The after taste of the pumpkin spice latte tasted like mold, kinda disappointing for a $5 coffee.

Throughout this "crisis" period, we started visiting (via drive thru) a relatively new location of Heine brothers near our home.

The baked goods here are irresistible. I'm obsessed with their cheese danish (honestly, you can't go wrong with any of their pastries). Whether it's a muffin or a fresh-out-of-the-oven cookie, you can taste the love and homemade quality in every bite. On the savory side, the chicken and waffles is a must-try! And don't get me started on their biscuits and gravy--pure comfort food that hits the spot every time. Leavin Bakery is more than just great food... the atmosphere makes you want to stay a little longer. It's super cozy, always friendly, and the perfect neighborhood hangout. I can't wait to come back and explore their lunch menu--if it's anything like breakfast, I know it's going to be amazing.

The bakery and bread items were plentiful and everything looked delicious. The cinnamon roll was our favorite and it will be the reason to return. I also loved my lemon lavender scone, eating half there and taking home the other half for dessert. I wasn't as happy about the sides from the grill. My eggs were extremely peppery and I gave up eating them because every bite was overwhelming. My two slices of bacon were hard and pitiful, definitely not worth the cost. My friend noted her sausage as "interesting". The space has seating at the grill and two rooms, with one being crowded because of the incoming crowd. However, we were so happy to be there that we didn't mind the visitors and no one was rude to us as they walked along the ordering counter. The owners are a husband and wife team. She was friendly and talkative and we loved her the pride she took of the shop. We left with more pastries and bread. Such great selection and pricing. This is a reason to promote this shop. I've paid more for less quality but now know to come to Leaven Bakery.

Speaking of more The more we support local farms , the less likely they will need to sell land to AI data center financers. The less AI data 'farms' we have, the more POWER we the people wage. Supporting local is voting with your dollar. Supporting local is PUNK. Supporting local is how we the people set a precedent of what is needed. This change ebbs and flows to corporations. Kinda like how Kroger began carrying local produce... This only happened due to lost profit from a movement of more farmers market, local groceries, and people wanting to know where their food came from. So while people will always shop at mass corporations, supporting local inspires mass corporations to change where and how they purchase goods. When mass corporation shoppers purchase local produce, a seedling is planted. May we continue changing Mama Nay Nay, one small intentional radical act at a time!

There are a variety of coffee options like you would find in a coffee shop; my latte was good. My warm vegetarian panini sandwich with goat cheese, artichokes, and roasted red peppers also was quite good. I got two pastries, one for there and one to go, but I was underwhelmed by these. I also found the lunch menu a bit lacking in choices that appealed to me although my friend was happy with her chicken salad sandwich and it did look good. The woman who helped us at the counter was quite nice.

We searched for a boba shop nearby (and even not so nearby) and Mochi Wren Boba & Bakery in downtown New Albany came up at the top of the list offering an authentic variety of popular boba tea, coffee, and latte options and also a fusion yummy array of traditional Asian baked goods. Okay, let's go... Not far from Boomtown Kitchen and New Albany Candy Shoppe we walked to this boba cafe. It was a quiet Saturday evening and the we were the only ones in the shop the entire time we were there. We chose coconut milk tea and strawberry fruit tea for our drinks and on the bakery side we got the last two egg tarts left and a chocolate cake roll slice. I love egg tarts and theirs was just like the Hong Kong-style version of the ones we get in San Francisco Chinatown, lightly sweetened, flaky, buttery pastry and smooth. As far as the drinks we both love smoothie or blended drinks and sadly they did not offer this... hopefully, they can add this option to their menu in the future. Instagram: @mochi_wren Review #3879
