Truly lovely experience! An adorable, cozy setting, with a few surprising menu items with a lot of wow factor. An upscale touch to that small town local place. Their appetizer options are something to definitely not miss. My husband and I came to this restaurant. We didn't feel very comfortable we didn't have any reservations and either did other people and they were only a party of 2 like us and were seated before us! Which made us feel more uncomfortable! Way over priced I had a strip and husband had a chicken breast and we shared a spinach dip and 2 sweet teas! $90 dollars completely way overpriced for the dinner we were served only had a few chips with the dip waiter never asked if something was wrong with it! Absolutely the worst spinach dip we've ever eaten wouldn't serve that to a dog! I wouldn't give this place a star at all if I had my choice! Never have a bad meal when I come here. We had steak and lobster and shrimp with the salad bar. Everything was excellent. Only problem was I couldn't order desert because I was too full. The waiter was very attentive as well. Seen a few comments about the decor and Yes it is very seventies, but given that the building is an old Peddler steakhouse building I'm not surprised. Tonight was the first time we tried Hermitage Steak House. We are somewhat new to the area and had a hankering for steak. We have a steak house back home in Mississippi that we love and I must say this was pretty close. I got the 12oz ribeye and it was cooked exactly as I asked and extremely tender with great flavor! They have a salad bar and with Covid they brought out a sheet for you to fill out what you wanted on it and they had designated staff making salads. I really liked that cause I was kind of skeptical when we walked in and I saw a salad bar. Tyler was our waiter and after our meal he told us it was his first shift by himself. He did an outstanding job! We will definitely be back. P.S the key lime pie was awesome! read more

What was different and I found disappointing was the out dating dinning room, no table cloths and no warm bread basket. These changes would really make a difference. It's easy, just don't come here. First off, it's called a steakhouse but they only have 3 cuts of steak. I got the $30 12oz ribeye and it was the stringiest, fattiest cut of steak I've ever had at any price. The seat in the booth we were sat in was ripped, the drinks are watered down, the bathrooms are gross, and they were stingy with the simple things that come with your meal, i.e. butter, sour cream, cocktail sauce. The only thing that would be 3-4 stars is the salad bar just because none of the items that definitely came out of cans seemed to be too old. Bottom line, maybe this place was ok 20-30 years ago but with so many other options in the ever growing Nashville area, there is absolutely no reason to come here. OK, I am breaking this down bit by bit and will come up with my rating. We go a few times a year, this reflects my visit tonight, but I know this place well. Atmosphere- old school, classic, what I picture as a traditional steakhouse. Only downside is it gets a little loud- 4 stars Service- greeted at door, seated, server did his job. Forgot a few things here and there, but quickly made it right- 4 stars Menu- could be considered slightly limited, but I would say concise. Enough variety, Nothing outlandish, just the classics: steak, salmon, grilled chicken, Pork chops and the usual sides.- 4 stars Food/presentation- I am not a huge steak expert but I know when it is cooked well and tastes good and I always enjoy it. The sides are not spectacular but not bad- 3 stars Value- it is not cheap. But entrees come with the SALAD BAR!- that alone 5 stars. NOW for the salad bar! Imagine the best salad bar you've ever been to and add some really unique offerings: smoked oysters, anchovies, house made (I think) dressings and any and all toppings- 5 stars I come up with just about a 4 star. read more

We ordered the steak and biscuits, bbq bacon cheeseburger, and baked potato. The steak and biscuits and baked potato were good. I was not a fan of the bacon bbq sandwich, specifically the bbq sauce. A weird piece of info...they don't serve steak during lunch time. The closest thing you will get is the steak and biscuits (basically mini steak biscuit sandwiches). I have been a fan of Hermitage Steak House for over five years. I will never return. My daughter and I went in this evening and ordered our usual 6 oz filet and potato. The server brought our steaks and we cut into them and they were medium well (very little pink in the center). I have been a cook and a beef producer all my life. I know medium rare. The server agreed that the steaks were overcooked and took them back to the kitchen. A manager came out and asked me to come back to the kitchen and look at the steaks!! I said i know a medium rare steak. She asked again and i refused again. She left the table and another manager came out and asked me to come look and i refused. He left and came back and refused to cook another steak. I advised that i was a long time customer and did not understand why this was such an issue. I stated that i would be happy to leave. I did and will never returned. As i said, i have worked as a cook. I have recooked steaks. Its not a big deal. The management chose to let 12 ounces of beef ruin a great night out and a long time repeat customer. Sad. read more

