Overall a pretty terrible rental experience at this location. My flight arrived 25 minutes early so I went to the counter 25 minutes before my scheduled pick up time and they casually checked me out and handed me the paperwork, only for me to unfold the paperwork and see that they charged me the equivalent of a half day rental without verbally mentioning the price hike. I went back to address the price discrepancy and the workers were beyond disrespectful and took no accountability for adjusting price without communicating the change to me at checkout. I then sat there for several more minutes until my exact checkout time hit on the clock so I could get my car at the price I signed in the contract. In addition to the horrible customer service, they don't have a selection of cars to choose from at pick up for President Circle members, and they're are all very basic and seemingly old vehicles. My assigned car was a Toyota sedan without Sirius XM. The one good thing was that the cars were onsite at the airport, so the pick up and drop off was quite easy without having to shuttle anywhere. Though I will maintain my Hertz loyalty because my experience is much better elsewhere, I wouldn't rent from this location.l again. read more

When I got the bill after I had already got on my flight back home they added a line literally called "Additional Charges" without any other description. I had a very late night reservation (12:15 am). My flight was delayed. Not my fault. Rental car companies are notified of delays. I arrived at the counter, and everyone left. All the people that were in the area told me the workers left about 30 seconds before I arrived. When I called, I was told it was my fault for not calling and letting them know about the delay, but, again, rental car companies are notified of flight delays. Then I was told that it closes at 12:30, even knowing of the notified flight delay. I was left stranded in the middle of the night, and according to the incompetent employees, it was all my fault. The person 'HC' (according to the contract) lacked professionalism and personality. She failed to provide basic rental car information, and requirements. She lacked basic knowledge, and rushed the transaction. She did NOT offer any information on the gas refuel policy, and did NOT provide additional rental car insurance information. I was treated so unkind. If my appearance offended or annoyed her, she absolutely showed it. She was very snappy when I asked her to repeat the directions to the car lot. I experienced my worst car rental experience with Heryz. Craig, "the manager" has no problem accepting money from Priceline for a "no show" even though I was there, ready to pay, but didn't have the a physical credit card. My daughter had hers, but since it wasn't mine and didn't match the reservation, they refused to rent me a car, even though I had my ID. Rented a car with an option to not refuel it as they said it would be cheaper than doing it myself. Returned it with half a tank of fuel and they charged me a full tank. I was also told it would only be $51 a day for the car. Over three days it would be $150. Ticket came out to over $330. Don't trust this company. After return of the vehicle, employee walks around car and signs off on car I get receipt like always. Few weeks later get a call from an insurance company that they filed a claim for damage. This was all after the car was returned, which could have been caused by anybody on the lot. Currently going back and forth with them. There was mud and the remnants of a food fight in the back of the SUV. Being a Hertz #1 member means nothing. I made a reservation to pick up a rental from the Boise airport counter on Monday, Jan 8, 2024. My flight was delayed, and upon arrival, the Hertz counter was closed. Myself and at least two other irate customers rented vehicles from the other rental car companies, including National and Enterprise, that remained open to accommodate their customers. Mine was a one-way rental, which the other company could not do, so I returned to Hertz the next day. I received no apology, but was given a vehicle for my one-way rental from Boise to Salt Lake City. The vehicle * Reeked of smoke (attempted to be masked by scents) * Had no snow scraper or brush (in January in Idaho) * Ran out of windshield washer fluid an hour into the drive (through a winter storm) * Had broken sensors resulting in the high-beam lights automatically turning on regularly, pissing off every approaching vehicle or vehicle I pulled up behind I have rented from two franchise Hertz locations, with uncannily similar results. The young man that checked us out had horrible customer service. Totally unhelpful, was in a bad mood and clearly either new at his job or just didn't know it but that part was extremely frustrating. While the people who work here are reasonably nice, this location is not part of the Hertz system, so be wary of renting from there. It makes arbitrary rules. I was charge 1500.00 for a one way fee from Boise to SLC because I had the car for one week in ID and drove down to SLC to leave town from the airport there. I was told this is because of the Corp ownership of SLC and the franchise ownership of Boise. A 150.00 one way fee would have been appropriate. When I returned the vehicle I rented on a Sunday, there was only one vehicle/customer in front of me. Two employees immediately attended to me as I parked, walked around the car, mentioned nothing of any damages to me or to each other, and told me "thanks, you're good to go". THE NEXT DAY on a Monday, Hertz made a claim through a third party for bumper "damages" i.e. a scratch. The pictures that they sent of the "damage" were taken the day after I returned the vehicle. I am positive that those "damages" happened to the vehicle after I had returned it to Hertz. The third party claims advisor communicated to me that the Hertz employees said they were "really busy so we didn't notice it until the next day". Bullsh*t. The fact that they did not document said "damages" until 24 hours after the car was in their possession and had a fake excuse for why is fraudulent behavior and unprofessional at best... I rented a GMC Acadia 2020 for a week in San Francisco, on the third day the vehicle started making sound and the engine light turned on. I called road side assistance and said to go to the nearest Hertz and swap the car. When I got there, this guy said that he can't help me because i dont have the agreement number and his too busy to accomodate me. But he will give me a toyota corolla. When my fiancee started getting upset and told him he'll call the corporate and report him for trying to get rid of us because his busy and he didn't have the time to help us, yet there was no line and it was just us in front of him, then he started helping us and gave us a Nissan Rogue. My girlfriend and I are visiting her mom this week and needed a car to get up to McCall, so decided to use Hertz, seeing how we have rented cars from them in passed and have never had any issues. We let the guy know we needed a car that can drive up to McCall with the snow. We were told it would be fine, all the cars have all season wheels. THEY DO NOT! This car won't even drive on one inch of snow. We went to Les Schwab to buy chains, and the guy there told us they shouldn't have given us the car because the wheels are insufficient for this kind of climate. When we called Hertz to let them know, it was like talking to a wall. We spoke with someone about our situation. and all she rudely told us is that we can't use chains or our contract will be terminated and we have to turn in the car today or we'll be charged another day even though the car cannot be driven. I have driven old hunks of junk up and down to McCall my whole life. Difference is they had actual all season tires with the siding. Never had a issue on this drive. We reserved a car to pick up at 6:30pm on the fourth of July. Our flight landed early and we arrived at the Hertz counter at 6:04pm and they were closed, regardless of having pick up reservations. We would have been stranded at the airport with oversize luggage if Avis rental cars hadn't saved us by having a truck to rent (for $100 cheaper too). When we dropped our rental car back off with Avis a week later, we stopped by Hertz to let them know they screwed us over and they didn't care at all, saying that a sign has been posted at the counter for a week saying that they would close early that day. This doesn't really matter at all because anyone who is flying into an airport and needing a car rental obviously would not be around to read the sign. Basically, Hertz does not care about its customers and we will never rent a car from them and you probably shouldn't either. read more

