mind, there's nothing else I could imagine other than a hot bowl of ramen. Located about 1.7 miles or a 7min drive away, I was excited. Upon pulling up to the front of the building, you can drive slightly further down SE and park in the small lot with several spots. I actually don't remember anything about the interior to comment much. I was laser focused on getting food in my tummy. We ordered; Tan Tan Men ; a bowl of ramen with spicy pork miso broth. this absolutely hit the spot. it was deliciously salty and full of umami, and the toppings were just right, and I inhaled it in minutes Fried Calamari ; another excellent dish. the calamari was nice and crispy and the meat was tender. couldn't have been done any better. the mango chili puree sauce was also very good and something I haven't had before Tako Yaki ; I'm not sure if I need to say anything about this. it's about as yummy and expected of a properly-done tako yaki as you would expect Karaage ; this one was actually pretty upsetting with how bad it was. the chicken seemed like it was very overcooked - the skin was hard and crunchy instead of crispy, the meat was not juicy, and honestly the portions of these chicken bites were pitiful. I even sent a snap to a friend and she felt bad for me. the flavor was also immensely salty. it came with spicy mayo (which was actually spicy! that never happens!) and a tonkatsu sauce, but honestly I was desperately in need of something sweet like ketchup or honey. Wife and I ate a total of 3 pieces. Our waiter was very apologetic and asked multiple times if we wanted it re-done or if we wanted something else, but we were already pretty content by the time we could air our complaints. To my satisfaction, he removed the karaage from the bill. Despite the miss, the customer service and the quality of the other foods makes it easy for me to still give the place full stars.

We began with spring rolls (VERY good - chicken and shrimp) and sake, and the sake program deserves special mention. We selected a very enjoyable $38 bottle and noticed several other bottles at lower price points, along with a wide selection of canned sake--many around $11. Some diners may balk at paying that much for a can, but they will happily pay more for a mediocre glass of wine at half the volume. The value here is actually quite good, especially for those looking to explore sake beyond the ordinary. Our entrées--the ramen and chicken katsu--were excellent. The ramen featured a rich, deeply satisfying broth, while the chicken katsu was perfectly crisp on the outside and tender within. If you want a "hotter " ramen - the have an add on for a buck. Service was warm and attentive, reflecting the pride that often comes with a family-owned business. The atmosphere is relaxed and unpretentious, allowing the quality of the food to take center stage. Bristol is fortunate to have Sakuratani. Strong Japanese dining options can be hard to find outside larger cities, and for a restaurant only a year old, they seem to be doing many things right. We look forward to returning and exploring more of their menu--and their sake offerings. Highly recommended.

Very silky, some crunch, and the dashi sauce was well balanced. We then ordered tonkotsu ramen as our entree, and let me tell you I was not disappointed. After trying numerous ramens, specifically tonkotsu, this rated 2nd under my first favorite place. The creamy, rich broth was balanced, the noodles were bouncy (maybe homemade?), and the toppings were all good! Personally I am not a fan of thick pieces of pork chashu, so just keep that in mind when ordering that meat topping. Otherwise, excellent! Service: it was pretty slow so we got in immediately. Our waiter was very nice and took care of our table promptly. Atmosphere: it's definitely darker in this place, but the atmosphere was cozy and the booths were nice! Overall for me this was a 4.7/5, I would definitely recommend going here and experiencing decent tonkotsu ramen!

I walked into a space that is small and moody, the kind of room that feels lived in rather than designed for a particular aesthetic, and it suited the casual neighborhood feel of the surrounding area. The hot stone bibimbap is the dish that comes up most consistently and with the most enthusiasm. I ordered it and the stone bowl arrived sizzling. The rice along the bottom edges got crispy against the heat in a way that changed the texture and flavor of the whole dish as I ate through it. The beef and mushroom tofu versions are both well executed, and the egg on top finished the bowl correctly. The katsu is a solid option for anyone coming in looking for something more straightforward. I tried it and the breading was crispy while the cutlet inside stayed tender, and the sauce ratio was handled well rather than drowning what was underneath. The gyoza, japchae, seafood pancakes, and yaki soba fill out a menu that covers enough ground to satisfy a table with different preferences. Side dishes are served in modest portions, which was the main point of friction for me since I am used to more generous banchan. Food came out at a good pace and arrived hot. With a 4.6 rating, we were genuinely excited to try it. Walking in, first impressions were great. The inside of the restaurant was super cute, the artwork was beautifully done, and the initial greeting was welcoming. Unfortunately, things started going downhill pretty quickly after that. We had a few questions about the menu, but the hostess seemed confused and didn't really understand what we were asking, so we ultimately just gave up and ordered what sounded good. Food-wise, it was very mixed. The sushi roll was phenomenal...genuinely the best part of the experience, and my son absolutely loved his. The shrimp udon was okay, but the portion was noticeably smaller than what most sushi places serve. The salmon poke bowl was very basic and honestly underwhelming. I also asked for spicy mayo, which was never brought out. The biggest disappointment was the service. Paying $4 for a canned soda with no refills already felt excessive, but when my son accidentally spilled it, we cleaned it up immediately ourselves. No one offered extra napkins, replaced the plate, or even asked if we wanted another drink. It just felt inattentive from start to finish. To make matters worse, one staff member was sitting at the bar listening to something loudly on a laptop, which completely took away from the atmosphere and felt unprofessional. As someone who used to waitress, I understand the service industry and I'm usually a generous tipper. But I also believe tips reflect service, and unfortunately this experience missed the mark. After picking up our receipt, the hostess was visibly unhappy with the tip amount and had no issue making that clear which only reinforced the poor experience. I very rarely leave one-star reviews, but for a place with a 4.6 star reputation and "top-rated" marketing, this was incredibly disappointing. Cute atmosphere and one great sushi roll aside, the service and overall experience were just not what we expected.
