It was very busy. The drink menu is interesting. It was unexpected then the mango flavor hits and it gives balance. It also have coconut, a layer of mango pieces that not particularly too sweet.The base is cake. The service was fast although it was busy. The staff were friendly and attentive. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. It's a nice place to go to and try their unique drinks.

I love minimalist spaces, and this is the exact opposite. This is probably just my own OCD personality that misses Steve Jobs and his black turtlenecks. The staff, however, is very nice! Okay, now the coffee, which is what my rating is based on. The latte was a small step up from Starbucks and had an odd taste that I couldn't quite place. My wife couldn't finish hers. The drip coffee was barely above lukewarm and just didn't taste good. Again, it was hard to put my finger on exactly what was wrong with it, but it didn't taste particularly fresh. I noticed the bag of beans on the counter was roasted on 6/30 and marked down on clearance. Anyway, it's probably a perfectly fine place if you're not obsessed with excellent black coffee or high-quality espresso drinks. The space is large, there's lots of outdoor seating, and the staff is nice. I just wish I'd known going in that the coffee wasn't very good, so I'm writing this review for the other people out there who are equally insufferable about their coffee.

The menu is also fairly limited, so there aren't a ton of options to choose from. That said, I really enjoyed the Yin-Yang Coffee + Tea. It's a unique combination and probably the drink that stood out the most to me. I also got a chai latte and a matcha donut. The barista doesn't seem like they enjoy being there...so meh on customer service, too.

There were a lot of other things on display that looked really good so when I venture out to this part of town I'll have to come back and give those a try. I definitely recommend coming in early because a lot of things in the front displays were cleared out by the time we got to the front. They do keep making more but it's not a guarantee.

I was disappointed with the level of customer service during my visit. The employee at the register didn't come to the end of the counter to take my order, which led to multiple mistakes. My takeaway items were packaged incorrectly, and the item I asked to have at the café was also wrong. Instead of being served on a plate, it was given to me in a paper box. Additionally, the sauces weren't set out for customer use, and I had to specifically request them, which added to the inconvenience. It's unfortunate that such carelessness could potentially drive loyal customers like myself away. I hope improvements are made to provide a better experience moving forward read more

Overpriced, disappointing, and definitely not worth it. The donuts were plain and honestly tasted disgusting, while the coffee was just as underwhelming. For the prices they charge, I expected much better quality. I'm all for supporting local shops, but when the food is bad, the prices are high, and the service isn't great, there's really no reason to come back. I won't completely write Tartine off based on one visit, especially since both the loaves and their famous morning buns were sold out by the time we arrived. The pastries we did try were overly sweet for our taste, and having just visited Artisanal Goods by CAR, we felt CAR's pastries were on another level. The sandwiches, however, were good--really good--and easily one of the highlights of our visit. But the "side" they came with... And then there were the carrots. Each sandwich came accompanied by one. Singular. Pickled. Painfully skinny. Carrot. Dramatically sprawled across the tray as though it had been carefully selected for the sacrifice. I'm still not entirely sure whether it was a side dish or a garnish that had lost its way. Surprisingly, they were actually very good pickled carrots, but I'll never forget the presentation. At least give me a couple if they're going to be that small--or perhaps one with a little more girth. Words fail me. The biggest disappointment was the country bread with cultured butter and jam. Since they didn't have any loaves left to take home, I specifically ordered the bread untoasted, as I was really excited to finally taste Tartine's famous country loaf--which I've baked over and over again at home using Chad Robertson's book. Instead, the slices arrived griddled and already saturated with butter, with more served on the side. For me, it completely overwhelmed what should have been the star of the plate: that delicate, beautifully made bread. I simply wanted to taste the slices on their own and let the cultured butter and excellent seasonal jam--which was fantastic--complement it. All in all, it was a frustrating first visit, especially after looking forward to Tartine for so many years. There were certainly bright spots (yes, even the mysterious carrot), and I wouldn't hesitate to give Tartine another chance--perhaps at the original San Francisco location someday--but this particular visit didn't live up to expectations.

On this weekday I came for the Jasmine Milk Tea. Last time this was under the Tea Latte section, but they menu changed and there is now a dedicated Milk Tea section. And also there is a Jasmine Latte with Espresso in it, but that is under the Espresso section. I was able to get it chilled but without ice. The lowest sweetness level was 50%, but I asked nicely and they estimated they could make a 25% for me. It turned out wonderfully, extremely floral, barely any sweetness so the Jasmine aroma and taste were the dominant ones. In the food side I selected the popcorn chicken. I can take some heat but only a small bit, so I asked for the spice powder in the side. I just looove the texture of the popcorn chicken. You can see in the picture that it's a very thin breading, almost not there, but the texture seems almost as if an invisible rice flour was tossed in the outside. Still juicy in the inside, and small pieces to make every bite pop-able. The chicken comes with a ranch sauce, though to me it's a second thought. Add a hint of spice or even have the chicken as is, no ranch is needed.

My favorite drink is the brown sugar latte (I'd recommend 25% or 50% sweetness), followed by the Thai tea latte. Cons: Traditional espresso drinks feel more modernized than authentic. On my most recent visit (Friday around 10:20 a.m.), I ordered a cappuccino that took 15 minutes to receive and was surprised it only came in 12 oz or 16 oz. I was expecting a smaller cup like other places. The 12 oz tasted more like a latte with extra steamed milk than a classic cappuccino. The ube and hojicha lattes were decent, but I've had better elsewhere. Parking in front is limited to 15 minutes, but there's additional one-hour parking in the rear.
