They are insanely understaffed and they all run around like crazy to make sure people are happy and cars are getting cleaned and sent out. I have to rent my car there through Uber. They do Uber rentals and this last time I went in there there is a black gentleman that stopped Emma he just wanted a quick question not only did she shut them down with I am busy but then when she came and she just walked right by him, I'm busy. I don't have time and went outside. Then she comes back. Sits down at her desk, smacking her gum typing something in the computer doesn't acknowledge the man at all then the phone ringing she takes a phone call still doesn't acknowledge the man just ignores him. Never she was so hateful and rude and the guy said to me. He's like I hate that bitch. I'm like I have been in here several times and why she still works. Here is beyond me Customer Service skills are horrendous and then the manager Shawn just makes excuses for her. Neither one of them in my opinion should be working in that type of environment. They need to be stalking at night time when they're not around customers they have no business in that position. I hope maybe one day the manager will take somebody undercover and see what I'm talking about. People should never be treated bad when we're the customer. You should never treat anybody bad and leave me on the phone for 44 minutes she didn't check on me not once she didn't need to put me on hold. She needs to say I'll call you back or call me back. We rented from Hertz June 27th to the 28th. after dropping off the vehicle and then a few days later we received over a $2000.00 invoice from them. On the invoice it showed that the vehicle was driven to Atlanta. NEVER BEEN TO ATLANTA. The total amount of miles we used the vehicle for was 56. Nashville airport to Franklin. This Hertz is a total scam and i am calling this complete fraud on their part. We believe someone in the Hertz location used the vehicle or they rented it out to another person. To say the least this has caused over 2 hours of our time to fix. We will never use Hertz again. Don't believe this post, take a look at their other revies. read more

When I picked up my rental car it had 3/4 tank of gas. I filled up prior to returning the car, therefore returning with more fuel than when I left. I was offered an "e" receipt and agreed. Upon getting home and checking email, I noticed they had added a fuel charge. The fuel receipt was literally sitting on the passenger seat when I returned the car. When I called the branch, I was put on hold until after 5pm when they closed and they never picked back up. This is blatant theft! They add a gallon or two of fuel to their bill and I'm sure most people don't squack. What a rip off outfit. You just lost a corporate customer. read more

After a long history of renting with Avis (since 2007) I switched to Hertz. This location is consistently fast and friendly.

I have rented cars for years, but this was my first time attempting to rent with Hertz. It will definitely be my LAST! My wife reserved the car online thru Expedia and paid in advance to receive a discount. Please remember this little piece of info - we paid in advance. Everything was confirmed via e-mail and we were all set to pick up the car. Fast forward to the day of pick up and this is where the trouble began. We arrived at the location to pick up the car, and NO ONE was inside. We waited for nearly 7 minutes before anyone came in. There was 1 employee, and she had been outside. Not off to a great start, but OK - whatever. She asked if she can help, and my wife tells her we are picking up. She finds the reservation and begins to process everything. She then asks us to insert our credit card. My wife explains that this was prepaid, but the employee insists we have to provide a credit card for any additional fees. At least that's what she said. When my wife inserted the card the total to be charged showed the FULL amount of the rental. We questioned this, and the lady tells us it will be a hold until we return the car. Major red flags from me, but I waited to see what else she was going to say. We protested, but decided to go ahead and proceed. However, since my wife had paid with her debit card we were then told we had to use the same card. However, because it was a debit card, Hertz was going to put a $500 hold on the card until we returned the car. That's when I spoke up and in a nice way told her what she could do with the rental. I was NOT happy! We told her we would just cancel the reservation. No problem, except it was a problem. She couldn't cancel it. She said we had to call and cancel the reservation. We left very irritated and without a car for our upcoming trip. When my wife called to cancel she was given the run-around and it took nearly 4 days before everything was straightened out. What a horrible experience!! I travelled for business for years and rented cars everywhere from Arkansas to Maine. I rented from Enterprise, Alamo, Budget, and Avis but never from Hertz. Now I know why! This was the absolute worse experience and I will not return to this company again. Buyer beware! There are many better alternatives! read more

My friend from Australia reserved a car the day before & when she showed up they told her she couldnt pick it up today because they needed 24hrs advanced booking when using a debit card. 1.) They had zero explanation for why she could book online & wasnt notified of that then. 2.) They had zero explanation for why that policy existed in the first place. 3.) Most importantly it was the delivery. Zero empathy or care. It was "too bad go away, come back tomorrow". The female at the desk at 12:45pm on 2-2-24 was brash, rude, cold & completely uncaring. She even shooed my friend aside & started talking to the next person in line Without any candor, care or regard. They did not explain why, or offer any alternative options. I asked when they could have a car and she simply said "not today." Then I asked about tomorrow, and she replied the store was closed.... I recently "rented" a car from Hertz. I booked the reservation online the night before when my car had to be towed to a garage. When I arrived at the rental location at 8am the next morning, I was told the card I had could not be used. Because my card has debit capabilities, the representative refused to run it for payment. I explained that I had used the card prior as both a credit and debit and had never had difficulty in the 15 years I had the account, and had rented a car multiple times. I asked the representative to please try the card and he refused. I was now standing in front of the desk with a day of appointments and no car. I asked if there was anything else they could do and the man said no. I walked 2 1/2 miles to another rental and drove away with a car. read more

