Trendy, mod atmosphere, with a variety of food stations: coffee, grilled/roasted items, sandwich bar, salad bar, and poke bar. I'm so happy this place exists near our office space and offers enough variety to try new things regularly. The staff is extremely friendly and generally competent. The food is very good and the portions are reasonably sized. My favorite so far is the poke place. I hope this lunch spot stays around and continues to improve. Some constructive criticism since they are so new: - Offer lighter, healthier options (we'll be eating this several times a week) at a little less cost. A small protein, veggie, and rice/quinoa bowl for $10 would be amazing. Some of the sides get very heavy and greasy. They have a few too many brown butter or "white" based sauces that everything seems to be tossed with, then they add more on top. - Quinoa mushroom blend and a few other sides are a touch too salty - Would love a second grain option at the grill side besides quinoa and fried potatoes (farro? rice? lentil? orzo?) - Would love one or two more protein options at the salad bar - Coffee bar could do more tea Overall very excited to see how this place continues to grow! read more

Went back & had the breakfast burrito. I almost didn't get it b/c the way it's described on the menu, "egg, bacon, potato, avocado, cheese, salsa verde, pico de gallo," makes it sound like any other breakfast burrito that you get at any ol' diner. Good grief, y'all are criminally underselling this thing. It is hands down the best breakfast burrito I've ever had. "Bacon"? C'mon, man... When I read "bacon" is in this burrito, I'm thinking that there's gonna be chopped up pieces of thin, crispy slices of what is commonly known as bacon. That's not it what's in this burrito. It has big chunks of juicy, delicious pork belly, which obviously is so much better & much, much tastier. I could go on & on about this burrito, but my mouth is starting to water... The one negative w/ the burrito is that the potato is chopped a little too big for my taste; they're so big, that some bites into the burrito, all I got was potato. Just a small complaint, & doesn't affect my overall opinion of the burrito. read more

Love the look and feel of this eatery. Very modern and clean. My husband and I came in for lunch and we were greeted immediately by a friendly face in the panini area. She explained the new fall menu and showed us where to place our order. I was craving a cup of tomato soup so I ultimately chose the Turkey Press sandwich as a good accompaniment. It did not disappoint. Actually, it was really, really good! The turkey was moist and flavorful and the jalapeño mayo gave it a nice kick. I also loved the kale addition to the sandwich. The sandwich came with a surprise big portion of mesclun greens and lemon vinaigrette. The vinaigrette was just as described... but super tart. Wish it was more balanced. It will make you pucker, so use judiciously. As for the soup itself, it was good but not memorable. My hubby got the entree salmon. The menu says the salmon is seared but his fish didn't look seared at all, just really undercooked/raw. He said the flavors were good though and the portion was really small for $15-16 dish and 2 sides. He chose the smashed potatoes (super yummy!) and charred broccoli (really delish too). Overall, we were pleased and would definitely come back again. We look forward to seeing how this food hall would be once it's open at full capacity. read more

Herb & Ranch borderlines between Good (4 stars) and Ok (3 stars) for me. I'll start with the good - the food is above average for a "campus eatery." What is a campus eatery, you ask? I typically call restaurants in the middle of business complexes where no other food establishments exists nearby. So Herb & Ranch has a tiny monopoly for the businesses in the area (except for the Farmer's market that comes by during the warmer months - minus the COVID situation). But instead of the food being trash knowing they have a monopoly, they really kick it up a notch in terms of quality, variety, and being upscale. Even their paper napkins are of amazing quality. So what should you order? The breakfast burrito hands down. The ingredients are amazing - thick cut bacon, well seasoned potatoes, fluffy eggs, and thick cut bacon. Did I mention thick cut bacon? Trust me, their breakfast burrito itself is 5 stars. So what makes it borderline at 3.5 stars? The price and the portions. The rest of the food is good (like their salmon plate, poke bowls, etc), but you pay the premium for the convenience if you're working nearby. But to make a trip out here consistently for the food? That is questionable, and that's why it's a 3.5 for me. Except for that breakfast burrito - I get cravings for it from time to time and make the drive just to get it. read more

