Property Overall The castle is absolutely impressive. Its architecture and character command attention, and the atmosphere is unmatched. I didn't make it up to the rooftop this time due to weather and spa guests, but that view is on my list for next visit. Dining Experience The culinary experience was top-notch, and the staff delivered attentive, professional service. Breakfast - free for hotel customers! The tower presentation was a bold and elegant touch--unique and memorable. The selection was fresh and flavorful, setting the tone for the day. Also Mimosas!! Henderson Castle is a beautiful mansion that was built in the 1800's by Frank Henderson. It is now a Bed and Breakfast , event space and restaurant. We stopped in just to see the inside. The foyer is very grand and gives you the impression you stepped back into time. There was a large, ornate mirror and crystal chandelier. They allowed us to roam around and go into any room that was open The suites that we saw were unique ., They have original flooring , murals and antique beds with thick, ornate bedspreads. I am glad we had a chance to view the inside and walk the grounds. read more

Our experience at Henderson Castle was absolutely magical! We took part in the Spa Pampering Package for Two (thank you Groupon!), which included high tea, an hour in the rooftop hot tub, and an hour massage. Starting with our tea, they were super high quality, and the pastries and sandwiches that came with it made the perfect pairing. We got to pick our spot and had a beautiful view of the property during our tea time. Next we went up to our spa room to get ready for the hot tub. The view from the top of the castle looks out over all of Kalamazoo and is really peaceful. The package included chocolate covered strawberries and champagne during this relaxation time. Afterwards, we had our massages. Our masseuses, Bob and Tre, were very skilled, and a pleasure to work with. Afterward, we wandered a bit to check out the open rooms and more of the property. We went to have a tour to this "castle?". We had a coupon for tour, wine tasting, and something to eat. The tour you do it alone. Nobody goes with you to explain anything. You go to their web and they explained it so you have to have your phone with you. The decor was very eclectic and some things didn't match with what was supposed to be in the 1800s?? Two rooms were closed so we couldn't see them. We went to have the wine tasting and they put wine in little tiny liquor glasses. Not wine glasses. The wines tasted cheap. The food consisted in three tiny pieces of hard cheese, a few chocolate chips, some walnuts and three pieces of salami inside a cup of champagne. Not a plate, a cup. It was neither good nor well presented. The tour that we did alone was $24 per person. The tasting with the food $28 per person. Horrible wines. Horrible food. Horrible tour. If you want to see a castle go to Europe. This is just a house on a hill with many rooms and two little towers. Totally a rip off. Don't waste your time or your money. read more

Giving this a generous 3/5 rating. I'll try to make this as succinct as possible. We got this as a gift from family, who purchased a Groupon. We had to call to book, which was an absolute nightmare. It took 3 of us calling as well as emailing over multiple days to get an appointment scheduled. Manager apologized and said they are training new people. The Groupon doesn't cover everything, so we had to pay around $20 for the "tax" of the castle upon arrival. We also had to pay for the massage tip (which is optional). We had the option of hot tub or sauna for an hour and then our couples massage. We chose hot tub, which was on the roof. The view was nice and enjoyable. The hot tub was "meh". Not super hot and the hot tub itself seemed dated. We didn't stay up the full time but did enjoy the scenery. Our massage therapists were nice. I feel like management should invest in more "massage specific" items, such as proper under the leg pillows (rather than normal pillows) and proper sheets for the face rest (rather than draping a sheet and making an air pocket/air hole). The floor was kind of dirty and I found a toothpick and vacuum head on the floor in the room. I also thought it was a little odd that the window was open where we got changed with no blinds, given the fact the nearby houses could probably see in. First time o wrote a review for someplace I was only in for 5 minutes! Stopped in hoping for a wine tasting. Was told next wine tasting was all full and it begins in 20 mins. Told we could come back but no guarantee they could reserve us a spot. Then we were offered a "discounted tour" for 24.00 each for a house! Really seemed like our presence at the house was unwanted. And I'm sorry I don't see any reason why anyone would spend 24.00 on a tour of a house. The "host" at the door was very unhelpful and could have done more to keep us there/engaging us. read more

We booked a couples massage and the experience fell short of expectations. Both therapists appeared inexperienced. My therapist smelled strongly of cigarettes and was chewing gum throughout the session. The massage also felt incomplete. Not all areas were addressed before the session ended. My partner's massage ended with karate chopping on the back....While we were able to laugh it off afterward, we did not leave feeling relaxed. Additionally, the spa is located on the third floor with no elevator. This impacts accessibility and should be clearly noted during the booking process. read more

