Went to Herbe Sainte for Restaurant Week, so I apologize in advance of you can't get the items we ordered. Decor was nice, kind of upscale bistro meets coffee house meets cocktail bar. The restaurant is on the corner providing two sides of windows to people watch. Of course, you could always sit outside if you prefer. All of our food was great! Compared to American portion sizes, these were small, however, we were full by the end of the meal and not Thanksgiving Day coma stuffed. The only thing that could be improved are the grits (they were under seasoned and gritty). The best part of the evening was the service. Our waitress was awesome! Stopped in based on Yelp reviews. Was kind of hoping for a TV with baseball or hockey, but no such luck. No matter; the food & service made up for it. Ok only one waitress and she was awesome. Great service and great food. The pimento Mac and cheese for $14 was not worth it. Very small portion for the price. Husband had meatballs with dirty rice - said the rice was s little dry. I had a shrimp po'boy. Got a choose 2 for $10 - 1/2 sandwich and chopped salad. Was supposed to get steamed shrimp but instead got the other half of the sandwich. Oh well - it was good. Daughter loved her roast beef po boy - had pickled cucumbers- nice vinegar taste. Made the sandwich. They were on my shrimp as well. Cute little place with 4 couches and a nice bar. We were there around 2:00 pm - about 7 tables and a couple at the bar. Try it! I have now enjoyed Herbe Sainte for both dinner and brunch -- both times I was impressed by the service and food. For dinner, I had the crawfish spring roll, and was pleasantly surprised. It was fresh and relatively light, albeit very salty. Their house made hot sauce is also great. Those accompanying me enjoyed the kale salad, jambalaya, chopped salad, and chicken. When I went to brunch, my friends and I sat on the patio with mimosas (which are 1 penny after purchasing 2) and peel & eat shrimp. The food is delicious and service is excellent. This place was a surprisingly delightful, both the decor and food was on point. I love the sofa seating that was available. Decor was way nicer than I expected, it had a cozy upscale vibe. I ordered the NOLA shrimp with a side of dirty rice and I can say both were very tasty. A lot of restaurants don't quite get the cajun/creole seasonings right, but Herbe Sainte nailed it! My true testiment to how much I like a dish is if I'd order it again...and yes I'd order both again. The shrimp had a nice little spicy bite to them. Yum. We also shared the beignets and donuts, which came with two delicious sauces. I was seriously wishing I'd ordered my own...no sharing next time. Yummy!!! You're not going to find much more authentic Creole food in Omaha. Herbe Sainte has all the classics, such as shrimp and grits, jambalaya, po' boys... and they're all legit. The restaurant somehow provides a bit of an upscale vibe despite a casual, laid-back atmosphere. The dimmed lighting indoors is fun, but if the weather permits, the patio seating is the way to go. When it comes to ordering, you really can't go wrong. There aren't many places you can get étouffée in Omaha, and it's worth the trip here. A bed of fluffy rice is smothered in a slightly spicy, tomato-based roux. The tomatoes add just a touch of sweetness, and the crawfish are perfect, tender morsels. Onions and red peppers add some texture to tie the dish together and make it a perfect representation of New Orleans. The shrimp and grits are excellent as well. They're very creamy, reminiscent of a a slightly more gritty mashed potatoes. Topped with a slightly spicy sauce and paired with enormous shrimp, this dish was a winner. Chunks of shoulder bacon provides bursts of salty, fatty goodness, while scallions, corn, and collard greens add color and variety. Herbe Sainte also has a decent-sized cocktail menu and prides itself on making quality drinks. Everything I've tried has been quite good, and I recommend the Old Fashioned (if whiskey is your thing, of course). Oh, and the joint has an awesome brunch menu on the weekends. Always love every experience at Herbe Sainte. The craft cocktails are incredible. The staff is always so friendly, very knowledgeable about the menu & consistently make great recommendations. I'm a huge fan. One thing I haven't tried is brunch. The regular menu, the seasonal menu the dessert menu is always full of great choices. The corpse reviver is one of my fave cocktails. I usually order from the seasonal menu but the Cajun Mac n cheese, the meat board & the kale salad are always good choices from the main menu. read more

