What an unexpected surprise on a rainy Tuesday afternoon followed by an even more unexpected yet pleasant experience at Helzberg Diamonds. We decided to browse their selection of engagement rings and to inquire about custom designs, production time, and warranty but got so much more during our visit. Dominic took his time to complete a sizing, explain the history of the store and all it has to offer. His coworker took the time to walk us through the custom design process from start to finish using Helzberg's online platform. The options for a custom design is endless. They are able to create rings from ideas, photos, or the likes using the CAD system to create exactly what you want it and how you want it. I've never been to a Helzberg Diamonds before this day but based the customer service, attention to detail and professionalism, these things made me happy to have decided to choose this jeweler to assist with finding the perfect engagement ring. read more

Recently moved into the area, this was our first time to this Helzberg. We went into Helzberg for our biannual ring inspection and cleaning, we won't be going back to this Helzberg. We had a few issues: 1. Associates were not courteous after discovering we weren't purchasing anything. 2. Very poor ring cleaning, grime stuck in ring (see picture). 3. We provided the associate our inspection card, they looked at it and handed it back. They are supposed to fill it out...otherwise what's the point of us taking it for an inspection if it's not properly annotated. We have been to Helzbergs from coast to coast and this was the worst. If the store was busy I would understand the poor cleaning however we were the ONLY customers in the store. read more

Similar to other reviews, the customer service is piss poor unless you are buying a high ticket item. I was greeted by heart eyes until they realized I was not looking to get a ring, then I was passed along to other associates in the store. Even when you are beware. Once came in to this location to look and try on engagement rings to get a sense of my style but after trying to leave the salesman came in like sharks trying to influence the purchase. When trying to return an item this time, the entire sales team had to get involved and I was treated with major huffs and side eyes from the employees. If you like being coerced into a purchase where they try to leave the jewelry on you until you "fall in love with it" this is the spot for you. If you must go to Helzberg, I suggest the outlet mall in Bowie, MD where the customer service is amazing even if the store is packed and they cater to your own wants rather than being predatory for the sake of their sales commission. read more

Great experience working with Helzberg Diamonds! I brought in a ring and loose diamond (both purchased elsewhere) to be mounted. The staff was friendly, professional and didn't act like my request was a burden given I hadn't purchased the ring from them (as their competitors had acted). They quickly verified my diamond and got me set up. They were able to have my ring ready the next day for a $50 rush fee. For comparison, other jewelers had quoted me a over week to a month to simply mount a stone. There was one small miscommunication. They didn't charge me a fee upfront for doing work on a ring not purchased at their location, but they called the next day to apologize and explain. The stone was well set and looks great! Very pleased with their efficiency and professionalism. As a bonus, they were complimentary about my ring and didn't try to sell me anything or push one of their products. Another jeweler had denigrated my ring in an effort to push his own rings, so it was nice not to have to deal with that at Helzberg. It was our first time looking at engagement rings, so we were not very educated when we first went. We were talking about rings and prices and just very shocked at the prices (our first time looking, so we didn't know what to expect). I'm not the most experienced person with this company, but my experience was positive. I came here as the recipient of a surprise gift. Needless to say I left out very happy girl. The sales people were all polite. The guy who assisted me was absolutely wonderful. He was not pushy,he did not hover,nor did he try to upsell me. I know a bit about gems and such, but he was more than happy to give me an in-depth education. In which I was all ears and grateful. I really like the fact that he was extremely down-to-earth and not stuck up. Nor was I treated like a second-class citizen and sized up like a potential ATM as I was in gym clothes. This has happened to me at other establishments in the past. I was surprised to learn they have an appraiser that comes in. Which is wonderful as I have several pieces that are in need of an appraisal as their value has potential to inflate. Also some of the pieces here and come with a certificate of authenticity which is wonderful. Do not let the word "diamonds" possibly deter you from visiting. They have a nice assortment of other gems and other quality metals. So even if diamonds are not in your immediate budget you can get something else. They have some beautiful Swarovski Crystal and silver pieces which were very reasonable priced and quite beautiful. I would definitely come here again. read more