After being threatened that if we didn't take down the negative social media posts the owner would charge is for the dilapidated window that fell out upon opening we changed our card number and reported it stolen. On June 12 he charged for a $515 stay without authorization, and I assure you we did not- and will never- stay there again. The grounds are pretty, although it's right near a freeway so if sitting outside it's pretty loud. We sat outside because we had our dog, which is nice that they are dog friendly, but it's super buggy so if they offer outside seating then have citronella candles or some other bug repellent. But the biggest complaints were the service and quality of food for the pricing. After being seated we were served water right away but after 30 mins no one had come back out to take our drink orders or appetizer orders. After going in and asking, waitress said she forgot about us. Ok 1 mistake, but then I ordered soup and salad and after another 30 mins she still hadnt brought my salad. She forgot again!! I mean the place wasn't even busy, only 2 other tables inside the restaurant! And then finally the food was just very mediocre. Nothing special at all. Lettuce was super wilted on my salad. It was a disappointment given I was celebrating my birthday. We didn't even order dessert as that would've taken longer still so went to Baskin Robbins instead. lol. I'll sum this up quickly. I would never stay here or eat here again. My husband and I stayed for our wedding night and they instantly had a problem with the tub in our room and said we couldn't use it until it was fixed. The tub was the only good part of the room. However, later the handy man did fix it and that was a blessing. Other than that, there's no trash in the room or the bathroom (which is basically the same room, at least in maple room i don't know about other rooms) so if you are a woman with a period, no you aren't. Out of luck. The bar downstairs had two bartenders that had no idea how to make a drink or where to even find the alcohol. Took them 30+ minutes to serve my husband, and one other couple. That's three drinks in thirty minutes. Insane. We went to dinner in the chophouse in the castle after that and the food was not very good. It was like they made up something random to give me because they didn't have what I originally asked for or what my husband asked for. The tomato bisque was good though, but that's just for pre meal. The desert we got a chocolate mousse that must have been months upon months old. Tasted musty and moldy. I had half a bite and choked that down and left the rest, my husband couldn't stand to eat it either. It was dry, hard, and falling apart in weird rock like chunks. I mean it, it was the oldest cake I've ever tasted. God awful. $100 for the whole meal. In the morning we decided to skip out on breakfast after our dinner experience. I took one last bath and then got dressed and heard a key in the door and a woman opened the door. Pretty sure it was the maid. She didn't knock, didn't speak, no "room service!" Nothing. Just entered like you would enter your own home. Crazy. Then she said "ohh sorry." And closed the door. That kind of what was the cherry on top for me. I let everything else go, but that's just insane. We weren't staying past check out or anything either. And you can hear everything inside the room and outside. I find it difficult to believe that she couldn't hear us talking. Be aware if you stay here, it is an old building. So you can hear everything. Bouncing, rocking, walking, talking, among other things... you can hear it. That wasn't really a huge issue though. Just the other things mainly. Anyway! Got sick from the food, shocker. When pointed it out to my waitress she apologized and took it to the back, later she says, she didn't see anything wrong with it, show i showed my photo, she said the chef didn't see anything either. they took the $8 broccoli off the bill, LOL. Lost my appetite so I obviously didn't finish my meal, I asked the waitress to show the chef, she said she believed me. paid my $145 bill for one and asked to speak to the chef/owner. No balls to come out from the back. Just a quick history here, in 2017 I had my 10 year wedding renewal here, rented the whole place and it was wonderful. 2 years layer tried to have an anniversary weekend there.... horrible, told them I'd never come back, I was called years later to give them another chance, this was it. stay clear of this place. The owner won't take any accountability, blames the staff and is a coward and cannot handle his own business, rather hide in the kitchen than to apologize for being a bad "chef". read more

What began with high expectations turned into the most disappointing brunch. Poor service and substandard food. We had to ask for hot coffee twice ( luke warm doesn't cut it ), plastic creamer packages thrown on the table, stale croissants with no butter or jam and not delivered until 1/2 way through brunch. Royal eggs not poached and sauce looked as though it had been dumped on top. The sauce was way too salty and appeared curdled. The Bellini and Mimosa were the only thing enjoyable. Dinner and drinks at a castle. Yes! The entrance was well marked, and on this particular day someone was having a 70th birthday party so the house was full of laughter and love. Parking it tight and if you are able to drive an SUV or car vers a truck I would because if parking. We arrived around 6pm as a walk in for dinner. We sat at the wine bar and enjoyed a flight while we waited. Learned