Coming into Chatt on business, we were looking for a great place for an upscale lunch environment and Hennen's fit the bill. We walked right in with no wait and Ally had the most tasty appetizers (Artichoke and crab dip with pita and Southside shrimp) and a crisp Kim Crawford pinot grigio on the table within minutes. The salmon and scallops did not disappoint and the grilled chicken sandwidish satisfied. Hennen's...is there a negative to be said about this restaurant?!?? If there is, I sure haven't found it in the 15-20 years I have been dinning here. Beautiful, upscale, yet laid back and relaxing. Top notch staff serving some of the best food you will find anywhere. Had dinner with four family members so was able to get the review of three different dishes. (Two of us had the same) I had the catch of the day which was the red snapper. You have your choice of four or five preparations, all sounded amazing but I love spice so I went with the Caribbean Blackened preparation which of course included blackened seasoning fish over a bed of rice with black beans and an incredibly fresh and addictive pineapple, mango salsa. The fish was cooked to absolute perfection! Flakey, moist and delicious! I know this sounds strange to have in a steak house, but my wife had the meatloaf...trust me this is NOT your mother's meatloaf (which I love by the way) but it is the equal to anything else on their menu. Truffles take it to an entirely new level! My brother in law had the 16 Oz Delmonico Ribeye which I was able to sample and he and I agreed was one of the finest steaks we have ever had. Again, perfectly seasoned as well as cooked. Drinks, I HIGHLY recommend their Old Fashioned Select . I had to have two of them, they were fantastic! My wife had the Par 5 which she loved. Parking is a breeze as they have a parking garage connected to the rear of the restaurant that is free so long as you have them validate your ticket, which they are happy to do. This place has some really good food. I had their special of the night, which was a petite filet and a grilled lobster with herb butter. It was very nice, excellently cooked. The others had a wonderful lobster bisque, a very large Crabcake with hollandaise sauce, the truffle meatloaf, and the chipotle Mac and cheese. All were quite delicious. The food is a solid 4.5 out of 5 stars. The ambiance and decor, however, need a massive overhaul. The booths look like they haven't been replaced in decades. There are ceiling tiles instead of a nice plaster of some variety, and the lightning is quite bright for dinnertime. No interesting art or inviting details. The prices are quite high, which wouldn't be an issue if they improved the interior. The service wasn't bad, but it wasn't incredible either. All in all this place could be so much more if they invested some money in it. Would have given 3.5 stars if I could. read more

So yes, 1 star bc the restaurant has food.. and another star, bc the service is decent. And although I'm a vegetarian at a steak and seafood spot, I brought a steak and seafood lover.. and it all (Caesar salad, veggie roasted hummus, cheese tortellini pasta, citrus crusted rainbow trout, and even the bread) was dissatisfying. I wanted to like it, I really did. But I didn't. Then when the waiter asked if I liked it and I said "eh, not really" I felt as if I offended her. Are diners suppose to lie? I wasn't asking for a free meal, just answering truthfully. I did send back the Caesar bc it was BAD, but then when I tasted the hummus, I didn't eat it, but didn't bother sending it back bc it is what it is. It is food that's being "wasted" on my behalf.. I'll happily pay my dues. But, ugh. Nothing like a dissatisfying meal. Party of 8 kids and 3 adults here. We went to Agave & Rye first. No availability but the hostess recommended Hennen's. Tacos + Tequila to Lobster, Filets and Filthy Martinis. Hennen's did not have the average table available for a party of 11 so they sat us in their private dining space. Our waitress, Sarah, was on point, personable and amazing. Food was phenomenal. My husband and I went here for our anniversary dinner and there were some positives and some negatives. First off we had 9:00 reservations, and arrived at 8:55. The host told us we had to wait closer to 9:00 to be seated...ok?? So we sat and at exactly 9:00 he walked us to our table. Just thought it a bit strange, as there didn't seem to be anything that would have prevented us to have been seated when we got there, it wasn't busy. Our server was Brad, and let me say he was excellent. Very friendly and attentive, wished us a happy anniversary, and he was knowledgeable about the menu. 5 stars for Brad! Our drinks were fine, my blucumber cocktail was tasty. We ordered the featured soup as an appetizer which was their "famous" lobster bisque. Presentation was beautiful but my husband hit the nail on the head with the flavor...very similar to eating a bowl of hot mayonnaise. Seriously. No chunks of lobster to speak of and tasted like some fishy Hellman's. Couldn't stomach it and felt pretty nauseated. The steaks we ordered were gorgeous cuts of meat cooked to perfection. So so tender. The only thing lacking was flavor. They tasted like they hadn't been seasoned at all, which was pretty disappointing. The shrimp kabob and crab cakes were delish! I'll say it wasn't even close to my favorite but I made it work. For our appetizer we ordered the smoked salmon dip - dil infused, with crisped flat bread. It was very good. For our main course we doubled up and both went for the steak filet topped with boursin cheese. It was to die for. Every single bite was just heaven in your mouth. This dish topped everything we ate on our vacation to Chattanooga. It was so, so good. I rounded it out with a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon Finally, we weren't going to stop there. We decided to split the white chocolate and fig preserve bread pudding. It was very good as well. All in all our service was great, great booth seating with a view and fantastic food. After being in town for a few days we wanted a nice dinner to close out our trip. We snagged a last minute reservation that seated us 1 hour before the restaurant closed. My husband walks in and is told they can't take us (new employee unfamiliar with how to look up reservations). We get seated by a more experienced host about 10-15 minutes later. The bartender walks over and offered to take drink orders since no one had come to our table. Another 15 minutes go by, no greeting. I used my cell to call the restaurant since the only employees we saw during this time rushed by us. They said they'd have a server come take our orders. Our food comes out and I'm sure they did their best but I was by then so frustrated with so many parts of my experience. My steak hits the table and they server leaves, no one has any silverware. Cmon ppl! This isn't that hard! I mean for somewhere that's Chattanooga's version of Capital Grille I expect employees to give a damn. Holy cow! My wife and have lived in the SF Bay Area for 35 years so we have had exceptional food, never did we expect something this incredible in Chattanooga. Hennes was everything and more. My wife had the salmon and I had the the scallops. Scallops are a real test of a chef, and I've never had better. Our server Jade was incredible and was very knowledgeable about the best of how I would enjoy them. She knew exactly how my wife's salmon should be prepared to her liking. Had a reservation and upon arriving was pleasantly surprised, our table was ready, (was prepared to wait at the bar because we arrived early). I choose their pork chop, with scallops and whipped potatoes. First, I was grateful that it wasn't over seasoned with salt. The flavor was allowed to come through on its own. Also, had rib eye with grilled unions roasted mushrooms and butter blue cheese. Perfectly cooked. Finally, for desert had the cheese cake and that was just perfect with my red wine. After a long drive from NC, and looking at reviews, we decided to stop there as it was convenient to our hotel. We were a little early, about 5:30 with no reservation but they were able to seat us in regular dining area. Our server, Dawn was so helpful and gracious, she really made the us feel welcome and advised us on food choices as well as local attractions. She was a treasure! We loved eating there so much we went the next two nights as well!!! Food was great and since we really didn't plan to eat there all three nights, we didn't get reservations but they were able to seat us in bar area which was fine.
