This shop was super high on my list as someone who's gluten free! Unfortunately it wasn't a huge hit and I don't see myself being a regular. The staff were very nice and the space was super cute! I mainly came in for coffee and got an iced ganache mocha with oat milk and cold foam. To put it politely: it was bad. It didn't taste like coffee or mocha and the salted cold foam didn't help, despite my frantic stirring to try to mix it in. It was a $10 drink --$12 after tip, so I tried my best to finish it but was pretty bummed. I know a few spots I could've gotten my order for better and cheaper. But now I know! I didn't want to leave without getting a pastry of some kind so I got a brownie ($6.50 I think? $7 and change after tax) and it was good. There was an aftertaste I didn't love at first but I got used to it and it was a decent size. If I had stuck to the pastries maybe I would've had a different experience. I really appreciate a gluten free bakery and I'll probably come back to try their assortment of baked goods. I'll just grab coffee somewhere else first.

Very cute gluten-free bakery and coffee spot. The inside is adorable and the service was excellent. Everything here is gluten-free, which is always a huge plus. We picked up two biscuits and they were wonderful. We also tried six donuts and our favorite was the maple pecan -- definitely the standout. It's a little on the pricey side, but still a great stop if you're looking for gluten-free treats. I just wish we had more time to stay and enjoy the space instead of grabbing everything to go.

Loved it here. The coffee was so good and it was actually strong. I don't like when I have coffee and I can't feel a little boost of energy, well that wasn't the case with this coffee. We didn't try any of the pastries but they sounded so good, we will have to try them next time. The service was welcoming and helpful. We didn't know what to order and they made some suggestions which turned out delicious. We loved the vibe as it felt like we were in Pasadena. They had beautiful wallpapers and seating along with decor. I would definitely recommend you stop by if you are visiting.

The fact they have a rose cardamom latte is so elite. I honestly think it would've been better hot, but that's on me. Really cute place though and will go back to try their matcha. Also barista was so nice she was telling me about how she just made a fresh batch of the rose syrup, which honestly did taste fresh!

If I could give this place 100 stars, I would! Being gluten free, it can be quite hard to find bakeries that fit our needs. Coming from NorCal, I visited Hello You're Welcome by a simple google search for gluten free online. I was thinking just one item- I didn't expect to come out with three items! I got the bacon biscuit, maple scone & the cherry cheesecake danish. They were all so good! None of the items I had were dry or grainy - characteristics of some gluten free items if not made the best. They were dense, moist & full of flavor. They were very attentive and even warmed up my biscuit. If I could go back, I definitely would. I highly recommend coming here!

Most of the stuff here is gluten free but that comes with a price! The donuts are pricier because they are gluten free! Service is good though and the place has some small tables. Nice set up overall. Can't judge too much on the food because I just visited with my friend but I did not want to buy anything.

Maple Matcha and a Pumpkin Cream Cheese Loaf
    Melisa A.

I went on a Sunday morning with my husband and toddler, right before heading to Vroman's. We ordered an iced maple matcha with oat milk along with a pumpkin cream cheese loaf, and both were enjoyable. The matcha was very subtle in flavor and the loaf was a bit dense, but flavorful. I love the look of this coffee shop. It's super bright and bold, with a playful, grandma aesthetic. Think colorful teacups, charming plates, and details that make you want to look around while you sip your drink. It feels cheerful and well-curated, and fits right in with the Pasadena vibe. Service was friendly enough, nothing over the top but pleasant and welcoming. One thing that really caught my eye was their pastry case. They have a beautiful selection of baked goods, and many of them appear to be gluten free, vegan, or both, which is a big plus if you are looking for lighter or more health-conscious options. Pasadena has no shortage of coffee shops and bakeries, so it can be hard for any one spot to stand out. That said, this is a great option for anyone seeking healthier treats in a feel-good space.

