Every time we're in town we come here! I have literally no complaints or ideas about anything they could do better. The staff is very welcoming and attentive and the space is cute. Everything I've had here has been great and when we've recommended it to people they've loved it too. On our most recent visit I ordered the flat iron steak (a cut of meat I don't love) and it was amazing! Perfectly cooked and went very well with the sides. My husband got the monkfish which was buttery and delicious. Their drinks are also some of the best I've had. Well-balanced and interesting with funny names like the "bitter about my hot friend" and "does this spark joy?". I highly recommend heritage. read more

Interesting and tasty fusion food. We had the Tuna Tartare and Fried Oyster as appetizers. The red tuna was fresh and mixed well with the green seaweed and some fish roe in a pink ginger, soy, and wasabi, and spread on black rice crackers. For entries, we ordered the Monkfish with local in season vegetables, the duck breast with kim chi fried rice, and housemade shell pasta. All tasted great except the kim chi rice was a little too flavoured for this white rice addict. Service was attentive and the waitress kept our water glasses constantly refilled. read more

Pretty good restaurant set-up and ambiance. The ceiling has a random assortment of noise canceling tiles and it's relatively dirty... random thing to notice but once you have, it's hard to not look. The cheese plate is just okay - not as good as Secco. The duck entree is savory and salty but doesn't have any additional flavor to add to the dish. The service at the bar is just okay - it's almost like they're overwhelmed and forget what they are supposed to be doing. Had to wait to pay the bill for over 5 minutes and then they charged the wrong amount. Key thing to note - the happy hour only applies to the bar seating! The parking can be difficult. Checked out Heritage for brunch and I'll definitely be returning! The food is so so good, and if you are a pancake person like me, I'd definitely recommend getting some of these! They were amazing and fluffy, just like I like 'em! Just a heads up, brunch was packed! We had reservations but, could see all the people waiting for seats so make sure you call ahead or plan to wait! With that being said, our server was awesome and checked on us frequently! If brunch isn't your thing, they have a great drink selection as well, so if you are just looking for a different atmosphere to grab some drinks,I'd recommend this location! A couple of decades ago I lived in Richmond. Fan was already an interesting neighborhood but there wasn't much foodie/hippieish establishments. Now, diving thru the city on my way to RDU, I could feel the artsy, hip, energetic vibe. It still had that laid back feel but everything else just kicked up a couple of notches. The place was packed on a Tuesday evening. I was there early, around 6, because I still have a couple of hours driving to go. The customers were definitely from the neighborhood or not far away. The cocktail menu was interesting. And, it seemed that everyone was having a cocktail. Since I have to drive, I curbed my urge to have one of those as one was never enough with cocktail. I tried the pork fries and the recommended pasta dish - bolognese. Both were 'simple' dishes but perfectly executed. The pork fries were crispy on the outside and moist, flavorful on the inside. The pasta was great but wished that the kitchen would kick it up a notch with some hot pepper. Overall, I feel this is a great place to have a casual dinner, any night of the week. read more

When the very first impression is bad (rude hostess), it's hard to give a place a good review. So I struggle with my star rating. The bad: I didn't have a reservation, and the hostess told me I had to sit at the bar. Mind you, there were at least six empty tables. Okay, whatever. This wouldn't have been so bad except everyone else who came in without a reservation were asked if they wanted to be on a wait list for a table, and at least two of them got tables! WTF? Why didn't she ask me if I wanted to be on the wait list for a table? Also, the martinis are $12. That's cool, but when they're $12, they should be filled to the top of the glass. They should always be filled to the top of the glass. Mine was literally half full (see photo). The good: the food. Period. It's amazing. I got the salmon with quinoa, and it was beautifully presented, and I savored every bite. The greedy me would've liked a larger portion, but it was probably what it should've been. The martini, though half full, was also good. The ambiance is also warm and cozy. Good date spot. In summary, do not go without a reservation. Do not expect large portions. The food is amazing. I stopped in while on a short business trip based on the other reviews on Yelp. It did not disappoint. I wasnt lookin for happy hour but I stopped in during it. They had several drink and appetizer specials and I had one of the