that Henderson Castle has a vineyard and makes their own wine so getting that flight was a great choice. We loved their Castle Red and Riesling the best. Even bought a bottle to enjoy at Thanksgiving. Price was extremely reasonable. Absolutely loved the ceiling of the 18th century BC Greek Gods displayed with the zodiac. The atmosphere was cozy, the bar seat was a round bar and the staff was pleasant and knowledgeable about the property. Was told a student from Kalamazoo college actually painted the ceiling. Impressive. When it was time for dinner Lauren was our waitress. She was bright, fun, fast and huddled through the night. We both had steak x potatoes, and veggies with a glass of the castle red for dinner. Appetizer of a shrimp cocktail, salad and I had the lobster bisque. Salad was refreshing, the soup great temperature with good flavor, and the shrimps were big and meaty. The steak was cooked perfectly. We gobble it all up plus had room to enjoy the chocolate cake! Thank you Lauren for the suggestion. It brought the entire meal full circle. We didn't feel rushed, and we enjoyed that the staff stopped by the check in on us often. Very friendly atmosphere. Wished we booked a room to stay because it was hard to leave. Definitely a place worth checking out and somewhere I will be back. So I'll start off we decided to go to Henderson Castle for their New Years Eve bash. We went in with high hopes, the exterior of the Castle and interior are gorgeous. But that's kind of where it ends there. It didn't start off great when we pulled up to the castle and we're told we need to find parking somewhere on the street. Which is kind of pain especially with the hill the castle sits on and the fact it's in a residential neighborhood. We walked into the entrance and were mislead to believe it was fancier than it was. The dining room on the first floor was large and inviting with barely anyone seated. We were then lead up to the very tip top of the Castle in the "ballroom". It was a makeshift restaurant style area with table and chairs. Our booth was placed directly in front of a guests room. We kept worrying someone would walk out. Our cocktails and food were late to come out. At one point our waiter disappeared and we never saw him again. The rest of the time dining we had I'm assuming the manager bringing food to our table. The invite stated 7 course meal. I'm sorry but I've been to restaurants ran by Michelin star chefs bread & butter is not a course. The beef Wellington was good, but thats kind of where the dining experience drops off. We surprised to find that there was a 20% gratuity added to the bill at the end. This was surprising as we had prepaid with our tickets. With much huffing we paid the bill for the 4 drinks we ordered, plus gratuity. Again the person who I'm assuming was the manager took our friends card then disappeared. We were the last guests in the dining room as they were converting it into a dance floor, but the manager had not returned. We had to ask the wait staff where her card was. Finally the manager returned looking flustered. Then we started going on the "scavenger hunt". Which was not as fun as hoped, the Castle is a large house but we were only allowed to enter rooms if a door was already open. So we were relagated to hallways and stairwells. Apparently they had also booked out the whole castle with guests staying the night. I did actually enjoy the roof with it's very scenic views of Kalamazoo. But it was freezing cold with no sort of space heaters or any kind of warmth. We went downstairs trying to find a common area to sit with our friends and chat. The problem was the front entrance and parlor were packed with people so we kind of had to awkwardly stand around. Once the bar was finally open we decided to grab some drinks. My friend and I decided to just get some domestic beers, paid with cash but apparently they couldn't give change. I found it more weird they weren't charging an even amount for drinks especially when the menu stated $7 beers. I would've liked to just plop cash down then throw a few bucks in the tip jar. After that we awkwardly shuffled through the castle never really finding a spot to sit and be comfortable. We also tried to look into the gift shop. Apparently this was where they were staging all the desserts which I don't think would fly with the health dept. Also talking with most of the wait staff they were either unfamiliar with how the castle operated or it was their "first day". Lastly I decided to go back to the bar and ordered one of their signature drinks. The bartender took what felt like 10min to find how much the drink cost and the drink came in the same size cup as one you get when on a 2hr flight. We ended up leaving and not staying for the balldrop. In summary I think the place has good bones and the experience could've been better, but they REALLY need to raise the bar on their service. Maybe limit the tickets more and don't book out the rooms for New Years Eve so visitors have an opportunity to see the castle instead of being awkwardly stuck in the corner wondering what time it was. read more

