We ventured downtown for our first visit to Heritage and were not disappointed. Parking is always challenging in the city but we managed to find a spot on main st not too far away. The restaurant has a cozy modern vibe with warm lighting. Service was friendly and relaxed but also impeccable. It was a Tuesday so we weren't going to get cocktails but "snuggled up in the alps" sounded too good to miss so we shared it and loved it. Very smooth. At first glance Heritage looks like eclectic American, but with a closer look, there are definitely many Asian influences. For apps we got the fried broccoli, butternut squash soup and soft boiled eggs. The Butternut squash soup was a nice change from the standard butternut soup that's usually on the sweeter side. This one had a coconut curry base that added a nice little kick and some great garnishments with pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, and sourdough toast. Delicious.. The fried broccoli was decent, but honestly, I make a better roasted version, at home. The soft boiled eggs was an interesting appetizer with some tasty ingredients like chili crunch, scallion, and sesame but didn't care for the bluefin tomato sauce, which left an unpleasant fishy taste. For entrées, everyone enjoyed the local rockfish which was done perfectly and had a grain based risotto (farro) along with some delicious brussels sprouts, bacon and butternut squash. The black garlic Garganelli pasta was also very flavorful with rock shrimp, broccolini mushrooms in a Meyer lemon scampi sauce with Parmesan on top. I'm a sucker for Burrata which you can add for a hefty $7 extra but thankfully, my husband refrained and we found it really did not need it. The only entrée, that was a bit of a disappointment was the pork tonkatsu with Brussels, kimchi, fried rice and duck confit you'd think it would be a hit, but it just felt very bland. Needed something bright or acidic to complement the flavors IMO but I am not a professional chef lol The pricing felt a tad high especially with the high service taxes in the city, but we will probably still come back for another bite for a special occasion. The beautiful light snow that started while we were inside felt like a good omen to come back.

You will not be disappointed! Heritage is a must for those seeking joy in the form of food. From drinks to apps to mains, every bit of our meal was so wonderful. I cannot express that enough! The service was exceptional, the volume minimal though the restaurant was fairly full on a Saturday night. A great place to enjoy an evening with friends, family or colleagues! So the service was impeccable. They were awesome and wonderful. There was a slight mix up with one of our dishes and they were quick to remedy it and took it off the check without us saying a word. Everything we had was wonderful from cocktails to wine to appetizers to main course. The place is very cozy inside and despite the posh setting we did not feel out of place in jeans and a button down. I would go again just to try some of the other dishes and cocktails.

Waitstaff was excellent. Service was excellent. Cocktails were very excellent. Appetizers were amazing. The sea bass was cooked perfectly. The sauces, veggies, and risotto were outstanding. The steak was poorly made. A great friend and chef told me, if you want to send a message to the chef, send the food back and do not ask for anything else in return. Pay for the meal and tip your wait staff. The chef will understand. Never return your food and ask for it to be made again. I was far too hungry to do that. The steak was dry, lean, and was not medium rare. This is the first time in at least a decade that I ordered a steak at a restaurant. I usually cook them myself because I've been disappointed too many times. I thought this time $48 would be the price that would land me a decent steak. I gave my wife a bite to watch her expression. She was disappointed and she didn't even order it. Nor was she paying for it. I'm fairly certain the menu said "ribeye", but I either got a dollar store ribeye or a food Lion flat iron. I see their old menu lists the steak as flat iron. But that's not what was on my menu. I'm not mad at this restaurant. I don't think it actually deserves 3 stars. I'm just sending the message to whomever cooked the steak.

My sister and I dined at Heritage for the first time prior to the Samara Joy show at the Altria Theater. This was the perfect location for a pre.show dinner as the restaurant is conveniently located a few blocks up the street from the theater. Upon entering the restaurant, we were made to feel welcome by the hostess. We were escorted to our table & immediately approached by our server. She was courteous, welcoming & very knowledgeable about possible menu options. I ordered the fried green tomatoes as my appetizer & the Duck Breast as my entree. The food was fabulous. Each dish was cooked perfectly & the flavors meshed together well. So far Heritage's rendition of Duck Breast is my favorite in the area. For dessert, my sister & I shared the Pistachio Ice Sandwich. It was very taste. A combination of creamy & crunchy. The ambience of the restaurant was very comforting. It was minimalist in decor but very homey & welcoming. I definitely plan to return to Heritage to try more menu options.

