A lot of hype with this place. The service is great everyone is helpful and attentive. As far as the food is concerned I was not impressed. I was really excited to try Henley after hearing a lot about it lately. The valet situation seemed unnecessarily difficult and cost $5 - not a big problem but worth noting. The interior is nice and the service was quite good. I enjoyed my cocktail well enough. We love trying different tastes so we were really excited to try the newly-released tasting menu. We've tried most of the tasting menus in Nashville, and we have high expectations. Unfortunately, most of the dishes just weren't as good as they could be. The presentation and quantity were okay - the flavors just weren't as well-developed as we expected. For one, many of the dishes could have been improved with just a little bit more salt. I will say that the pumpkin seed risotto was excellent. We would come back and just order that if we could. We ended up spending about $200 on our tastings and drinks for two and it didn't feel like we got our money's worth. We have no problem spending that and more on rare occasion, but the experience needs to knock it out of the park. We ended up picking some other food up afterward because we weren't quite satisfied. When it comes down to it, the Henley experience could have been a bit better all around. read more

One of the best places I've eaten in Nashville, hands down. Went for dinner one night and everything was excellent. The grilled watermelon, short ribs, heirloom tomatoes and grits were favorites around the table. Dessert was great too - would definitely recommend making room for the milk chocolate soufflé. We went for brunch. It was totally empty where Tavern right down the street had a line out the door. The food was good, but perhaps not the best in town. My husband is aiming for a low-carb diet, and there was almost nothing he could eat on the brunch menu. The space is beautiful. The designer did a great job. I love the look of the bar. I would certainly go back for cocktails at happy hour. Huge alcohol selection, great barstools. Lovely atmosphere. I was a little turned off by the five dollar payment required to valet. My husband and I had breakfast at The Henley and were blown away by the quality. I wanted simple eggs, but wanted them on the braised greens, wow! The waitress Sam didn't blink twice when I asked for a special order and didn't have to "ask the kitchen" I later asked for the recipe for the greens as Ive never had better in my life and Chef Brent came out to explain how he makes them. Well, they are labor intensive , another reason to eat here and not make your own! My husbands breakfast was equally superb . I went to breakfast this morning at Henley with my husband and daughter. I had heard great things about it, and was so looking forward to going, however, the experience was slightly underwhelming. The typical customer (besides us, being young, married, with a toddler), seemed to be middle aged folks who don't have smile lines because they have not smiled enough in their life to even have them. The decor was beautiful, albeit a bit too dark for breakfast. The service was good, and the people there are friendly and helpful. To start, we ordered the Pecan French Toast sticks - they were yummy, but, in the words of Prue from Great British Baking Show, "not worth the calories". My husband ordered the spicy chicken sandwich, and was disappointed. The bun was quite burned, and the chicken wasn't bad, but it also wasn't consistently cooked. I ordered the Breakfast Burrito, which was yummy, but I would change a couple things about it if I was cooking it in the kitchen. I was very much wanting to go to Rabbit Hole too - however, with the hefty price and my experience at Henley being sort of disappointing, I don't know if we will go. read more