The store manager, Asaad is truly phenomenal. He is a class act! We were initially very disappointed as my boyfriend realized that the engagement ring that he had put on layaway with another associate was not certified. The woman was extremely helpful, but she advised my boyfriend and I that our ring was certified when it was actually not. However, I will give her the benefit of the doubt as she may have been confused as we were looking at several rings. Yet, this is still not an excuse when making such a significant financial investment. We ended up selecting a beautiful diamond ring that was of excellent quality in the masterpiece collection. Asaad helped us find the wedding band and ring of my dreams. It is likely that we may never need to upgrade. I must emphasize that I was difficult to please. Asaad was patient and worked very hard to answer all of my questions. He worked with Filli to make sure that we were happy with our investment. I truly respect that he did not try to make my boyfriend spend unnecessary money. He was very honest and respectful. I trust Helzberg Diamonds, because of Asaad. I just want to add an addition to my review. After getting engaged, I have been in Pentagon City and I conveniently stop by Helzberg to get my ring cleaned. Helzberg diamonds successfully ruined my entire engagement ring buying experience. What should be one of the most exciting times became one of stress and anger and tears. My fiancé and I went in to Helzburg looking for an engagement ring. We sat with Sonila who helped us pick a stone that was set in one ring already, plus a band I had a preference for. She told me that the ring was a 4 carat weight emerald cut Moissenite stone. The buying process there went fairly smoothly. As my fiancé was checking out I asked Sonila what's the return policy is for this ring that they would have to create. I very specifically asked because I didn't want to get stuck with a ring that I potentially wouldn't like once it was put together. She told both me, my fiancé and a friend of mine that there was a 60 day moneyback guarantee on all purchases. Fast forward to my fiancé picking up the ring a few days later. We paid extra for an in-store independent appraisal and thank god we did. The appraiser let us know the center Stone was only measuring at 3 carat weight, that the basket for the Stone was 14k gold, and center stone cut was radiant. All of these facts were different from what we were told when we purchased the ring. Which begins to feel shady. We had ordered a platinum basket for the center stone so he asked our sales lady about it. Our receipt even said platinum! The answer that my fiancé got back was "oh, well it would have been way more expensive for a platinum basket". Completely ignoring the fact that it what we ordered and they set the price at check out several days ago. When I got the ring immediately I noticed that the stone was sitting in the basket at an angle, and that there was a gap between the basket and the band of the ring. Overall the quality of workmanship to transfer the stone into the new band was some of the worst that I've ever seen. The ring was very visibly crooked when it was on my hand. My fiancé and I decided that this was not going to meet the standard that I expected for my forever ring so he attempted to take it back the next day. To make a long story short the store manager said they don't offer returns on custom rings (even with the sales lady admitting to him that's what she told us). I had very specifically asked about returns when we bought the as we were making over a $5,000 commitment to a ring I had never seen and I was told all the $$ could be given back. After days of run around with the store manager they agreed to refund everything except the $299 cost of the labor to move the stone to a new band and the cost of the basket $150. So i total my fiancé is out $500 for a ring that was returned. This is a franchised business and is run more with the profit in mind than with a customer satisfaction model. I'm so saddened that this is now a part of my engagement story. If you are looking for quality workmanship, and a company that stands behind their word this is NOT the place to go. read more

My wife and I have worked with this store four separate times for five different pieces of jewelry and everytime it has gone well. We have worked with Jasmine each time and she and other associates have been helpful throughout each process. I hate incessant sales pitches and that has been limited at this store. Jasmine will throw it out there and say, "come back for an upgrade I'm two years...," but she doesn't hound us. The only negatives I have are (1) the stores turn around or handling of transactions is a little longer than expected. But I say this without any experience buying an engagement rings elsewhere. And (2) their system has been a finicky each time we have come in: they can't locate my account in one place with one number and it's not in the other system with another number, this issue has been a headache each time. I don't know why they found me one way but not another. Maybe Mr. Buffet needs to invest in some system upgrades for their database of accounts. read more

Our rings were TWICE sized wrong, which meant three trips to the store, one 24 hours before leaving for our wedding where my husband waited for the on-sight resizing which still didn't fit and left marks on his finger. Cool, you like the ring, lets see if we can get a reasonable price, call in, and ask if negotiable? Answer: Poor attitude plus very belittling answer...asked for manager so I could see if it was just a misunderstanding, didn't ask for my information, just said it's near mothers day, and she's busy. 2) Similar daimond ratings, ctw, and same number of stones in the ny daimond district will run in the $400-$600 range, I know there's a lot of margin, but don't want to go to NY. I call the 800 number say, here's ring, here's price, this is my $175 promo code, can you find somewhere between net price and efficient market price...comes back with $15 off and free ship. Didn't listen to a thing I said. 3) Back to retail, just need to get it off the list, so we go to make sure fitting/but ring at retail store...well first off, having your screen position to show employee price is $500 adds insult to injury. Second, a VERY clear no not interested in insurance should be sufficient to avoid the "3 no" procedure. Not the employees fault, but bad practice. I was just curious about my ring size, and I kept getting pestered to check mens rings. Again, stern no. sufficient. 4) Don't nickle and dime when you're already making $600 on a transaction. I get a total, and then a $40 fitting fee for it being custom fitted. A FREE service online, I ask if they can waive to just finish the transaction. Nope....well you got your several hundred from me, hopefully this review persuades to shop online alternatives, google promotion codes to hack a little of the profit, or encourages the company to be a little more mindful. read more

Called them twice before going to make sure they were able to do the 6 month inspections Helzberg requires for their insurance policy, both times I was told it wouldn't be a problem. Upon arriving I was then told that because they are an outlet store they wouldn't be able to inspect my ring. There's 45 min stuck in traffic that I'll never get back! read more

I waited for two months to post this review, to see if our issue would be resolved in a timely fashion. My husband and I purchased our wedding rings one month before our wedding (we purchased them early Sept, wedding date Oct 10th). The sales associate recommended that I custom order my band in a size 5 instead of having the jeweler resize it, as reducing the size by more than a few sizes could "alter the intergrity of the diamonds and the ring". She assured us the rings would arrive the week of our wedding. But my ring did not. Instead, they sized the display ring for me, charged my credit card for the ring, and told us to return in a few weeks to have the transaction refunded once my custom order arrived. The ring finally arrived at the end of October (3 weeks after it was supposed to), but the store manager was "unable" to refund the purchase. Basically, we had to appear three times in person, had two charges and two wrong refunds, multiple phone calls (one store associate hung up on me), and it is still not resolved. It should be a simple refund, but due to the incompetence of this store's manager and their associates, it has turned into an 8-week headache and I had to involve their corporate headquarters. I would beware of this store and take your purchase elsewhere. read more

So happy with Helzberg Diamond at Fashion Center . I have a beautiful brooch from this store and wore it for the first time on Thanksgiving. It fell off my dress and landed on the road as we walked across the street in Georgetown. A car ran over it and crushed the clasp. I was devastated. I returned with it to Helzberg hoping they could do something for me. I could not have been happier with the friendly service I received.
