Then on top of that they used my email for another location out of state from where I'm from. I could understand if someone who rented it didn't return it , it wouldn't be their fault but the other Hertz didn't bring the pick up I reserved a week ago for my husbands birthday. I had it reserved for 9 am and they say It won't be here till 12. Un real they could have called us. So the guy is going to go pick one up at another my er location.The guy said he didn't know what shape vehicle will be in. Dirty or what not. I'm like don't care as long as it's not damaged. So he went to get me one. I appreciate that but why couldn't this have already been done or they call me so I didn't have to lose sleep. I could be sleeping. I work graveyard. Gave me a rental with a dead electronic system that didn't work at all including AC, needed an oil change, and had a low tire. They admitted they didn't check it before they gave it to me. I don't usually right bad reviews unless it's really bad. So frustrated!! We rented the mini van from LAX Hertz, drove maybe 20 miles and the check engine light came on. Went to the nearest Hertz's location thinking they would help us since it is the same company. Nope!! Of course any vehicle that could fit us was reserved (so they say) and so we had to take out all our luggage cause the tow guy arrived. Instead of getting a suitable vehicle over to us, my husband had to take a Lyft back to Lax. They did not provide a Lyft that could fit all of us, and our luggage. I had to stay back with Four kids. Staff was friendly which is why I gave two stars but I simply cannot give more than that. I asked to be picked up from my mechanic at a specific time and they said they could not do so until I was ready to be picked up. The representative who I spoke with told me to call one hour ahead of time, and this was clearly wrong. I had to be dropped off by someone else to not lose one hour of my time (minus one star). When I arrived to pick up the vehicle, it was just returned and dirty. I requested another vehicle and was told I would have to wait thirty minutes or more for a clean one. (minus one star). As soon as I got into the vehicle, I noticed it smelled like cigarettes. I told the lady and she said she has already noted it. This is a non-smoking vehicle and I do not smoke. There are never enough employees, do not expect to spend anything less than an hour and a half here with an appointment. Need a same day rental no sir not here! Hertz Gardena....let's go....FOR RACISM! So, I will be fair, as the staff was courteous. When I arrived for my reservation, I was told that they only had a dirty car available. They refused to upgrade me to an SUV that they clearly had available. So instead of leaving on vacation, I had to take the car to a car wash and spend an hour at the car wash. I guess COVID19 protocols are an after thought. After spending an hour at the car wash, had to fill the empty gas tank. I called corporate and they told me to check with the Gardena branch, for a discount. When I got back I asked the manager, Chris, for a discount. No discount was offered, but I was instead given a $25 voucher for their poor COVID19 protocols. As he proceeded to speak Spanish to his associate, I was issued the voucher. Came in this morning and I greeted and treated with respect. The staff was friendly and courteous. They took care of me pretty quickly. I think in was in there about of of ten mins for the whole process from start to end. They set me up with a pretty decent car (jeep renegade). I really didn't care because it's the insurance company that's is paying for it and I need something that's good on gas. This location is conveniently located close to my house so when I have to return it they are not across town. The other plus for this location is that if u use Caliber Collision, it is in the next lot so u can just literally walk 1 min to get there. This is the best Hertz location I've dealt with! I went to the Hertz location in Lomita to get a rental car after a car accident and they had the smallest selection of cars... I have a fully loaded Prius and they couldn't even give me a car with a backup camera. I even called them a couple days later to get a different car because I felt unsafe and they were not understanding and could not accommodate my needs. However, Gardena's Hertz has an amazing selection of cars. Both times I came for a rental car, I asked for a car with a backup camera and they had so many! I rented out a 2017 Ford Fusion for a week and then a 2017 Volkswagen Jetta. I was so impressed that all of their cars were fairly new. Service was also very good. They were able to pull up my reservation, examine the car, and hand me the keys really fast! I would recommend coming here if you want a decent rental car and great service. read more

