The food was balanced and delicious. The ambiance (we sat outside on a clear January day) was pleasant. The service was standard, not in a bad way, just nothing particularly unique or memorable. I will certainly be coming back. We ordered the Marinetti sandwich, the Mount Etna salad, and a kid's pasta with butter, salt, and parm. The bread on the sandwich was fantastic, and the flavors were great. The salad was a nice balance of textures between the cauliflower, the farro, and the squash/carrots. Perfectly dressed. And it comes with four small pieces of lightly toasted/buttered/salted bread. The kid's pasta was a hit with our five-year-old. I ate the leftovers and was quite impressed with the kid's pasta! Nice bounce to the noodles and the butter/salt/parm was just right. It is slightly on the pricey side, but just by 10%-15%, not a big deal in my opinion. It sounds like a lunch spot and I'm sure it is but dinner w my group of 6 had me feeling like a had my own personal Italian chef making an intimate dinner for my group. Today was my first experience at Heroic Italian. I had lunch with a guest. My shrimp Caesar salad was distinctive with a drizzle of a tomato sauce on the shrimp. It was delicious and just the right portion size for me. We were served by the owner who was genial and attentive. It was a very warm day so we dined on the deck which was delicately shaded. Absolutely delicious! Came with my husband and split a Genoa sandwich, gladiator salad, and a blood orange Italian soda. The weather was beautiful and we sat in the cute outdoor area. One of the best sandwiches I've ever eaten, that bread is amazing so so good. My husband is not a salad guy but he really enjoyed the Gladiator salad - probably all the meat LOL. Five stars for great food (red pizza and a variety of pastas and appetizers) and 1star for horrible service. We were a party of seven for lunch on a quiet Sunday. Beside taking our order, our waitress never checked on us, smiled, or let us feel welcome in any way. The guy who brought us food was friendly enough but appeared to have limited English; he did bring us water from time to time - thus the one star for service. We waited, entirely ignored by the waiting staff, for a long time for our check. In the end, I had to call out to get their attention. Of course, because of our large party, we were charged $30 for 20% service charge. That is, we paid $30 for the privilege of having water delivered to our table. Although the food was great, I don't think that we would come back, which is a shame as the ambience and food are great. But why eating out and paying 20% for non-existent service when there are many other options with much better service around town? read more

The taste was superb and savory, and the variety of cheese made the experience more tantalizing. It was a wonderful night for our pallets. I've never steped foot in this place but Ive ordered from uber eats several times now. All but one time was great. The omg and the quadronno sandwiches are delicious. I think i prefer the quadronno but its not as large as the omg so i usually order the omg. Either way i order it with double meat because the one time i didnt the sandwich felt a bit light. If you like spicy always add the calabrian chili spread. The caesar salad is good but needs more anchovies. There was only one in my most recent salad where as there was 2 or 3 in a prior order. I get this without chicken since i add extra meat to my sandwich. I also enjoy their tiramisu which is on the smaller size. Try their tomarchio drink. I wish i could find this at my supermarket. All in all delicious but a little expensive. Solid spot needing a bit more consistency from order to order. read more

This place is an absolute gem hidden in downtown Berkeley. We came here on a Sunday afternoon, and enjoyed the lovely sunshine on their dog friendly patio. They have heat lamps and a fire pit, too. You order and pay via the QR code so it's mostly contactless. The food was so delicious! The antipasto board had a variety of meats with cheese and crispy crostinis to dip in the burrata. The OMG sandwich was incredible, we got it spicy and it was *chef's kiss*! We were so ecstatic to hear that Heroic Italian opened a new location in Berkeley, we immediately changed dinner plans to visit on their grand opening today. They have a huge outdoor space and we were suprised to see new items on the menu. Although we stuck to our original choice... the OMG sandwich and Antipasto (consistently amazing), we definitely plan on coming back for the Pasta in a few weeks. They also have a really nice wine selection. I highly recommend Heroic. This will be our spot to visit every time we head towards Berkeley. What a gem! I've been to the Santa Monica location and I have to say this location is the best!! If it's your first time I recommend getting the OMG sandwich. It's everything you'd ever want in an sandwich. The bread has a Crunchy crust, yet a light and fluffy chew to it. Meats are all tasty and the produce is Fresh. The beer is cold and the ambience is spot on. Perfect for lunch or an early dinner. Plenty of street parking and easy to get to. Got to spend some time with the owner and talk a bit. Fun fact, he also owns the SF location and his brother owns the SoCal locations. This place is pretty new still and the menu is still growing! Currently has sandwiches, pastas and salads on the menu but I was told pizza will be apart of the menu very soon! Excited to try it all out! You order at the counter and they give you a number stand and they'll find you. Self service water but they'll bus your tables once you leave. Overall 5/5 experience.
