Before the kids I was a member but stopped because wasn't my focus but rejoined recently since they moved out of sugar mill and are at the barn on their property. I've gone by the tasting room and their pop ups (markets etc) and service is consistently pleasant. The location of their actual winery is stunning. Its worth going to for the view alone. We came back to Heringer again and were so happy to be greeted by Olivia, our server from our last visit! She is so awesome! Friendly and knowledgeable about the wines we were tasting, Olivia is a shining star at Heringer! The wines are delicious. My husband loved the Sauvignon Blanc and my favorite was the newly released Barbera but all the wines that we tasted were well-balanced and enjoyable. Finally, after a year living in the area, we brought a friend to go tasting with us. First stop was Heringer. They're finalizing their "tasting barn" (my phrase), a nice, open, large room with bar-like tables and chairs. It was still warm weather, so the large open space with clean cement floors was pleasant, though a bit corporate. Landscaping to come... Their selection of varietals is amazing. There must be 20 or more wines grown in the broad acreage surrounding the tasting barn. We were offered 3 free tastings, and later told that, alas, that deal is gone, and we would have to fork out $10 each to get 5 tastes. Poorly handled. They might have drawn a purchase from us, but the switcheroo from a week-ender's mistake soured us, and we sulked at the tables (while they discarded our choice lists), and generally felt manipulated. $30 bottles, mostly, and the wine is quite good. It's the only reason I give it a 4. But my daily drink is less than $10, usually, and they don't tease me with bargains while trying to get me to buy the "special" bottle or case. I don't get tasting rooms, but this corporate lock-step of $10 tastings will certainly get them the naïve buyers they want. read more

Spent a couple of hours at Heringer Estates with my wife and another couple. What a beautiful place to relax, enjoy the beautiful setting, and of course, taste a great variety of wines. Our tastings included some reds and whites. Favorite for me was the 2018 Purple Thread! Also want to give a special shout to our server, Hillary. She was very attentive with a great sense of humor in dealing with our group (nothing like some "Zombie-like servers" we have had at other wineries!) Most importantly, Hillary was also quite knowledgeable on the wines she was serving us. Thank you for the fun and memorable experience we had at Heringer! Did the Groupon for 2 tastings with complimentary tasting glasses for $20! A great deal and the wine is great! On select Fridays they have happy hour with live music and $5 glasses of wine! We happened to get lucky and come on one of these days and it made for a very lovely night Staff was extremely friendly and accommodating! Kelley was helping us out and we absolutely LOVED her!! She made sure that we had the best tasting experience possible by having us try wines according to our taste preferences! We had such a great time experiencing the relaxing, peaceful ambiance & the delicious wines on the tasting menu. Olivia was knowledgeable about the wines & told us about the history of the Heringer family. She went out of her way to make our experience special. Do Not Plan events here. I was attempting to plan an virtual wine tasting with Herringer Estates for my birthday. I am wine club member and joined this winery to due to their event, so naturally for my pandemic birthday I had to do the advertised virtual wine tasting! I reached out over a month before the event. They have been adverting for months and the process seemed simple enough. Upon inquiring they me told to choose from packages and they were giving me and my guests a discount code for the group event. I chose my package and I never received the code. I had to follow up an couple days later. Eventually after following up they sent me the code and by the time I received the code the only package of red wines were sold out. I reached out again. they stated they no longer had that option available and due to change in the POS system and current demand and supply ; They would not be offering the package again. They told me they only had a package with white wines and or sparkling, however they offered to create a package of red and get back to me the next day. I waited for week and did not hear back. so, I reached out again. I expressed my concern that it been about 3 weeks and the event was not planned and I had no idea of pricing, packages available and process. This was second time that I had to reach out them, due to lack of response. I was concerned about shipping during a pandemic & weather. The sales associate simply passed the blame for the lack of response to anther staff member and told me the same thing about a change in POS and her being busy. She stated that they did not have red package but that they can make me one. She also gave me new ordering instructions. We did one call and she told me she had made a red blend package with available stock and she would send the price the next day so I could tell my guests and order. She stated that the next day my guests would be able to order online (another change in ordering instructions)She did not send me the price the next day. Additionally, their website did not list the wines she had offered for my curated experience. I once again had to reach out. At which point I expressed concerns again about the lack of responses and what are shipping options due to time it was taking to have this event set up. I wanted to invite people from out of the area and wanted to make sure they still get the wine. This concern was never addressed. She responded that an invoice had already been sent. I double checked my email and spam. No invoice. They did however charge my card for a package at a price I had no idea of. When I asked that they cancel the order and event they never apologized for the miscommunication nor did they take accountability. It was crystal clear that this winery was inept to handle virtual events, despite continued advertising. I had to cancel because of lack of communication and process in their end- it was clear a month notice was not enough to accommodate a virtual event they advertised. In comparison I was able to set up a virtual wine tasting with another winery in one 10 min phone call with another winery. DO NOT COUNT ON THIS WINERY TO UPHOLD WHAT THEY ADVERTISE OR YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED. Please note through out this process Herringer Estates continued to advertised they could do virtual wine tasting in there social media. Yet continue to struggle to respond timely, continue to tell me they were struggling with the POS and website Change. They stated to me that they have very low stock available -- it is quite disheartening to hear they were continuing to advertise things they can't deliver on. I joined this winery for their events, and honestly this experience has me questioning whether I made the right choice. The staff is was not responsive and did not address my concerns. read more

