Not sure how to write a ZERO rating for the hertz rental car company, but they just earned one... We are vacationing in Anaheim & reserved a car for a noon pickup. We arrived a few minutes early only to find that they had NO. Cars available & the clerk at the desk was texting and told us we had to wait until he was done.... 4 minutes later he gets our name and reservation #, tells us sorry he won't have a car available until someone turns one in. He even went so far as to open his drawer that supposedly holds the rental keys to prove it was empty, then slammed it shut saying "see, no keys, no cars". We called hertz customer service and they told us to take an Uber or cab to john Wayne intl. and pick up a car--AT OUR EXPENSE--!!! They told my wife " sorry, there's nothing we can do". Four other customers came up during our wait and went through the exact same experience. Unacceptable on any and all levels. Would not recommend. We picked our car up at a different hertz and returned it here. There are absolutely no signs where the drop off is (It's inside a parking structure on the 4th floor). But maps will just lead you to the convention center. The desk to return your keys you also are on your own to find. Good luck.... read more

I've rented over 100 cars over the last 10 years, and have never had a problem with a return. But all good things must come to an end I guess... After I returned the car and settled my bill, I received an updated bill with a $100 charge for a "cleaning fee". I had them send me pictures of what needed cleaning, and they sent pictures of the drivers and rear floormats showing what could have been taken care of with 3 minutes and a dustbuster. My belief is that they are looking for whatever they can find to add charges after the fact. I'll cross this location off my list - there's plenty other car rental sites in this area! read more

Misleading information given by sales staff. Manager is rude. Customer service is non-existent. Very dissatisfying experience. THEY WON'T TELL YOU, but each of their rental days is measured by exactly 24 hours, so if you get the vehicle for one day at 1pm, you have to return it by 1pm the next day or you'll be charged for another day. WORST USA EXPERIENCE - Use any other company but this one!!!!!!! Select or Enterprise are far better options. We booked a convertible here, months before we arrived in the US as a surprise for my nephews first visit to California. They had our Australian mobile number and it was all fully paid. The day I went to get this car I had to stand around and wait for the "service" assistant to take his time to walk over to me then he told me "we don't have your requested car available so we have a large car for you instead". I completely blew my top and the guy next to me at the time said he also had troubles including the car having zero fuel when he collected it. I demanded to speak to the manager who said they knew 4 days prior that they would not have the car. That just got me angrier and then they told me they tried to call our number but it didn't work - hmmm - everyone else has been able to reach us. They didn't even have the courtesy to get be transport back to my hotel. Worst car rental agency I have ever dealt with ever. I phoned Select as I was walking to my hotel and they not only made a Mustang convertible available for me at a much better rate but picked me up from my hotel. read more

I have never used hertz car rental service before And after my experience with them I will never use them again. First let me start with I made an appointment at 12 o'clock to pick up my car I did not leave Hertz until 1258 making me late for work making my ride late getting back to work. I arrived at the front desk to pick up my car at 12:07 yes I was late by seven minutes as I was told repeatedly but my car was not there to be picked up it will take another 30 minutes for the car to arrive at Hertz. I was greeted by a man who said his name was Mario ( he later says his name is Mark) who told me that he was by himself and I am late then he takes a phone call completely ignoring me. I was then told my optional insurance is with a third party and any accidents needed to be addressed with them. I was not made aware of this until then. The clock is ticking so I don't argue moving right along. I presented Mario/Mark with my cdl and credit/debit card, oh wait they charge you to use debit. No mention of this, Mario points to a posted policy regarding debit use. He runs my card w/200 deposit , rental charge , and debit fee. My card was declined My ride helped out with finances she presented her debit card only to be shown debit policy with an aggressive tapping on posted policy. At this time comes the name change to Mark. We are told the car is now here. All paperwork must be done over, time is running short we are very upset no longer have manners or patience for a car that was supposed to be ready at 12 we are told to calm down. And if we were here on time we would not be having this issue. At 12:45 a mgr shows up and tells us to clam down again. Paperwork must be changed to have another driver and myself on reservation. At this point I have 6 min to make it work. I am given the keys and told the car is on 4th floor. What car? I have no clue what color or what kind of car. The mgr Fezal pointed to the garage with general directions, he didn't do a walk around the car check miles or any sort of check in at all. I wish that was then of issue I tried to complain about treatment to Hertz 1 1/2 on the phone ending with a disconnect no resolution. I was just made aware that Hertz put a hold on the credit card for $746- not the $273- we agreed to. Use anybody else! You get what you pay for. They were the cheapest. Had a terrible experience renting a car here. I booked the car through expedia to go see Legoland with family - arrived there with my wife and two kids.at 9am, my rental time. The lady at the counter didn't have information about my reservation and asked to wait for 5 mins. A couple of excuses later, it was 2 hours before we finally had the keys!! She had problems with internet connectivity, she said - but, there was no regard for my time and my family's. Her attitude was "I told my manager and asked for his help and I'm just going to wait". I had to urge her to call and have it resolved. More over, she was non-apologetic - which means that, she hasn't learnt anything and will continue her attitude. Just before she resolved it, she offered an alternative solution to walk over 2 blocks to another Hertz office to get my rental car. She should have offered this TWO HOURS earlier! My advice: Avoid this place. A day later, I booked through National and had quite the opposite experience - go there, it is on W Katella and renting there was a breeze even though I reserved the car just 1 hr earlier. read more