The castle is beautiful! Very lovely to walk around & look at all the decor & craftsmanship on this lovely building. The only thing going for this visit was the view & the company. Do not bother having dinner-tasteless, extremely overpriced meal. Our room was on the third floor. It is a very odd lay out but given the age of the building, you can see why. But the room. Arg. It just felt dirty. The bed was hard as a rock. The tub was not cleaned very well. No tissue is provided, extra pillows, blankets---our room was freezing. No spare of anything. You can hear traffic & the rest of the guests in the house. I did not like that there was no lock on the door to the patio. Again, just felt & looked unclean in the room. They do have house slippers in your room-with the though they come with the price of the room----nope, be sure not to take them or you will be charged. There is not a note posted about them-we asked. We can check off staying here----no ghost viewings for us. But we would not return or recommend. Very disappointed. read more

I don't even know where to begin with this one. My husband and I went to celebrate our 10th anniversary, thinking that this would be a nice dinner out. We got there a little early, thinking we could walk the grounds and have a cocktail. The bar was completely not stocked absolutely crazy and the bartender had to keep going back-and-forth at least five times to find anything, almost comical. Then we get to the worst part, the food. I ordered sea scallops thinking that they were going to be large scallops. The scallops were tiny, bay scallop size and only 5 on the plate, and way overcooked. The salad was horrendous and beyond basic. The bread was the best part and I'm pretty sure they got it from Costco, the dessert was laughable. They called it a mousse , but all I could taste was baked egg like texture. Not mousse. The house wine tasted like vinegar. Not sure if it was the vinegar wine or scallops , but I got violently sick about 2 hours after dinner. The gift that kept on giving. Booked through Booking.com for $156.75 a night, then noticed I was charged $173.87- an OVERAGE of $17.12. I called the hotel before check in to let them know and they said they'd fix it at checkin, at checkin the "manager" wasn't there and was told I had to wait for CHECKOUT for this to be fixed. At Checkout I spoke to Cat the "manager" who assured it'd be fixed within the next day. It wasn't fixed. I called, texted (because they do TEXT you asking when you'll be checking in) Facebook messaged, AND emailed them to get this fixed and they've ignored EVERY SINGLE CORRESPONDENCE. This establishment has other reports of overcharging by other guest. I had to dispute the overage with my credit card company. This place is a shady business who doesn't care about anything except money. On top of this overcharge, their "complimentary" breakfast is a joke. Seriously embarrassing. If i worked here, i couldn't serve this to people without feeling ashamed. So upon checkin they ask if you want to upgrade your complimentary breakfast, and we declined and said the complimentary was fine-and was asked if we wanted it brought to our room for an $8 fee- we declined, and said we'd come down for breakfast. So we come down to 2 sauce cups- literally sauce cups- like the plastic ones from Applebees- one filled with yogurt accompanied by stale granola bits, the other bland fruit bits, and a crusty stale croissant. The table had a "tip" sheet, as if they expected us to tip for this horrible food. This place has a lot of potential, but the current owners and management are horrible and this place should be on Hell Hotel with Gordan Ramsey. You should be absolutely ASHAMED of yourself. To say I am disappointed is an understatement. The Valentine's Day High Tea event failed in every way. If no stars was an option, I would have selected it. I am posting this after hoping to hear from the general manager. I sent an email and the same message sent via snail mail. I did not get a response. We arrived at 1:35 and waited with the other guests to be seated. There were 3 in my party, which seemed to perplex our host and further delay our seating. He asked us to leave the room so he could setup a table. The event was to start at 1:30pm. Cups with saucers, one single plate, and spotted glasses were preset. An iron was set out on a neighboring table and remained there during the event. Dinnerware from previous occasion was stacked at another table. Other tables were partially dressed - some with linen some without, some with glassware and some without. The majority of guests were seated at one large table and 9 of us were seated at 3 other tables. Three trays of 'treats' were placed on the 'main table'. Those of us sitting on the outskirts were informed to 'serve ourselves' and work our way between other guests to 'serve ourselves'. There were no serving utensils or tongs to use-fingers or forks only (from our own place setting). No attention paid to COVID restrictions. Mini-quiches and spanakopita can be served warm, but definitely not cold. Everything was cold-food to the room-except the tea, which the 3 of us shared one single pot (never refilled and served exactly 2.5 cups). The 3 of us shared the single plate too. I am actually incensed, which is shocking to me because I am usually the last person to complain! There was so much disappointment.... The two women dressed up as Elsa and Aurora were completely unengaged and lacked a single ounce of authenticity. Disheveled is the word. They spent the whole time speaking to each other and smiled occasionally when a child or adult caught their eye. The space was not prepared to host the event, let alone a tour. We toured a couple 'princess' rooms after passing through hallways with piles of dirty linen and cleaning supplies. While in the ballroom, and invited to dance around the tables and chairs set in the middle of the space, a couple cleaning people people rushed