Alamo Car rental is inside the Ontario Airport along with the other car rental agencies. A bus makes the loop between terminals, lots and the car rental area. Ontario Airport is a small (though international) Airport with 2 terminals. Getting the rental car was easy. Bus ride was 5-8 minutes, no wait at counter (pre filled info online), and choice of cars. Easy access to interstate as well. Car return was a breeze but pretty good wait for the shuttle bus. Overall a positive experience. read more

If I could leave no stars, I would. I was already unhappy when I received a dirty rental car from this location, but my husband and I were pressed for time and had to leave for Las Vegas, so we took the vehicle anyway. Things got even worse after we returned the car. My husband accidentally left his wallet inside the vehicle. We realized it the next morning, which means whoever cleaned or handled the car after return had access to it. My husband immediately went to the Alamo Ontario location the next day, around 8:00 a.m., and the staff told him the wallet was not there. I then filed a lost item claim online around 8:15 a.m. Strangely, at 3:30 p.m., we suddenly received a call saying the wallet had been "found." This entire experience felt dishonest and extremely unprofessional. Trying to contact the Ontario office was nearly impossible, and there is no direct corporate number to properly escalate concerns. The lack of accountability is unacceptable. Now I have to take time off work and return in person just to file a complaint. Horrible customer service from start to finish. I will NEVER rent from this location again, and I strongly suggest others avoid it as well. Alamo needs to hire employees with integrity and create a system where customers can actually hold locations accountable when issues happen. I am extremely disappointed. The Alamo rental is located inside the Ontario Airport. Ontario Airport is small and easy to get around. Just like any other airport, everything is labeled with signage. It was easy to find the rental desk. Thank you Mark for assisting us with the check-in process. He was very courteous and welcoming. The greeters were also helpful in assisting us with picking a car. I didn't catch her name, but she was very knowledgeable in which vehicles they had available. My biggest advice is to take photos and videos of the rental before driving it off. Test everything like the horn, wheel, windshield wipers, etc. Ensure everything is functioning properly. We chose a 2026 Toyota Camry SE Hybrid. It had under 400 miles. I'm used to driving Toyota Camrys. The system was easy to use, and it was easy to drive to our destination. Pricing was decent and considered affordable nowadays. Of course everything, from insurance to road side assistance, is an add on. read more

Easy online reservation process. We found what we needed with unlimited mileage and open at the times that worked with our trip plans. A mix up happened and staff was able to direct me with a quick fix. We went outside and got to choose whichever vehicle that fit in our category. A seamless process to get your day on the move. All the car rental companies are in this hub. Plenty of seats to wait inside. 2024 Toyota Camry seemed to catch hubs attention with the bright red. Comfortable bucket seats but only complaint was the headrests were at a weird angle that was not neck friendly. I felt like my head was tilted down when sitting upright. Smooth ride overall. Touch screen radio where's the numbers lol cruise control assist with auto adjusting speed. Large trunk space. Sedan but felt more like a coup with how far we put our seats back. Not much leg room if we had passengers. The return process was easy and fast. Just drive up to rental car return to the right of the rental offices. Drive around till you see the Alamo logo and enter through that gate which will be on the left hand side. Go between the cones heading straight towards the main building. Staff will assist with where to park. They'll scan you and a receipt will be emailed. KISS keep it simple sonny. I would rent through Alamo again for the ease of service and selection of cars. read more

