Car was in the shop for a couple days and nothing more convenient than picking up here. Process was quick, got a good price with 10% discount and free upgrade to an SUV. I had let some recall work pile up over the past two years and my service advisor finally persuaded me to get them all taken care of. Door locks, transmission bushings and some other maintenance items... It was going to take a bit longer than the usual one to five hours... Called here first after initially planning to rent from the Balentine location because of the longer hours here. Pleasantly surprised to hear somebody pick up the phone as I would arrive just at closing time. I meet Raj and as I get my rental I remember back to this Seinfeld episode fiasco about insuring "other drivers" - so I make sure to get that insurance for peace of mind. I don't know many other places that sell peace of mind beside H+R Block... but I recommend buying that whenever you can. I get my car and it was clean and without any hiccups for the duration of my time with it. I noticed it was very fast. Ate up hills on the freeway yet still got around 35 to 40 mpg on the dash indicator. Newer cars today are coming a long way and one day I'd like to maybe try a Tesla from here. Rude and condescending = will never go again! I just returned a car today, and was treated awfully! The associate who processed the return spoke to me condescendingly--and about a previous rental! He claimed that the last rental would have "qualified" for the excessive cleaning fee, because there was "chocolate on the inside of one of the doors" but he "missed seeing it" when checking in so he didn't charge me "as a favor". And he started the conversation by saying "much better" like I was a puppy dog, and telling me that he remembered me because of "how filthy" the previous rental was. We DON'T eat in the car. EVER. And because of our own (very personal) diet restrictions, we don't buy sugary things when we travel. If they missed seeing it with me, they most likely missed it from someone else. But all of that said, there is a way to give feedback, and a way NOT to give feedback. I know this from decades of customer service work, where I was not just trained but have multiple times been the trainer. He shouldn't have made an accusation. He should have completed this transaction as its own separate entity entirely, then gently given the feedback in a non-assumptive, non-presumptive way. And above all else, he absolutely should NEVER have indicated, true or not, that this is how he "remembered" me. In the future, we will be renting from the much smaller location that is 15 minutes further, because the associate there has ALWAYS been kind to us. read more

Wanted to test out an EV before purchasing, so I rented one for the Memorial Weekend. Isaac was able to find my reservation and get the process started. I was very overwhelmed and I had a young child (that skipped a nap), but Isaac was very very patient. He answered all of my questions and was pleasant to speak with. Even upon returning the vehicle he was very professional, patient, and friendly. I was waiting in their office around the time they close on Saturday when someone who worked there asked if I needed to return. When I said yes, they walked me out and asked for the key, looked around in and around the car and said it's okay to return. When I asked for paperwork he said and I quote "there is no need". I rented a Tesla Model 3 at this location in April 2022, using the Hertz website, and had a perfect experience. The only difficulty was that the website only seemed to know about one Model 3 here, when they had at least two ready to go, so the days available were severely constrained. When I was returning the car, Raj (who is great!) recommended that I come in next time, so I could see all the EV models available. So I did. I walk in, say hello to the young male rep at the counter. I ask, "Is Raj in"? Rep: Uh, she's out on a drive. Me: Oh, ok. (Vague...) Do you have any Polestars at this location, yet? (Hertz signed a deal with Polestar/Volvo in April and they began delivering their EVs in June.) Rep: What's a Polestar? Me: It's an EV. Like the Tesla. Rep: ... Me: Uh, never mind. Hey, if I were to book that Model 3 right now (pointing outside), can I get the same pre-paid rate shown on the website? Rep: You'd... have to bring in your reservation... (mumbles) Me: No, I'm ready to book the car right now for December. I just want to know the rate. Rep: You'd have the reservation when you come in.... Me: What? Rep: ... Me: Hey, since Christmas is on a Sunday this year, are you guys open on that Monday or not? Would I have to keep the car an extra day for that weekend? Rep: Uh.. I booked a midsize SUV and was offered a crossover. I declined and was told that the company considered a crossover to be midsize. There is no transparency and the car was not sufficient for my needs. Then, I was offered another car that was bigger but had clearly been in multiple collisions and was much older. There wasn't even Bluetooth on it which was not a deal breaker but unsure why such an old beat up car was being offered. When asked for other options I was told other SUVs were reserved but I got there really early so not sure why that was the case. They also charged me a cancelation fee after I showed up to my reservation. Not my fault Hertz isn't up to par with technology. Need to put up a disclaimer or something BEFORE they allow you to rent. We reserved and rented a car from hertz paying for the rental in full with a debit card. When we