This review is LONG OVERDUE. My husband and I came here about two years ago with a Groupon Deal for a tasting & two free wine glasses.. Two years later, we are wine club member and we do not have any regrets. They treat you so well! I love how the owner took the time to call us and welcomed us to the Heringer Wine Club. Plus, the free perks are nice too. (No membership fees, Complimentary tastings and/or glass, discounts, VIP Tasting tickets and more) First of all, you will not regret coming to this family owned winery. The staff makes you feel so welcome and they're so friendly. I love places where they make you feel like you're at home. Upon arrival, you're immediately greeted by the staff. The best part is... there's no judgement if you're day-drinking at 11am. They have a nice selection of white and red wines.The wine slushie is amazing as well. My favorite is the Sparkling Chardonnay. It's so light, crisp and refreshing. Also, their Wine Social events is held on the 2nd Saturday every other month. (Next one is Sept 15th) They have a nice spread of goodies to compliment the wine and it's all included in the tasting. You're in for a treat. Cheers! read more

They say its a luau, and the last one was in Kauai and maui. . Well i was so excited, cuz i was window shopping one day and saw this amazing costume which i need one day, but don't know when. Since i saw that it fits this event, you know I'm done. Got my outfit and ready to hula them rolls til its gone for the night. . Well the costume is a straw dress, also straw around the arms and legs too, along with a straw hat with hawaiian flowers around the rim. As well bought a bright orange lei to go with my orange sunnies. . Arrived at the event and of course look at me ;). Sooo i went and got my drink ticket and got myself a wine slushie! And went to the gazebo and sit down. . Food was serving so of course made myself a big luau plate by hannible catering, some pineapple glazed teriyaki chicken, the pineapple shredded roasted pork, with a nice spinach strawberry quinoa spinach salad paired with some heringer wine which is the ultimate combo. . They gave a nice tour about the winery and history. Also the grass area is really nice with lots of tables set up, too bad it was a breezy day so it was colddddd.... although the wine and dancing did help warm things up. . My lovely friend got us a bottle of tunat and some rose for the after party. The tunat was a lovely settled refreshing red wine, as i was hula dancing with the drink in my hand with pinkies up, not one drop spilled, ain't i the pro. . The family is sweet. They saw me hula in my outfit they sure brought their camera out to video tape, boomerang, snapchat, ig, just show me off ;) . Overall i enjoyed my evening. Loved everything about the wine. Wine slushy just that is enough to calm one down. Also i really looking forwaes to their new barn they built which is pretty rad! Oh boy! This was a jam session, and I didn't even rock out! The wines here are overly sweet, lacking quality and jammy. The lady pouring was a bit prudish and not very inviting. The tasting room is one of many inside the charming Old Sugar Mill. Maybe the wine maker here should stop rocking out to "Pour Some Sugar On Me," and think about tannins, structure and balance. I couldn't even muster up the ability to buy a bottle. I already have plenty of jam at home. read more

My husband and I toured this location for a possible wedding venue. The pictures posted on their Instagram and website are absolutely beautiful. But when we showed up, we were highly disappointed in the venue. It seems very messy, and disorganized. The surrounding area around the barn, was old and not put together. The landscaping was not done as well. For the price point, it was definitely not worth the venue. read more

I'm not sure what's going on there but we've gone three weekends in a row & each & every time we have had bad service. Long waits to be seated (or even acknowledged) despite making a reservation & it takes a good 10 minutes to check out at the counter (because our server would disappear without coming back to the table.) We're members of the winery so this is doubly frustrating. It's either there aren't enough servers or the servers working just don't care; I haven't fully determined which is more true at the moment. Always my favorite stop when I'm in California. The atmosphere is incredible, the staff is friendly and has a ton of knowledge on the wines, and the wines are fantastic. I'm from Pittsburgh PA and try to get out to California as often as possible, this is one of the wineries I can't skip and WONT skip! My family owns a winery in Pittsburgh, we get tannat and teroldego grapes from Heringers. We are always treated like family when we visit, but I do think they make most people feel the same way which is fantastic (especially in this business). Alex is the best. Very helpful with all of the wines, accommodating, and friendly. Lucy and Kathy are fantastic to work with as well, and of course the whole Heringer family! Love everything about this place, the tasting barn, the ambiance/atmosphere, all of it, but the wine and the people are where it's at. Go to Heringer's you'll love it! read more

Amazing wine, great wine slushy, but most importantly, lovely people! Glad I became part of the Heringer Wine Club family. I actually met them at the Capitol Mall farmer's market, and their folks were kind, well-informed, and shared their service with great enthusiasm. The bottles are introduced with food pairing ideas, and are marked with tidbits of information of your drink: from tones, flavor, palette etc. Their location is tastefully accented with decor, wine accessories, and accolades from competitions. Did I mention they have some well-placed gold medal winners in their selection? Check out their Primitivo and Port. While the tasting room may get busy at times, you are rewarded for your wait. This was the last stop of three tastings in Old Sugar Mill, and I was pleasantly surprised. Anthony was absolutely amazing. Being in the wine industry myself, I passed the reigns to him to pour me whatever he felt was a good representation of their brand, while listening to (and taking into consideration) the styles that I particularly like. I loved being able to talk a little shop with him about the wines and their story, but it was also just a very chill inviting atmosphere. I had a couple other friends with me who aren't particularly wine drinkers (one had never had red wine until that day, the other preferred super sweet), and he was fantastic at finding wines to fit their palates. I was so impressed with their wine, their tasting room, and Anthony, I joined the wine club, even living four hours away. Def stop in here, you won't be disappointed. read more