Absolutely wonderful! Every dish was simply spectacular. Perfectly cooked, exquisitely flavored, beautifully presented and I could go on and on. We started first with some yummy cocktails that were not only fun to look at but with some uniquely yummy flavors. I really enjoyed the Aloe Poppet. It was refreshing! Then came the food. The ribeye was perfectly juicy and tender and so was the duck. Apparently their menu changes often but I've heard it's never disappointing. I seriously can't wait for my next trip to Richmond to try their next perfectly curated menu.

Food quality / price (value) rating 9.5. The atmosphere is a contemporary "shot gun" space which is tastefully decorated with high quality furnishings and a gallery style display of rotating local artists / painters works for sale. The menu is constantly changing, but the offerings are consistently high quality ingredients prepared properly and presented beautifully. The owners, Emilia and Joe, are not new to the restaurant business, and have experience operating a number of different venues. Emilia's training with the C.I.A. (Culinary Institute of America) and Joe's experience and command of the kitchen, guarantee an exceptionally pleasurable gastro experience. We started by sharing a snack of Fried Broccoli with an aioli dip. The florets had a unique texture that my mouth experienced for the first time, and leaves me without words to describe it. For an entree, I had the Petite Filet served along side of a wonderful unusual mix of vegetables and mushrooms (see the menu for a complete description). Everything was prepared and presented beautifully. The wife had the Garganelli Carbonara. The dish includes a house made pasta of a shape we've never seen, cooked perfectly al dente. To top off our evening, we each ordered a dessert, which was very unusual for us. I had the house-made Ice Cream Sandwich, which was just as incredible and unique as their dessert menu describes. The wife had the Candied Orange Cannolis (three), also house-made, and filled immediately prior to serving assuring a crisp, not soggy, shell. Both desserts were incredible! I'm told by the staff at Heritage that all menu items are offered for a limited time, so hurry and get here soon if you want to try the Ice Cream Sandwich. Our server, Kassandra, was knowledgeable, pleasant, and attentive, and the prices were reasonable for what we received. The building where the restaurant can be found is understated, so you may have to look twice to find it, but it is well worth the effort.

The candy bar dessert! Oh my word! I HAD TO eat the entire portion. Soooo great!

My last review was--10 years ago and: this restaurant is still and enduringly fabulous. Food, service, decor, location: first rate! Really special. Hostess for res, Mark as waiter, the chef's beautiful and tasty creations! My fav restaurant in Richmond. I travel for work; I better get another client so I can dine here sooner than 10 years from now! Outstanding! Just come here!

We decided to try heritage for the first time this evening and it was spot on at every point! We were welcomed as we came in for a 5 o'clock reservation and sat immediately. Our server was very nice and went over the specials for the evening right away, which I always enjoy. The mood was very laid back, but you could definitely dress up and have a date night, or grab a seat at the bar. They offer a few mocktails that were creative and different from the norm. We started with two appetizers and each had an entree. The food was great and coursed out perfectly. The pork fries on the snack portion of the menu were not what we expected, but we really enjoyed them and would have them again. We will definitely be revisiting heritage when in the Richmond area again.

Their hours are currently shortened and they only do pre-fixed at $75 a pop but if you're looking for a nice night out you should definitely try Heritage! Well known as a Richmond staple, Heritage continues to dish out interesting takes on American/southern food. And service is always wonderful :). From their three course offerings I got: - Tuna Tartare: not sure what those crackers were but every tartare should use them. Pumpernickel-esque and not too dry but with a perfect snap, they paired nicely with the tartare, which had a tangy sweetness to it from the seaweed and green onions. - Soft Shell Crab: huge portion size! I was pleasantly surprised at how large these soft shell crab were. They were fried and seasoned well and sat on top of a creamy, pickley potato salad. - Cheesecake Tart: what a fascinating take on a cheesecake. Typical cheesecake filling but in a buttery tart shell with crunch basil streusel and micro greens on top. Worked surprisingly well

***4.5 star It's been a decade since I've touched base here, and a first time for my wife. We were early for a reservation and were sat right away by a friendly member of the team in a nice window seat. Tonight was a prefix menu selection and everything down the line was a winner, start to finish. Service was pretty regular and attentive, always appreciated. Beer and whiskey list was more than solid, particularly the spirits. We will certainly be back sooner than my last visit!

