Inspect the vehicle with them upon returning, ask for receipts, and keep a sharp eye paying attention to anything they may plan to charge you for or falsely accuse you for. Be ready to take notes for anything you may need to take them to court for. Be sure to video record and take tons of pictures before should you do make a mistake from renting from this scamming place. It's not even worth 1 star. It sucks. All the front desk staff (2 women and a man) are rude and pathetic. They are unorganized and don't know how to talk to customers. I had a confirmed reservation for a Mini Van and when I go to the location to collect it, the lady says "We are out of minivans, you can take a SUV". I am like WTF, it won't work as I want a van as I need more trunk space. Right there I see other lady handing out a mini van keys to another customer. How can they explain that ? So disappointing and frustrating. They are running a SCAM business here. I would advice AVIS to replace the management at this location or else take a beating and lose their customers. It's nightmare to have a business with Avis! We took a 2 hours flight to Vancouver and ended up waiting at Avis "counter for almost 4 hours to pick up a downgraded car. The driver seat adjustment was broken! The AVIS customer service in Vancouver airport was unbelievable bad. One open counter with Avis/Preference light on with a staff has no communicate with a bureaucrat attitude. Their operation is so broken and inefficient, staffs were not competence and have a "DON'T CARE" atitidute. read more

Good experience renting for work. We needed a larger SUV with 4wd and we're able to switch to it from a compact SUV with no extra charge. The terms were clear and the price was much better than enterprise. It didn't take long to get the car once we got to the front but it took very long waiting for the single person working that day to take car of everything for the two groups in front of us including having to run to the back to clean and vacuum their rentals! Appreciate the guy working that day but shouldn't be so short staffed on a busy weekend. read more

I rented a car from the pickup location 5307 Central Ave, Fremont Ca 94538 under rental agreement number . I was leaving for Tahoe and once I received the keys to my rental as I was leaving, I tried to clean the windshield when I found the fluid to be empty. I turned around to tell the person at the front desk, that the fluid was empty and going to the snow I was going to need that fixed. That is when I noticed the front tires were both bald. I told him that the car was not safe to drive to the mountains and he said he would give me another car that was much newer with lower mileage and that this one should be fine! I was then leaving the premises when I drove around a mile or so down the road and noticed that the low tire light on the dash was on. At that time I went to the nearest Gas station to check it out. When I looked at the tires it looked like the front driver's side tire was a bit low. I then found that it was indeed a bit low as all the others were around 38lb pressure and the front drivers side tire was 30. After filling it up I went home to finish packing and left for my trip. I watched for the tire light to come back on but it did not. I was able to drive to Lake Tahoe with no problem. I drove the car a few miles the next day to go to dinner and that was it as my cousins came and they had a 4-wheel drive. It was snowing and we were in the mountains so the rest of the time I drove in their car. On Monday 3/7/2022 When I went out to car to put my luggage in as we were leaving and needed to get on the road early to return to Fremont, I found the rear drivers side tire was completely flat. When I called roadside assistance, I explained to the lady that even though I had a donut in the trunk I could not drive with that on as I was in the mountains and needed a new tire. When I asked her if the tow truck was bringing a tire she responded "YES" When the tow truck arrived 2 hours later he just put the donut on. I asked him why when I told the Roadside assistance I could not drive in the mountains and 200 miles home on a donut. He said " Ma'am I am only here to change the tire." Well, I waited 2 hours. I could have changed the tire and put on the donut myself hours ago. At that time, I was already so angry that I had to have my cousin follow me around to the other side of the mountain an hour out of my way in the mountains to the Avis rental at the Hard Rock Casino and drop that car off. At this point I just need to get in my cousin's car and have her drive me home! I was charged $150 more for dropping it off. What a nightmare! read more

