With this being my first time reserving a rental online with Hertz I must say it was a smooth process. It was no complications at check out. The car was nice and clean with tent on the rear windows, which was a bonus for me. Not all rental cars have the tent on the rear windows (Enterprise). There was no old lingering smell of tobacco or mary jane, which made my family trip that much more enjoyable. I will definitely continue to use their services for my future car rental services. I had a warning light come on my car on a drive from northern to Southern California. Per customer service I was told to drive here. Bree told me they had no cars and no one from corporate had contacted them. She said if it drives I should be fine despite the warning.. We make it to La and come out to a flat tire after dinner. LOVE Hertz on District and Airport! I had reservations with Avis at airport. They said they would wait since my plane made me 17 mins late. Avis left. Taxi to hotel. Next day, Avis customer service said I was on my own getting back to airport. No cars. Alex with Hertz on District said they would get me back to airport. Alfredo with Hertz even stopped for me to pick up lunch. I wanted a Hertz car. Amanda with Hertz discovered I pre-paid for the Avis car. No refunds on pre-paid Avis car. I did NOT want to take Avis car. Amanda at Hertz encouraged me to save my money. Felt terrible that Hertz took me to airport and I didn't get their car. Alex was so gracious. Said I made his day. Stopped by to get a rental car and the girl who is pictured from other Yelpers was so rude. It's your job to help us with customer service lady, it's not our fault you're working on a weekend. I have used Enterprise since 1992 with nothing but great experiences. This time we had one of the worst rental car experiences of our lives. On the way to Nevada to pick up our family car we barely got out of Bako when we heard a pop and received a warning that we were losing tire pressure then our tire went flat. Since the Lexus had run flat tires we made it to the Lost Hills truck stop on I5. Big mistake. Since we were in a safe spot we were not a priority for a car exchange or repairs. Enterprise personnel didn't tell us that though they said it would be a 44 minute wait. Well after multiple calls and five hours waiting we finally called our son to pick us up. Our trip was ruined. After the dishonesty of the Enterprise employees and learning from the tow truck driver that Enterprise was at fault for putting us on the back burner to save them from making a few calls we vowed never to use their services again. This Hertz location has excellent management and front desk staff. I rent cars all the time with my business and these people understand customer service. All the complaints are probably from people making 3rd party reservations to save a dime. The staff here truly tries their hardest to help their customers. Reserved a car from Hertz, upon arrival I was met by a cold customer service agent with orange red hair. My rental was not ready, to top it off this guy didn't explain to me how this would be resolved. He literally walked away to the lobby restroom as I was standing there. Like walking away by disappearing would solve the problem???? What the???? Kind of customer service is this when traveling??? This place is terrible. Terrible customer service. I rented here before and was not pleased with my service but I was pleased with the car. I made reservations and picked the car up that same day after much back and forth. This time I do the same thing only to get there and nobody was at the counter. I pressed the bell multiple times and called but nobody was there. When the employee finally comes back to the counter he apologizes and says he had to step out for a moment but I'd been there waiting 30 minutes so I know it wasn't for just a moment. I tell him I have a car reserved so he goes to pull up the info then says they don't do same day reservations. That was it. No trying to work it out. And I know they do same day reservations because I have done it at this exact location. read more

I wish I could give Hertz Rent a Car zero stars, but it won't let me. We were stranded in Bakersfield with our family of six because our car broke down. We booked a car through Hertz Rent a Car. We had a confirmation number. My husband took an Uber to Hertz to get the car. When he showed up, they said they were over booked and had no cars available, not even one. They were not helpful. I rented a 2018 Nissan Versa from the Bakersfield Airport location. The next day I had the Car crank and got out of it, and the door locked. I was locked out of the car. I called the Bakersfield Hertz location to find out if they had another key i could get and they didn't. I was told if I had purchased the insurance for the car roadside assistance would have been covered. So I had to call and pay for a locksmith. I also talk to spoke to a representative with Hertz roadside assistance and she told me the door locking while the car was on was a safety measure. I sent a letter to the cooperate office for complaints and requested a refund for the locksmith. Their reply was that they couldn't be responsible for me locking the keys in the car. I was never made aware when I rented the car that this could happen. Most cars now days will not lock if the car is on with the key in the ignition unless you locked it yourself after you get out of the car. Hertz won't get my business ever again. read more

My flight was delayed leaving Denver for Bakersfield. I called the Hertz customer service number to make sure my flight information was on my reservation and noted I would still be needing a rental car. I also got the number of the airport branch, but they never answered. The recording offers a local emergency number but no one answered it either. (I tried for 20 minutes prior to the flight leaving Denver.) The Hertz airport counter closes at 9 pm. My flight landed at 8:55 and I ran to the counter as fast as I could get off the plane, arriving at 9:06. They were closed! The 800 customer service number said there was nothing they could do and this was not the first time it had happened. I needed the car to drive to my resort in Tehachapi. I stayed at a hotel near the airport. The next day, Danielle, the Hertz airport manager, said the employee (Jordan) had not read my reservation! She also said Jordan told her she saw people at the baggage carousel but no one came to the counter so she clocked out at 9 pm! I maintain 1) Jordan should have read the reservation 2) She should have waited 10-15 minutes until all the bags were off the carousel and no travelers were left. Chris is the area manager and agreed to reimburse me for the $124 I lost because I could not get to my resort. My rental car was $123.11 so by not charging me for it, that was fair. HOWEVER, I need to be reimbursed for the $84 hotel bill and Chris refuses to be fair! UNBELIEVABLE! read more