Overrated and overpriced. Ended up paying more than $20 for one cocktail - tax was also $3.40 (which seems exorbitant). Went with a group, tried about 6 different cocktails amongst ourselves, and not one of us liked our drink. It seems like they were trying too hard to be "trendy" when crafting the menu, mixing so many flavors that every drink was off-putting for the average palate. As a group, we are generally easy to please with drinks, so when we order a quarter of the menu and cannot find one pleasant one, you know there is a problem. May be enjoyable drinks for cocktail connoisseurs, but not your average Joes. This restaurant is amazing. We are foodies and super critical of EVERY dish--we watch way too much Gordon Ramsey and get above our station sometimes, but we were super impressed at Henley. We got there too early for the dim sum brunch, but decided to stay anyway. SO glad we did. The duck fat doughnuts started us off right...2 large hot powdered doughnuts laying in caramel sauce. They were unbelievable. Then we both got the 3 eggs with sausage, greens, and grits. I have literally never had better collards and the sausage--they were out of this world. My daughter loves grits and she was all about these. Even the side of brioche was amazing. It was obvious the butter was made in house and the strawberry jelly was good enough to eat alone. Service was impeccable and the atmosphere was amazing. However, my friend ordered the cobia dish and it was served raw in the middle. She did not make a big deal at all and politely asked if she could have it cooked through. It was immeasurably brought back to the table after the chef said it was supposed to be served that way. It's a nice space, cool layout, food is good with a somewhat disjointed menu. I went for Mother's Day Brunch and was very disappointed in the service. We were seated promptly but never greeted. Had to ask who our server was. Its was in the very back of the restaurant in the section off area so maybe no one saw us. We ordered drinks and the Duck Fat Beignets. Our appetizer came out far before our drinks which happens sometimes when a restaurant is "busy". We were the only table in our section and there were about 3 other tables in the main dining area. The Beignets themselves were very tough and hard to chew. We finished our drinks and appetizer before we were approached again. A new server came up to us and said sorry for the wait but there was a miscommunication/shift change and he would be our new server and would come right back. He had just been sat a large table and he went to greet them and take their drink order. He delivered their drinks and took their food order. Then came back to us to take our order (it was myself and a girlfriend). I was hesitant to order because I had a 2pm appointment and it was past 1pm. My appointment was just outside but I didn't want to be late. I asked what the quickest thing to order was and he told me the Bob Wood's Ham Omelette (cheddar, charred onion, chive). There was very little ham and even less cheese. It mostly was egg and charred onion. The egg was cooked well but the filling ratio was way off. I've heard such good reviews from clients as well as read them online but I probably wont go back unless I have to meet someone at the bar for a drink. read more

The reason I'm writing the review is the short ribs. They are incredible. The definition of 'melt in your mouth' food. Do not miss out. I'm taking one star away for service. They are nice, attentive, and pleasant, but there seems to be a lot of confusion. Our table was served by five or six different people and they brought us menu items we didn't ask for three times in one visit. I'm sure they'll figure this out as the restaurant is very new, so I fully expect to upgrade this review to five stars when I come back. It has a really neat vibe and the service was excellent. The food and cocktails were small portions and mediocre tasting.