through wearing slippers. They emerged once carrying soiled linens through the space and guests. Another time one came into the ballroom to clear a table from what appeared to be leftovers. For the last 15 minutes of the event, the little girls danced together in a ring, which was the only, dare I call it 'highlight'. Much like the event itself, their dancing was unorganized and unplanned. That said, I was happy to see that these children made up for the complete and utter lack of entertainment from the hosts. First of all, please read all positive reviews of the Henderson Castle with a grain of salt. They offer to upgrade your breakfast from toast and eggs to a waffle if you leave a positive review. So I have to assume most of these positive reviews are a direct result of that. Two points I think all considering this place should know. 1. If you are considering staying here: understand that not all the rooms even have access to showers...while beautiful, there are many basic necessities like this not available that just won't meet most people's standards for the price they are asking. 2. If you hope to plan a wedding here know that it will be a tortuous experience where after signing a contract you will then have to fight tooth and nail for every item on the agreed upon list. I won't go too far into detail about the level of nightmare the planning of our event was but for highlights sake it resulted in a lawyers involvement and 2 different wedding coordinators either quitting due to miserable working conditions at the castle or being fired for showing up DRUNK and unprepared for a wedding. Forgetting to hire a DJ altogether from the sounds of it. The coordinator that quit went so far as to email all her clients basically warning them that the Henderson Castle was not qualified to host events of this size. We unfortunately did not listen to this coordinator and for fear of losing money went ahead with the wedding. The wedding was beautifully set up fortunately (purely thanks to outside vendors not the Castle) and thankfully with our friends and family there we were able to make it a lovely event. That said, in order for it to be successful (and I use that term loosely) bridal party attendees were required to serve the guests throughout the evening and the brides uncle had to step in to bar tend. A total of 6 staff were on hand for a 150+ person wedding. This included one waiter who ended up leaving at some point, 2 bartenders who were reportedly seen drinking and the coordinator herself (who was spotted sobbing at another point). 6 servers/bartender is wildly understaffed for an event of this size. It truly seemed as if they had never done a wedding before. The coordinator was clearly in way over her head (mostly due to lack of staff) and for unknown reasons was missing for large parts of the day. So many things went wrong with this wedding resulting in the brides parents being forced to pay huge additional sums of money to the castle just to ensure the event was possible to occur. In my opinion, Francois (the owner) is an absolute scam artist and after digging into the Castle's track record with events we are learning this is what Francois does. He wildly over exaggerates what he will provide for a wedding. Then when you get into the process and can't back out he nails you with huge additional fees. Fees for things like plates and cutlery. By the sounds of it he then spends months fighting off angry customers lawyers due to breach of contract. Please save yourself and your guests the headache of hosting an event at this location. I made a reservation thru Booking.com because after a week I could never get a hold of anyone at the hotel. Nobody answers the phone or emails. Booking.com quoted me a price and a timeline of a?week to cancel free of charge. I made a reservation and within hours my charge card was charged by the hotel. The amount charged was over $40 more than the quoted price. Again no response to phone calls/emails. Based on this I canceled my reservation with an email from Booking.com saying I canceled without charge. Had to file a dispute charge with my bank as Henderson Castle didn't refund the charge. Booking.com was great told me dont worry they will refund my money if hotel doesnt. Finally get a refund from hotel and they charged a $25.00 cancelation fee. Booking.com can't get a hold of them either but now fighting for the $25.00 with a hotel that doesn't answer their phone. BEWARE!!!!! read more

With a broken cottage door with all of our meds, phones, purse in and couldn't access, a planned massage that we COULDN'T physically do, we had to cancel because of some kind of severe sickness that happened when we were put in another room (possible gas leak, we were both having severe headaches and nausea and puking), and 4 weeks of trying to nicely solve the issue of reimbursement, I'm taking to yelp to tell the world do not book your stay here. We were never refunded money to the massage and not compensated for having to go without our meds and all of our money!! I would have left during the night if we could have had our stuff!!! The night person couldn't find one single tool to open the door. If there was a lesser star to give, I would give. As a business owner, I would never treat anyone this way, and we didn't want to take this route, but they will not respond to us. GO ELSEWHERE TO STAY. read more