First time ever experiencing a memorable rent a car experience through my entire years of renting a car all over the world. It's already uncomfortable going to renting a car, you go to the front desk, they start throwing add ons options, and extra fees and costs for such and such. Alamo in Ontario Intl Airport got straight to point, didn't pressure us at all. We got our car but realized we had more bags than expected to fit. Alamo saw our struggle and was so nice to find another car of similar size to fit our bags. So glad Costco partners with them. Glad I didn't go with my first choice, a competitor. Was quite impressed .... As a frequent business traveler I tend to use the agencies that offer the easy in easy out options. Alamo was able to keep pace with the competition. I used the QR code at check in so I didn't have to go to the counter, I was able to pick my car from the lot and then go! It was so easy. What was most impressive was my return as it was in the middle of a massive rainstorm and they do not have covered return area. They made arrangements for me to leave the car as close to the entry door as possible and were very expeditious with the return so I didn't have to get soaked and they kept a smile on while they stood in the rain. I had car issues on the way back from Vegas but managed to book a rental in less than an hour notice and was able to pick up a rental easily at the vegas airport. It was a smooth process and I was quite happy with my rental. I also was happy that the price for a quick rental was very reasonable and the car they offered was quite new. It was the smoothest and enjoyable ride back to LA. Dropping off the car rental was even easier at the Ontario airport. The airport has a designated area for car rental pick up. Once you arrive in the airport area, look for signs to direct you to car rental drop off. They make the drop off so easy. Once I pulled up, I was greeted with a smile. The staff quickly examined the car and in the end asked if there is any issues with the car and how was my drive. In less than 2 mins, I was done. I was so shock on how quick and easy it was. Awful service. I reserved a car thru Costco earlier during the day for 9:00 pm arrival. I get to the counter to check in, informed they have no cars available. On a Tuesday evening @ 9pm, no cars available? I had a reservation. They claimed only large size luxury SUV available at triple my economy reservation. I told the manager Dave and the counter guy this is not my fault, why did you not inform me earlier? Why do I need to pay the extra for your unavailability. He said sorry, everyone is having the same issue at Ontario airport, and he can't reduce the rate. Fearing the worst, I agreed to the larger car with the highest rate. It's us now past 10pm. Then he proceeds to check me in, and said the system failed my drivers license check. I'm really confused now, since I had rented from Alamo before w/out issues. End result. He said he couldn't rent the car to me, finally went next door to Dollar to beg and see if they had a car. They had plenty of cars in stock and available, and an absolutely reasonable rate. I paid ahead of time to fill the gas at $4.69 a gallon . Instead when my husband returned the car I was charged twice foe returning the car not full. April 2024- the check in process with the counter agent was easy and he was friendly. However, my dissatisfaction is due to the car itself. We arrived late, just before 11pm. When we chose our car, it seemed clean and had a sanitizing wipe and card saying it was clean and thoroughly. However, it wasn't until we drove odd the lot and turned on the A/C that we noticed a strong cigarette smell. None of us smoke and I am actually allergic to cigarette smells. We thought maybe by opening the windows we could air out the car. But the next day as we drove the smell was just as strong and it was starting to bother me so much that I had to call Alamo. The problem with calling is that it's an automated call service and none of the options fit my need. So I was on the phone for 15+ minutes trying to get a live person. Finally I was able to speak to someone and in the end I had to go back to the rental and exchange the car. This obviously was an inconvenience to our schedule but the cigarette smell was no longer endurable. Other than that the customer service was good. However I'm not sure if I would rent from Alamo Ontario airport again in the future. read more

The vehicle we rented was a 2025 Ford Expedition Max, drove 60 miles and the vehicle sat for a day. When we went to leave and the brake system had a complete melt down, the vehicle would not stop and when it did the wheels would lock up. We contacted roadside assistance and after 3 agents and 2 disconnects, we got a tow truck to get us back to the rental counter. Upon arriving they were expecting us and Marcelo was on it right from the start. He got us switched over to a different vehicle. Upon returning the 2nd vehicle Marcelo and Ellie went above and beyond ensuring we were taken care of! I can't say how refreshing it is to encounter customer service at that level these days. Marcelo and Ellie at the Ontario Airport location including the agents at the front desk were amazing and this whole experience ended up being a good one even though the vehicle let us down! read more

Is there a rating less than one star??? I could write a novel! My wife rented a car here, and she drove away without the FOB, which we suspect was in the pocket of the lot attendant. She did not notice any warning on the dashboard about the key not being within range, but when she reached her first stop, the car obviously would not start. She called Alamo, and they gave her a tow truck company to call. The car was towed, and Alamo told her to Uber to the Enterprise office in downtown San Bernardino, where they would give her a car. She did that, but Enterprise had no cars available. She Ubered to our daughter's home, and the next day called Alamo again. Instant replay, and again no car available at Enterprise. Two Alamo managers gave her their cell numbers, and she has texted them multiple times, but still no car. They said they would reimburse her for the Ubers, but then they went dark. I called and emailed Alamo, and they said someone would get back to me. Nothing! Then, a month later, they hit our credit card for the tow truck fee. I called again, and again they said someone would get back to me. Again, nothing! I disputed the charge after I gave Alamo a month to respond. NEVER AGAIN WILL I RENT FROM ALAMO!!! read more

