Came here for my brother in laws birthday on a Wednesday night. My husband and I decided to try that steak for 2 special - which comes with a 35 Oz sirloin steak and 4 sides of your choice. When our steak first came out, I was in awe because of how juicy it looked. We like our steak medium rare and it was cooked just how we wanted it. We took a bite out of the steak and it tasted just like it looked. And if you know good steak, there is no need for A1 sauce - this steak was a good example of that. We live in Elkhart but, looking for a good filet mignon, found Heinnie's on Yelp. Family dining is totally separate from the bar. Being "teetotalers" we like that. Dining room entrance is on east side with large paved and lighted parking lot in back. Enjoyed the privacy of high backed booth seating. Larger tables are available. Service was almost immediate and friendly with food arriving in 10 to 15 minutes. (We did arrive just before 6 PM. They were much busier later.) The Filet (Mignon) was delicious.with a slight smoked flavor. It was a different format, about 1 1/4 inches thick, 6+ ounces. We tried and it cut easily with a fork. As usual Yelp did not let us down. We were wondering as we were going through the neighborhood of industrial properties of what type of restaurant we would find, but pulling into the full parking lot told us the Yelp high ratings must be true. All the food coming out of the kitchen looked plentiful and good. We enjoyed the deep fried haddock. The food was pretty good but the hair in my mushrooms was gross. However, the waitress kept saying it was a grill brush hair and got defensive and told us we should just go back in the kitchen and look for ourselves, and how no one has hair like that. Which I'm unsure how a "grill brush hair" would get in my bowl of mushrooms. Then finally she agreed that it was a hair. In the middle of our meal she told us that she was going to ruin our fun time... I don't know what that was supposed to mean. The food was great but the server could've acted more professional about the issue and the comment she made. My wife and I are on a short vacation. While traveling around we like to eat at local restaurants rather than chains. When we pulled into Heinnie's we saw that it was in a light industrial area. The parking lot was quite full though so we ventured inside. I had the New York strip steak. It came hot and was prepared perfectly. It was a good piece of meat and tasted great. I got the baked potato. It was also prepared good. My wife also got the strip steak. Hers was excellent as well. She had ice tea, but it was very weak and she switched beverages. I stopped by for lunch for my very first time. Bartender Troy provided me with great service. The buffalo burger I had was absolutely delicious. Fries if I put it honestly tasted like burnt plastic (yes I've tasted it). Tends to attract a more middle aged crowd. Another slight caveat is that it seemed like I'm the first minority to have ever stopped by (probably not) but it sure felt like it. Saturday night we went to Heinnie's and were a little disappointed. They had raised their prices, somewhat. Of course, this is to be expected. What really bothered us were two things: 1) There were no prices on the menu for steaks even though all other items had prices. It was like they were trying to hide something. 2) The Prices on the steaks were too high. We got here between lunch and dinner. Dinner isn't served till 5:00 so we we were a little early for dinner . We decided to try the burgers. We were not disappointed. husband had The claybaugh but with only one pattie. Can't imagine it with two. it was so big he couldn't pick it up to eat it without wearing it. My family and have been going here for years and although the prices are high has been a good place....until. My wife ordered the fried chicken dinner, when it came out it was way over cooked. She tried to eat some of eat but it wasn't good. When she told the waitress that it was over cooked and asked if they could cook her new chicken the waitress immediately got an attitude and said "yeah, but it will be 20 minutes". Now I don't claim to be a chef but if you burnt someones food, you would think you could expedite it quicker since chicken takes less than 10 minutes in the pressure cooker. This place is great. The restaurant is very rustic and clean. The people are very friendly and personable. We are from out of town & were referred here by a local. When we arrived, we realized that we were here last year when passing through. Wife ordered haddock and I ordered the 16oz rib eye. Haddock was fried and enough for two people. Really good. We went to the back barn first time for me. I have been in the bar and ordered takeout for forever it seems. So I wasn't sure what to expect. It was very clean, I liked that we sat in a "stall". The appetizers were extra yummy we had potato wedges that were covered in cheese and bacon. And a sampler platter work jalapeno poppers mozzarella sticks and onion rings. They were all very tasty I had the pork tenderloin and Joe has me prime rib the Clydesdale prime rib which was huge and he said it was absolutely wonderful. My grandson had a hamburger my daughter had a hamburger and my son in law had a steak everybody was very pleased with their meal. We visited Heinnie's for the first time last week. It was delicious! The salads were very crisp and tasty. The steak was some of the best I've had and the baked potato was moist and flavorful. My husband and I ate here while in town based on yelp reviews. We were not disappointed. He had the 6oz steak with loaded potato and I had the black n bleu burger with a fries and coleslaw.