arrived to take possession of the vehicle and pay for extras the agent says, "since u are using debit, we have to run a credit check. " of course, credit check fails. ?? This is essentially a cash purchase and all is left to pay is insurance. Car not picked up. Hertz has refused to refund the debit card for 10 days, refused to esclate the matter, and threatened my client with collections if he escalated to his bank. ? Hertz owes, not my client?? This is a retired man on a fixed income who just wanted to go on vacation. Now his prepaid trip is in jeopardy because he has no car to drive to his airbnb. I have names and operator ##s. Why can a company keep what is essentially cash after they refuse to provide services? I realize if he paid with credit this would not be a problem, but paying with debit (cash) is not illegal or immoral. AND is readily accepted by hertz. The res was booked online, no pop up or any alert that there may be a problem. Basically, they knew when they charged his debit card they would not give him the vehicle and also not refu d him. In addition, there was $500 deposit for using debit that may or may not have been charged and if charged will not be refunded for 7 to 10 days. Can u please out this company? Told her I had an Uber rental pick up scheduled for 1pm. She says "oh it ain't here. It's in the back. Outside. Behind the building. Not here. No Uber." 10 minutes of my life wasted. Ok. Uber rental employees. Very nice! CAR SMELLED OF CIGARETTES AND WEED. GBEY SUPPOSEDLY HAVE A NO SMOKING POLICY. VEHICLE EXTERIOR LOOKED TORN UP. However I dropped off the vehicle Thursday night around 9pm. Today is Saturday. I notice a charge on my account date 2 days after the vehicle was dropped off. Called hertz. Obviously they have to be closed. The lady on the phone said they processed the return for today. Saturday. 2 full days after the return was dropped off. BS!! The employees on both sides are not doing their job. Not only was the vehicle parked relatively close to the front but it was dropped off Thursday night. Meaning the key was in the lock box. Arranged for a pickup service (at 10 min away location) when I booked a car, many weeks ago. On the day of pick up, I called in the morning to confirm the pickup request and time. Time came and went, after 10 more minutes of waiting, I called again to check. Then they said they will be there in 10-15 minutes. So they just forgot about my pickup request even though I called to confirm in the morning, and just headed out when I called again, which was already 10 minutes after my arranged pickup time. If I had to make it on a flight or something I'd certainly be late. Why can't confirmed appointments be taken more seriously? Why waste customers' time? [Edit] it gets worse. I really don't see the point at all of giving this place any stars, but unfortunately I have to give them one. Very unprofessional, and impolite. On March 13th, I came by to pay for a rental extension, but I was charged for a contract renewal, which I should have been given the opportunity to pay later in the week, but they didn't bother to work with me on that, and caused my bank account to be overdrawn. It has also caused me to not be able to do my job as an Uber driver, as far as getting gas for the car, and money for anything else. Then, like out of nowhere, these extremely pathetic idiots come up with the idea to get the vehicle I rented up for repo, by telling me to return the vehicle, without letting me earn the funds for me to pay for either the rental extension, or contract renewal. Are they serious? How the hell do these clueless idiots think an Uber driver makes his/her money? Is someone supposed to appear out of the blue, and just hand us a lump sum of money on a silver platter, or stash it in a box and leave it at our front door or something, instead of earning our money the normal way? Like I said already earlier, very inappropriate, unacceptable, unprofessional, and impolite. This will permanently be the main reason why it's best not to rent from Hertz anymore. A valid reason for sure. It's no wonder why this place got so many 1-star reviews, instead of 5-star. Yeah really, way to go Hertz! Car was in the shop so I needed a rental. Booked a compact car through Expedia that was scheduled to be picked up on 3/22. Once I arrived the sales person informed me that all of the compact cars had been rented out and offered me a Mustang, a Malibu or a Mini Cooper - but for an upcharge. I explained to the sales person that I was only interested in paying the price displayed in my reservation, so I wasn't interested in an upcharge (side note, every other car rental place I've been in my adult life, when they've rented out the cars that were reserved, they usually provide the upgrade with no additional charge). The sales person then got the manager who offered me a Volt electric vehicle for the same price (even though on the website they're about 30% cheaper than the compact cars). I explained to the sales manager that I wasn't interested in an electric car, which is why I rented the gas compact. The manager then stated that they (Hertz) has the option to substitute an electric car, and the information is on their website. When I informed him that I made the reservation through Expedia, he said "Oh, that's why" and went on to explain that that information is not displayed on Expedia. At this point I just asked the sales manager point blank if he was able to rent one of the other gas powered cars at the same price I'd reserved it at, or if I needed to file a complaint.
