I had a great experience here! I had to get a rental because I was involved in a car accident and had to pay out of pocket for my rental. It was very affordable, way better than ubering everywhere. I originally came here because I had a really bad experience at enterprise down the street & hertz was the next closest to me. Not only was their customer service better but so were their weekly rates. I had reserved the rental for only a week but had to request an additional week. I just had to call and they extended it for the same weekly rate which was great! FASIL (I hope I got his name right) was so helpful to me, he's worked there for a long time and had no issues getting my rental. He is friendly and very helpful! Maybe it was luck, but I had a great experience here! My car was stolen so I needed a loaner and I got a solid deal for 2 weeks. Here is where Hertz earned this 5th star-- their listed hours were incorrect on their website- they called me to warn me as I would've shown up after business hours. Customer service was solid for me- I had to extend my time for another 2 weeks and was able to do it seamlessly. I would give this place a zero if I could. We rented a car end of Aug, when we arrived our car was not ready we had to wait 20 mins or more. The employee just asked us to leave the credit card in the machine until everything was done, never asking about insurance gas or anything. We prepaid for the car and should have only been charged for taxes and airport fees. I look at my credit card and we were charged an extra $100, for gas and insurance we did not ask for. This review is for the location on West Katella in Anaheim. I've been a Hertz customer for many years and I always used them on my business trips. I rented a cargo van with a pickup time of 12:00noon. The stated hours on the website and on my email confirmation were 8:00am - 4:00pm. I arrived at 12:30pm and there were two people in the office but the door was locked. All they did is yell we're closed. They wouldn't allow me to pick up the van and basically wouldn't even look at me or talk to me. All they did was scuttle to the back and got in their cars and left. I have attached my confirmation email and the location hours from their site. Since this was a prepaid rental, they could have followed through and given me the van but they chose to steal my money. RENTERS BEWARE- CONSIDER OTHER LOCATIONS. First, when picking up the vehicle I was given a device to sign for the photos on the vehicle prior to being given the chance to see the vehicle up front. When I arrived at the vehicle with the local branch associate I noticed damage to the vehicle and upon review of the photos sent to my email the damage is not visible. The associate instructed me to "just bring it back to him" and that he would remember the damage. I took photos of the damage to ensure I would not be held liable for any of the damage when returning the vehicle. Additionally, although I stated to the associate when completing the contract the vehicle should be direct billed he still tried to authorized my card for the full rental amount. It was not until I asked 3 times before he checked his records. I reported the damage online upon my return to my workplace to ensure it was at least reported somewhere to the company to prevent being charged, but am still concerned that I will have issues when returning the vehicle. I am also concerned that the location is having other customers sign for the vehicles in the office before walking out to their cars, meaning there is not an opportunity for them to declare damage before taking their rentals off the lot- something that in the past was common practice with Hertz. Second, I received a notification from my bank on 16-Jul that a $610.96 authorization and a $51.25 authorization on my card on 17-July from this Hertz location- even though my insurance is direct billing. I called the local branch 7 times with no answer and finally had to leave my place of business early to inquire why I was charged. I was dismissed rudely by the associate working that "he didn't see any charges" without even looking up my card number nor requesting the exact transaction details. When the manager FAISAL BHATTI arrived back from lunch I spoke with him and was treated even more poorly. He was dismissive when I asked him to send me an email so that I had it in writing from him that he did not see any transactions on his side and so I could have that on record in case the charge cleared. I rented a van months in advance I got my confirmation email and tried to call and make sure they would have the van and I was rushed off the phone the day before saying they won't know will after they are closed what cars are coming. Okay fine I show up and they don't even have me on the list then they bring me to the back to simply tell me they don't have anything for me and I should try U-Haul. I took a ride here at my cost and now I have to take a ride at my cost to a apparently more reliable company. My friend came into town and needed a 7 passenger vehicle which they said they had so day of she calls them and HOURS later she gets