The food is incredible! The service is always great! We are from New England and travel to the area often as we own a house in Spring Hill. We spent a lot of time rehabbing it. After many a day of working we would drive over here to have a cold beer and relax. The atmosphere is so relaxing. Incredibly good prices on extra fresh food! It have been one of our best find for places to eat. Our only complaint is the smoking. Seems to be a place that smokers enjoy too. Being outside the cigarette often blow towards us when eating. You can't go wrong at tropical Grille. A very laid back place for a bite. The lobster roll is terrific for the price. Try everything seafood and if your a landlubber the burgers are pretty terrific too. My only complaint would be the subpar fries. mine were not the best. The onion rings were better and you have a choice. Go early as they close early and try the brunch chicken sandwich on Sunday, it's to die for! read more

We ate at the Grille on our first night in the area and when we really wanted seafood. The tough thing about this area is that most of the restaurants are open air, which might not bother some people but it is not something we enjoy, but we decided to try it out anyway. The restaurant is a bit hard to find, it's between a boat docking area/marina and it took us a minute to find it, but we finally did! We were able to get seated pretty fast, realizing that they closed at 7 and we got there at 6:15, but we were assured that as long as our food order came in before 7, we'd be served and fed! It took a little while for us to be greeted but when we did we were ready to order food and drinks. Our food came out pretty fast and it was really good! The boom boom shrimp reminded me of the Bonefish Grille's bang bang shrimp appetizer, which I love and the price was much lower than the Bonefish shrimp's price. Overall we really enjoyed the meal, and the outdoor eating wasn't terrible. We switched tables and seats a few times due to the sunset occurring while we were there. The area was quite breezy, actually. You do have to put up with pesky birds a little bit which, again, comes with the outdoor eating. Our waitress only had two tables, us and one other table, but she did disappear from time to time so we were waiting for considerable amounts of time. 0 stars: Piss poor service, never even had a chance to order my diner because the waitress was extremely absent. The servers were extremely rude, refused to answer questions about the menu because they were not the assigned waitress. The waitress kicked us off a table because a wait was in effect, which is understandable, but then immediately after a couple just walked up and took a table and she didn't make them get up. The gator is frozen and chews like rubber. This was the crappiest experience I have ever had in my entire life. I recommend avoiding this place at all costs. read more

I have been enjoying the great seafood here since they opened. However today while I was trying to enjoy my lunch a woman at the table behind us fired up a butt and totally ruined my lunch. This place is always packed why do they have to allow smoking! She was the only one! Today, April 3, 2021... We woke up to 43° this morning yet the day is absolutely gorgeous! We have been wanting to try this place after the rave reviews on the conch fritters LOL because you can't find them hardly anywhere. We both ordered that as an appetizer and they are not kidding! They were the best conch fritters we ever had and we have been to the Caribbean several times. The conch was so tender and I can't wait to go back to get some more. The service was amazing I think we had Nikki that was the name on the cash register receipt anyway! Everybody was so nice, so welcoming and the ambience was to die for!!! My husband had a grouper sandwich and I got the platter but he ate all of our most of my clams. All the food was so good we will definitely be back!!!!! read more

An awesome find by the water! Best lobster roll and fish tacos we've had. Would never know this gem exists unless you're a local or a yelper. It's barely visible from the road with a small sign that's dominated by a large dry dock. The tiny restaurant/tiki bar was more than half full at 4 pm on a Monday with familiar diners and bar patrons, so it appears to be a local favorite. There was only one woman serving all six tables and the bar flies. The make shift kitchen appeared to be a food truck just adjacent to the restaurant and the two guys running it were also doing a great job whipping up the baskets of food. The food was fantastic! The lobster roll was loaded with fresh tender lobster and not dry at all. The fish tacos were a nice portion of fish, seared or grilled perfectly on a huge scoop of tangy sauce. They even grilled my kid's hot dog and bun. The lobster bisque was good and full of meat. It needed a little more flavor in my opinion, so I dropped some hot sauce in there and it took it from good to perfect. So glad we found this spot. Have had lobster rolls and fish tacos numerous times and this place serves up the best. Just hope they recycle. Everything is served in or on disposables. read more