This time however I was taking my 8 yr old granddaughter and although I had never seen a kids menu I was hesitant. They did have one selection. Chicken fingers with fries and salad bar. She will tell you that you can use their WiFi just to get you in a seat and once you are eating, you will learn that the restaurant has no WiFi. Dishonest much? Sometimes WiFi is necessity for travelers. Also, although I was finely dressed, she also tried to sit me in the front room, which is bright and terribly taudry. With the prices at this place, why would any guest want to sit there? The second room had only a handful of people in it and the back room was empty. I decided to leave before the waitress offered to reseat me. Since the back room had table cloths and was lit to my liking (and I was under the illusion that there was WiFi) I checked with the waitress that the restaurant could accommodate a gluten free diet if I ordered a particular item and she confirmed that it could so I agreed to be reseated and stayed. After having a salad , my new waiter told me at that time that they couldn't accommodate my gluten free diet with the item that I wanted, or any other on the menu but they could make me a fish with just salt and vinegar. This honesty didn't sound very good to me but I have never had salt and vinegar fish and thought I would see what the chef can do. While waiting for my salt and vinegar fish I asked for the WiFi password so that I could arrange my hotel, etc. and this is when I was informed that the restaurant had no WiFi. Seriously, what is with all the lying?? The salt and vinegar fish was terrible. Who wants to pay $40 for fish that tastes like potato chips? Why would a chef even offer such a disgrace? It had been a long time since I had gone to Hermitage Steak House. I had a good previous experience so we wanted to try it again since my husband had never been. I will say this time was very different from previous years. There is a buffet style salad bar that I was surprised to see after Covid. We ordered ribeye entrees and the teriyaki chicken. The steaks were very thin for a ribeye and was missing a nice sear. The meal was $120 for 3 people. I honestly feel like it was extremely overpriced for the food quality offered. I'm not quite sure how...you get Mahi Mahi to taste like steak, but they did. I didn't try the steak because they would'nt have a chance to top the fantastic steaks I have had at Kayne Prime and Cork & Cow. So I decided to get their "catch of the day" which was Mahi Mahi. It tasted like STEAK! I also ordered the Brussel Sprouts which were clearly frozen because they were all the same size. If anyone has ever cut and split a case of Brussels you know they are all different sizes so.... The drinks were good and reasonably priced. The decor is really out dated feels like a 1980's styled cabin. The wait staff was friendly and very helpfull. But the food was a bit of a let down and definitely not worth the price. So I'd give the atmosphere 5 stars, staff 4 stars, salad bar also gets 5, but the rest food was something to write home about - in a bad way. We went for brunch on a Sunday and had some high hopes as we walked in. The salad bar looked amazing as we passed by so we decided that would be a good add-on to brunch. Ordered a couple drinks and they were good, but we were always low on drinks. Yeah, one person in our party has an unlimited Diet Coke tank, but the coffee and water too. The salad was fresh and lots of variety including dressings, fruit, and other toppings. Anyway, the food was a bit cold when it came out, we found mold (yes mold) on the biscuits, they forgot fries in one of the orders, and the steak was a bit over cooked in 2 of the dishes. I would have loved to have a bit more kick to my Tex-mex dish, but then I'm from Texas and used to the spice. So yeah... not the best. Yelp doesn't specify that it is brunch only on Sunday so the menu is limited. They do have a salad bar it's ok but in comparison Ruby Tuesday is much better Salad bar wise. I was actually hoping for a lunch menu as I am not much on breakfast. So I got grilled pork chops and eggs. I don't feel like the food was all that I was expecting better quality for the price. Who is the middle-aged blonde woman here (ahem, Lisa) that made me (and apparently other yelpers) want to run away crying???? Surely not the owner!! She proceeds to roll her eyes and say, "You know we have birthday cakes HERE and we **MUCH PREFER** THAT YOU BUY THEM FROM US!!!" Blonde woman yanks cake away. Was I supposed to know this??? I'm sorry my mother has a favorite local bakery that we try to help her indulge in once per year. I'm sorry that I assume a restaurant cake is something small and not for a party of 6. I'm sorry I'm spending $300+ at your establishment and you have to bring out 6 bread plates for us to dirty up with our foreign non-Hermitage-steak-house-cake. OK, choice of the family to celebrate a couple of birthdays. I'm chillin', I'm in a relaxed mood. I'm ready to spend a laid back time with the family. It usually only takes one in the group to spoil this feeling. We have a reservation. We trickle in and of course they don't want to seat a party until all arrive. I'm good with that. That one person is ill. That one person is impatient. That one person is "hangry". That is a cross between hungry and angry. You know, when you are so hungry that you become angry. Not the restaurants responsibility that you chose to not eat in order to get your money's worth at an expensive steakhouse. The person in charge tells me - a male member of our group - that they are waiting on a table to finish their dessert in order to combine tables. I suggest she tells them someone is breaking into their car to expedite their visit. Advice is not taken. We are finally sat in a "back room" of the restaurant. The atmosphere could be best described as "toasty". There seems to be an issue with the A/C in this area of the restaurant and it is sorta hot. Should the temperature have been cooler, I would consider this the best table in the house. Our party of 12 or so is seated and drink order taken. It is about 8:00, so most of the evenings dinner crowd is filtering out. Lady asks if we would like to move to an emptied area where the temperature is more conducive to pleasant dining, but it is actually 2 separate tables. I'm with a family that feels if the tables don't touch then we aren't eating together...SMH. We stay - temp drops and we have access to the salad bar - let's eat. Once allowed access to graze on the salad bar, things start to smooth out. There is a little inconsistency with the delivery of the drinks. Waitress may have been over committed, who knows?! Like most steak houses, bread is delivered somewhere between drink and salad prep. We ALL received our entrée and were not even offered bread. Steak house - no bread - wait..what?!. Again, party of 12 and when asked, waitress comes out with one single "loaf" of bread. When called on it - "I could only carry one at a time." Seriously. Another is brought, but no other is offered. Hmmm....$28 steak and you hold back on the bread?! Salad bar is good as is the steak. The filet is phenomenal! I didn't order it - my wife and I split a strip. In no way could it even compete with my father-in-law's filet. I had most of his remainder and my wife ate a small remaining portion. It was great! Our strip was good, but nowhere near the texture of the filet. Pork chops were good as was rib eye my daughter ordered. Service was lacking. Our bill for 4 including gratuity was $124. Felt things should have been a little more spot on than they were service and quality wise. This place has a great vibe and dining atmosphere. My husband and I both got the 12 oz Ribeye, which comes with one side and the salad bar. The steak was very filling, but for $30 I was expecting a more tender and flavorful cut. The bathrooms were pretty out of date and kind of grody (not that it *really* matters.)
