Over the years, we've worked with local contractors to ensure her home is safe and functional, as she rents out rooms and needs everything working efficiently. Recently, my mom called me about her kitchen sink, which was slow-draining and backing up. My husband, an experienced plumber, guided her through a few steps before recommending a professional drain cleaning, as her older home had never had one. We contacted Henco, hoping for a reliable solution. Visit 1: Henco's team performed a full drain cleaning, inspecting all fixtures, including the kitchen sink. The service cost $800, which we found reasonable, but they tried upselling her on additional services. Despite their cleaning, her sink still drained slowly. For the price, they should have ensured the kitchen drain issue was resolved before leaving. Visit 2: She called them again about the unresolved issue. This time, they spent minimal time diagnosing, took photos in her crawl space, and left her with a lengthy $15,000 quote, insisting on a full repipe of the house. This was concerning, as most of the plumbing was already replaced a few years ago. They refused to tie into the existing work, which is a standard practice in plumbing, claiming they wouldn't guarantee it. However, the section they referred to wasn't even active or tied into current fixtures. This small section could have been swapped with less than $100 in materials and a few minutes of work. Concerning Practices: They claimed the cast iron pipes needed replacement due to "severe deterioration," but photos showed normal oxidation--nothing unsafe or leaking. They included a photo of a rotted pipe that wasn't even from her home. It showed a basement area with drywall and framing, but my mom's basement is all cement. Misrepresenting evidence like this is unacceptable. They pressured her to agree to their overpriced quote on the spot and sign up for financing. The Real Issue: My husband and I drove down to assess the problem ourselves. It turned out her garburator (waste disposal) was faulty. My husband removed it, replaced the piping under the sink, and upgraded the 1" drains to 1.5" drains. This simple fix solved the issue entirely--her sink now drains perfectly. It cost $130 in material purchased from Home Depot and took less than an hour to complete. If my mom had relied solely on Henco's "expert advice," she would've spent $15,000 unnecessarily. They clearly took advantage of her kindness and the fact she's a single woman managing a household on her own. Henco's team sounded knowledgeable and used the right terminology, but their practices were deceptive and predatory. I can't recommend them based on this experience. Hired for annual services, then fired after one visit. Reason: Technician reported a gas leak in our furnace. We approved repair but did not ask about price. Nothing had to be removed or replaced. The technician put a little blue sealant around the pipe and then performed a bubble test. This took 5 - 10 minutes and we were charged $379.78 (that is about $2300.00 on an hourly basis). No parts, just a little labor. We asked for an immediate refund of the annual services = $239.00. No response from the company. Their pricing formulas appear to be high. read more

I had an appalling experience with Henco where they tried to price gouge me. After paying them to hydro-jet my sewer line, they tried to convince me to spend $3,500 to install a sewer line clean out. The next day, I had a different company come and quote the job, and they found a pre-existing clean out within 5 minutes of arriving on site. I have spent over $25,000 with Henco across two houses, and I'm incredibly insulted that they would try and price gouge a loyal customer. I will never use this company again. read more

I got a quote from them on replacing my shower faucet, which had snapped off. The guy said the handle was no longer available (which was incorrect), and replacing the valve would require cutting a big hole in my shower, and be one to two hours work, and they charged around $300 an hour. So i figured $300-600. Then his quote was $1200, which seemed like a rip off. Then I got a quote from another plumbing company on here, and they quoted only $350-800 for the same job, depending on whether they'd need to cut a larger hole to replace the valve, which they said may not even be needed since the bolts might be within reach. They also then directed me to a store where I found the replacement handle that was supposedly not available anymore. So the final fix was $10 instead of $1200! read more

