I was so happy to be getting my nails done with the goal of coming back the next day to get a pedicure done before leaving for vacation on Saturday. I requested gel nail polish on my hands and regular polish on my toes. I was pissed 6 days later when the gel polish started peeling off my fingers. To make it worse, my pedicure with regular polish typically last 3-1/2 weeks before I need a new pedicure. The polish on my toes lasted 10 days and cracked. Then I had two different nail techs and both were rough so I did not enjoy the process. The product is terrible and I write this review primarily to remind myself where not to return. I had two back to back trips and unfortunately didn't have time to go to a new salon to get a fresh mani/pedi so I was raggedy on my second trip.

LONG BUT WORTH THE READ…read more First - I should say, I am not a huge nail person. I get pedicures regularly but rarely get manicures. I tried a dip-powder thing in mid March before a trip and liked it. It was $65 and I thought that was a bit high but reasonable. After some time, I decided I wanted that again. So - six weeks later, I went back. Same person, Sarah, who gave me her cellphone number the first time I went. I liked that and was happy to text and ask her availability. Went in for pedicure and another dip powder process. I saw the board showing prices on this visit. It indicated the dip powder was "$50 and up" and I did wonder why my first time was $65 but didn't ask or say anything. Pedicure ($35) was fine although the polish could have been more covering in general. While getting pedi, we talked about the color for my fingernails. I said I wanted something like "Ballet Slippers" which I know is a popular and common Essie color name. Sarah said they didn't have that, but she could mix two together to get that color. I assumed mixed, like in a bowl, combining the colors together to make one. It turns out, it was not that kind of mixing, but rather a coat (or two) of one color and then a coat of another on top. Fine - I liked the color and my nails looked pretty. I said "so the dip is $50 ... or ... ?" And Sarah seemed to be doing some math in her head, adding it all up. "The pedicure is $35 and ... " HERE IT COMES --- The cost for my dip powder finger nail service this time was $85!!!!! I said something wow - I thought it was 50 or so ... and she mumbled something about mixing the color that I wanted. I left and happened to be seeing my adult daughter that night. I told her who gets her nails done regularly at a really great place in S. Philly, Pure. She was confused like me why it was so high. Having Sarah's cell number, I texted her to ask. Received her reply this morning saying that the full set of nails is $55 and the "additional gel color is $30." I asked again - and she said "I painted gel color for you that looks like ballet slipper." OMG - so it was $30 to have her paint - NOT MIX - a different color on top of first color. $30!!!!!!!!! I truly am speechless. The only thing I could reply is that her salon did not have the color I wanted, she said she can mix it to be that color but SHOULD HAVE TOLD ME IT WOULD COST AN ADDITIONAL $30 to put a different color on top. OMG - Sarah is great and the place is so close to where I live and nice to sit by the window but I feel taken advantage of. Maybe it was because in answer to a question about trips coming up, I said we have a place at the shore that we are going to soon. Maybe they listen to things like that and then give you a price based on what they think you can afford. I don't know but sadly, I am crossing this place off. I just cannot justify the explanation of the additional $30. I mean, come on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They filed down my natural nail so bad I have a hard indent in my nail bed, and she kept drilling my cuticles/skin so much that the next day they were sore and one looked a little infected. I probably should have made an appointment for my last few visits, because I somehow always get Coco and she's just not good. She did a dip mani on me a few weeks ago - my first - that was so lumpy and thick that the cuticle edges kept catching on my hair and clothes. When I finally went back to have it removed and get a regular gel manicure instead, she rushed through my pedicure (no spa, just regular). While she was using the callus file she was looking around the salon and not at my heels, which she was sanding down to nothing. Barely any massage. The gel manicure was also rushed. She was using a worn file to shred the thick layers of dip powder - which she'd applied a few weeks ago - until my nail plates felt sore. You can see how the polish was applied. No cleaning up of the skin around my nails and a gap between the polish and cuticle. I didn't love the color (it definitely looked different on the swatch nail) but I just wanted to leave at that point. I walked out feeling like I wasted $40 plus tip. And now my nails are SO THIN. I'm sad because I really like Alice, Lily, June, and the gentleman who does the massages. I've been going here forever. I just can't keep wasting money on bad manicures. I also miss when they'd use a fresh file and buffer on each client, but now they're obviously reusing the ones they have into the ground.

First, he seemed to be giving a more aggressive massage than usual making it difficult for tech to paint my nails. Then he was massaging my lower back and actually "massaged" my bottom. He has never done this before. It was gross. I tried to move and he moved his hand up. Also, the tech I had -I don't know her name- she is the youngest one -again did a gel manicure that chipped within 2 days. I thought it was a fluke the first time but now I know it is her. She also rushes as though there is another customer waiting when there isn't. I was hoping for a different tech that did a better job on another visit but no such luck. The positive is they use plastic liners for foot tub and give you a cold water bottle.

Dip nails chipped after 3 days…read more Gomos is under new management in recent years. I've given it a try a few times and it's left me less than impressed. I got dip nails on Wednesday and by Friday, 3 had significantly chipped. I hadn't soaked my hands in anything, used lotions, or done any type of work that should have caused it (unless you include checking sofa cushions for a remote). They put on four layers of dip and a gel topcoat. It must be low quality materials because they separated with no damage to the nail bed. Disappointed in the quality.

The nail salon was filthy and I was not the only one who noticed. I made an appointment with Susan and when I arrived, she pretended she didn't know me and put me with someone else thinking I couldn't tell the difference between her and this other woman. That is just horrible service. The woman who did my mani & pedi was rough and lacked a gentle touch. I actually winced several times because she was hurting me. The prices went up and the experience went down. I cannot stress enough how awful my recent experiences have been and beg you to avoid this place. (Oh and they always pretend the credit card machine isn't working so you have to go to the atm across the street -terrible business practice).
