For starters, I had the Heirloom salad, and she had the scallops. For dinner, I ordered the rockfish with the snapper sides. Perfectly cooked fish, flavorful coconut rice, and plantains . She ordered the shrimp dinner. it was okay. It's not my favorite, but not bad. We had the Adult Video star cocktail, which came with a shot of prosecco on the side. As always, dinner was a 10. I really really wanted to love this place. Went for a date night before a show. Walked in with pretty high expectations. Was sat in the closed in patio type area. It was freezing. I had on my jacket and also stole my husbands jacket. I was uncomfortable. Food arrived quickly, but my order was wrong. The waitress admitted to the mistake and came back quite a while later with my meal. It was ice cold. My husband even commented on that. It was also extremly watery from the vegetables that I didn't order. So I know they only scrapped off the veggies and put other item on and didn't reheat anything. Honestly it was one of my worst meals I've had at a restaurant. The shrimp was great! Pricy, but delicious. Drinks were extremely strong which was nice. You get bang for your buck. That it's run now by the previous part owner of The Landing. We finally had dinner here earlier tonight and wow. Top notch. Great menu, great service, nice pace, great execution. It was all good. We arrived for the Happy Hour specials on appetizers and started with Crab Nachos which was a very generous portion for $10 with a smooth crab cheese queso and blue corn chips. I chose a wedge salad for $13 which was a huge and generous serving - easily enough for two. Very good. Lots of the toppings of blue cheese, green tomatoes, pickled red onion, bacon and dressing. I love a good wedge salad and this one was on point. I chose the fried chicken entree for $26. This is a large and filling entree - after the nachos and salad I was pretty much full but I ate around half and took the rest for later. A large, breaded fried chicken breast with a pepper honey glaze (yummm) and pimento cheese Mac and cheese with a fresh seasonal veggie (brussel sprouts for me). Yum. Yum. Yum. Next time I'm doing the scallops. For dessert - my friend chose the seasonal berries over vanilla cream with puff pastry and I chose the s'mores dessert bar with marshmallow ($10). Both were good. Hers was light and mine was decadent and rich and chocolate-y. Very good. I liked The Landing when here at this spot and hadn't been back since it closed and reopened as Heirloom. I love the new layout inside and the decor and the closed-in sunroom area is beautiful and open and filled with plants and beautiful light fixtures and fresh, bright paint. I'll absolutely come back for a date night or nice dinner here any time!!! The prices are on the higher side here ($45 whole fish on the menu and $40 scallops entree) but I'd say quality and execution justify that. read more

I love Heirloom. I have been here twice and everything is delicious. The service is usually up to par considering the amount of people in the restaurant. The ambiance is calm and pretty. Wow! Made a reservation to try this place out on a Saturday night. Online reservations were full, so called instead to be sure -- they got us in, for a party of five! The restaurant is beautiful. The most precious decor, greenery and a comfortable, homey feel. It gave me the warm fuzzy feeling of visiting my grandmother's house -- but with updated decor. Even the bathroom was beautiful and included female products for use, free of charge in each stall. Very nice. The service was wonderful. Our server greeted us with a description of the specials for the evening -- which I love because most times the specials sound so good I can forego reading through the entire menu. We decided to try the Yellowfin tuna appetizer (served raw) and I got the Halibut on special as my entree. The appetizer special was excellent and very flavorful. The Halibut was pretty good. I wasn't a huge fan of the harissa that was served with it, but the fish, carrots and potatoes were good. Some other appetizers we tried were the Santa Fe Oysters (which are served in a sauce, not on the shell -- to be clear), the Oysters Rockefeller (we had a Battle of the Oysters, still not sure which one won!), the Jumbo Lump crab cake -- which comes with one 3 oz. crab cake, a black truffle aioli and shishito peppers, and the pork belly. My favorites were the Oysters Rock and the Jumbo lump crab cake with shishito peppers -- both were excellent! The pork belly didn't even really look appetizing, as it was one whole piece rather than cut up like it normally is. I would skip that one. The Halibut entree I shared with my boyfriend's mom and she shared with me the steamer pot! Both were good but the steamer pot, in my opinion, is overpriced for the amount of seafood received. We mutually agreed that we would not order it again. Their drink special was excellent -- their twist on a gin gimlet with house made watermelon syrup, bergamot and creme de violet. So good! They also offer non-alcoholic cocktails with Seedlip non-alcoholic liquor and we tried the Jenga and it was delicious -- you don't even miss the alcohol! All of their cocktails are named after board games, which is neat. They also have an extensive wine list and all the wines we tried (two Cabs, a Sauv Blanc, and a Sancerre) were all sensational. May 2021 experience: I spent my birthday dinner at Heirloom surrounded by friends, family, and delicious food. Oh my what a hidden gem! Tucked behind the Virginia Beach courthouse, I came here for my brothers birthday and wow was I surprised! The star for sure is the food. What a great variety of high quality food they have with a fantastic chef and crew to back it. The staff was