On a relatively slow night it took 5-10 minutes for someone to even acknowledge us after we sat down. But once they did service was good and our waitress was attentive and apologetic for the wait. I ordered the modern sazerac and the crawfish étouffée. My wife ordered the sloe word, the shrimp roll, we split the crawfish cheesecake, and got the bread pudding as desert. Drinks: The modern sazerac, while very tasty, left me wanting more from it. The use of rye instead of brandy was nice but I think for the second round I'll go with the classic. DRINK UPDATE: Original sazerac and a brandy crusta for round 2. Both were fabulous with the original sazerac being exactly what i hoped for. The sloe word was very good, but I happen to quite enjoy gin. I realize some people don't like gin tho. Food: The crawfish étouffée was very good, I feel the serving size was a little on the small side, but the flavor was there and it was very well done. It also comes in a vegetarian friendly version, not sure how that would work though, and not super interested to try the veggie version.Would order the crawfish étouffée again. The shrimp roll was your typical shrimp salad on a hard roll. The pickles appear homemade and were a cornerstone of the dish. The roll was also a highlight as it was crispy and not soggy like you get with most lobster or shrimp rolls. The crawfish cheesecake was a miss in my opinion. It was cool in the center and lava on the edges, and wasnt what we expected at all. The crust didnt have a lot of crunch to it, and the crawfish was mixed in rather than on top. It also comes in a little dish thats similar to a creme Brulee dish, and not as a slice. I really wish it came with a side of crackers to eat it with instead of using forks. I'll happily give it another shot next time i come in though, as it comes with a sauce on the side that i didn't notice until the end, could be a game changer. The bread pudding was decadent and quite delicious. The only complaint I have is it was cool in the middle. Overall I give this place a solid internet 5/7, or a yelp . Would I come here again? Absolutely. Would i come here specifically for dinner? Its possible, but much more likely that I'd revisit as a cocktail and appetizer spot before a movie, or maybe a cocktail and desert after a date. read more

The bread pudding was to die for. Probably the best I have ever had. We came for drinks and desserts and it definitely didn't disappoint. Pretty busy on the weekend. The menu looks great. We will come back for dinner. Updated: I needed a receipt for business and the waitress couldn't print one off for me. She said I could have it emailed. The receipt that gets emailed is not the detailed receipt just the amount. A link provides the detailed receipt but there is no printer friendly option. I would have liked a small receipt. Now I need to print it out myself and get scissors and cut it out. I think they should have a receipt option for those of us who need it. read more

This is my first time to Herbe Sainte and it's actually happens by accident (a good one though ) since it is a runner up to our first option that is closed for an event at downtown. It is also my first time going to a cajun/creole restaurant. I've had those food but mostly at a gathering or events, so I'm excited about it. We were there for the brunch and lucky enough to come at their very last hours so it's not too busy anymore. The menu is pretty simple and self-explanatory, if only they have kids menu though... it will be perfect. I have the etoufee scramble and we ordered the side of scrambled eggs for our son. I can definitely say that it's the yummiest cajun/creole food I've had so far. It was tasty and balanced between spices and flavors, including my son's scrambled eggs. The service is also great and the food comes out pretty fast too. I love my experience here and will definitely come back for more. read more

First time in Omaha and here for one night and glad I found Herbe Sainte. Haven't had Cajun in some time, and only frequent a few select Cajun places, but it was an great meal. I sat at the bar and Landon the bartender was super attentive and helpful. Allowed me to taste the local IPA which was very good. I debated between a couple of dishes and ultimately ordered the blackened chicken jumbalaya, which was fantastic. I strongly recommend dining here! read more