Understaffed! Horrible system for the lobby. Picking up and dropping off takes far too long. They hardly have enough room to store the cars. We always used the torrance location on Hawthorne and never had problems like this. Now that this one is open, Torrance isn't even allowed to pick us up or drop us off. Not even if this one closes early and we lose hours off our rental. Do you know they will charge you for dropping it off at another location even when it's their own fault and/or limitation? And the sad part is they themselves transport cars between other hertz, some far away when they need cars. The employees will argue with you rather than to make a simple phone call. We reserved a particular car ahead of time. Got there and there was only two cars to rent on the lot. That would be fine except that they were no where near what we reserved. Sometimes that's okay and we'll take it anyway, but sometimes there is a specific reason a customer reserves a particular type of car. In no circumstance is it ever okay to tell a customer in so many words "it's not my problem, take it or leave it." A car was on the lot I'd been willing to take as it was like what I reserved, "oh, it needs an oil change."?!? Wouldn't you go get the oil changed? Well, if the dude would have just gotten on the phone when we asked and called to other locations like he did for other customers earlier that day, I would have had a car. It's funny that when we called to another location, a car we would have been willing to take was just being assigned. The manager is a lying pompous windbag. He might seem nice at first, but then he does a jekyll & hyde on you. He lied about a car trying to prove a point and to get us to rent it. I already know a bit about cars, but I looked that car up just to see for myself, and of course he lied. He was scarcely there when the business first opened, and he surely doesn't need to be there now. Part of being a mangaer is customer relations and he is not a people person. I don't get it. As the place is small and new, there aren't many cars to begin with. You don't think you need to wash, fix or change the oil on the few left on the lot? Had to come in today since I obviously couldn't get anything yesterday. And my two options were to either smell smoke, or take the other one to the car wash myself since no one else was there to take it. I'm sorry, but we're making phone calls, losing rental days we wanted, washing cars, and being made to jump through unknown hoops after renting the car? There shouldn't even be this kind of inconvenience and there's no need for attitudes like the manager's. Can someone tell me what the purpose of opening this location was? They run quickly out of cars even when there's a reservation, what's left is broken or not clean, they often can't pick you up or drop you off because no one is there. Already they either need to clean house, or close it down. Even if you need the pick up service, by all means go to another location. SAME DAY UPDATE: 3/1/13 5pm I cannot believe what just happened??? We went to the car wash and spent at least an hour of our rental time there. While there two people from hertz show up, one being Adolfo the manager. Only the outside of the car was washed. Then the attendant disappears for I don't know how long. Is the car finished? Is he getting more needed materials? No, he had given the keys to Adolfo which we didn't even find out until inquiring of someone named Tony from the car wash. It was only then that he finally brought the keys over. And get this, he hands them to Tony like we're not even there and walks away with a smirk. Now the only reason we even brought the car to the car wash was because of the interior. It was a mess inside, trash on the floor. The guy had taken water bottles out the car before we even left Hertz (and that's because his niece recycles). And before renting the car and taking it off the lot, we were under the impression that the interior would be cleaned. Why else would we take out time on our clock and dime? Well according to Tony who is another version of Adolfo (which I will later explain in a review of his business), the agreement with Hertz is that they only wash the car. When people rent cars, does only the outside (which I cared nothing about to begin with) accumulate dirt and debris? No. They're all covering for each other. Just moments before while our car was sitting by its lonesome, we watched as Adolfo and Kenny helped the car wash attendant wipe down the interior of another rental car to get it done faster. What kind of crap is this? If I had not promised to be somewhere tomorrow, I would not keep this car. It is not okay to waste people's time and to treat and talk to people like they do. Dogs get better treatment, and we paid for this. This location is lead by a bully who would rather escalate a created problem than to just handle or prevent it. Then I asked about upgrades, which I've always received as a Gold member. Nope, needed to pay more. In a nearby location, I paid for a Santa Fe and received a fully loaded Expedition and a fully loaded Dodge Ram.