Name it and they got it all for you. Been using Avis for an year at another location but since taking a car from here, been on call with them every month for like half an hour, only to be literally told 'we are cheats don't come here again'. 0 Stars for cancelling my reservation the day before pickup due to "overbooking." I booked the rental a month prior and received a final confirmation email 3 days prior to the cancellation. Note I originally wrote this review on 9/17/2013 but it got assigned to the old location, and I haven't been able to get Yelp to move it. So here it is again, but for the correct location. I've rented from this Avis a few times. I've been happy with the cars, but Avis seems to have adopted some questionable business practices. They decided that (due to a computer glitch they claim) they gave me too good of a discount on the car I rented last month, so they're going to take that discount back and charge my card for it now, weeks later. Checking online I see they're doing this to a lot of people these days. It wasn't even really that great of a discount, hardly seems worth losing a customer for, but I can't do business with a business that's this shady. Update: the reply from Avis: Please view section 16 of your rental contract, which states, "The charges shown on the return record are not final and are subject to recalculation." If you go with Avis, they reserve the right to change your rate at any point after the rental. read more

The customer service and treatment I experienced at this location was so terrible. Rating them just 1 star is giving them a compliment! Negative star is what they earned. Their associates are so ill trained in customer service, simple etiquette and manners it's unacceptable. I am very disappointed and unsatisfied by the service I received by the associate Gram. I recommend to future customers to definitely avoid this location. The owner Tony Nguyen seriously needs to revamp his location or risk losing further business. Terrible customer service. We came here at 8AM. IT IS NOW 8:38AM. MANAGER IS STUCK IN TRAFFIC. I don't know what kind of a clown hired this highly under qualified idiot. You just can't come to work 38 minutes late. If there's traffic when you're coming from 1 and a half hours away you better be leaving around 2 and a half hours before your shift!!! I stated "My friend and I have a reservation at 8AM, the moment you guys open and we had to leave as soon as possible to catch our flight on time to pick up two friends before that. The car they promised us, it was there parked up but someone smashed the Drivers side of the window so we couldn't take it. Best options were a F-150 truck which looked spacious and a ford SUV which was a little less. Oh and by the way the co workers covered up saying there was bad traffic because we walked here for 45 minutes and saw no traffic anywhere that leads to here. Maybe there was a little of traffic when he started driving(making him 38 minutes late) HIS FAULT. Wake up earlier you lazy bum. Worst car rental in the area. I have been renting cars for years, and this is the worst car rental office I have ever encountered. I rented an SUV to take to Tahoe for two days, and decided to choose this office because it was conveniently located. Big mistake. What kind of place asks the customer to wash the car before returning it or else face a car cleaning fee? Especially when they gave the car to me in filthy condition? I'll be driving to the airport next time, not coming back here. When I picked up the car, it was so filthy (i.e., generally sticky and gross) from the inside that I had to use clorox wipes to wipe down the steering wheel and other surfaces before I felt comfortable driving it. I didn't want to get sick from whatever crud was on it. After two days of driving in bad weather, the car naturally had residue from the snow and salt on the road along the exterior. When I returned the car, the man in the office asked me to go take it to a car wash or suffer a "cleaning fee." Seriously? I've rented cars forever and this has never happened. The absolute best place to get a rental. Wife and I go out of town several times a year and always come here. The agents are super nice and really work with us to get the best car at a decent price. One of the salesman suggested we rent a Subaru. I had some reservations about. But he was absolutely right. It was the best car ever. This is my second rental from Avis on Central Ave. in Fremont, CA. My first experience was hard to beat as I got a new Camry with 17 miles on the car. This weekend I was going up to wine country to meet my brother and his family in Windsor. Traffic leaving the bay area on Friday is gridlock and its a tough drive in a manual transmission car like my Corvette so I rented a full sized car once again. I ended up with a little Mazda 4 door and when I went out to the car it was just filthy. It had rained recently and so I just rolled with it. The counter employee showed me how to start the car...push button start...then basically just walked away. I had to wash the inside windows as they were so smeared with what I figure was dog saliva that I could barely see well enough to make a safe lane change. The car had been quickly vacuumed and that was it. Lots of dust on the dash and in the gauges etc. and even the wheels...read hub caps...were filled in with brake dust and road dirt. I will try them once more this Christmas then just find another rental outlet. One piece of advice would be to use your Amex card if you have one. I have read of them adding charges to your account after you check the car back in. With Amex they would not do this because all you have to do is call and dispute the charge. read more
