We were really hoping this place would be good, but the food was not good. Server was nice. Fish was burnt and more breading than fish. Pretzel was burnt. Veggie burger fell apart, was more like a sloppy joe. Fries were burnt and tasted like they were fried in the fish fryer. Loaded potatoes soup was thick and didn't taste fresh. The bar area is small and extremely loud, must have bad acoustics, but I could barely talk to my husband sitting right in front of me. The beer selection is somewhat limited. EXCELLENT. I wanted some conch chowder and this place looked interesting so we stopped. Staff was super friendly from the moment we waked in. The conch chowder was fabulous. Lots of tender conch pieces. Conch fritters were probably the best I've ever had! Husband got a hamburger ... I know,why in the keys would you get a hamburger?-guess he'd had to much seafood. Well this place used chuck and brisket to ground their own hamburger = DELISH! And probably the best burger I've ever had! Defiantly worth the stop! Don't miss out! With the exception of the very friendly staff this place was a big disappointment. We were staying near by on Long Key and I found this place which had amazing oyster dishes, my husbands favorite. We went to their website to see the menu and decided to head over on a Tuesday night. After driving 30 minutes we got to the place and it was closed. Ended up at another near by joint that we thought was going to be a bust but was actually quite good. Had we known this place was going to be so awful we would have not gone back. We had dinner here the day after Thanksgiving. They had no oysters (which was the main reason for coming) and they would not make a blackened grouper sandwich for my husband. I had the small plate of shrimp with zoodles, husband had the conch chowder and two other items that I can't even remember two sodas and the check was over $40. We read the reviews and decided to. 'Order the menu' so to speak. The staff was great and the beer selection was superb. Clam chowder was the dest ever. Conch fritters were exquisite with conch in every bite. A little taste of bbq brought tasty brisket, ribs,pulled pork and dry tasteless chicken. Our sides with the bbq were not very good baked beans and cabbage aka cole slaw. We also ordered fried snapper. The snapper was served covered in chili sauce. We just had a horrible experience at this place and their food that we got to try was mediocre. After twenty minutes someone in our party had to flag someone down to get waters. We were lucky that we did not miss Herbie's on our visit because the food was amazing and the staff was so friendly and welcoming. Oysters were fresh and delicious, the conch and clam chowders were packed with meat and the fries were great. My kids even like the chicken fingers. And my husband loved all the varieties of beer. Great meal. We covered all the bases with our group. The po boy was excellent had the Hog fish special. Grilled shrimp was cooked to perfection as the menu promised and had a jerk seasoning that paired nicely. The basic burger was very good. Got a basket of the fries which were great and seasoned well. Also ordered the chicken sandwich which was tasty and pulled like pulled pork. No complaints from anyone on their food. Saved room for dessert. For starters this restaurant is amazing. The vibe and look of the inside and outside is so cute and beachy. The staff are incredibly nice and the service was very quick. Their pretzels and beer cheese were absolutely delicious and fresh brewed sweet tea too. The shrimp were fresh and so tasty. Maybe my waitress was having a bad day. But she sassed our table back after I stated my dog is my service dog. And the waitress said "no it's not a service dog. Service dogs stay under the table" and then continued to be rude until she then apologized in the same breath and walked away. It was unprofessional. And made me feel uncomfortable. He stood up and sniffed her feet while she was at our table. Some people have underlying issues that aren't apparent that need service animals. I hope everyone can be treated with respect even if someone had a bad day. read more

First time visiting Key West and Marathon. We've been eating Conch Fritters in many different places. This is the BEST CONCH FRITTERS I've had so far. Crispy outside but moist inside. Lots of conch meat in it. Also they have very delicious Korean BBQ Ribs. I was pleasantly surprised to have such a delicious meal at Herbie's. The service was also outstanding and fast. She was very friendly and courteous. The outside of the restaurant looks rundown and I was not sure if I want to eat there. I AM GLAD I DID!
