The fig old fashioned is the best drink ever

This location is in the center of the 5th St Public market which is completely covered and great for a drink when it's raining so you can still feel like you're on a patio. We lucked out on the days we visited because they have $5 drinks all day Tuesday and $5 whiskey drinks on Wednesdays. That is an absolute steal because the drinks are top tier. They have a ton of bottles to purchase as well as canned cocktails and mixers. We love this place in Eugene and make it a point to have a drink there every time we visit.

Such a cuuuute spot that we happened to find and I'm so glad we did. They have every flavor of vodka imaginable and they are amazing. I am a lemon drop girl and their lemon drop flight is amazing!!!! If you're in the area, please try this spot. The staff is also fabulous!

Went on a Tuesday and cocktails were $5 normally $12 so great deal. Their drinks are always good! Normally service can be hit and miss but we had a great server. Atmosphere is great located right on 5th street Ally shops and during the holiday season it's beautiful and a great place to stop for a drank

I had the Marry Me chicken meal, which had a delightful cream sauce with spinach, broccolini squash, and sun-dried tomatoes. The cream sauce was deliciously sweet and the chicken was as tender as I've had in almost forever. I also had a green salad with blue cheese dressing, which was very nice. A couple of my friends had cocktails and they thought they were very good. Other meals to my friends included the Poutine Fries; The breaded pork chop (schnitzel) and the shrimp pasta. One person had the hard cider and enjoyed that, and then of course, at the end of the meal, they have these delicious little chocolates two of us had them and one person had the chocolate pot re crème. All of us loved every bite. And they have done away with including the tip for the meal. Our server, Ross, managed five gabby women, each wanting a separate check, with aplomb, grace and kindness.

I've lived here for around 5 years, and another 15 years up in Salem and this little restaurant is a gem in every respect. I've been to Rye at least 4 times since moving here. I had heard about it from friends and so my partner and I first tried it out and were highly impressed with the food, the servce and the ambiance. The menu is just a bit limited but between the specials and the menu offerings, there was plenty to choose from. Above all, what they do, they do very well. I and my partner ate at Rye three nights ago and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience in every way. AMBIENCE... The dining room is terrific. Lots of dark wood. The lighting of the room is especially conducive to privacy but not isolation. Inasmuch as it was raining to beat the band when we arrived, entering felt like a welcoming respite. The patrons' chatter was subdued but clearly they were having a great time. FOOD... We ordered cocktails (I enjoyed a Cocchi Rye whiskey cocktail which was delicious. The French onion soup I ordered was also very tasty and loaded with mozzarella atop the cup. I then dived into a "special" plate of a Chinook salmon fillet, finished perfectly and sitting on a bed or pureed squash. Excellent, I thought. Afterwards, we shared some sort of fruity pastry, sharing with two forks. SERVICE... From where I sat I could watch the bar activity, even the service window into the kitchen allowed me to watch all the activity. Our server was very efficient and cheerful and engaging without being overbearing in any way. AFTERTHOUGHTS: I will be coming back, of course. Rye is where you want to go to have a very good time eating out. You're not going to spend an arm and a leg to eat there but Rye is definitely not Denny's. I think this was my fourth trip there and all four times I felt thoroughly satisfied in every way.

Rye - We've really been enjoying Rye Restaurant. We just had some truffle ice cream with strawberries, and it was sublime.

Ordered the Ikura onigiri and the Japanese Sweet Potato and the Agadashi Tofu. (I asked for miso butter on the side for me because I have found it overwhelms the potato which is seasoned really wonderfully). The Ikura Onirigi was simple and excellent. My favorite wishes that they would create an regular Onirigi Happy Hour where they are on discount so that those of us who just want to have half a dozen of those and a few drinks can come in and experience our heart's delight. My drink of choice here is the Painkiller -- which is really well balanced and so delicious it's hard not to have a second. Wednesdays are when they have two dollars off the ginger-based drinks and I didn't try it this time but I am keen to the next time because they appear to crush the ginger in house and make their own ginger concoction magic. The bar was thankfully not crowded. As an introvert it was nice to be finishing up and heading out just as more people were coming in.