I'm so glad Heritage is open again! They were closed for awhile during Covid. I went on a Friday night for dinner. They are currently doing a 3 course Pre-fix dinner. They had lots of great options to choose from! I started with the tuna tartar that was bomb.com! For my main I got the local fluke, which was a light airy fish that came with ramps, potatoes and oyster mushrooms. For dessert I got the chocolate hazelnut tart. Everything was delicious!! They also have a great cocktail menu as well. There menu is always changing though, so I know you won't get the same menu all year around.

Fresh pappardelle with meat sauce and burrata on top! The pasta was perfectly cooked and so delicious. One of the best!

Soon after we. Ordered the octopus and mussel appetizers a storm came in and the rain fell pretty hard. Our choices were to run back to the hotel or stay and dine huddled under an umbrella. Being a little wet with beverages and good food seemed the better option so we ordered more food. The octopus was great. I have tried it prepared many ways and here it was both tender and flavorful, really done well. Shrimp cocktail is usually pretty basic, but often the simplest dishes demonstrate the most skill. This is truly one of the best I have ever had. The shrimp were plump and flavorful. Their cooking stopped at just the right time leaving a slight bit of translucent hue, but still cooked through. Very nicely done. The salad with home ranch was dressed nicely and the dressing was light. The scallops were cooked well and perhaps my only criticism is that the corn purée was better in concept than execution. I can't say enough about the staff. We were two people on a Sunday night crazy enough to dine in a downpour. The staff never made us feel like they wanted to punch out, embraced us being outside and were creative in waiting on us with umbrellas to keep the food from getting wet. It would have been understandable for them to limit the trips to check on us, but they persevered and made us feel welcome. If you are in the area, highly recommended stopping by, rain or shine, and sampling their menu. Nicely done.

Although I wanted my burger to be well done and I didn't get it that way, it was still pretty good. The fries though, I think was the best part of it. The fries were perfectly seasoned and crunchy! I also ordered a coke. Just a heads up, they don't do free refills on the sodas, so each cup is $4. My party also ordered salmon l'orange and a romano salad with salmon. My friends really enjoyed their main dishes, but we did ask for extra dressing. The restaurant is decorated in a boho-style vibe, and it was cute. We found the lighting on the side dining area to be a little bit too dim once the sun went down, but I do think it would've been perfect for a date night vibe. Overall, we had an okay experience.

Our server, Nadia, was an enchanting brunette, training another young server, Sierra. She took our drink orders and gave us plenty of time to review the menu, checking in after a few minutes to see if we were ready. We finally decided, my partner ordered the 10" Bianca White (pizza), and I chose the Sailor Sandwich. Unfortunately, the sailor was not in the cards for me, and Nadia suggested the Reuben as they were similar. They brought out breadsticks while we waited, and the food arrived within 10-15 minutes. I was pleased with the atmosphere, the old-fashioned chandeliers, the large mirror, the floral paintings, and the rustic frames, all of which added to the restaurant's stated aesthetic. The pizza was hot and savory, while the Reuben had buttery toast, crispy corned beef, and a light smattering of sauerkraut (TBH, I didn't even notice the sauerkraut). For dessert, we indulged in the upside-down walnut apple pie, served with vanilla ice cream, all made from scratch, and beautifully delicate. Our time at Tarrant's Cafe seemed like a stroll into the past; the only indication of modernity was the ordering kiosk used by the staff. We truly enjoyed our time and had deeply meaningful conversations without enduring the hustle and bustle or the rowdy cacophony of an intense crowd.

Our waiter was super sweet and attentive, and the food came out relatively quickly. For my drink, I ordered a local cider from a Virginia ciderie, as well as the It's A Wrap, which has cheddar, ranch, mixed greens, tomatoes, onions, peppers, and your choice of protein (I got tofu). I also got a side of the Mac and cheese, which I could tell was made in house. Super creamy and flavorful with a hint of spice. My wrap was also insanely good!