Very clean & great service. That's a even bigger deal now with what's going on in the world. There are tables (spaced out & following protocol) inside & outside. There are sanitizers at each door & at the registers. Staff was able to tell us about the items & actually recommend their personal favorites vs just saying the usual "everything is delicious." Price point is pretty good & food was filling. I ordered a glass of Riesling ($10) & the salmon with charred broccoli & salt roasted smashed potatoes ($15): it was light but satisfying, I couldn't even finish the meal! We also had the Pork & Kimchi Fried Rice ($11) good portion & packed with flavor, nice touch with the sunny side egg on top. My friend had the Roasted chicken curry bowl with mixed greens & brown rice/quinoa duo. Unfortunately, I didn't get to try it but she said it was delicious & she had enough to take home as well. We bought some backed goods to take home & I can't wait to try them. Will report on those items later. We purchased the Raspberry & pistachio scone, Fontina & chives scone, & a double chocolate cookie. Will definitely go back. Just ordered takeout for lunch and got the curry chicken salad bowls with greens and they were so good! Lots of chicken with perfect char, lots of greens and love the sweet, sour and salty combo with the apples, little raisins and dressing. Tons of flavor and filling. My only complaint is my salad dressing container was barely filled, while my husband got a full one, and it was takeout so couldn't ask for more. Will definitely be back to try other things or repeat the curry salad! read more

Please read the entire post for some context behind my 2 stars. I do like the food and the service. The breakfast is pretty awesome and isn't the worst when it comes to price. It's nice that they open at 6:30 am too. Some items are a bit overpriced. The service is professional and kind. They have had some operational issues as they've gotten started, like their card processor delaying charges. These are all but growing pains that will be resolved. So why not four or five stars? This facility really hurt the charm of working in the immediate area. Before H&R came to be, the Irvine Company would bring a diverse array of food trucks and pop-up vendors throughout the week for all to enjoy. There was also a fantastic farmers market on Thursdays that offered a wide variety of foods (love the tamales!) as well as items like fresh fruit, veggies, nuts, etc. The farmers market was a staple and definitely a highlight for myself and many of my colleagues. Since H&R has been opened, they have seemingly done away with all these wonderful options to drive people to H&R. I have no idea if it's a temporary thing or not, but it's clear they (Irvine Company) would rather drive traffic to their restaurant than provide the folks who live in the area with fun options that rotate daily. Don't get me wrong, I love H&R and am glad it's there. BUT, there are only so many days a week or month one can have the same thing before it starts to get stale and boring. I miss the variety the food trucks and farmers market brought to the center. It would be a major bummer if the Irvine Company did away with those other options for good. If they indeed do, the one suggestion I'd make to them is to create a more rotating menu to change things up regularly. After all, since we work here, we're a captive audience. read more

I had the protein plate with a steak skewer covered in chimichurri sauce and a side of charred brocolli with parmesan pesto and then the street corn. The beef was a little tougher than I would like and the chimichurri had too much salt. The parmesan pesto on the broccoli was also too salty. Lastly, the corn had a concentrated sour flavor and would have tasted better with fresh lime juice. Wasn't impressed for the cost and was surprised only 1 skewer is provided. read more

This review is long overdue, this place is great! Delicious food, coffee, and amazing customer service. Went in to buy some lunch for my first time and the next time going in they remembered my name AND my order! They also do a great job at enforcing COVID restrictions by providing a very clean space. Despite the time we are in, they definitely make ordering take out an experience that you would normally get during a dine in visit. Delicious fresh food in a gorgeous location. Incredibly friendly service from Heather and Christina today. It was our first time, so we needed help ordering. My brother had a hot chai, the pork sandwich and a cup of tomato soup - all so yummy! My daughter really enjoyed her tofu wrap and iced chai. The sauce on my caprese sandwich was a game-changer. I also devoured the tomato soup and cooled off with an iced chai. We all shared the roasted carrots and caprese side. We loved it so much we started talking about when we could come again, and decided to do so RIGHT THEN. They both got another coffee and I got a blueberry muffin and two cookies for my son for later. Note to self: next time someone asks me if I want my cookies warmed - SAY YES! Even a few hours later they were perfection. Next time I'll sit a minute and enjoy a coffee and warmed cookie to fully savor. Prices were very reasonable for the food quality and portions. Went here for a quick lunch and it was great! Had a turkey wrap and the tomato soup. Turkey wrap was good, lots of turkey and great portion for the price!