Nothing else like this place in the Omaha area to my knowledge - meant in the most wonderful way!!! Herbe Sainte brings a New Orleans vibe to the buzzing center of Aksarben Village. FYI - It is pricey and a bit elitist/hipster-ish **this is the only way I can describe this energy** otherwise I love this place! For those of you who have gotten the chance to experience New Orleans, like myself, you'll notice the twists and turns the menu takes on traditional Louisiana dishes and although you might be frightened along the way, there's no need to worry, you will end up right where you were supposed to be all along. For those of you who have not visited good ol' NOLA, you will get a taste test of some of the best dishes the South has to offer! I have tried just about everything between what I order AND take bites of when eating with others and I have never been disappointed! The flavors melt in your mouth and they aren't afraid of creating something new regularly which is a reason (if you somehow can't find one) to make sure to keep coming back! Also - the cocktails are boozy, fresh and light in the summer and warming on Brunch days/when the Seasons start to change. I've been to Herbe Sainte a handful of times and had a great experience every time. Each time I've gone into Herbe Sainte, it has been packed full, yet I have been seated almost right away (I have been with small parties of 2 or 3). The service is fantastic, and the wait staff is very helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. My grandma was born and raised in Louisiana, so naturally, when she came to town, I had to see if Herbe Sainte passed her test, and IT DID. The cajun mac is off the charts, and my grandma really enjoyed her jambalaya. I've also been here for brunch, and I must say Herbe Sainte is a super fun brunch spot with great vibes, even better waffles, AND bottomless mimosas. read more

We came here around 7pm on a Monday and the place was quite busy! First up, cocktails and some peel and eat shrimp. I had a hurricane, which had a great taste. This is always a sweet drink, but this one was just right. The shrimp were fresh and the accompanying sauces were good. Next up the shrimp roll. I thought it was good, but not as good as the crawfish etouffee Stewart ordered. Wow, that was an amazing dish. It was a busy evening and our server had a lot of tables, but she managed them all well and kept things moving. I highly recommend giving this place a try. read more

Herbe Sainte is a quirky little spot that serves Cajun-inspired dishes in Aksarben. Not really knowing what to expect (is it a bar? a coffee shop?), I decided to try it out over the other brunch spots in Omaha I like to frequent on recommendation from a friend who had had positive experiences. We ordered the breakfast quiche ($7), the etouffee scramble ($9), and the drop donuts ($5). Both the quiche and the scramble were perfectly prepared and packed with flavor. The cornbread that came with the quiche paired so well with the scramble it's almost sinful to not offer it as a side for that dish. Though the raspberry jam that came with the drop donuts was good, they were pretty dry and heavy - neither of us could finish them. With drinks (coffee and mimosa) our bill ended up being $36 without tip. Though on the pricier side for brunch dining in Omaha, I would definitely be willing to add this on my list of spots to return to. read more

This place has a fun and inviting atmosphere and a courteous staff. The menu is small and features creole inspired dishes and craft cocktails. I ordered both a Bon Vivant, and later a Nordic Thyme. Both drinks were amazing, strong but not overpowering. My order of baked oysters was a great choice. The oysters were melt in your mouth and the flavor was savory and decadent. I split the Beignets and Donuts with my husband. They were so airy and just overall amazing that I can't wait to get them again. I can't wait to come back in general. Cajun food... yum! Came in on Monday, 08/13 for early dinner before a business meeting the next day. The establishment is open and airy. I did stick out like a sore thumb though. Lol. Sat at the bar and the bartender to management was awesome. They had all day Monday happy hour and the house frozen rose cocktail for $6 was yummy and got me buzzed after 2 glass. Well actually i also had a glass of happy hour rose wine as well. As for the food, the happy hour meat board was meh, you get bologna and sausages which i could just pass. Now their version of shrimp and grits (maux croux?) that was delicious. Also, did i mention the low sales tax rate?!? Lol being from expensive California and all.