specialty Old Fasion cocktails. It was very good and the bartender was very helpful. For an appetizer I had the fried broccoli......amazing. I'm not sure how they do it, but it's a must try. For dinner I had the braised short ribs. They were very tender and delicious. Although parking can be a little tricky since Heritage is downtown, it's a nifty little restaurant worth trying out. The place was packed on Friday night, as it seems very popular. It's a medium-sized place with a good amount of seats. When dining here, it felt like I was in someone's home; the atmosphere was very lively, but also welcoming. Our server was excellent, explaining all of the specials and also offering his personal menu favorites. I lost count of the number of times he refilled my water glass; he was so on top of things! Then again, the glasses were fairly small, and I drink a lot of water with my meals. As for the food itself, my dining companion and I shared two medium plates (essentially appetizers) and two large plates (entrees), as well as a single dessert. The appetizers (asparagus, pork belly) were phenomenal. The pork belly was super scrumptious (mostly because of all the succulent fat). The asparagus was tasty too, especially accompanied by the fried head cheese and poached egg. As for entrees, I had the trout, which came served with some hot, fluffy polenta. My friend had the steak, which was excellent, and was served with "fried rice" (literally, crunchy deep fried balls of rice). Both entrees were fresh and flavorful, and ever so elegantly plated/presented. The portion size was modest but decent. The vanilla bean cheesecake for dessert was also incredibly memorable. It was certainly not your traditional cheesecake! The "crust" came as crumbled powder juxtaposed with three football-shaped dollops of aerated cheesecake whip. There were also rhubarb cubes and small droplets of a minty green liquid, which accompanied the cheesecake well when eaten in the same bite. Overall, an excellent establishment. 4.5 Stars. I came here for brunch and ordered the chicken and waffles. Let me tell you that this was my second chicken and waffles experience... my first one wasn't so great... because it included a raspberry waffle that was just way too sweet for the flavors of the savory chicken IMO. However the chicken and waffles here are amazing!!! I'm so glad I gave it another go. The price was pretty moderate at $11, and the food came out in less than 10 minutes. The waffle is listed on their menu as: "crispy strips, cheddar waffle, 'hot' honey, chives" This sounds really strange at first, but it is actually surprisingly good because the cheddar is not overpowering at all. The chicken was tender with a perfect crunch to it--Not too crunchy to the point where it's a hazard and will cut your mouth, and not too soggy where it just isn't even fried chicken anymore. The cheddar waffle itself was also made well, being lightly toasted on the outside, while soft and fluffy on the inside. The cheddar flavor is noticeable and definitely there, but not overpowering, and does not steal the chicken and waffle show. The flavors melded together so well in your mouth with the sweet hot honey (hot because they make it with a bit of chili oil I noticed, but its very good and actually not spicy at all, just gives it a little kick!) and chives that its almost impossible not to finish your whole meal! Service was friendly and quick, and we got a table right away, but make sure you come in prior to 11AM before the brunch rush starts on Sundays (they don't take reservations on Sundays)! Eggs Benny FTW! DO IT!! Some of the best eggs benedict I have ever had, anywhere. Heritage was on my must-try list for a recent trip to Richmond. We came right near opening for brunch on Sunday and we got lucky- they were totally slammed and we got one of the last tables. What was really unfortunate was that they were catering to a huge wedding party that took up nearly half the restaurant. And because the whole party didn't show up at the same time, those who were there were just lingering, ordering drinks (or worse, drinking water) but not ordering food. This threw off the entire flow of the front of the house, the bar, the wait staff, and the kitchen. So at first our experience was all downhill. The woman who sat us seemed frantic and appeared to be speaking whatever was going on in her brain, but we did get a table. Our server was the same - seemed completely stressed out and barely spoke 5 words to us. We ordered coffee (and me, a cocktail). The coffee arrived, but not the drink, before our server came back to take our brunch order. We decided to share the eggs benny and the chicken & waffles. Maybe 5 minutes later an eggs benny was dropped/flung onto our table, between us, before we had a chance to ask for a sharing plate or where the heck our other dish was. Or, where the heck my drink was because I still had not received it at this time. Finally we waved someone down, got a sharing plate, and this is where