Best Cesar ever and a slice of the spicy vodka pizza
    Paul N.

My new favorite pizza spot. Used to eat at a popular spot down the street but now come here instead at least once a week. Super friendly staff and delicious food. Great environment and always feels good to support a family business. Love it!

First time ordering a pizza from Heirloom, on Christmas no less. Got the Margherita, which came slightly warm and ready for the oven. Five minutes later, a crisped, thin, sourdough-fermented crust topped with local mozzarella, and buratta cheese. What a delicious find! Next time I'll visit their cute pizzeria on Melrose in person.

Spicy Margherita and Burrata Pizza with Homemade Ranch Sauce
    Sayan B.

Loved this pizza spot, may be my favorite pizza EVER- it is just off melrose ave so we decided to stop in while walking around and shopping. We just got one burrata slice initially and were so impressed that we decided to try two more slices immediately after! The pizza crust bottom is so perfectly crispy and it holds its shape very well. While it is simple at first glance, the sauce and cheese are the perfect balance of sweet, acidic, and salty which makes for a perfect bite every-time. The burrata also adds a delicious layer of creaminess too. The spicy margherita was just as good! They heat up the slices when you order and it only takes ~5 minutes to get your food. They do have an off-menu option for detroit style pizza that seemed intriguing, but we didn't end up getting that. We also tried their house made ranch which is like a citrus zesty ranch that paired well with the pizza, but it doesn't need it at all - especially since the ranch is a bit more expensive at $2 a cup.

I finally found it--a by-the-slice pizza joint in LA that's worth the drive! As someone who grew up on 99-cent slices in the Boston suburbs, raised a son in a best friend's Sicilian-owned pizzeria, and spent 17 years as a Yelp Elite, I don't make pizza recommendations lightly. But Heirloom Pizzeria has earned it--and then some. We stumbled across this gem by chance during a Melrose shopping trip that never happened. Parking nearby, I was drawn in by the simplicity of the place. Zoey, one half of the husband-and-wife ownership team, welcomed us and walked me through their options. I honed in on their bestseller: a cheese slice with vodka sauce. My son--a pretty famous YouTuber and most feared cheese slice purist--opted for both their regular cheese and pan-style cheese slices. Then it happened. You ever bite into something that triggers old memories from your childhood? Could be cotton candy, caramel apple, or that hang nail on your big toe. You just vanish into an old memory. One bite, and I was back in Methuen, Massachusetts, tasting my first-ever pizza slice. I could almost hear the arcade sounds of Pac-Man and Defender when games were just a quarter. The vodka sauce cheese slice wasn't just good--it was transcendent. I turned to my son for his verdict. His standards for a good slice are ruthless. His reaction? We both ordered another slice on the spot. The vodka sauce cheese slice is hands-down the best cheese slice I've ever had in Los Angeles. It may not be strictly traditional, but it stays true to its old-school roots while offering a slight twist that elevates it. Zoey and hubby have created something truly special. The ambiance is understated, but the flavors are unforgettable. This isn't LA-fancy with Peking duck or Jerusalem artichokes (those have their place); this is about pure, simple, East Coast-style pizza done to perfection. There are few places in LA that can pass my blind test for by-the-slice cheese. Heirloom Pizzeria is at the top of my list. I will gladly make the drive from Marina del Rey just for this.

Inside the restaurant was impeccably clean.

Was walking by and decided to grab a slice to go. Staff was super friendly and quick to greet me. Had a slice of the Spicy cheese pizza and was one of the best I've ever had. Thin crispy crust, a rich tomato sauce and the perfect amount of cheese. There wasn't any excessive noise and nice music playing in the background.

Litereally MY FAVORITE pizza . I will drive here from WHEREVER to get the pepperoni . Get it the way they make it which is either burrata , mint and hot honey . This place has the best vibe . Small little hole in the wall right on the ICONC melrose Zoey is just amazing she has the best service & really wants to make sure you love your food . They take such pride in their recipes . Order a whole pie or walk in and have it by the slice . So delicious

Highly recommend if you are looking for a quick place to grab a bite. They sell slices!!! My favorite is the bbq chicken pizza because I am a CA girl but really all of their slices are good. The ranch is more like a lemon aioli but still tasty. Service is fast and the people that work here are kind. Don't forget the hot honey!!