Yelling at customers then getting mad because i got upset. Guy with her was rude too. You are unable to call them ahead of time to ask questions prior to booking the rent a car. I called the place i booked with and ended up going with Hertz instead and they were super friendly and helpful. If I could give this place a 0 I would, I was just there at 4:10pm 7/25/25, they were extremely disrespectful and discriminating by the way we look, I have always rented cars elsewhere and never had an issue. First when I got there the worker there seemed uninterested in helping us I do not remember her but she was an Indian slim woman she should be removed and have someone there that is more interested in helping customers, then when she ran my License she stated that she needed to verify if it was "real" then she said that my license didn't go through and was asking me if I have a bill to prove that it was me and to prove my license was "real" and couldn't be verified, which is weird because like mentioned I never have had an issue renting a car from Hertz, Avis, Enterprise. Then she tried to change her words and say it was because we were renting a pick up truck which was a bigger but that is a lie because I always rent trucks I rented one from that same exact place a month ago and was never asked for a bill as "proof". When did car rental companies rent out luxury suvs such as the Infiniti QX80 only with second row captains chairs? For my rental we needed a large suv that had bench seating. We looked around the lot for awhile which included vehicles such as Cadillac Escalade, Ford expedition, and Infiniti QX80s. We finally found a 2023 Ford Expedition MAX that had bench second seating. The employee was reluctant in letting me take this vehicle since it was classified as a premium suv. But remember I paid for a luxury suv. The employee agreed to let me take it. It was a nice 1 week rental. After more than 1800 miles it was time to return the vehicle. The vehicle performed great. The employees were friendly and attentive to my needs. Returning was quick and easy, less than 10 minutes. Would definitely rent here again if it's the right price. read more

I will never rent from Alamo again. I'm going to start with I'm quite familiar with renting cars, as I travel on a regular basis. I booked a rental car with Alamo for 6/12-6/28 for a road trip with my kids. I realized a week before my high limit credit card was left at my other house in Missouri and I'm in southern CA (where I reside). I called Alamo on Friday June 4 to verify the hold deposit on the card upon pickup so I could make sure I brought a credit card to use that had the correct limit for the hold, and I'd switch to debit upon pick up. I informed the customer service rep I live in CA and I'm renting from Ontario airport (again, I'm familiar with policies here). I was told the deposit hold is $400, even though he knew I was from southern CA so there was no return airfare ticket. I get to the counter at 6:30am to pick up, and my credit card is declined because they're trying to charge $1500 to it. The cost of the rental, PLUS deposit. Despite the fact I called to verify the credit card hold and was told $400. Customer service did nothing to rectify the situation regardless of being given misinformation. Their shenanigans of giving people incorrect information has now cost us a 3-4 hour delay on our trip. Alamo claims it's not their fault I was given misinformation by their customer service rep and I was told they can't change policies. I wasn't asking for the policy to change, I was asking for an explanation as to why I was given incorrect information. I've rented from nearly every rental car company, and Alamo is now in the bucket with fox rental cars. Stick with Dollar, Hertz or Thrifty. read more

Was in the door, processed and in the car (the type I actually reserved - unlike most Hertz rental experiences) and out the gate in record time. Car was clean and well maintained. I reserved a full-size SUV through my Costco Travel account. The gentleman at the Alamo front desk was very professional and helpful on arrival. After walking out to the vehicle I noticed it wouldn't accommodate 5 large suitcases. I returned to the front desk and updated it to their larger SUV (Expedition Max). As I drove off their lot the vehicle had a strong odor of cigarettes. On my way home, it was so prominent I had to roll the windows down to air the vehicle out. When I arrived home I had to sanitize the SUV with 2-car deodorizer (car bombs) and two scent trees. While cleaning the SUV I discovered a marijuana joint in the center console too. When I returned the SUV at Ontario Airport, I complained to the attendant about the odor and that I found a joint in the vehicle too. She deducted $50 from the total but didn't seem to care much and said I took $50 off for you. Wow, I spent $30 just on supplies to clean the SUV so thanks! read more