friendly as well but a little on the slower side because of how busy it was... but when the food did come out, it was well worth the wait!! The flavors were top notch to me. It's been awhile since I've explored the "finer dining" spots but the quality felt like it to me. It also had some selections that had "soul" to it with some of the best collards I've tasted anywhere! Very delicious sides that came with the entrees with flavors merging together in a way that made you scratch your head of how it came together IN A GOOD WAY!! The only downfall to me was how crowded it was in the time of Covid. Outside of wearing a mask to enter or when moving about, it seemed to be at full maxed capacity as if nothing was going on. Maybe it had the proper distance but I've been in many other places to not feel so crowded. That also lead to long waits for whatever you ordered and found myself ordering "two drinks" just to stay ahead. Other than that, the star for sure was the food. It was absolutely delicious and DEFINITELY worth another visit with the wife so she can experience this. Everything about this place is impeccable. My husband took me here for my birthday and it made for a very special celebration. First things first: reservations are a MUST, at least if you're going during the weekend. We were seated at a high top near the bar, which wouldn't have been my first choice, but the mellow, minimalistic ambience made up for it. Next time, we hope to dine in the enclosed porch. We started with a round of drinks - wine for me, a "Wanna get chai" for my husband. Don't skip the craft cocktails! I had a sip of his and was floored - it contained notes of orange peel and came with the option to get it smoked. Heirloom also boasts an array of seasonal and nightly specials, which we decided to skip last night but did impress us. Instead, we started for the heirloom shrimp appetizer. The shrimp were coated in a crispy tempura batter and came with a delicious aioli. For entrees, I got the crabcakes with garlic smashed potatoes and Brussels, while my husband got the rockfish over duck confit gumbo. We could not get over how extraordinary all the food was - it was a difficult decision to even choose an entree! Throughout our meal, the service was attentive and we never felt rushed. While we were too full for dessert, our server brought us the dessert menu to peruse for fun, and it didn't disappoint (next time we'll have to try the s'more tart). 10/10 everything. 5 stars! my family and i came here for my birthday and my sister's graduation. we had customized menus printed out that say "happy birthday" and "congratulations graduate" which i also loved. i called ahead of time to verify my rsvp, which i was able to make online. the service was amazing and we were taken care of wonderfully. our server offered us warm apple cider on the house and it tasted like delicious apple pie. we also got seated at a very nice section of the restaurant, which i greatly appreciated. This place doesn't have a dress code but I would recommend wearing something along the lines of business/smart casual to match the crowd. This place is filled with plants/greenery all over and has lots of natural light coming through. We made reservations about a week before and were seated inside along the side of the restaurant. We got some raw oysters to start and they were cleaned very well and fairly tasty. For my entree, I got the Whole Yellowtail snapper which is deep fried and this thing is HUGE; honestly, we could have shared this dish along with two appetizers and that would have been enough food. The fish was fried to perfection but could have used a touch more seasoning. The toasted coconut rice that accompanied my dish was delicious and wished I had more of it. Wifey got the special halibut of the day with some zoodles which was just okay for me and she had the same sentiments. Overall, our waitress was very informative of the menu, checked up on us a few times, the food was solid, and the pricing seemed about average for this type of place. My husband and I relocated to Virginia Beach from the DC area and we're always looking for nice restaurants. This place is by far our #1 go to as it relates to food quality, service, aesthetic, cleanliness and overall ambiance. Most times people dress nice too which is a plus - hard finding places where the dress code is cared about for a nice dinner. We've been here a few times now and we haven't yet been disappointed. We've had the fried chicken, watermelon salad, burger & fries, and the snapper. The staff is pleasant and they usually go above and beyond. Happy hour is also nice if you're able to get in! Unfortunately, if you want to go to happy hour here, you'll need to be in line at at least 3:45 to get a seat at the bar as the restaurant opens at 4pm. Definitely make a reservation for dinner. We enjoyed Heirloom more than we anticipated as we heard mixed reviews. The setting is nice and you have a couple scenery's to choose from: dining room, bar, and patio seating (closed in, and a little louder than the dining room due to the layout). The burger was the best burger I've ever had and I learned it's a combination of beef, short rib, and something else I can't remember. The wedge fries that come with it are awesome. That was my husband's order which I ended up eating most of, I ordered the tuna. Cooked perfectly. The service is great and the atmosphere is modern and comfortable. A group of us made reservations for a Friday evening. Since we had more than 5 we were not able to submit our request online our friend has to call. No worries.. we scored reservations for 7:30pm. Their heirloom shrimp was perfectly lightly fried and their house aioli was to live for! There were no complaints about