I scheduled the appt, dropped my car off the day before, and got a call 10:30am the morning of my appt saying that the car was done and ready to be picked up. It came in $20 less than what was estimated. At no point did David and his team go fishing for problems (which certainly exist on a 200k mile Volvo). Super fair, honest, great price, and very nice folks. David, his son, and Jenny are incredible people and I highly recommend them.

A gentlemen came over and said "hello Michael, I am Moses. Tell me what is going on with the car." He listened intently. Asked a few questions. "Michael, let me get to work." Another gentlemen came over. "Michael, I am Sol. We are going to take care of you. We will call you in about an hour." I am car stupid. Moses called with the diagnoses and clearly communicated the problem and the estimated cost. After the work was complete the final bill was a little over 9% less than the estimate! When I came to pick up the car a problem was discovered at the last minute. Moses and Sol explained the problem would be hard to discover earlier. My heart sank. More money. Sol said "Michael, we are going to take care of you. This is on us. we didn't catch it. We are going to replace the part at no charge." I would take my car back to Bay's. When I ask him why my car was throwing white smoke from the muffler, he denied it all but in latter months after I finished the engine repair that cost me around $35,000 dollars; I found a video where he was abusing my car making explosion and popping from the engine. Note. I never gave permission for him to test drive my car. I won't recommend this shop for anyone with common sense of how car is taking care of. I used to have a *great* mechanic up on Aurora, a little hungarian guy named Ors Gyeny (I just loved saying his name), but he rather inconsiderately died of a heart attack playing soccer one day, and left me (and a lot of other VW owners) bereft. I went to a shop over by U. Village for a while, attached to a gas station, because a friend worked there. But after a while, I wasn't feeling the love. The work was fine, but the price and the service weren't feeling so friendly. I guess he was more of an acquaintance after all. I tried Wagenschmitt a few times, and while his work and prices were good, he always seemed to act like my ugly little beater was unworthy of his time, and I didn't care for the attitude. So I looked up VW service on the Car Talk website (Click and Clack would never steer me wrong!) and found Louis Foreign Auto Repair. I was desperate, because my 82 VW diesel Rabbit, normally 42+ MPG city, had suddenly started dumping over half of its fuel ration on the ground. My amateur diagnosis, very reluctantly, was the injector pump. I called up Dan (owner) and asked how he felt about working on VW diesel Rabbits. "My favorite car!" he said, telling me (convincingly) that he used to own one. The injector pump needed replacing all right. Expensive part ($500-700) , not really serviceable; you take out the old one and put in another. My budget really couldn't quite handle the hit for the original estimate, but I found a non-local supplier that sold warranted rebuilds for about $400 with exchange. I asked Dan if I could supply the part, and showing remarkable flexibility for a first-time customer like me, he said he would, but couldn't guarantee the part since he was not familiar with the source. Only fair, I thought. I ordered the part and had it shipped to his shop. He fixed it, and took care of some other things that needed attention along the way. The repair bill came in at something like $200 less than I'd budgeted for after scrimping and scraping. The pump is working great, the MPG is better than it was, and when I need work on my old diesel Rabbit, I go see Dan. The shop is right across from the Roosevelt/Ravenna Safeway. A little run-down looking on the outside, small, but clean and well-organized on the inside, and after multiple visits for other minor problems (25 year old car!) I always walk away feeling like I got good work at a good price. I'm feeling the love again, and giving some back here!

Jeff told me that drilling it out could be a nightmare and may take several hours. When I got to the shop later that day to pick up the car Jeff told me the bolt actually went out quite easily and charged me half of the initial estimate. I appreciate the honesty and will certainly be back when I need another repair.

Best Service & Repair will be from now on my go too shop. I gave them a call to go over my car issues. One of them being, I was leaking oil from my valve cover gasket. At the BMW dealership, to replace the valve cover gasket they charge $2,200. Best Service & Repair charged me $624.00. The wonderful Service Adviser Ilona who I spoke with was so patient and extremely helpful with all my questions I had regarding my car. Two other pro's that Best Service & Repair provide are printouts of your car codes. No shop does that. Ilona goes over the codes and explains each one to the customer. Last and not least first time customers get a 10% discount on their bill. I am extremely pleased with this shop.