The overall was a 4 but I give it a 5 based on the meal. The meal was defiantly a comfort food. We had charred cabbage (yum) and Mac n cheese (must try this), Cesar salad made with purple kale (very delicious). My husband also ordered the pork ribs. First ribs that came out were very laden with fat, our waitress noticed, and came back and told us they were going to make that right and send out another order of pork ribs. That was great anticipation of quality. We finished with chocolate soufflé. My husband had a couple of their specialty whiskey/bourbon cocktails and they did not disappoint. I made reservations on open table in a week advance for my husbands birthday. We were seated immediately (there was on one table with patrons.). The hostess could of literally sat us anywhere and sat us right next to the kitchen entrance/exit. It smelled of cleaning products and food. The staff were loud (we that's their space to talk). I looked around and could not understand why we were sat at the worst table in the restaurant when all other tables but one were occupied. This is why I would of given this visit a 4, but like I said the food moved the needle. After sitting in this less than desirable table I heard someone in the kitchen yell out F*** really loud and I had enough. We were trying to have a romantic birthday dinner and this defiantly crushed that. I got up immediately and walked to the hostess stand and asked she move us to a Better location. She did without hesitation. The ambiance in the Henley was really warm and trendy. The bar looks like it would be fun to sit at and just try out their cocktails and beer. They also offered mocktails which I tried and it was very good. Our waitress was nice and knowledgeable and thanked my husband for his service after learning he is a police officer. Usually it's the customers who get all the attention, but when a restaurant *supersedes all expectations they deserve recognition! That was our recent experience at Henley. In fact, we had such an enjoyable experience that I called James, the General Manager, today to offer my highest praise. Everything with this restaurant was on point and my impression was formed before we even walked in the door. When I called to confirm the reservation, coincidentally James answered the phone and we chatted. When we arrived the evening of our reservation, we were seated at the perfect table, which I assume was compliments of James who knew we coming to celebrate a birthday. When we sat down and I could look around at the decor, I was in awe of restaurant, which is warm, trendy, and has the greatest vibe. Then Shane our waiter walked up and within seconds we knew we had a rockstar waiter. Word on the street is that Nashville struggles retaining good staff. I have to say that every person we came in contact with at Henley was gracious, professional but warm, and verrrrry attentive. I have to give a shout out to Shane, our super cool server ---THANK YOU for making the evening so fun and for your *impeccable* service!!!! You really helped make our birthday celebration festive and you were so committed to ensuring that we had a great experience at your table and at Henley. I read the Yelp reviews before we went, perused the menu, and had an idea of what we wanted to order. We went with the cheese board (nice presentation and great selection of cheese), and at Shane's suggestion, two of us at the table had the pork ribs (prepared sous-vide) and another had the andouille sausage plate. Both dishes were excellent and Shane took time to help us navigate the menu when we were torn between different entrees and different sides. Also at his suggestion we ordered the charred broccoli salad and roasted carrots. One reviewer on Yelp squawked that the ribs were fatty--they were phenomenal! Fall off the bone, moan at the table out loud good--and the portion was HUGE. (And Shane even mentioned that if we got some that were too fatty for our liking, he'd swap them out.) The broccoli salad and the carrots were spectacular ---the carrots were the best roasted carrots I've ever had and I appreciate gooooood food. We even got french fries as a side for the table too. Thin and crispy! We finished the meal with two desserts - sweet potato crème brulee and the chocolate pot de creme. They were deeelish and I look forward to going back and trying the warm apple clafoutis! Overall, if you're surfing the web for a restaurant to try in Nashville, RUN don't walk to Henley. Definitely the worst tapas restaurant in Nashville. The waiter was nice, but when it takes an hour from handing over your card to pay and leaving there are issues. His manager actually made the situation worse. The most hilarious part about waiting an hour to pay is that you can't order a drink from the bar and pay there. The drink has to be transferred over to your server. Keep in mind the server has been trying to close you out for an hour. A few of the dishes were ok. None were great. And some were disgusting. (Oysters) Cool vibe inside. Great location. But, the food and service are what keep the doors open. read more

I visited Henley last night. The space is beautiful, the staff is friendly, and the food is solid. We had the cheese plate, trailer crackers, chicken, and Brussels sprouts. All were good. So, why only three stars, you ask? The service is too slow. When we first sat down, it was a good 15 minutes before we ever laid eyes on our waitress. We quickly ordered a beer and glass of wine (no craft cocktailing required), we watched the bartender quickly make our drinks, and then watched the drinks set on the bar for 15 minutes after we received our first appetizer. Being parched, and with our waitress nowhere in sight, I finally just got up and asked the bartender if I could kindly have our drinks-she brought them over to us. We received our cheese plate shortly thereafter and then received our entree a little over an hour after we ordered it. In the interim, we weren't really checked on. Anyway, if they step up the service, this place will be great. For now, though, there are too many other options with great food and stellar service for me to need to return. read more

Of all the great new Americana restaurants in Nashville, this was the best meal I've had. The drink menu is interesting and wonderful. I also ordered a Sazerac and it was perfect. It gave the Sazerac Bar in NOLA a run for it's money, which is the highest compliment I can give a drink. We had an assortment of small dishes and each one was better than the last. This is a perfect dinner or drinks date spot and a great place to take a group of friends who want to share a variety of delicious plates. Best meal in Nashville, bar none! read more