We had a stopped toilet at our preschool. They were here for 2 hours and charged $1200. They were going to charge us $93 if we turned them away after giving us the quote. The kids needed their toilet running. They removed baby wipes from the drain. Next they said that they would not bill us and we had to pay immediately. Our toilet is flushing now. We have been supremely disappointed with our instant tankless hot water heater installed by Henco. It has been months now where we barely have any hot water for showers and our hot water pressure is miserably low. We spent near $10,000 on replacing our hot water heater with a high-end tankless system and we have had no support in getting us even back to where we were prior to the new installation. Our old hot water heater wasn't fantastic nor very efficient however at least we had a hot water for showers. We have called Henco on multiple occasions without any resolution. They have told us to buy new filters and other things that make no sense to resolve the problems that they have actually created. I strongly suggest avoided this company. Context: I called Henco out to service a blower fault on our water heater (with our water supply also powering our hydronic house heating). The person on the phone was great and said they could get someone out quickly and that there would be no call out charge with us being a first time customer.They did warn that we'd have to pay for the techs' time if it wasn't a quick diagnosis (which is reasonable). The diagnosis was not quick (~2 hours) and included placing a call for a warranty with our water heater manufacturer. The part was not available locally, so I told them I'd drive the 3 hours each way to pick it up on Monday morning when the supply store opened, if we opted to go the repair route. Additionally, we asked them for a quote for a full new service install with something more appropriate for domestic hot water + home heating. The quote sent for repair work was $360 for the first day of diagnosis (2 hours of time for 2 techs) and another $725 for installation once the blower was here. They provided a quote for the full install over the weekend but it was sized for a house half of our size. I flagged the issue and the tech agreed, so I opted to go the repair route while they prepared a right-sized full install quote. I drove the 6 hours on Monday morning to pick up the part and received no response when I told them I was back with the part and hoping to get hot water and heating back on (in 40F temperatures). Following the advice of other hot water service technicians I'd reached out to, I proceeded to spend the 15 minutes to install the blower myself (not sure why they had that listed as $725 worth of work). I let them know that I no longer needed them to come out for repair, but to continue with the full install quote as our system is at the end of life and desperately needs replacing. Without any conversation, my bill jumped from $361.90 to $561.90 with no additional work being done and that still being just the cost of 2 techs for 2 hours with no parts. For as knowledgeable and kind as the techs were, this was a terrible experience and I have 0 intention of working w/ Henco again. They repeatedly ignored outreach and increased the bill without any conversation. I strongly suggest you avoid this company. read more

Correspondence with Henco is difficult, at best. Great customer service dictates a prompt response to email messages, even if an immediate resolution is not possible. I have used Henco several times before and really liked them. But today they gave me a quote for replacing JUST THE KITCHEN FAUCET and it was over $900 bucks. I declined bc I couldn't afford it, and got charge a $95 service fee (for him coming out and giving me a quote.) I still have a broken sink and am out almost $100. I am so bumbed. About half a year ago, they replaced both my toilets and charge me $800 per toilet (which included the toilets and all the work). So I assumed a faucet replacement would be way cheaper. Boy was I wrong. Almost $1000 for someone to take out the old faucet hardware (not the sink) and put in a new one. WOW! I'm done with Henco. I'll look for another service to use in the future. Although there was a slight problem with scheduling it was handled immediately. The technician, Ricky May called ahead and arrived within the agreed upon window. He was friendly, personable and knowledgeable. He told me exactly what he was going to do, and when done, explained all projected charges. The total was SO close to what I'd anticipated I agreed on the spot. 'Turns out that we had a good size clog in the main drain line, but Ricky was able to clear it - Such a relief! So I had to get a couple things fixed from a inspection of my house that I was selling. I needed a new hose bib on the back of my house and the piping underneath the kitchen sink redone. The guy who did the work was a young guy named Zach and he was absolutely fantastic! I really couldn't believe how quickly (just a couple of hours) he did all that work. New strainer installed in the sink and all new pipes and elbows and connections under my sink and it looks great. To fix the hose bib, he had to cut into the drywall behind my dryer to access the pipe. He cut into it, threaded in the new pipe and attached the new valve to the back of my house and then put the drywall patch back in place. It would have taken me a couple days to do all this and it wouldn't look nearly as nice as everything did after he finished his work. And like I said, it was all in a couple hours and cost a lot less than I expected. Highly recommend Henco and Zach to anybody needing some plumbing work done. read more

Hired Henco plumbing to remove my current hot water heating system (I had two hot water heaters) and replace with a tankless hot water heater. Prior to the work being performed I spoke with them about the electrical. They said they would be using the outlet so no need to contact an electrician. They finished the install and departed. A day later I found that they left the 22o volt exposed wires just hanging. The wires were hot and not properly secured. They never said anything about the electrical. If I had not found it, someone could have been really hurt or my home could have burnt down. Prior to finding the wires I had them scheduled for a second job. I cancelled the second job after finding the wires, as I do not want them to work on my plumbing after making such a huge mistake. However, they sent me an invoice for the work they did not complete with a forged signature accepting the work. Very suspect business practices. I would not recommend hiring Henco Plumbing. read more