the rest. I ordered the tico tacos. It was good. The jalapeños were sliced pretty thick which made my mouth flame up. No worries though, I just took some off. I was a bit disappointed there was no sauce on the tacos, but the magi was cooked pretty well. In the description it said there was chiplote cream but I didn't taste anything. Desserts: Now this was the showstopper! Unfortunately, I didn't get a picture of the dessert menu so I'm typing this from memory. Local strawberry profiterole , carrot bar, and coconut pan a cotta with crisp wafer. Omg. The profiterole was absolutely delectable and amazing. And they charged a cake service fee for bringing small plates to the table when we didn't even ask them to. 3 dollars per person. And for those of us that got to go boxes they added 2 dollars more to the bill for each person that got a to go box. We visited from out of town and decided to try Heirloom based on the great reviews. We expected a nice experience but our expectations were exceeded by the food, atmosphere, and overall experience. The whipped ricotta and tuna poke appetizers were incredible, every ingredient tasted so fresh and they paired well with the wine we tried. My partner got the duck breast and I chose the mushroom gemelli with a crab cake added, and we were so happy with them. A server and the owner (?) came to our table separately to check in and provide context about the dishes, the ingredients and their sources, and the flavors of the food. It was really interesting to see such passion and truly added to our appreciation for our dinner. The strawberry shortcake special Valentines Day dessert (which we were told was made with freshly picked strawberries from last year's season) was refreshing, included some of the freshest ice cream I've ever tasted, and sealed the deal for our great experience. So last night my wife and I decided to check out Heirloom for a Valentine's dinner.  While they did not serve the regular menu they had a special Valentine's dinner menu. Let's start with the most important thing to me with any restaurant and that is the service. To say that the service was  Exceptional will be nothing short of the truth.  Oh server Kelly went above and beyond to make sure our meal was the way we ask for it and everything went smoothly. The menu consisted of a 4 course meal.  I started off with the beef tartar in the 1st course the 2nd course I had the Foie Gras.  The entree I had was the Prime Manhattan filet, and for my dessert I had the chocolate tart.  I could go into the details of each course.  However I would be praising the chef so much on how good the food was that most people will get tired of reading my review.  I will touch on a couple of highlights that really impressed me.  But if you want to stop reading now you can because I am going to recommend this restaurant to anyone at everyone I see. One of my Favs from the meal was the Hudson Valley Foie Gras.  It was so velvety smooth and the addition of the hazelnuts gave it that great contrast in textures along with the Radicchio slaw to cut the richness to make for a perfect bite. Another surprising and bite was the chocolate tart. This was not what I expected. Normally I don't like white chocolate, but I could not stop eating this desert. We opted to sit outside on the porch and despite the downpour that happened later in the evening, we never felt a raindrop. The porch is really cute and has a good amount of seating. We peaked the inside, which looked fabulous. Our waiter was very helpful with drink recommendations and I found myself enjoying a bourbon cocktail (I don't really drink it). We shared a wonderful tuna appetizer that was eaten very quickly. For our entrees, I had the most amazing soft shell crab and the husband had the duck. We both really enjoyed our meals but felt that the crab was the star between the two. For dessert, we had a key lime inspired plate that we both really enjoyed. The service we received was excellent and every plate of food we had was perfect. As soon as we left, I felt myself planning our next visit back! Went in for happy hour. They happy hour menu is great. We tried a couple mixed drinks and wine. We also had several of the happy hour appetizers. The drinks were well made and delicious. My fiancé and I rushed here for happy hour after hearing stellar reviews by word of mouth. Its a very classy Southern-appearing restaurant from the outside. Its interior has beautiful high ceilings with wooden beams. We sat at a two top near the bar. We started with the blue crab nachos appetizer, followed by the heirloom burger and tico tacos. The nachos had excellent flavor with the right amount of saltiness you'd expect with crab. However, the amount of actual crab felt lacking/inadequate. Maybe its just me but i like crab chunks/lumps. The burger was pink and juicy as I wanted! The fries were shaped like Pringle chips but retained the density and crispiness that you'd expect from a traditional fry. Very awesome value. First time here so I'm open to the delights that this place offer. There were 5 of us, all ladies. The place from outside looks lay back and homey. They have a long front porch with chairs and table outside for a wonderful outside dining overlooking their little garden and pond. Once you go inside, then the ambience changes to fine dining. I see elegantly dressed people and some casual. The bar is full too. The service is quick and sweet. They immediately seat us since we had a reservation. The waitress was quick to get our order and give us drinks. Btw, my coffee was fresh. The appetizers was perfect. I specially love their fried shrimp, it is at same time tender and crispy and very tasty. I Also love my she crab soup. It's has actual crab meat in it.