What an incredible experience we had at Henley's. From the moment we walked in we were impressed by the lovely staff. We were greeted by Janelle, what a doll! Then we met Hannah, she is so delightful, energetic and truly felt like a friend by the end of it. William was top notch on his wine recommendations and paired it with the most delicious beef tartare. We then went on to order oysters, that were PERFECT! Like Hannah said "oysters should always taste like the ocean" and she couldn't be more correct! You HAVE to try the shrimp squid ink pasta! The broccoli and the scallops were also perfectly done. Then we finished off our meal with a fantastic chocolate soufflé with a peanut butter topping. Honestly, we were there for hours, adored the staff and the food was incredible. Hands down one of the best dining experiences my husband and I have EVER had! We were incredible impressed and if we ever come back to Nashville this will be a must do! Henley is a restaurant and bar with a great vibe. The bartender who took care of us, Matt, was fantastic. He helped us with drink suggestions and even made a drink for me based on my preferences and it was delicious. He even treated us to the onion dip appetizer which was probably my favorite part of the meal. Tried the sweet potato rolls, they were pretty good. I got the andouille sausage and grits. Sadly I've had better sausage and better grits. It was just okay. The fries I stole of my friend's burger plate were deLISH. My meal was underwhelming but I'd come back. The portions were ridiculously small, especially for the price (yes I know some were tapas but $21 for 5 bites is a bit ridiculous) and the Trailer baby crackers were definitely BABY ... 5 wheat thins with a dollop of crab/pimento for $7. OH YES. I visited Henley on a Sunday night for dinner and very much enjoyed my experience. The decor was thoughtfully designed and executed - unique and modern/rustic (if that makes sense) without going over the top hipster. The food was wonderful as were the cocktails. The "plates" are sized like regular European main dishes but may seem a bit small compared to what you're used to. It is best to get a few to share with the table. I'd say 1.5 per person would be equivalent to a average American-sized meal. The menu was a solid combination of creativity and just good ol' cooking. The only weird part of the dinner was that the waiter for much of the time stood like 10 feet from us looking in our direction. It was a bit uncomfortable. The restaurant was not busy as it just opened and it was late on a Sunday, so maybe he just didn't have all that much else to do. Also, the valet (through the Kimpton) ended up costing $5 even though there was no sign and the valet guy never said anything about it until pick up. Annoying. read more

Supposedly aged 60 days...what they served us wasn't a rib cap nor had it been aged 60 days. I literally had to saw at it with the dull knife provided. We tried the 5 cheeses and many of the small plates as well. The blue cheese was very nice, also liked the tartar. Will not come back, we can cook better food in our own home. I gave this place a shot with my boyfriend and 2 of our friends after seeing that it had opened on NashvilleGuru. I was so pleasantly surprised and the experience was nothing short of memorable. The attention to detail in the decor was impressive, and made it feel more like a dining experience than just a meal. The finishes, from the leather booth seats to the marble counter, were all high end. The menu had a good variety of items and all were very tasty! My only critique would be that there were some, but not a ton, non-meat options on the menu but there was definitely some on there. Very attentive and professional staff. Henley is the restaurant affiliated with the Kimpton Aertson Hotel. My boyfriend and I had dinner here before the ballet last weekend. The atmosphere is very modern; I especially liked the quartz crystal beer tap handles. The service was excellent; the waiters were very pleasant and attentive. However, the mood was disrupted by a casually-dressed couple who brought their fussy infant to the restaurant (which is not kid-friendly). Kinda killed the date vibe. As for the food, we split the Bear Creek Farm Beef Tartare and Chopped Kale Salad as appetizers, and I had an Attention To Detail cocktail with them. The cocktail was tasty and quite strong, which I appreciated. For dinner, I had the Squid Ink Gemelli + Shrimp along with a glass of 2015 Joseph Carr cabernet sauvignon. The portion size was perfect, not too big. For dessert, we split the Mexican chocolate mousse with peanut brittle ice cream, and I had an Albino Grasshopper dessert cocktail as well. The food was good but not particularly outstanding. The best part of the meal was the peanut brittle ice cream. It reminded me of my grandmother's peanut brittle that she made when I was young. Overall, Henley is a great restaurant as part of a hotel, but there are so many other New American places in Nashville I would recommend for dinner. read more
