We went here today birthday Mother's Day lunch. Have not been here in over a year just because it is over an hour away. I have been craving their Cajun shrimp rolls and I was a little bummed out the shrimp were not as big as they used to be and it just wasn't as good as I remember oh well. Hubby got the seafood platter and was very good except for the scallops they were so small. My son got the whole belly clams and they were really good. Cute little outdoor place, kinda tricky to find. I'm sure it's easier to find from a boat but the signage is really bad from the road. If I didn't know it was here because of Yelp I definitely wouldn't have known it was here. Slow service, especially when we first sat down - I'm sure they're understaffed like literally everywhere else so I can easily forgive that. We had a couple of Diet Cokes, the refills were prompt for the most part. I got the lobster roll with butter, my mom got the fish tacos. Both were great! The lobster tasted super fresh and there was plenty of it, so I can't complain. The fries were decent, not excellent. Definitely could've used more seasoning. This is a mostly open air bar on the water with a permanent food truck providing eats. They have a great alcohol selection, which I appreciated. They have a pretty extensive bar food menu with daily specials. We had the shrimp on special and it was quite good. The fried green beans (special) and fish spread were OK. Much of the menu is fried. The venue was not too busy when we were there, but this may have been because it was winter. Bathrooms were having some issues, but there was a port-o-toilet available. The turn off from the main road is somewhat hard to find if you are a first timer. From a bar perspective, I'd gave the place 4 stars, but from a grille perspective I give it 3. Note that even though the area was plastic covered to keep the heat in, smoking is still allowed. read more

We went for lunch and ate way too much. We ordered seared ahi tuna, blackened gator tail, and mild buffalo shrimp for appetizers. We got 2 cups of lobster bisque soup, a lobster roll with butter, lobster roll with mayo, a blackened grouper sandwich, and the whole belly class for our lunches. The appetizers were AhMazing! The entrees were good, too. The lobster bisque was good but rich and it was soooo hot, so we decided to take most of it home. Service was great, and it is tucked in the back corner of a marina. Great food and great service! My husband had the burger. It was huge, perfectly done and very soft roll. I had the fish tacos which were recommended by a woman sitting next to us at the bar. The blackened fish tacos came with 2 tacos and the pieces of fish were good size whole pieces-not chopped up pieces. The Chipotle Mayo was good and the blackened fish wasn't overly blackened-it was perfect! I felt like I was on vacation with the cool breeze and outdoor setting! Stopped in for some beer and appetizers. All the food we tried was great. Lobster bisque, if on the menu, is served in a small Styrofoam cup. Great flavor and plenty of chunks of lobster. Fried clam strips, crispy and fried to golden perfection, go perfect with a cold beer. Loved the smoked amberjack fish dip - generous portion is served with a basket of saltines. Shaded patio with picnic table, near water's edge, is a great place to hang out in nice weather. The bar, surrounded by tall chairs, looked pretty popular. Because of good reviews I tried Hernando Beach Tropical Grille. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed. My husband ordered the fishermen seafood platter with whole belly clams, shrimp, scallops and fish. The clams were strong and not to our liking, the shrimp and scallops were OK per my husband. The fish was over breaded and over cooked to the point you couldn't break it with a fork and you didn't get a knife. Just plastic forks on the table in a bin. The fries were cold, the coleslaw good but skimpy. I ordered the lobster roll on a plain roll not buttered or grilled. It came buttered and grilled. They did change the roll. The lobster was ok but skimpy. The place itself is open air on the water and pleasant enough. It has almost exclusively wood picnic tables which are not very comfortable. The servers were good. I had gone to their website to check out the menu and the prices were significantly higher at the restaurant. It seems to me a restaurant has a responsibility to maintain their website with a fairly accurate menu and prices. We didn't think the prices were excessive if the food had been better, it just felt like it was kind of deceptive having prices $3-4 more for everything on the menu. It's a small place with several tables on the deck, and more under the tiki hut. It's at the marina with a nice view of the canal. We only stopped in for a quick appetizer, and it was well worth it. We have been here twice now and both times the food has been awesome! The first time we each got one of the lobster rolls. The rolls were loaded with so much lobster is was literally falling out of the roll as we ate them! The second time we got the clam chowder and a seafood platter. The chowder was delicious! It was one of the best I have had! This place is a little odd as it is all outdoors and the kitchen is a food truck next to it. But don't let that deter you as this is a true hidden gem.