things turned around. The dish was incredible! BRAVO to the kitchen staff, because not only was this dish a great concept but it was executed beautifully. The pork was soooo tender, and completely unexpected for an eggs benedict. Also the eggs were poached beautifully. As if it couldn't get any better, I thought the home fries were awesome, fried to perfection and seasoned really well. I finally got my drink - it was OK but would not reorder - and FINALLY got our chicken & waffles. It was pretty much a second course at that point. Our server let us know that due to the wait that dish was on the house. Apparently they were having some electrical problems in the kitchen. I give them 4/5 stars for how they handled that situation - it would have been nice had we been provided that explanation up front as opposed to the "it'll just be a few minutes longer" that we got a few times. The chicken & waffles were well worth the wait, both the chicken and waffle were spot-on. But if you're trying to decide, go for the eggs benny. I'd definitely come back here -the atmosphere was great, and they played GREAT music that was perfect for brunch. Just don't be THAT table that brought 30 people who all didn't show up at the same time. If you want a private party, pay the dang restaurant the fee to do it. Here I was, walking in the rain with the MOST prego food baby belly, thinking to myself; man I wish I could have eaten the rest of those peas - I left maybe 12... 15 peas on the plate. But, I blame the vibrations. The possible delusion of the persistent slight shake that did naught but settle the meal but drive a man mad. "You're probably a little confused, so I'm gonna do that thing I kinda hate where the book rewinds to fill in all the blanks. Sorry, let's do it" Chapter 1: The relentless rain. I was sitting in my hotel room watching sheets of rain pummel the streets of Richmond thinking to myself "Am I really gonna trudge out in this mess." But I made a list. A perfectly curated list. So many food destinations in Richmond I wanted to hit before my quick 2.25 day trip was over. Was it pure luck or magic that the rain seemed to die down as soon as I called the valet for my car, I don't know. All I knew at the time was that this restaurant was gonna close at 10pm and that if they closed the kitchen early (like most restaurants in my area)... I was gonna be hard pressed to make it back to one of the highest rated Yelp restaurants in Richmond. Chapter 2: Illusion Delusion. I was ready to walk around the corner of the building and see a packed restaurant with a 15-20 minute wait, but lucky me, I came into a majorly empty restaurant with only 3 other tables full. One of them being a table of 8, but none the less, this place was empty. The bartender was quick to welcome me and ask me if I wanted a seat at the bar or at a table. I'll always choose table if I have a chance. Approximately 17.5 percent of bar stools are comfortable, and I'm not willing to take that risk. I kinda noticed once I sat down that there was a slight vibration on the floor. I figured that it was just a dishwasher or something running behind the bar... but it became more curious when the vibration continued pretty much through my entire meal. I wanted to ask the very nice bartender what it was about... but it was so minimal that it didn't bother me too much... well at least at the time being. But after searching the Yelp reviews on the page... no one ever mentions vibrate, vibration or anything of the like. So was I just imagining this? I went ahead and ordered the Charcuterie and the Gemelli Pasta. I took a second to look at the menu... as if I hadn't already decided exactly what I wanted an hour before I arrived. But it just seemed to odd turning away the menu and stating my order like I had been a regular there for ages. Like some Victorian ghost who believes that he is still alive and comes into an unfamiliar space and acts as if everyone else is crazy. Chapter 3: Housemade huh? Charcuterie: Housemade meat something with housemade cider mustard (tasted akin to corned beef), housemade lardo with housemade onion jam, housemade summer sausage, with housemade pimento cheese, housemade pizza taso with dijon mustard. Housemade pickles in the middle and slices of crostini. Funny enough... the only thing I didn't love was the crostini #NotMadeInHouse; everything else was delicious. The crostini were way too dry and brittle. Housemade Gemelli Pasta: English peas, preserved meyer lemon, local mushrooms, ricotta salata, mint. This dish was freakin' delicious. I'm embarrassed to say it, but I think it needed a little more preserved lemon to brighten it up... so I asked for lemon from the bar (and whilst noone is watching) I hope, I spritzed a little on the pasta. This literally made this dish perfect to my taste. There was an option to add buratta cheese to the dish. DEFINITELY do that. The bites with the buratta were my favorite bites. The dish is rich... and somewhat heavy. I probably could have done