The place was packed, but thankfully we were seated quite quickly with a 5-10 minute wait. The interior is cozy and welcoming. It's dimly lit with mood lighting on the tables. It felt lively since the tables were packed. We started by ordering the sake and shoyu flights and some fries with wasabi mayo while we explored the rest of their menu. We received the flights quickly. Both flights had 3 flavors and were tasty and fun to try. Each flight comes with a menu describing the flavor profile and how the drinks were made. The flavors of each flight were distinct and matched their descriptions. The fries with wasabi mayo were pretty basic fries. They were well seasoned, had a nice crunch, and the mayo had a subtle wasabi flavor without it being spicy. For our next round we ordered the salmon misoyaki, butternut squash, tofu kushiyaki, and steak kushiyaki. Unfortunately, our server forgot to bring our butternut squash, but we ended up being full with the rest of the food we ordered and just took it off our order. The salmon misoyaki was delicious - perfectly cooked, tender, and well seasoned. The mustard greens on the side added a nice sourness. The tofu kushiyaki was tender and flavorful. The steak kushiyaki was well-seasoned, but more well done than I preferred and a little tough. Next, we ordered the spinach goma ae and umeboshi unigiri. The spinach goma ae was such a pleasant surprise! It's a chilled spinach dish with a tamari/black sesame sauce that was refreshing mid-meal. Really good umami flavor! The umeboshi onigiri had the expected sharp salty/sour flavor that balanced well with the ratio of rice. Ended up dipping the umeboshi onigiri in the goma ae sauce to get every last drop. For dessert we ordered the basque cheesecake and créme brûlée. The cheesecake was just okay. The menu said there was sake and black sesame flavors, but apart from some black sesame dust on the plate we couldn't taste the sake/sesame. The texture was thick and not super smooth. It was a pretty heavy dessert and not very sweet. The créme brûlée was yummy. The custard was smooth and the crunchy caramelized sugar on top was a nice contrast in texture and flavor. The service itself was slow. We were waiting around 15 minutes between orders. Given, it was a busy night. However, we felt a bit forgotten as our server did forget to bring one of our dishes, we had to ask for our dessert menus twice, and we were accidentally served two basque cheesecakes instead of our order of cheesecake and créme brûlée. The staff were friendly, and quickly brought out the correct desserts at the end. I'd recommend ordering more dishes at once so you can enjoy more food in between orders. Would definitely come back again to try the rest of their menu. We wanted to try the Japanese sweet potato but they had sold out that night. The oysters, sashimi, and udon also looked quite good!

I really wanted to like this place because it's the one fairly fancy place in town...but, it was a disappointing experience. We got to the restaurant for our 10am reservation but the door didn't open until exactly 10. People huddled under the porch because it was raining fairly hard. We were shown inside, then back outside to another room to our table. We ordered and they said the buffet was in the tent-outside. So, coat & rain hood back on to go to the buffet. Unfortunately, the buffet wasn't ready so we went back to our seats. The buffet wasn't ready for around 20 minutes-because some of the kitchen crew called in sick so they were operating with less help. The remaining crew was working hard to get it set up. So they were doing a good job-they just needed more help. The buffet had: Eggs, Potatoes, Bacon, Sausage, Biscuits & Gravy, Jalapeño Cheddar Bagels, Smoked Salmon, Salad, Dressing, Potato Dill Soup, an Omelet bar and Prime Rib. Unfortunately, most of the food we got wasn't warm. I think the top of the chafing dishes were able to cool off, even though, the bottom was hot. Didn't know that until going back in. Thats a dangerous situation where bacteria can grow. The bread was excellent. It was a chewy Italian bread. The butter balls were firm so hard to spread. There were bagels and smoked salmon but it would have been nice to have something other than just jalapeño cheddar bagels for the smoked salmon. Maybe, get something more neutral in flavor that more people would eat. I think I have fairly normal tastes and love biscuits & gravy but the biscuits and gravy had an odd flavor to me. I wasn't a fan but that may be a preference. The prime rib was ok but not terribly tasty. The Potato dill soup was just ok, too. The omelet bar probably was the safe choice since you pick your ingredients but I make those often at home so I wanted to try other things. I think they are trying to be fancy instead of just making good food that everybody would like. Service was good. We did have to wait for coffee but overall they were nice and did a good job letting people know when the buffet was ready. Overall: Ambiance is 5/5; Service 4/5, Food-the temperature, late food and having to walk in the rain to the tent and back with a plate of food while getting rained on drops the overall score to 3/5. Opening that heavy door with a plate of food is a problem, too. Maybe have the tent right outside the entrance to the main dining room so your customers and their full plates don't have to be out in the rain. There has to be a better way.