The most abhorrent customer service experiences of my life! Last week, my husband made a car rental reservation using Alamo's website. He was able to book online successfully and received an official reservation confirmation number via email. Come time to pick-up our rental, my husband arrived to the Alamo counter at the Ontario Airport rental terminal and was met by an extremely disrespectful counter employee. She told my husband that although they did have midsize rentals in inventory and readily available, they were not honoring same day reservations. To reiterate, we were not told that there were NO midsize vehicles available, we were told that reservations made prior to 24hrs were being given precedence. The counter employee (a young woman magenta colored hair) went on to tell us in her infinite wisdom & holier than thou attitude that the way she "sees its", "people smart enough to make their rental reservations in advance (as opposed to same day) deserve to have their reservations available. The audacity she had to not so subtilty call us stupid and underserving was outrageous. In the spirit of debate, I countered her asinine reasoning by asking whether a person experiencing a sudden death in their family needing a same day rental should have been smart enough to plan in advance? She then asked me to stop using her words against her. We asked to speak with a manager, the responding station manager (Geoffrey M.) was unprofessional and lacked tack. He told us the same thing; they had vehicles available but not for same day reservations. We asked Geoffrey for his manager's contact number but he refused to provide it, we were only given an email that was futile in our current dilemma. The manager's overall attitude was arrogant and indifferent. There was no engaging dialog or rational answers provided, there was no attempt to resolution on his part. He kept repeating the same rehearsed response. With no other Alamo employee onsite willing to mediate or assist, I contacted Alamo customer service via phone. The call center customer service rep looked-up our reservation, confirmed its validity and assured us that as long as there is inventory, they must honor our reservation. The call center rep stayed on the phone with us as we returned to the counter to speak with the manager once more, the phone representative tried her hardest to assist us, she was advocating on our behalf directly with the manager (Geoffrey) for about 20 minutes. She told him she could see that there were still reservations available at their location and repeatedly asked him why he would not honor our reservation. The station manager's response was repeatedly that it was their "policy" not to honor same day reservations that day. She told him various times that was not Alamo's policy, if they have vehicles available, they must honor our reservation for up to 24hrs. The station manager wrongfully continued to use the term "policy" to justify their decision to not honor our reservation. She asked him why it was that she herself could still create a same day reservation if they were choosing not to honor them, his response was "I don't know", she then asked him how they could fix that issue so that no other customer would find themselves in our situation, he once again responded "I don't know". The call center customer service rep was just as dumfounded and frustrated as we were. She reassured me that we were on a recorded line and that she would try her hardest to rectify this. In her continued attempt to assist us, the phone rep changed our reservation to a sister agency (Enterprise) at the same airport. The manager (Geoffrey) condescending told us it wouldn't make a difference as he was also the manager at Enterprise and that we would be given the same response at Enterprise. True to his word, Geoffrey denied honoring our rental reservation at the enterprise counter as well. It felt like that scene in Vacation where the mechanic ripping them off was also the town Sherriff (you give a person a little bit of power, yeesh). At this impasse, the phone rep escalated our complaint to a hire-up department. We were transferred to another customer service rep whom ultimately created a complaint report. She too could not override the onsite management's decision so we were forced to use another car rental agency at the same airport. Luckily a competing rental agency (Avis) was able to help us lock-in a same-day rental immediately following our nightmare experience at the Alamo/Enterprise counter. It was mentally exhausting dealing with such apathetic personalities at the counter. I'm a manager for a contractor, so I'm no stranger to disputes and compromise but I could never fathom treating a customer this badly. I feel compelled to warn others. TL;DR - Don't use this Alamo for same day rentals (or at all if you can avoid it). Terrible customer service. Apathetic employees. Extremely dissatisfied. read more

Our rental completely died computer in the car fried, broke down in the middle of the mohave desert in 117 degree heat and Alamo couldn't care less. They wanted us to figure out how to get a dead car off the freeway until they would even offer to help us. Multiple people we spoke to were incredibly unhelpful, they had no problem solving ideas and basically left us in the desert on the side of the freeway with a dead car and all of our stuff for hours. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They could not care less about you or your well-being they only care about making their money if i could give negative stars i would!! UPDATE.
