We would likely not go back. It was OK. We were passing by and hungry and tired of looking for a spot. They brought me a ham/mushroom omelette instead of cheese/mushroom. Amusingly, when I asked... and said I was ok with the ham as long as it had the cheese... they took it back and gave it a quick microwave with 2 pieces of orange cheese slapped on top. All that was fine. It was really just the super mushy potatoes that grossed us out. The service was otherwise friendly. It's got a tiny long time diner vibe. Nothing super notable.

Stopped by on our last day in town for breakfast. Even though they were busy, we were able to get a table quickly. Our server was nice and attentive. The food was decent, normal diner food. Overall it was good and we'd stop by again.

What's not to love about Applejack? The food was amazing and as tourists, the ambiance really made us feel like we were in New York. The service was quick and the food was even quicker.

Not my first time to Applejack Diner and it won't be my last! It's a small diner and usually always busy but you get seated in a good time. The manager or owner is always really cool and friendly! The food is always great and the prices are fair! The restaurant is clean and cozy. I ordered the Pancakes with sausage, bacon and ham! It's so good I recommend it to any breakfast lover!

Great hospitality. Pleasant diner atmosphere. Service was prompt and friendly. Food was very tasty. We had the lunch Gyro platter special, one was beef, the other was chicken. Ample servings for both of us. Tzatziki sauce was good. The pita was soft and fluffy. The fries were golden brown and cooked perfectly. The entire meal came out piping hot. Highly recommend!

Everything from the food to the service was fabulous... and someone who loves dinners Ian highly picky about taste and service- this dinner knocks it put off the park!!!! Ambiance- it's clean.

I didn't even know this place existed and it was around the corner from the hotel. We stayed up all weekend long. Breakfast was good solid breakfast food. The coffee was perfect diner coffee. The staff was attentive. The prices were reasonable. My only concern? I got the French toast with bacon. Two pieces of French toast. Regular sandwich bread sized and it was $18. I understand New York prices by sure. But a third piece would've made it bearable. I still ate it all. I would still be back.

Kinda bland omelette compared to home but hey it's NYC

Quick stop in after a work out here. Huge menu selection. I got a chicken omelette(mediocre). Anything else added was extra $. I would go back to try the bison burger. Another bland omelette, no.

I ordered the burger, and honestly, I'm still thinking about it. It was cooked perfectly, incredibly juicy, and served on a soft, pillowy bun that brought everything together. The bistro itself is very nicely lit. I almost felt like I was in a movie. I had the Turkish eggs and a side of Bourbon glazed bacon. The chili-drizzled poached eggs sat on a bed of yogurt nestled against triangles of thin flatbread. Very hearty and filling for someone who was on their feet all day. The bacon was such a treat. I was afraid they would be soggy from the glaze or a little too sweet but it was the absolute perfect balance of both. My friend tried out the chicken and waffles and I was almost jealous that I hadn't ordered that. After being given a piece to try, I can confidently say that the Belgian waffle had the nicest crispy exterior and a beautifully fluffy inside. The chicken was such a wonderful savory pairing to the not too sweet waffle. The iced coffee was a nice side pairing. The pumpkin spice flavor was the perfect amount of sweet without being overpowering. I will be returning soon!

Think vintage wallpaper, little knick-knacks, and warm lighting. It's got character. I ordered the market salad with mixed greens, honeycrisp apples, goat cheese, candied pecans, and sherry vinaigrette. It was a hearty portion - super fresh and flavorful, and honestly more than I could finish (not a complaint!). I also ordered a Diet Pepsi with grenadine; they don't carry Diet Coke, which I almost docked a point for, but the mix was unexpectedly delicious. Highly recommend it. My date ordered the hanger steak and said it was absolutely amazing. Only hiccup: his first glass of wine he got came out hot... like, microwave-level warm. Fortunately, the server brought a new (cold) one and the rest of the meal was smooth sailing. Service was friendly, the vibe was homey and relaxed, and the food was solid across the board. Would definitely come back, especially for that salad and another round of grenadine magic.

It was our first time eating at a Friedman's location. It had a nice diner feel to it, with a mix of booths and tables. The brunch menu has a variety of breakfast items, salads, sandwiches and burgers, starters, and entrees (fish tacos, grain bowl, fried chicken). I like that several of the items are naturally gluten free, and some can be made gluten free by request. We decided to go with three breakfast items from the brunch menu: I got the shakshuka, my sister got the Nova Benny, and we got the lemon ricotta pancakes to share. All 3 dishes were great. The shashuka came with grilled ciabatta, perfect for dipping into the sunny side eggs and tomato sauce. My sister loved that the poached eggs and smoked salmon of the Nova Benny came on top of a crispy potato latke. The pancakes were fluffy and the lemon ricotta and lemon zest elevated their flavor. Our server was friendly and attentive, and he asked us if we had any allergies when he took our order. He came by several times to check on us and refill water. I would return to Friedman's when I'm in the Herald Square area, or check out one of their other locations in the city.

We also wanted to try a classic pastrami on rye--but without committing to the long lines at Katz's Delicatessen. Sarge's ended up being the perfect alternative, just a quick five-minute walk from our hotel. We arrived around 5:00 pm on a Sunday and were seated right away, which already felt like a win. The meal started with coleslaw and both a half sour and full sour pickle--such a classic deli touch, and a great way to kick things off. I ordered the half sandwich with matzah ball soup, and the portion sizes were no joke. The soup alone could have been a full meal: a huge bowl with an equally massive matzah ball. The broth was warm and soothing, and the matzah ball was incredibly light with a perfect texture. The half pastrami on rye was just as impressive. Even "half" was stacked high with flavorful, tender pastrami. Adding a bit of mustard from the table brought everything together--it was simple, classic, and exactly what I was hoping for. Not only was it one of the more reasonably priced meals of the trip, but it was also genuinely satisfying. If you're looking for a no-fuss, traditional deli experience without the wait, Sarge's is a great option.