I am beyond disappointed with this location as well as its management team. The empathy that is shown for customers is nonexistent and the staff is so poorly trained it makes it difficult to seek any solution. I purchased a weeklong rental and by mistake left my legal travel documents in the glovebox inside the vehicle registration and paperwork. Every vehicle rental I place a dash cam inside the vehicle that records the inside and outside of the vehicle in case of any incidents. I reviewed it and was 100% sure the documents were never removed. I called the location and before it could even be inspected, they said the vehicle was already rented out and located somewhere in Arizona. I spoke to a supervisor/manager that insisted this vehicle would be placed on hold as soon as it was dropped off and would get back to me by the next business day. The next business day came and sadly I heard no word, I reached out and luckily got connected with him again and he said, "Oh they have not talked to us yet let me give you a call back" and 4 hours later no call was received, and the business was closed for the day. I would understand if this was a keychain or personal item, but these are my travel documents for me, and my wife and I already had to push our flight back hoping this would be located in time. If you want to be cared about as a customer do not go here. Learn from my mistake, especially if you are traveling here for business or vacation. read more

Reserved a car online for a 5 PM pick up. Turns out the Hertz is a kiosk sort of desk inside the Marriott, very hard to find. I arrived 40 mins early but was misdirected by the hotel staff who sent me to another hotel parking structure across the way. Wasted 15 mins trying to find it before going back to the Marriott and speaking to another employee who directed me to the right area in the hotel. Finally get to the counter and met Daliah (long curly dark hair girl), one of the rudest customer service person. She acted annoyed that I asked questions, rolled her eyes, and tried to rush me out so she can leave on time to go home. She was more focused on gathering her items, her purse, lunch, papers, etc so she can rush home before even finishing my reservation check out. There was a price discrepency and I asked to talk to the manager since she was being rude. She hands me the rental car keys and said "you have a car, you can drive" (insert sarcastic tone here) to the other location to speak to the manager and figure out the pricing. Sorry you had to work til 5:02 PM at your strenous car rental kiosk. Hope you didn't break a nail handing me the rental keys. If you don't want to stay past 5 pm, maybe you should'nt allow customers make reservations at that time. I called a week later to extend the rental for 1 day and no one answered the phone for several hours. I finally called a different location (on Katella) and received great customer service from another agent who extended my rental and helped me with the return, even though there was a $10 charge for changing the reservation. read more

Went there right on time but she said they didnt have a car called up someone and told me to come back in 40 mins. They have the reservation list with them so if they dont have a car why no just get them in advance? I returned back in 10 at which point she told me to go at some other place. And then she says 'You know we are overbooked and we will somehow accomodate even though its not our fault'. Like are you serious you dont have a car for me for which I already paid and its not your fault? Everyone should see the way she talks, with those rolling eyes and hand movements. The Hertz employee showed up 15 minutes after opening time, didn't bother apologizing to any one of the 7 people in line waiting for her and then had an attitude with clientele. I was surprised at the lack of professionalism and courtesy. When I got into my Hyundai accent, the car had obviously not been washed as there are footprints all over the interior front windshield, and dirt all over the exterior of the car. Hertz personnel went out of their way to help us make our airplane. It took two hours longer for us to reach the John Wayne Airport due to backed up traffic through LA. Arriving at Hertz return only 35 minutes before our flight, friendly personnel offered to drive us to the terminal. A quick car check in and ride to the terminal, allowed us to make our flight. Besides having great reservation systems, friendly agents and great cars, Hertz goes even further for their customers. I will continue to use them for all my travel! read more

The WORST experience ever! Customer service is horrible!! Picking up the vehicle was such a hassle you had to walk to another building and look for the vehicle yourself. Dropping off the car was even worse. The girl working there never answered the phone I tried calling for 2 hrs and not once did she answer. So I figured they're super busy. When I get to the reception area to drop off the keys. The girl was alone looking like she was busy but really not doing a single thing but staring at papers. Once I mentioned I was dropping off the car she said she had to check it before we finish. When she came back she (with a very rude attitude) said I'm not going to close it out just yet bc I need my managers approval bc it smells like someone smoked in the car. And she added on since it "smelled" like smoke I could get up to a $300.00 fine, as if she was looking down on me. Not once did I smoke in or near the vehicle. They ended up charging me a $50 fee for going by what the cashier said "smelled like someone smoked". Worst experience ever. Never renting from this horrific company ever again! My first time renting a car was made super easy and comfortable by Mario at Hertz. I had previously made a reservation with Enterprise which was going to cost me close to $300 and when I arrived they weren't able to help me since I didn't have a major credit card. I was in panic mode. I live in Northern California and needed to get my kids and I back home safely without spending a fortune on airfare. As soon as I realized I was going to get no where with Enterprise, I turned to Hertz. Not only was Mario pleasant, polite and helpful, the kids and I were able to get home safely for half the price I was given by Enterprise. I will always be a HERTZ rental person going forward.