someone and they tell her they don't even have the vehicle. So she makes sure they can get a vehicle for her that she can fit her car seats in and they said yes. So the morning of she's trying to get ahold of someone that works there to make sure the car she needs is in fact available. She tried calling for a bout 45 min before we just decided to go there. We get into the shop waited for help and then find out that it's the wrong Hertz. Even though that's the location she called yesterday and they confirmed it. There is no way this place gets the rating I see! I rent a car 2 or 3 times per month. The team at this location was super quick, helpful and very friendly! I got a personal text asking how my car was within the 1st day. I responded thinking it was a generic reply and immediately I had a personal rely and a thank you. I ended up not needing the car for the full week and was able to tell them on that same text, and get the car in early! The office was filthy and smelled of cigarettes, wet towels and garbage. The trash can behind the counter was overflowing with garbage which was certainly contributing to the foul smell. The customer service agent was unfriendly, he seemed irritated by my presence. Not one smile, barely any eye contact. I reserved an EV and got a regular car I wasn't offered options . Rented a car for a week with the rental record being 818906944. I booked through Expedia, Itinerary 72662556878271. The 2019 Sentra was turned over to me dirty, inside, outside, and even in the trunk. The car showed the gas tank at close to 7/8 of a tank full, yet their photo showed it at closer to full, and the car is out of alignment, pulling pretty far to the right. Upon checkout, I asked for a phone number to call. I was given a general 800 number. I phoned it, and their 714 number 4 different times, each time getting into a circular loop and being unable to get through to a human. so I filed a complaint online, only to get this message: "Road Work Ahead. We'll be back shortly...retry your request..." Surely, a corporation that makes it this difficult to contact is a company I am unlikely to use again. if I get no response by Tuesday, I will file a dispute with my credit card. perhaps they will be able to get through to Hertz. read more

We made a reservation and for a great price, when we arrived to pick up the car no one said they didn't have a car available until they saw what we booked for and then they said they had nothing available; they had available cars and specially the kind we booked but they said those were reserved since a month ago . I check the price at that point to see if still showed availability and again, it showed they had the same car available but double the price . Worst rental experience ever. Booked car on Hotwire. Even received a confirmation from Hertz. Went to pick up car. Told there was no car available. They would call or come back tomorrow. I came back the next day. Told I had no reservation. Since I did not get the car the day of, I had to make a new reservation. I was never told to make a new reservation. I started to make a new reservation and they tried to charge me $9.00 a day more than what I had confirmed the day before. I said that they charged me a lot less yesterday and they said that was yesterday's rate. Today's rate is higher. They said not to use Hotwire and only deal with them directly. I had to rent a car through my car insurance, state farm, and I have to admit it was such an easy transaction. Especially since I didn't know the ins and outs of renting a car. When I called to confirm if I could get picked up, Emund (I'm sorry - I'm not sure how to spell his name, but he works at the counter) informed me that they didn't have any midsized sedans but to not worry about it and that they'll figure it out. I was picked up (which they have a policy for, so call beforehand to confirm) and Emund was able to upgrade me to an SUV for free. He also let me know that I can switch it out for a sedan later, just to give him a call to confirm that he has one. I had to drive this SUV for like week, which going from a Honda Accord to a GMC Terrain...was an experience for me. The return was also quick and easy, and I was able to get a ride back home. Some things to know: it's better to put the deposit on a credit card. I believe there's a different process for putting it on a debit card. They do offer a refueling special, in which you don't have to refuel before returning. At the time of my rental it was a flat $57. I personally didn't get it because I want expecting to drive it for that much, let alone for that long. It only cost me $20 to refuel before returning. Also, it's preferred to have a reservation if you are looking for a specific car size. My case was different since it was through my insurance which ended up being no out of pocket costs. I don't understand the reviews both gentlemen were very helpful to my 21 yr old to rent a car. Made it easy and painless and when we returned the car same no problems done and over and walked out happy. And funny my daughter got the rental car she saw at the car show in LA last year.