without the charcutterie platter. Actually, let's not kid ourselves; I 100 percent could have done without the charcuterie platter... But I left some of the charcutterie! There was like... 1 piece of crostini and some pickles left on the plate #SelfControl. Chapter 4: Service Fit For A High King Throughout the meal the service from the bartender was excellent in all ways, shapes, and forms. She was quick to attend to me, she wasn't overly in my face. She served the charcuterie platter and waited till the perfect time to fire my pasta. First world pet peeve: when you get the appetizers and the entrees to the table at basically the same time. I feel rushed on the app and then the entree is getting cold. I heard her call into the kitchen to fire it when I was like 5/6ths done with the charcuterie board. She was extra pleasant, super sweet, and was just the perfect server in every way. I was even there past close, and she told me not to rush as she was gonna be there for a while closing out the bar. This is an adorable place for brunch! The neighborhood is cute, and the inside is cute, and the food is delicious. Can't go wrong there. I got the nutella french toast since nutella is my weakness. I can't say no to it. The french toast was good, but there was just a dollop of nutella between the two hearty slices of bread. I had been hoping for enough to go around for each bite of toast, but perhaps my nutella-fanaticism was hoping for a whole jar of it... however, the amount of food given was pretty good for $9! Also tasted the duck confit, chicken and waffles, and the big hot mess, all of which were cooked perfectly and tasted wonderful! Went with some friends for brunch on Sunday. I hate to start out with a complaint, but since this really is hard to control with a restaurant this size I want to get it over with - there was no 'easy' way to stand in line. Walked in, there were people standing on either side of the curtain (blocking the cold from getting inside). There's no host stand and people are just sort of standing there. One of the guests told me she'd 'be back', so we waited. We had reservations and the other folks were standing in line waiting on a table, once we actually saw the hostess we were able to get seated. There were four of us, three of us were drinkers and we were quite pleased with their adult beverage choices! Because I don't Yelp when I'm out of town, I've now completely forgotten what everyone got - I got their version of Eggs Benie and they were SO good! Best holllandaise sauce probably EVER (be sure to add the pimento cheese). The waitress was very helpful and so very nice. She was also a good sport when we pointed out the very odd use of quotes (both single and double) on the menu. She made menu suggestions and drink suggestions, based on what we said we liked. Sunday brunch for the win! Came here with my dad and at 10:45 and totally feasted! This was my first time making a reservation through the Yelp app and it worked beautifully. I had the Big Hot Vegan Mess and it was glorious! The dish was very salty, but I like good on the saltier side, so I was definitely not mad at It! My dad had the Big Hot Mess with BBQ pork belly and said that it was delicious and very filling. I also ordered one of their brunch cocktails, the Rosa and bubbly. I am totally blanking on the name but it contained Rosa, elderflower, grapefruit and bubbly- sweet but delicious! I was finally able to try their dinner service with a group of girlfriends! Their dinner menu consists of small, medium, and large plate categories. Overall, I think this place offers great food at a reasonable price. Aside from the desserts, my group thoroughly enjoyed everything! --SMALL-- [$4-8] Some standouts included their chicken liver pate, which was super creamy, and their pulled pork "fries". I was in town to finish up my tattoo at Loose Screws so I decided to relax and feed myself before driving back home. I check yelp and found this place. I got great parking right on the street across from Heritage. I walked in to a small entrance way that was dropped in cloth(interesting). I told the hostess it was just me and she suggested I sit at the bar. I asked for a table but she looked concerned about giving a table to just me. So I made my way to the bar. I was greeted very promptly by two smiling, friendly woman behind the bar. They poured me water and ask if I wanted a drink. I very quickly ordered the fried oysters and then a drink from there interesting drink menu. The oysters were so delicious as they were paired with pickled carrots and pickles Yummmmm! My drink was perfect (I could actually taste the alcohol & not just juice) and it was beautiful! The atmosphere was super chill and I could definitely tell that the management and staff cared about the experience of the patrons. I ordered the burger with French fries medium rare! I ate the burger so fast I could not get a picture of the perfectly cooked medium rare patty! My only ding is the French fried were salty and a