When I got there after making a reservation they had no cars available not only that I was informed they had no cars for multiple people coming the same day who made a reservation 2 months ago who were likely reserved as part of their vacation. Worst car rental experience of my life. If you're contemplating renting with hertz, thrifty or dollar DO NOT do it. Picked up the vehicle it was dirty inside and out and they said they weren't able to even wash the outside. Looked like someone spilt a milkshake in the back and there were ants all over the inside of the car. Not to mention one of the tires went flat within 30 minutes of getting it. No one answered at the pick up location in Katy so I give the choice to drive the car all the way to Houston airport or Austin... I was headed to San Antonio. Finally got them to allow me pick up a new car in San Antonio. This is after of course waiting to get a spare tire put on and taking it to a maintenance shop so they can patch the tire. Get to San Antonio and they wouldn't take the vehicle. Stating I took it to an unauthorized dealer and they have no record of me getting a new car. Had to spend a bunch of time on the phone with customer service then the airport location finally got everything they needed and apologized and said I o longer owed all the additions they were previously going to charge me. New car was great (so I thought) it was at least clean on the inside and out however the next day again a flat tire. Because it was drivable they have me go to another shop. It took forever for maintenance to approve the transaction then the Hertz maintenance worker asked if I had time to get a complete inspection, oil change and a few other things done on the vehicle since I was there. WTF ... I'm like am I on Hertz payroll now? Am I getting paid for this or at least a discount or a free rental since I'm now spending more than half my vacation getting their vehicles fixed... nope nothing. Worst ever. This is now the third time renting with a hertz and each time has been horrible. And each time has resulted in me having to pick up another vehicle out of my way. Third time is NOT a charm. I've rented so many times with enterprise and have never had this experience. Worst part went to drop it off. Was told that they are closed because the person went home early then a random valet dude was like I'll drive it below with the rest of the hertz vehicles... WTF ... no I need to tell them about this experience. Someone ends up coming back after being on the phone forever. He says he's going to give me a discount but didn't. Charged me exactly the same. I will NEVER deal with Hertz again but especially their Katy, San Antonio airport or San Antonio downtown Marriott location. They are all trash. I'm surprised Marriott lets that trash take space in their building. If you want an unsafe vehicle that's dirty and tires that have no air or get flat quick and a place that has poor customer service make sure to hit up those locations - they specialize in it! read more

We came for the Texas solar eclipse and were lucky to get the car we had reserved months earlier. Lucky because it was entirely possible that the person who rented the car before us might have decided to keep it for a few more days because of the shortage of cars to rent. Fortunately, we picked up our car a few days before the big rush. They guy at the counter said the Hertz computer system overbooked their location based on their assumption that a certain percentage of reservations will cancel and if needed, they could get cars from other nearby Hertz locations. That assumption turned out to be completely incorrect for this special event. He said they took reservations from about 50 people without having cars for them. Special thanks to the dude behind the counter who patiently explained everything to us after he left the counter to go get our rental car from their nearby lot. The car that was assigned to be had a shattered windshield. When I saw the car I called back upstairs to the office and they said there weren't any other cars but that they would document the damage and not charge me if I chose to drive it anyway. They charged me. I fought this for weeks with Hertz customer service and their response multiple times was that I should have reported the damage right when it happened to the Roadside hotline. I explained multiple times that it was documented that the damage happened before I ever even saw the car and they were not willing to hear that. At the same time though, a person who expects to get good service from Hertz, likely also expects to get a lobster dinner at McDonalds. Bad service and fair pricing is Hertz' business model. I Went to rent a car here after ja ing a horrible time with Enterprise The young man working the desk was super friendly and accommodating. I am not used to keyless cars and all that electronic stuff that new cars come with theses days. The young man was able to show me how to use many features on the car. He also guided me out of the garage which was a bit confusing with many tight turns. I had no issues with my rental agreement at all. The car was super clean and well taken care of. The rental location is in a nice hotel down town if you are looking for fair prices, good clean cars and a caring staff, this is the pace to go. read more

I reserved an economy car for Dec 9th at the location on 5714 loop 410 W /suite 400 ;conf# K70000310A9 for $69.77. Upon arrival the agent advised me that me he did not have my reserved rental available but I get a larger vehicle for $107. Wow what type of scam is that to get you in at a lower price then increase the price when you get there. Well needless to say I cancelled the reservation which left me in a last minute pickle. In my opinion Hertz is a well known successful company and should not rob their customers for their lack of not having the reserved car rental. It was not my fault and I was baffled that the agent would not provide me with my original rental price. Take better inventory and stop price gauging. If I could give zero stars I would! Derek Diaz is the worst type of employee. First, we walk up to the desk and he literally looks like he rolled out of bed and went to work. He asks for our name and then he tells he tried to call to let us know he did not have a rental and there was nothing he could do about it. We had no voice mail, no missed call. I asked for his card. He claimed he did not have one. I asked for a manager, he claimed he was the manager. I asked for the corporate number and he gives me the number for customer relations. I immediately call to find out what we can do, as we are now stranded in San Antonio with no rental. He was rude and crass and did nothing to help us until I was on the phone with customer service. Why he couldn't have done this in the 4 hours from when he supposedly called us to the point that we arrived makes no sense as all. I find it excruciatingly hard to believe that Hertz would simply not honor our reservation. We have never had this issue with renting with Hertz before. I was able to obtain the district managers email and reported this horribly unprofessional behavior from this buffoon of an employee. I would NOT recommend this location due to the employee's lack of professional look, manners, and conduct. read more