After reading the reviews and the restaurant's "story" about the owner from Gloucester, MA, I decided to try it out at a friend's urging. There is one word I can used to describe the food ... disgusting. I could hardly find an item on the menu, that wasn't deep fried, which might explain the restaurant's overuse of their frying oil. Having been in and around the restaurant business for many years, I can assure you, the frying oil they used today, hasn't been filtered or changed in months. Everything that came out of the fryolator, was dark brown, with burned edges. You ask me how I can say "everything"? We had Fried Conch Fritters, French Fries, Fried Seafood and Onion Rings. Neither of us even bothered to try the Onion Rings, they looked so bad. They were commercial, frozen rings and looked like they were fried in motor oil. The fried clams, haddock and shrimp, was awful. The Conch Fritters? Even worse. I will admit that the fries weren't bad, other than being overly greasy. I also had a Lobster Roll. Where did these people learn to make a Lobster Roll? Obviously not in New England. Some thawed out, previously frozen lobster meat, mixed with 1/2 a tablespoon of commercial mayonnaise and tossed on a greasy hot dog roll. No celery, no seasoning ... blahhhhhh. Our service from Nicky, was exemplary. I don't know competence sneaked into this establishment, but she did a nice job. Did I mention the food was disgusting? Really, there are 20 places in Hernando Beach where you can get seafood, please try a different one. You'll thank me later! Oh wait, did I forget to mention that this really isn't even a "restaurant"? It's a "trailer", that looks more like a small catering truck you'd see at a carnival and it's semi-attached to an outside, deck seating area. read more

The great news - we both agreed these were the best fried whole belly clams we've ever had (although hubs thinks they may be a close tie with some served by Todd English at Boston's Faneuil Hall). The bad news - it's a four hour plane trip and one hour drive from CT. After many enjoyable hours of reading Yelp Hernando County/local restaurant reviews I've decided we may be eating here every day of our vacation. Allow for updates. It's a small place with a pleasant view of waterfront homes across the inlet. The cooking is done out of a converted trailer which (according to my step-daughter and fellow Elite) is also able to expedite a super grouper sandwich. Atmosphere A beach style, Tiki bar/grill off the Hernando Beach area on Shoal Line. Appears very family friendly, relaxing with music playing and a television going. The view is great, would likely be better catching an evening sunset. Parking is a bit limited, but is also waterside. Fun people to strike a conversation with at the bar. Tables are available for seating on-site and at the bar, but you can also order takeout if preferred. Customer Service Order was placed without a hitch, the bartender took the order and there were no complications to speak. No noticeable arguments throughout the packed dining area. Seems like a very chill and relaxing place to enjoy a meal and/or a cold beer. At the time of review, accepted cash or card on payment. Quality of Food The food reviewed would be the Grouper Sandwich (Fried) and Chicken Tenders. Both items seemed to have a similar unique batter, the food did not taste store bought or that shortcuts were taken. I was hoping for a little more heat on the Grouper Sandwich from the Chipotle, but the sandwich itself was great. They offer the Grouper Sandwich Blackened as well, so I will likely opt for that next time and there will be a next time! Both entrees came with sides of Coleslaw and Fries. The Coleslaw was very good, it was a bit thicker / larger cuts than most fine cut coleslaws I have had which I actually liked. The fries were steak style and the portion of fries you receive is neither too few or too many, seemed like just the right amount. Takeaway A very relaxing location with great food and cold beer to enjoy a beautiful Florida Sunset at. Great deals to be had, there are BOGO Lobster Rolls at times and reasonable prices across the board compared to many chain restaurants. I will return to support this local business in the future. My husband and I go to Tropical Grill often. The food comes from a food truck and we have never been disappointed with what we order. First class fresh fish (love the ahi), sandwiches so there is something for everyone. The soup is homemade clam chowder or lobster bisque. Sitting by the water is a plus. Beer and wine is available. The staff is amazing and work so hard to make sure their guests have everything needed. Make this your next stop for lunch or dinner. They do have live music on weekends. read more
