So I ordered through DoorDash and I heard a lot of hype from some buddies of mine and I was very disappointed the seal on the box was ripped and box was open and the pizza was a bit cold took a while more than expected. I tried calling to make sure it was made properly but I was placed on hold and that was a no no! I understand if you ask me to hold for 2-3 minutes but not over 10 minutes. Was super hungry on the Hollywood strip at midnight and tried to go to another restaurant that said it would be open but ended up closed. Across the street we found Joe's pizza, with delicious smells and a full house even so late at night. It's your typical pizza joint atmosphere, a window showing all of the different pie options, the counter and the oven right behind it They had lots of options for pizza, I actually think that I chose the wrong one, the grandma life because it clearly didn't have a lot of cheese on it and I ended up thinking. I wished it had more cheese. My friend had a pepperoni slice, but all the slices looks pretty good. In my opinion, the looks were better than the taste, they weren't fat just a little bit underwhelming. I'm by no means a pizza snob, and I think the whole thing about New York pizza being strictly better is overblown. They certainly have a high concentration of very good pizza shops within a short distance of anywhere you may be, which is an absolute godsend, but I still stand by the fact that the best New York slice is the one closest to you. By all means, Joe's makes a fantastic slice, and they're definitely one of my favorite meal options when it comes to Hollywood, especially for the price and value ratio, so it does pain me to dock them on a recent painful experience. I had ordered online with the intent of convenience, didn't realize their platform was just an overlay on DoorDash, but it was for the intent of getting my order earlier, why else would I order in advance. When I get into the store, they basically prioritized obvious delivery driver types and ignored me, which wasn't cool, and they didn't have my order ready and still prioritized walk-in customers, so why did I even order in advance. Part of it is probably just a lack of competency which happens and is worth docking, the other is that I was definitely not prioritized as a customer which is not cool. Great pizza and I will be back, but mileage may vary in terms of actual quality of service. TIP: Don't bother ordering in advance. read more

Joes Pizza is pretty in the middle of the road when it comes to by the slice pizza. It's a thin, crispy New York style slice with a sweet sauce and the right amount of cheese. It's sometimes hard to find pizza by the slice in LA, so this is a good reliable go to as they have other locations, but as someone from the northeast, it's pretty painfully expensive for what you get. It's hard for me to justify more than a couple slices but it does do the job to fill the pizza craving every now and again. The service is always good, fast and easy, and they've always had the slice I wanted ready to put in the oven to heat up. I'm sure I'll be back! read more

Of course it's in a really sketchy area on Hollywood Blvd. (there's a giant homeless shelter 1 block away just south of Hollywood Blvd. on Schrader Blvd.) but inside this pizza place it's great. They refused to serve me a slice that was literally already sitting there, ready to go, over some nonsense excuse that made absolutely no sense -- especially since I had two other orders waiting in the car and the temperature of the food didn't even matter. They didn't ask questions, didn't listen, didn't care. And the worst part? The workers spoke to me with an attitude like I was beneath them. The energy felt racist, plain and simple. The way they looked at me, the way they talked down to me, and the tone they used made it clear they judged me off my appearance alone. They had no idea I'm an influencer and business owner because I was dressed down that day -- but that should NEVER matter. Instead of showing basic human decency, they told me not to come back. Service was quick and efficient, no frills. There was a large case of pizzas to visually choose from. My boyfriend and I both chose a slice each of the Pepperoni and Sausage Pizza ($6/slice). They take it from the case and throw it into the oven for some reheating. We paid at the cashier and waited briefly for the reheating. There were 3 small tables in the back and a lot of high-top ledge seating along the wall. All the tables looked a little dirty in one way or another, so we chose the least bad one and wiped it down. When the pizza was ready I picked the smaller slice. Slices were definitely not even. I liked the crispiness of the pizza crust, even the bottom had a nice crunch to it. The service was slow as they are clearly understaffed but they were communicative and clearly doing their best with what they have. We got pepperoni and cheese slices. As well as a rogue bbq chicken with jalapeños. No complaints there. NY style so the slices are huge and the crust was a perfect crisp. We also ordered a calzone, while it did need to be re-fired, they were apologetic and accommodating, giving us a slice while we wait. The white pizza was cool (7.5/10) I didn't taste cheese or white sauce but the soft crust and Lucious ricotta made up for that The caprese pizza is as refreshing as it looks (8.5/10) I really enjoyed the fresh tomato and mozzarella. Nothing bad to say. Sicilian pizza was a vibe (9/10) the sauce was sweet, the pizza deep, and the cheese melty. If I'd spend my last $6 on any of these slices, it'd be this one.