I hate to leave one star reviews but the communication style and customer service was so egregious by the male manager "C" at this location. I am a Hertz Gold Plus member. I travel and have multiple rentals every year. I purchased a Nissan Xterra in Maui, Hawaii through Hertz Auto Sales. Part of the auto purchase deal was a voucher for a one week "free" car rental. I booked the rental in Boise. When I picked up the car they told me the vehicle I booked would require an "upgrade" fee even though I had a confirmed reservation for the vehicle. The upgrade fee was only $5 per day, it was late, the girl at the desk had no authority to do anything so I let it slide. When I returned the vehicle the lot attendant calculated that I owed almost $200 for the rental. I went inside to the counter, and the person at the counter said I had to talk to "C" the male manager the next day. We contacted the location the next day and the manager said that the "free rental" was not something his location could absorb. He suggested that we take it up directly with Hertz to get reimbursed. I'm sorry, I am the customer here. Hertz needs to work this out internally. Additionally, I needed another rental for the next week. The manager quoted me "rack rates" that were higher than if I booked online. I told him I was a AAA member and he said I could book through the AAA site. I finally asked him directly, "As a Hertz Gold Plus member, and considering the circumstances, what can you do for me today?" His reply, "Nothing..." I slid over to the Enterprise counter and rented a car and they gave me a free upgrade to an SUV. The person at the Enterprise counter even apologized for the treatment by Hertz! My upgrades are generally nice vehicles, even compared with what I get at other locations, as a PC member. Also, the cars are immediately outside the doors from baggage. Two big thumbs up. Zero Stars. I have rented from this location a lot. Never again. At least half the time I have rented here they have tried to charge me more than the quoted rate online. I always print/photograph my confirmation and bring it with me, and they generally give me a hard time but match the rate. Not anymore apparently. Per the manager, this is not actually a Hertz, but some type of licensed location. I really don't understand that because it is a Hertz, and you can book online with Hertz, and they give you the Hertz price online, but once you get there the price changes. Regardless of the explanation, I don't really care. It doesn't feel right to be charged more than my quoted price. read more

Most of the time they are even to help me into a vehicle of my preference if they have the availability. The process is quick and speedy and I love that you can choose for them to fill up the tank (on your dime) but for a cheaper price than outside gas prices! Sometimes their rates are a little more expensive than others, but don't let that deter you. You really get what you pay for here!!! I always choose Hertz. read more
