Easily the best manicure I've had in a while. I was recommended Herbal Nails by a friend and thought I would give it a try before I went on vacation. I was able to call and get a same day appointment. They were very busy but everyone was kind and pointed me in the right direction when I came in for my appointment. I showed them a picture of the design I wanted and it came out spot on! Nina was lovely and asked me many times if I liked the color and shape. My daughter & I went to Herbal Nails for manicures yesterday. Even though my daughter had not confirmed her reservation, we were accommodated without issue. I got a regular manicure & Amanda chose gel nails. The salon is small & quiet and we had a very relaxing experience. The technicians are friendly and went out of their way to make sure we were happy. Went to this place on a whim because I saw their glowing Yelp reviews. They did not disappoint! I had a pretty complicated request for my dip nails(a different color on every nail) but they nailed it and did it so efficiently I think I was in and out of there in 30-45 minutes! The speed definitely did not compromise the quality though, as they came out exactly as I wanted and I could tell the person doing my nails was a perfectionist when it came to this. I recommend bringing in a Pinterest picture of something you have in mind and going from there. They also had such a huge range of dip colors to choose from, I had no problem finding all the ones I liked. This will definitely be my new go-to when I'm in the area! read more

I had mixed feelings about this nail salon. I came here for a relaxing experience the day before my wedding based on previous reviews, and I was disappointed with the experience overall. My nails were done well in the end, the salon was clean and had relaxing aesthetics. Hence 3 stars. However I didn't find my appointment relaxing at all. I had made an appointment for wedding nails and pedicure months in advance and confirmed the week of. When I showed up they were overbooked and turning other people away who had appointments, luckily I wasn't turned away but had 3 different people work on what should have been very simple which was weird. I asked for a gel manicure and pedicure. I showed a picture of what I wanted for my wedding nail design and was told it could be done with gel. The person doing my pedicure asked another girl to confirm how to do it.. but then during my pedicure he asked me what color I wanted. I was so confused. I said whichever one is being used on my nails along with the design, he had me pick a color so I picked one close to the design....still confused... I was given a regular pedicure despite asking for gel. This wasn't a big deal as it was hot so I knew they'd dry quickly... but annoying. The pedicure would have been a nice relaxing experience with hot stones and a nice scrub but he kept getting up during my pedicure. They need to hire somebody who just works at the front desk as they are very busy and the person doing my pedicure kept getting up multiple times during my pedicure which was extremely non-relaxing and starting and stopping to help people coming in, leaving me hanging and also making my pedicure take forever. I also have a sneaky suspicion I was given a deluxe pedicure that I didn't ask for, but I am not sure. A different person did my manicure, I showed her the same photo with the design and she also went to the other girl and came back with a different color.... at this point I was very confused and asked to match the color I chose for my toes... and said if it it needs to be the other color than it's not a big deal... whatever it has to be for my design to be done... she said it could match the toes.... and would be fine with the design. Manicure had no hot towel, no hand lotion or massage, but in truth I was OK with this because it was taking a really long time and I was on a time crunch with my rehearsal party. Midway through my manicure, the other girl who had been advising them on doing my nail design came over and told me the color I chose won't be good for the design I want.... this really made me annoyed as I started out telling them what I wanted and I had purposely not chosen a color to have them tell me what to do. This girl then had me move to her table where she finished my nail design and luckily it came out very nice. Both the manicure and pedicure took me a total of almost two hours which I felt was too long for gel and zero drying time. My nails came out nice even though not exactly what I asked for and I hate to be negative. However, the fact that I had three people working on me, there was a ton of miscommunication, one person stopping and starting and dragging out my manicure... I'm not sure I would return. read more

Kyle shaped and filed the nails meticulously until they were all perfectly even. Then he handed me off to Rose, and she did an amazing job painting the nails. There is a reason this place is the highest rated nail salon in the Portsmouth area and I think I know why! It's because the employees here are simply the best. Not only do they ensure you are at the ultimate level of comfort at all times but they (and I mean literally every person that works there) can also carry a great conversation too. The place is very clean and you can tell the owners take the hygiene of the store very seriously which is great. One thing I do wish though is if they could provide eyebrow waxing services, but I'm almost 99% sure you need to be licensed for that so that's probably why they don't have it! Herbal Nails does take walk-ins, but I would definitely recommend calling ahead and making an appointment because this place fills up. read more

I walked in while visiting Portsmouth for work. They were very accommodating even though I did not have an appointment. I saw a glitter ombre design on their website that they were able to do for me. The manicurist was incredibly detail oriented and did a fantastic job. The place was clean and relaxing. Gel manicure with design was also super reasonably priced for doing such a great job! I wish I lived closer so I could come in routinely. I will definitely plan for another design manicure the next time I am in town and also the herbal pedicures looked awesome. read more

I have been here a few times now, it's not my normal go to as I try and get my nails done during the weekend, but due to the place by my house being closed and me leaving for vacation this week I needed my nails done ASAP! Lucky for me this is close to where I work and they had a lunch time appointment for me, not only was my experience great per usual here, but they went Above and beyond to get my mani and pedi done at the same time, without even asking! All in all I can easily say that the service at Herbal Nails was superb and truly wonderful. The people there were kind, especially Amy, who had made conversation and took the time to get to know us (my friend and I went). We called for an appointment and they were able to put us in the day we called. Unfortunately they were a little behind schedule, but it was fine because personally we understood that they were busy. My nails came out looking great! My friend and I both got full sets of acrylics and the whole time, they were deliberate and very professional with their placement and structuring of the nails. They asked questions and listened to everything, making sure to make our experience enjoyable! Now the price is a fair amount for what you are getting. It was sufficient and for all that was done, I would say it's worth it to spend a little extra! We wanted to pamper our selves and this was accomplished. The salon was also very clean and sanitary. They didn't reuse anything and always brought back clean equipment. The whole setting was very clean as a whole and welcoming to anyone wanting to come in! Overall, I will definitely be going back to Herbal Nails for my next set or if I need a fill. Everything about experience was great and top notch! I was looking at reviews online and I saw this salon had a 5 star review and I thought why not. I'm so glad I did. My cuticles were in rough shape and my nails just looked sloppy, Rose fixed me right up and did, by far, the best manicure I ever had!! I was so happy I had to write a review. I'll admit I was hesitant because I don't want people rushing in and I'll never get an appointment ever again but I couldn't not because they are a newer place deserving of new customers. I stopped in (without an appt) and got a regular pedicure and a gel manicure before a wedding. They were very busy but managed to squeeze me in after a 45 minute wait (I just went shopping in the area and came back). They were great! I work in a lab so I am always putting on and taking off exam gloves which ruins regular manicures quickly for me so I always get gel. This one lasted a record 16 days for me! I only took it off because my nails were growing out too far but the color still looked great and hadn't chipped! Very impressed.