bit hard(small detail). Overall my experience was fabulous. I would come back again and recommend this restaurant to other people. Thank you to the bartenders for putting on a really fun show. Heritage is firing on all cylinders. On our first visit to Richmond, we were blown away. We arrived a bit late on a Friday night around 9:30 pm, and the place was full. Fortunately, our table was ready within a few minutes, but I would not have fretted had I need to order a drink at the bar. With exposed brick walls, a wood bar the extends along most of the dining space, and a collection of tables and a few booths near the front windows, it's a cozy, but speakeasyish decor. I started off with the Brooklyn Zoo cocktail, which was whiskey based. One of my go-to bourbons is Eagle Rare as it is bold, complex, and generally a great value. The drink also included sazerac rye, contralto rosso, bitters and arak. The arak intrigued me as well having spent time in Indonesia where the liquor has been made famous for killing tourists due to the methanol (a byproduct of brewing rice and coconut palm flowers). History lesson aside, the Brooklyn Zoo was fantastic, very well balanced, boozy with an edgy finish. Definitely a "drinkers drink." We started off with the charcuterie platter, which was very good, but a few items were too salty. Very diverse platter, but my only complaint was that it only contained two slices of each cured meat, which doesn't allow a party of more than 2 to share. I thought the coppa was outstanding and so was the pancetta. We also ordered the heirloom tomato salad, which I HIGHLY recommend. Delicious burrata cheese, crunchy homemade croutons and the tomato jam was unique treat. Very large portion and a steal for only $8. For my entree I ordered the bucatini pasta, which I really enjoyed. Excellent homemade pasta, a deep, bold tomato sauce. The pork belly meatballs were hearty and delicious. Another dish I would definitely order again. Overall we had a superb dinner at Hertiage. Our service was very attentive and food was paced perfectly. I came to Heritage a couple months ago to celebrate my boyfriend's new job. We perused the online menu and Yelp and thought this would be a good pick for the night. Our service was very good and the bartenders were informative and nice but we were not quite as impressed by the food. We were first a little let down that steak was on the online menu but not on the printed menu in the restaurant. I understand that the menu online is subject to change but it's faster to update a website than print a menu. My boyfriend was kinda disappointed so he opted for the pasta instead. Unfortunately they portion of the pasta dish was really not enough and still left him hungry after so although it tasted pretty good, it didn't feel worth the cost, especially as compared to the cost and portion of mine. I had the duck with mushroom risotto. The duck was delicious and the risotto was the perfect consistency, but there mushroom was a little overwhelming and I got a little sick of it towards the end of the meal. Overall we didn't have a bad experience, but I wish it could have been a little better since we were out for a celebration. read more

I wish I could give Heritage more than 5 stars. That's how good it was. To start, the service was wonderful. Our server was attentive but not over-the-top. She did a great job answering our questions and giving recommendations. Heritage also great bar offerings. They're known for craft cocktails, but they have many other options as well. I liked that they had some Virginia wines on the menu. For apps, we chose the pork belly and the pimento cheese croquettes. Holy cow, I could've eaten a whole dinner worth of both. The pork belly was far and away the best I've ever had. It was so tender and flavorful. I ordered a pasta entree with crab meat and clam sauce, which was great. I found it a touch salty but still delicious. My fiancé ordered the flounder. He thought it was incredible. For dessert, we got the "cheesecake". It was kind of a deconstructed version. My only complaint is that I wish we'd ordered 4 of them because it was ridiculously good and I could've eaten a lot more. I'm honestly not a dessert person, but this was beyond delicious. We really enjoyed this restaurant. Firstly, they're great if you have allergies. Subs are easy here. We got the fish dip gluten free, and then the specials: mussels and crab salad. All were very good. The pace of the meal was nice not rushed nor slow. The staff was very knowledgeable and attentive. Desserts were quite tasty. We got the cheese... highly recommend. I had a reservation for two, for which I had to wait to be seated for 15 min. This was fine because I was waiting on my second person anyways. I was finally seated at a 4 top, which I thought was weird considering how bustling they were. Whatever, not my job. My guest was running a bit late and the manager had the audacity to come make sure my friend was coming because they had a large group