Amazing pizza, definitely my favorite in LA! The cashier and the pizza chef are both very nice. Some seating inside. I love that I can grab by the slice - I originally wanted only one, but I ended up buying another because the first one is so good. I would give the spicy marg and vodka pizza a 5/5! I added burrata and hot honey and it tasted amazing. I will be thinking about this for days and will definitely be coming back

Cocktails are slightly limited as it is not a full bar, but they do have options. The frozen Spritz was very flavorful, more fruit forward and would be perfect in a hot day. The Nonna's Medicine had a nice complexity to it with the flavors peeking their heads out at different times through the process. For food we started with the crudo, mussels and grilled oysters. The crudo was very fresh and had a lot going on with it's simplicity. Just a great bite. The mussels were decent but really didn't stand out in any way. The grilled oysters, however, had flavor and texture, with a Parmesan crust on top and the oyster and juice underneath. Very good! For pizza, they are almost like little personal focaccia pizzas, cut into four slices. We tried the mushroom, pepperoni and white pizzas. The mushroom has a garlic cream sauce and herb mix with Parmesan. You definitely get the mushrooms, as they are ample, but they do not over power the pizza. Just a good blend of flavors in each bite. The white comes with Japanese potato, fennel, mozzarella and pesto. Another really great bite with the potatoes not overpowering everything else. Finally, the pepperoni with spicy honey. The spicy honey is more like spicy marinara honey sauce, but it works. Could have used more of that as it came on the side. The pizza itself, with mozzarella and pecorino tasted great. Maybe that focaccia is the move? Overall, De La Nonna did not disappoint. Everything was very nice, and sitting on the patio when the weather is perfect is always a move. I would say to skip the mussels but, everything else, give it a try!

Initially we were going to…read moretry De La Nonna, but they were closed for a special event and we didn't know when we showed up. In the same vein, we stuck with a similar style of food and ended up at Propaganda. There was little to no wait, which was pleasant. It was a nice day and we decided to eat outside. The focaccia bread and salad came out first, and both were good. I enjoyed the crispiness of the bread, though my only qualms were that the bread was quite oily and the butter and salt were just a tad bit too salty for my liking. The Insalata Mista salad was solid. Good flavor, good dressing-to-salad ratio, and a surprisingly good portion size. As far as pizza goes, the Margherita was good. Tasty, moist, and a nice crunch on the crust. I found it to be enjoyable, though I may have enjoyed more fresh basil on this. I did find it better than the Boscaiola. I got the black truffle honey add on, and it does not go well on this pizza in my opinion. There was virtually no taste of truffle to me, and more of just an aftertaste of oily sweet honey. This was a miss. It's hard to say whether the base pizza was good without it because the flavor profile was just too overpowered by the aftertaste. The Arts District is definitely coming up with new upscale dining establishments, and I'm there for it. I think this is a solid addition. Though this is a wine bar, I don't generally drink, so my review is based purely on the food. Results of their drinks, which is quite an extensive list, may be to your liking! They do have an inexpensive three wine flight, for reference!

I've had this same pizza at several other spots in LA, but Prime Pizza really executed it well here. So well balanced in textures and flavors, and the crust was both nicely crispy on the edges and fluffy in the center! - Spicy Pep: Solid pizza, and we LOVE when pizza places use cuppy pepperoni. Nice name, but when I see menus of any cuisine that go out of their way to offer vegan and gluten free versions of everything, it tends to put me off. I know that's an unfair prejudice, but I always assume it's more of a healthy food place for people who complain about regular food than a real tasty joint. Well, I couldn't have been more wrong. Now that I've tried their fantastic pizza, my only sadness is that they are located in DTLA, where finding parking even to run in and pick up things to go is always difficult. So, we were here at first not for the food but because my teen son's death metal band, Institutionalized, was playing a show with the very popular super cool local metal band Diabology. But, hey, if you're there might as well grab something before you leave, right? So We got a cheese pie, which was excellent. Also tried a slice of their white pie, which was garlicky goodness. What really sold us, though, was the Sicilian pie we got. As born and bred New Yorker transplants who have been here a long time, we have never found a fantastic Sicilian. Good, sure, but never great. The pies are never thick enough as far as the breading. Here it was as close as we've ever got. And like the other pizza, the taste was excellent. The customer service was amazing and the cashier who helped me, Melissa, was so apologetic and sweet (obviously wasn't her fault), but this is just another warning to anyone who is vegan and considers coming here. I also came when they were about to close and already had to wait like 15min longer than they said so there's not even anything else open this late for me to find other food. Very disappointing and I will not be coming back for good this time. If I could give separate stars for customer service, I would give them 5 stars but this was unacceptable on the cook's part.