Called to confirm my rental the day before pickup, was told they had my car and that they would call me back this evening to arrange pickup. They never did. I called the next morning and the same guy told me "it was just me last night and was busy" okay. Understandable. BUT WAIT! He then says they don't have the car and now only have electric vehicles (not what I booked). He proceeds to tell me "yeah man it looks like other employees were renting out the vehicles".. hold on? I thought it was only you there last night? So I proceed to ask him what his name is. He refuses to tell me, hangs up, and blocks the number. My experience with Hertz was completely unacceptable. We were supposed to pick up our vehicle at the Hertz office at the Marriott Hotel in San Antonio. When we arrived at the counter, thirty minutes ahead of our scheduled time, we were told that there were no vehicles available and that the best they could do was put us on a waiting list in the event a vehicle was returned. There were seven people ahead of us on that list and ultimately, we did not get a car and our trip was ruined. To the best of my knowledge, none of those other groups received a car either. Hertz clearly accepted far more reservations than they could deliver. I will never rent from this company again under any circumstances. The staff at the Hertz counter was unhelpful, unsympathetic, and completely indifferent to the whole situation. We had travelled to Texas for the eclipse and no other rentals were available anywhere. All of the money we spent on airfare and accommodations was wasted because we were unable to get around the area at all without a car and we had to return home. read more

Waiting for 2 hours only to find out there was a recall on Jan 17,2020 and January 25,2020 for seat belts and airbags. They could not sell me the car. When I arrived (4/11/2018 5PM) Daniel informed me the car I rented was not available and offered me a larger SUV or a smaller compact car. I feel the way the situation was conveyed to me was why I ended up not getting upset. His overall tone was genuinely caring. I was not in the best of moods. I had just left work and had to run several errands. Daniel was very sympathetic, sincere and professional. I really appreciated him being very considerate. Upon returning my vehicle, Waddell assisted me with the return. He noticed I had a few more questions and made it a point to give me the additional information I needed. He took the time to actually talk to me! I never felt as though I was rushed once the transaction was finished. His friendliness, attentiveness AND helpfulness speaks volumes. Tourist traps are worse than Hitler. So when I arrived in Downtown San Antonio, I reeled at the Riverwalk - a concatenation of Niagara Falls and Las Vegas' Venetian Hotel. Realizing that I'd have to dine in the walking-distance restaurants over the next five days made me shake with fear. The Riverwalk dining scene is my worst nightmare: every restaurant serves an overpriced permutation of uninspired Mexican fare, while a shrieking child in a Davy Crockett hat hacks at my calves with a rubber tomahawk from the Ripley's Believe It Or Not gift shop. I wanted out. I needed a way to get out of this Texas version of Branson and in to the pockets of San Antonio where I might be able to find a $1.50 cabeza taco made in a kitchen dirtier than a Juarez bum's crotch, or perhaps a genuine chicken fried steak that's just so gluttonously Texas that it's served with a side of Prevacid®. So my concierge pointed me toward the downtown Hertz branch, located inside the River Center Marriott, for a rental car that would significantly expand my dining options. But this lousy branch had closed at 1:00 pm. According to the Marriott front desk clerk, Hertz is only open from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturdays. What gives, Hertz? Saturday is the busiest day of the week Downtown, when simpletons wearing culottes, a visor, and an embroidered "Orlando" t-shirt pour into the Riverwalk; or, when convention-goers either staying late or arriving early want to tour your city. Yet, Hertz can't manage to scrape someone a minimum wage for more than just two hours?!?! I'd be angrier at Hertz, but I actually really like them. They're my favorite rental car company, even though they tend to be a smidge pricier than the competition. And the thing that really won me over is that they gave my husband and me a free upgrade from a VW Golf to a BMW 5 Series on our honeymoon - just because we were white people in Africa. And although my husband carved a petroglyph into the hubcap using a Cape Town curb, Hertz never came after us for it. So I like Hertz. I'll always rent from Hertz. I just won't rent in Downtown San Antonio on a Saturday afternoon. read more

They went to the wrong location and didn't bother to call me to inform me or ask what location I was at. I'm left without a vehicle now and I have no means of transportation. You also changed the sign you had posted by changing your close time on Saturday from 1:00 to 12:00 with a black pen. We ended up having to walk to Avis to rent our car. Totally unprofessional.