coming at some point and they were wanting to use this table. Well, honestly, if that was an issue, they shouldn't have seared me at this particular table. I went ahead and ordered a drink for myself and even the guy joining me, to show that I was somewhat sorry my friend was late. My Bloody Mary was the worst I've ever had. Tasted like tomato juice mixed with water and olive juice. V8 tastes better than the beverage I was served. My friend downed his mimosa and ordered a second. So I'm assuming it was delicious. The food came and we both got the Big Hot Mess. Delicious. Honestly if I was reviewing just this dish, I'd be giving a 5 star rating. However, 10 min into eating (I was watching time bc they dropped the food off 7 min after it was ordered and it surprised me), the waitress plopped the check on the table! We were clearly only halfway finished with our plates and my friend had taken two sips of his second mimosa. I got annoyed, but was still apologetic. After about two minutes of the check sitting on the table, I pulled out my wallet to pay and like a hawk she comes over and snags plates, still clearly not finished. I still even had a fork prepared with a bite! I put cash with the check and we sat waiting to finish my friends drink. The waitress came and snapped the bill. We left with 3/4 of a $8 mimosa left on the table and my entire bloody. Did you forget about the food because of how frustrated you are by the story of bad service? So did we. read more

I FINALLY made it to Heritage a couple of weekends ago for my friends Birthday Brunch. It's been on my list of places to try and I am glad my birthday friend wanted to come here. It's a two min drive down Main St from the VCU Monroe Park campus so it's easily within walking distance coming from VCU. Someone from our party made reservations right when they opened at 10.30AM on a Sunday. There was already a line out the door, about 10 people deep, We proceeded to walk in and walk past the line when a lady said "excuse me, the line starts here" in a very rude tone; my friend politely said we have reservations and kept on moving. It was kind of funny, but I digress. The brunch menu is short and sweet (it has about 10 or so items to choose from). I chose the big hot mess which was: pulled pork, potatoes, smoked cream cheese, tomato aioli, cheddar and I added a poached egg for an extra $2 and "house made bacon" for $3. My first impression of the food when it came out was how small the portion was and that comment was the same for a few other people in our group. But sometimes, the quality is more important than the quantity. The potatoes were some of the best I've ever had: crispy on the outside, soft on the inside and seasoned very well. The pork itself was tasty and not overcooked. The runny egg oozing all over my plate really made the dish. I was pleasantly surprised by how full I actually got. Regarding the "house made bacon"... I am not sure if I would go that far as to describing it as such. It was fairly basic/standard bacon you can find at your local Golden Corral or buffet. Although I did get more than three slices, it was fairly crumbly and broken up.. My friend got the chicken and waffles and I had some of that and the waffle actually tasted better than the chicken. Maybe it's just me but I always prefer a bone in chicken with my meal. He also was stating that his dish was fairly small as well. The reason why it's not a four star review is because when we got the checks all of our checks were much higher than they should have been.. the way the checks were printed, it did not list out all the additional costs: adding egg, bacon, extra side, etc so it was all lumped together and it made it appear that we were paying more than we were supposed to. Someone came by and stated she would print us new checks but they never did.. So when our waitress came by and we expressed our concerns she just said "that's just the way we do things here". Ultimately we figured it out on our own but they could have done a better job explaining it. I would definitely come here for brunch again though! read more

Main St. This spot has been going strong for the past 7 years by the culinary stylings, and dare I say, "food consciousness" of Chef and Owner, Joe Sparatta and his amazing staff. For all of the amazing reviews, we were a little disappointed. Made a reservation for 5:45p on a Friday night and got there a little early. We were seated quickly, in a nice corner. Unfortunately, the windows are not insulated and man they let the cold air in. We wore our coats the entire meal. Started with the smoked fish dip ($6) and cheese plate ($10). Both were fine, I'll admit I liked the pita chips that came with the dip more than the fish dip... They don't tell you what's on the cheese plate, and we weren't told what the different cheeses were when it arrived at the table. It would have been nice to know! I also ordered an angostura sour ($11?), and they're not kidding when they say "schloads of angostura bitters": it's