Cars are never ready despite if you have a reservation far in advance. Sometimes you show up and there are NO cars. Workers simply shrug their shoulders. And don't even try to call them. If I could give zero stars I would. Don't go here expecting to actually receive car even though you prepaid it. It left us in a really bad position. There were other people waiting also expecting a car to rent but no cars were available despite having reservations. Terrible service made worse by the manager Mike who said he would call Hertz for us directly and request the refund. He did not. Called myself the next day and they still didn't process the refund in the billing department correctly as of a week later. Let's hope they finally can get it right. I recently rented a car here and dropped it off at a different Hertz location out of state. There had been a mistake with the fuel level noted upon pickup so at drop off I was charged for fuel. While the customer service at the Hertz Corporate level failed to look on my account and resolve this error, the employees at this location in Franklin had outstanding customer service. After hearing of my issue they were able to look at my account verify the mistake that had been made and the incorrect charges were resolved within minutes. I am very grateful for the kindness and understanding they showed and willingness to make my experience with Hertz turn into a positive one. read more

Even though I had a valid reservation Hertz only informed me at the station that they had no car for me at all and offered no compensation whatsoever. Reading other reviews, this seems to be a common pattern with this store. Staff was also not helpful and arrogant. Even refused to give me a written confirmation that they had no car, which I needed to get back my money. I have actually never taken the time to write a negative review before (for anything). However, my experience with Hertz in Franklin TN was horrible. 1. When I arrived to pick up my reservation that I had made the day before they did not have my rental on the lot. I waited 20 minutes for them to go get the car from an other location. 2. When I dropped my car off I waited for nearly 30 minutes in the lobby calling out "Hello" and even trying to call them on the phone. I heard whom I presume to be the manager on the phone in the back - it sounded like a personal call but I can't be sure. Finally, another customer came in who had the managers cell phone number and called him. 3. They explained that the rental fee and hold would be returned to my bank account and then the next day the rental fee would be taken back out. In my case that was $193+200. I have waited five days and the $393 has not been returned to me. But the additional $193 has been taken out of my account. I called the Billing information in corporate and they said it would be another 2-10 days for me to get that! So right now I have "paid" $586. I am sure I will get the hold back eventually, but up to 15 days after the return of the car? That's insane! read more

I was getting the run around from their customer service after speaking to 3 different customer support reps stating, "your account is closed" when it wasn't. I have been charged $700 in fees! The positives: Dre, the woman who worked behind the counter at the rental location was very helpful, friendly, and positive, and helped me get a discount on the rental after a bad experience with it. The negatives: the car was a "non-smoking vehicle" and smelled so badly of smoke that it got in my clothes and caused one of my friends to sneeze badly (she's allergic to cigarette smoke). And the car shook so badly due to the front end being out of alignment, or the wheels being out of balance, or both, that I couldn't even drive the car at the speed limit on the highways (over 62MPH the car shook violently). When I called Hertz twice to try and get a different car, I was put on hold for 18 mins the first time and 16 minutes the second time, and couldn't get through to anyone. The most unorganized disaster of a business.... No matter how much advance you schedule your rental, they are never prepared for renters. I have rented here many times, because my business makes me... but we have begun to lobby against doing any more business with Hertz. Lines are out the door, and on this particular day, they are averaging 30s per customer. None of the cars are clean, which is normal. This is the second time Hertz has screwed me over, pardon my french. I was supposed to pick up a one way rental to the Nashville airport tomorrow. I made the reservation a week ago. They wait until tonight to contact me to tell me that they are unable to do a one way reservation, as they would lose money because they would be short on cars. This is not for me to figure out, as a company YOU find a way to manage this. DO NOT wait until the night before to inconvenience someone. It was also told to me that the Columbia, TN location has been closed for two weeks due to flooding. I asked why I was not notified as soon as my reservation was booked vs now. Again, this is not a customer issue. Working in a customer service field myself, we strive to do anything possible for the customer. All I received was an unsympathetic sorry and no resolution. No willingness to make an accomodation due to the error on their part. As I mentioned this is the second time. First time, my flight to Syracuse had been delayed, and I did my due diligence by informing the company who booked the reservation. They immediately called Hertz to let them know I would not be arriving until after 9pm. The Hertz representative assured them that someone would be there. I arrived, only to see the Hertz station was closed. Not a soul around. Mind you...per the website it states they are open until 10pm. On top of being stuck in the airport all day due to delays, I then have to call around to find someone to come and pick me up at 10 at night. Thank god for the kind folks at Avis and Enterprise, they truly tried to make every attempt to help, but were sold out. Pretty discouraging when they let me know this happens all the time. Also, no empathy or attempt at resolution in this situation either. Please understand when I say I will never, EVER, recommend Hertz to anyone. The lack of empathy and customer focus/ satisfaction is appalling. I am not one to write reviews, but felt I needed to let people know, especially my fellow travelers. I will now begin my quest to find another alternative to get to the airport. read more

This location is really lousy... They cannot help you if you got your car from a different branch. Not to mention Jimmy, a hertz associate, was apathetic and not helpful whatsoever. We rented our car from BNA and rented for a week. We ended up keeping the car around 48hrs and needed to return the car to Franklin where they did not help us get our money back but told us to call the branch at BNA, who kept us on hold for over an hour!! Needless to say, if you want to rent a car. It was a Friday afternoon during a the big rental car shortage and nothing was available anywhere in Nashville. First, he offered to look at my current broken down car to see if he could help fix it. When that didn't work, he found a way to get a car for my family to drive while our cars were in the shop. He went above and beyond. We were super grateful for his kindness and they have earned a lifelong customer. read more