Exciting women owned business serving vegan and gluten free desserts for all to enjoy. Gave out brownie samples, fudgey and delicious! + Pumpkin Apple Cider donut ($6): fun fall flavor but didn't taste like pumpkin or apple cider, and was bit dense. Had a subtle spiced flavor (6/10) + Coconut cortado ($6): super kind and upsized this to a latte for me. The coconut milk worked well, sweet (7.5/10)

Walked in around 10:45am yesterday after my eye apt down the street and decided to give it a try. They had a wonderful array of different pastries, both sweet and savory. Not pictured is the breakfast biscuit that they warmed up for me. I liked the crunch it had but it was a little too dense for me. The donut was a maple pecan donut and it was also a little too dense for my liking, I liked fluffy airy donuts. The strawberry matcha was good!

I had this place bookmarked cause another influencer recommended it a while back for having delicious vegan gf treats. On my visit, I ordered an iced matcha latte, an iced flat white, and a brown butter chocolate chip cookie. Unfortunately the matcha latte was disappointing, could hardly taste the matcha. I ended up whisking in more matcha and adding a bit of sweetener at home, as it didn't seem like any had been added initially. The flat white tasted acidic and sour. The chocolate chip cookie, however, was excellent and definitely the highlight. Wanted to love this place but with so many bakeries and cafes in Pasadena, I'm not sure I'll be back :')

HYW is an inviting spot to sip elegant tea selections, coffee rich drinks and, the star of the place are the gorgeous donuts! Kiddos to the friendly staff for their warm welcoming! Had a panini and a latte -- A+

Food I was in town for a work conference and chanced upon this quaint little cafe. Was on the hunt for coffee and something sweet, so i got a brownie and an iced americano. The brownie was huge and really satisfied my craving and i loved the chocolate flavor in it and it wasn't overly sweet. The texture was nice and moist and soft. The americano i got was a light roast and the taste was really good and not overly acidic like other coffees I've had. Serive/Ambiance Once you enter, the whole vibe is just pink and nice to look at and you get that nice display of all the pastry items they offer. The staff was nice as I was ordering and until I got my order and overall a nice experience spending a few mins just chilling in this cafe.

HYW is a niche gluten-free, vegan/vegetarian donut and pastry cafe in Pasadena, located on the NE corner of Los Robles and Colorado. Street parking only, but there's usually a spot open. The shop has been in Pasadena for a few years now, if memory serves. I visited when they first opened and recall having a good impression. I think I stopped going because they didn't have much seating. Now, the shop has really made it much more inviting to sit and work. The inside is beautifully designed with artful touches, and has a pleasing carnation, pink, and yellow color scheme. It makes the place feel energizing but still grounded. The staff are friendly and helpful. They offer a good selection of breakfast items, baked goods, and donuts. The donut flavors are amazing. I forgot to take a picture of my order, but each donut tasted distinct and for the description. The matcha strawberry and the maple espresso donuts were my favorite out of my order. You can order a coffee or tea to go with your yummy pastries. TL/DR: a great spot for breakfast, donuts, and coffee/tea with amazing gluten-free, vegan, vegetarian options.

Their espresso drinks are consistently very good. Good espresso, good flavors, etc. Tastes like you know exactly what went into it. Matcha latte - the matcha is beautiful. They hand whisk behind the bar and color is gorgeous. This is definitely one of their more expensive drinks to make, and price reflects. There's interior seating (and some outdoor), but it's usually noisy and bustling. Much better to socialize. By the time I was done ordering and had everything there was probably 20 people in line. So getting there a little early makes sense. I ordered 4 chocolate croissants, 3 Monkey Breads, 2 Kouign Amanns, and a partridge....sorry. Wrong song. 1 chocolate bar and a cappuccino. So far I've had a Kouign Amann and the cappuccino. The cappuccino may be the best I've ever had. I don't know what kind of coffee they use, but it was very smooth. That alone is worth the trip. AND, my barista did a cute milk art on top. The Kouign Amann was AMAZING. Layered and flaky I confess I ate the whole thing! I can't wait until I can try the other 2 things I've purchased. After all, the chocolate croissant was the primary reason for going. Now for the negatives: Management should figure out a way for more than one person to take orders and box them up. Even Mom & Pop donut shops often have multiple people taking orders. And Porto's has it down to a science. It would go a long way toward clearing the line faster. My second issue was the price. Quality is expensive. I get it. And I'm fortunate enough to be able to splurge for a treat like this. But with a small tip added to my total I spent just shy of $100! Not something I can do every week. But I would encourage you to save your nickels and check them out!