quite bitter. I'm also not a big drinker, so someone with a more refined palate than I may like the drink. Dinner: local flounder ($24) and hanger steak 'bourgignon' ($24). The flounder was cooked perfectly, but the rest of the dish was incredibly oversalted. By contrast, the steak didn't seem to have any seasoning at all. I guess I was encouraged to drink loads of water with my fish - poetic justice for the fish?? The place did get fairly busy with the tight pants, pomaded hair, mustachioed crowd by the time we left (around 6:45p). The starters were delighful (pimento cheese for the win!). For mains we had the bolognese and the kale gemelli pasta. Pasta was clearly made in house and perfectly al dente. It's been about 7years since I've been able to come back, so I was worried that reality might not be as good as my memories. I was thrilled that the drinks and food were as good as I remembered. I got the Everything's Eventual to drink, dry aged rib eye steak to eat then for appearance sake with the chocolate candy bar for dessert. The drinks were well balance and flavorful. I recently came here for happy hour and was so thrilled by the quality of the food, cocktails and atmosphere. The restaurant has a sophisticated vibe that isn't overwhelming and still feels welcoming for a casual-attire after work drink. I ordered a specialty cocktail for 6$ called the cosmic dancer and was very impressed. The drink had Greek yogurt which added a subtle creaminess (is that the word?) to the beverage. The meat and cheese board had a great selection of jams, mustards, meats and cheeses. I will definitely return! read more

Can we just talk about how good that Garlic Parmesan Housemade Pasta is, when the burrata melts in to the creamy corn sauce and creates cheesy pasta perfection and those fresh-off-the-vine local Virginia tomatoes dissolved with such a rich, juicy, glorious pop in the mouth? Okay, it's really really good. (Plating was just as gorgeous as the food was divine, as well! Every plate here is a tantalizing work of art.) They change their menu constantly, based on what ingredients they can get their hands on, which is really cool, because it means you can always get the chance to try something new, fresh and unique from the mind of a very savvy chef. Their mixed drinks are smooth, intelligent, unique and the list is talented and expansive, as is their finely purveyed and tuned beer list, mostly hailing from Richmond's phenomenal local breweries, cideries and distilleries; staff is knowledgeable enough about alcohol flavorings, whether it be wine, cocktails or beers to suggest really amazing pairings too, which is always fun (the Ardent Dry-Hopped Saison, smooth, light and sweet paired so well with the rich, creamy pasta!) Also, always ask about the specials-- they use whatever they could get a hold of that day and so they're always small batch, unique and super fresh! The interior is "rustic chic," "tastefully minimalist," but doubles as both a upper-casual laid-back dining experience, as well as the kind of place you could take a client or a date and they would praise you for weeks to come. It is very small, as are most restaurants in Richmond, and other than the first-come-first-serve constant rotation at the busy bar, it's the kind of place you're going to want a reservation; even on a Tuesday evening, it was completely booked all night. It is loud, because it's so small and most of the parties are large-- it's a place mostly reserved for special occasions and work dinners, so people are going to be spirited! Roll with it! Unwind, have fun, enjoy the experience! (What I'm trying to say is that I wouldn't call it "intimate," even though the space is very small; it doesn't feel claustrophobic at all, though. Very tasteful.) Service was pretty hectic, and I don't blame them. Completely slammed floor, small staff and a lot of demands from all over (they still maintained kindness, courtesy and patience despite being constantly in the weeds, and everyone's food came out scalding hot and perfectly cooked) some doubling at the bar and full service, so expect to wait, order a few drinks, treat it as an event and don't go to Heritage if you have anywhere to be that night, but the food and experience is good enough to be worth the kicking back and living in the moment. I highly recommend making this a place to get to any time you can, and definitely a destination if you want to impress someone with Richmond's culinary offerings. Had an amazing brunch experience! Food is awesome. Very friendly and attentive staff! I would definitely recommend making a reservation to get in. Like all good RVA spots, it's packed! Classic brunch options like omelets and chicken and waffles... and then there's unique choices like the big hot mess. The potatoes that they use in the dishes are crisp and salty. And then the Nutella French toast is perfectly fluffy and sweet. Even the drinks are unique but not to over the top. The atmosphere is more upscale but cozy and casual.