The hubby surprised me with a weekend stay here for our anniversary, and I couldn't have been more excited. I giggled this place, and loved finding all the stories about it bring one of the most haunted locations in Michigan, of course I got excited, and the old/eerie building itself helped play with the mind in that regard. First, our room was a little disappointing. The mattress was hard and the bed squeaked (not something you want on your anniversary night), the fireplace didn't work, and instead had an electric one in front of the original. The plus about the room, heated bathroom floors! since it was our anniversary, the staff sprinkled rose petals all over and had chocolate covered strawberries and champagne waiting for us. Dinner was delicious. My hubby picked this location spicificalky for the French chef (I'm a fan of anything French). The meal was, I believe, like 8 courses; each plate simple and beautiful and delicious. They also offer a course of wines so you can try a few different types with different plates. Husband didn't care for them, but I had no problem helping him out. Breakfast was awesome! I hate hate hate eggs, but ordered the French Toast with eggs. OMG, the best freaking eggs I have ever had. Almost worth the drive back. We didn't leave the grounds, but did take advantage of the couples massage. Was not impressed. The massage was average, and the guy who gave me mine went straight from my feet directly to my face! Eeekkkkkk! That ruined the whole thing for me. There's a hot tub on top of the castle, but we never made it up there. The building is beautiful, and at night after the staff had left and all the lights are out, the dark and online stories defenatelly mess with your mind. Didn't have any paranormal experiences. The staff was very polite and friendly Our visit cost us a little over $500 for the night, our meals, the massage and romance package (rose petals, strawberries, Champaign). Not worth the price, still a nice romantic date, but if I'm paying that much, I want to sleep on a new matters with a bed that doesn't squeak all night, and a working fireplace. My family had planned a special going away day for our exchange student which included lunch at The Castle. We reserved our date and time almost four weeks in advance. When we made our reservations the woman who took them double checked that there were no wedding parties or large groups already booked for that day. Seeing nothing in the books and after double checking, she took our reservation. Today we received a call from the Castle. A manager told us that the Castle was already booked for a party the day of our reservation, and that unfortunately for us, we would not be accommodated. This woman was rather aloof about the whole thing and very under apologetic. She blamed the mixup on mistakes, which she couldn't account for and it seemed to make little difference to her. We had even received an email confirmation of our reservation the day before she called! Poor management, poor customer service, lack of communication and coordination of reservations. I'd think twice before making any kind of reservation there. We were only a party of 10 that got bumped, it could be your wedding party that gets the axe! read more

On July 1, 2015 my fiance and I arrived at Henderson Castle for a romantic evening in the Castle's cottage. When we arrived for the prepaid vacation, we couldn't get our IPAD to connect to the internet so we could listen to music and dance. After several attempts, I went to the front desk to inform the clerk who came to the room to assist. She also couldn't get the IPAD to connect and told us that sometimes IPAD won't connect to their internet. She said she'd call the owner, Francois. She came back and told us that Francois suggested that we reboot the system, which we did but still got no connection. Giving up on the internet, we turned on the TV to see if we could find something fun to watch together on TV. Unfortunately, all we got was a "no signal" message. Again, I went to the front desk where the clerk attempted to contact Francois. She left a voice mail to which he didn't respond in a timely manner. About 15 minutes later, I went back to the front desk and the clerk sent several text messages to Francois, neither of which he returned. At that time I asked that we be moved to another room that had functioning amenities and was told that there were no other rooms available. We waited another 15-20 minutes but by this time it was almost 9pm and we decided to leave. Since that evening I have been trying to get a refund if the $111 we prepaid for the room. I spoke with Ruby the next day and she told me that she had talked with the desk clerk about the problem. She also mentioned that they were having internet problems and someone had been out that day (July 2) to correct the problem. Ruby told me that would discuss the issue with the hotel manager and someone would contact me within 24 hours. No one did. After leaving several voice mails over the next 2 weeks (none of which were returned), I finally spoke with Jennifer, the hotel manager on July 16th. She said she had talked with my fiance several times about the issue but that was a flat out lie. Mine was the only number the hotel had and she had never contacted me. She then said she would discuss the matter with Francois. I spoke with Jennifer again today (July 17th) and she told me that Francois is refusing to give a refund. She said that he checked the room after we left and both the internet and TV were working fine. I responded that if everything was working fine, we wouldn't have left as we were excited about staying in the Castle. To this she had no response.
