Wow what an amazing little bike shop.. I met the owner and he promised to get my bike tuned up and the broken derailed replaced in few days.. I haven't rode my bike for 2 years and it's been just sitting there..im an avid bike rider, sometimes I bike in Los Angeles for 3-4 hours.. I absolutely love it.. The most amazing Cardio..you just have to be careful of traffic and specially now the way they driving I just stick to biking in Hawthorne.. BEWARE: This business sells dangerously defective products and refuses to stand behind them. I purchased a bike from this establishment that literally BROKE IN HALF during a simple 10-mile ride. I was stranded and forced to walk home carrying the broken frame myself. When I contacted the owner and provided proof of the damage, he initially refused to issue a refund and only agreed to have the manufacturer send a replacement after repeated complaints. Unbelievably, the replacement bike ALSO broke in half just a few months later. At that point, instead of taking responsibility for selling two catastrophic failures, the owner told me he had already "given me a free bike" and refused to refund me. Selling one unsafe bike is unacceptable, selling two and then blaming the customer is outrageous. This business clearly does not care about customer safety, product quality, or basic accountability. A bike frame snapping in half is not a minor issue, it is a serious safety hazard that could have caused a major injury or worse. I would strongly advise anyone considering purchasing from this establishment to take their money elsewhere unless they enjoy wasting money on dangerous products and being ignored when something goes wrong. read more

Bought a bike here a couple months ago and so far it rides great. The man that runs the store is very nice and all the bikes he has is either built by himself or repaired with all the best of quality parts. I got a flat tire and he helped fix it and it runs smoothly again. All of the parts that you need doesn't cost a lot. Hero Boy Bike is a small, independently owned neighborhood bike shop. I've come here a few times to pick up a bike that was delivered from out of state and assembled by Hero Boy Bike, and later to get some adjustments on the bike by their mechanic. The service is pretty quick and the owner is really friendly. The prices are fair and it seems they do a lot of business with the local kids from the neighboring schools. For the size of the place, the selection is pretty good. Honestly, the owner is really nice and even if you're not ready to buy, just come in and say hi, he's very knowledgeable about bikes. Small shops like this are getting herder and harder to find and we need to keep them alive. They have about 6 free parking spots right in front of the shop and there's a small parking lot just steps away. read more

I've been riding my bike to pretty much everywhere I need to go for the last year or so, and have used three different bicycle shops in Hawthorne - Phil's Bike Shop, One Stop Cycle, and Hero Boy. Phil's is overpriced, charging double what both Hero Boy and One Stop charges for pretty much all services. Rude customer service and takes quite a long time on basic maintenance (at least in MY personal experience). One Stop Cycles is a good honest business but tends to be closed randomly here and there. Hero Boy is a great shop, and the owner, Ali, is a great guy. He provides honest prices for his services, and sometimes I've received my parts and labor at pure part cost basically. Ali is great to speak with and even understands some small Spanish tidbits to help a non-English speaker get their work done. Overall, if you are looking to get some parts or some work done on your bicycle, I'd recommend either One Stop or Hero Boy, but I would much more heavily recommend Hero Boy for all your bicycle needs. Don't come here . I came to buy a used bike I explained to to him my needs . Basically wanted a used bucket but that works good ( brakes , gears etc) each bike was falling apart he even tried sneak hiding the price tag on one telling me it's 350 when it's 290 even then paying that for a used bike that doesn't even work properly is a rip off . He got mad wasn't trying to give me a refund . I basically told him ok keep my money and keep the bike as I walked out I guess he had a change of heart for what ever reason . I went across the street to SBM BIKE SHOP it's actually owned by HIS family old repair man Simon . I found a like new bike with all my needs for 190 also added a custom handlebar system and bike rack total came out to 236 SIMON is the best go to him he also charges basically half off of what hero boy does . I was in dire need of a tune up on my bike and decided to support this local business in my neighborhood. I should've went with my first gut and took the bike elsewhere upon my arrival to the shop, the customer service was TERRIBLE, not accommodating or friendly at all. He provided me a guesstimate on when my bike would be ready, which was 2 weeks from the date I dropped it off. Fast forward two weeks later and the bike still wasn't ready, no communication on it being a delay or anything. Lastly, I gave him one more day to work on the bike. I found this shop which is not close to my place but decide it to give it a try because the good reviews, so i took my daughter's bicycle here for a simple repair to fix the bike's chain which become loose every 5 minutes of riding it also i bought a pair of training wheels for the same bike. Repair was done but after one block of riding the bike with brand new training wheels one of them came out, i got to drive all the way back to this shop and they insisted their training wheels are top quality, after they fixed it i insisted for them to put a pin at the end of the trainig wheel so there is no way the wheel come out again and they did. After they repaired it the wheels were in place working as they suppose to BUT this time the whole support for the training wheel bent over. EXTREMELY CHEAP QUALITY ... i wont go back nor recommend this place to no one who is looking for a good result !!!! read more

Great service! I took my boys (ages 6 and 7 years-old) bikes in to get fixed. Both bikes had one flat tire each and one needed to get tricycle wheels on. I dropped the bikes off 4pm and was able to pick up (by choice) 4pm the next day. The owner was so kind and gave my boys stickers when we went to pick up the bikes. Went there to get a tune up for my specialized rock chopper. The gentleman in the shop did an assessment on it in about 5 minute, gave me a quote and it was ready in about two days. You can definitely tell he's not trying to oversell you service as he quoted me a full tune up costing $80 over the phone but after the assessment came out to $60. Also bought a nice strong U lock for $40 to keep my baby safe. Needless to say I've had the smoothest fastest ride on my bike since seeing Hero Boy, will definitely be back when my ride needs a tune up read more

It was a bad idea to support this local business. I wanted to have my flat tire fixed on my bicycle's front wheel. Went to the store and the guy said they are busy and it will take an hour to have it done. I came back after an hour, picked up my bike and went home. The tire was flat the next morning and literally did not even ride it after getting it from the store. When I closely inspected, it didn't even look like the tube inside was changed and only the air was filled. I went back to the store to ask if they can check again. The guy flat out got defensive and started saying that if you leave even for a second after you have a new tube, they are not responsible anymore. I was just trying to ask him to check and see if there was an error and somehow an old tube was installed accidentally. Explained that I don't even need a new tube and I am willing to pay if in fact it was changed, and the guy started raising his voice saying that he saw many people playing these tricks and just kept going on. At this point it was not worth my time and I left the store. Very bad customer experience and was very disappointing. Literally went in to this store to support local business and felt like I got scammed. It is all about respecting a customer and at least trying to listen if not own your mistake. Please pay close attention to the work if you end up going to this store. read more

Wasn't in the best shape. Didn't require major repairs or work but definitely could use some TLC. The gentleman was polite and gave me a rundown of his thoughts. Asked me what I thought. We went looking for a place nearby to have an old bike tuned up, they is over 15 years old but never had been ridden by anyone, over the years it sat in the Garage rusting away and collecting dust.
