I had a car reserved from State Farm. I called Hertz and they were supposed to get me a Lyft. Hertz corporate said the local office wasn't answering and they would "escalate the call" but still they never called back. So I called Hertz directly and still no answer. So I walked 15 to the location and decided to let the phone ring the entire time. When I arrived, the phone inside the office was ringing and a man "Ash" was sitting there ignoring the phone doing nothing. I asked why he wouldn't answer the phone and he became rude and aggressive towards me. Finally he went to help me get my rental and first he went to the wrong vehicle which took about 10 minutes and then he went to another vehicle. He was pretending to have problems with the app. He seemed to be intentionally prolonging the process and intentionally inconveniencing me by making me wait another 10 minutes or so. Then he walked away rudely once he gave me the keys. I will never do business with this location again. read more

I'll give it a solid 4 Because they always give me an SUV loaner versus a small passenger car when I come here from my car dealer and the deposit is always returned right away to my credit card . no games . GMC uses this vendor for service loaners . The only complaint is transaction time is Slllllooooooowww. This past time they gave me a freshly detailed vehicle but sprayed a god awful perfume in the car and it even stunk up my garage when i had to leave the windows open. We have always rented our cars from this Hertz and they have always been excellent. But we had a rental reservation for today for a 7 passenger car and they called yesterday afternoon and said they only had a 5 passenger available because people had extended their reservations. Fortunately we didn't have a trip planned that needed that many seats for passengers but we did want it for camping equipment for our trip. They said they would call around. The customer service was horrible. Farbod helped my mother and I and he seemed to hate women or our ethnicity. He kept talking down to my mother and I during our return and refused to talk to me at one point. Being a hardcore Hertz fan, it was difficult to deal with someone that was so rude to us throughout the process. Every question I asked, he referred to the 1-800 #. I let him know I spoke to Jackson on Monday and shared that he told us to speak with Yoon. He even wrote that on the contract. Farbod spoke down to us and said that Jackson doesn't work there and I must not have know who I was speaking too. Being in customer service, I'm floored at how disrespectful he was to us. I hope Hertz doesn't continue to employee someone that truly disrespects someone that isn't like him. Put a $500 hold on my debit card to rent a car for a day. I know that's a protocol with rental car companies, but never disclosed the amount. To make matters worse, it has been 4 days since we took the car back and they still haven't released the hold. They say it's the bank. The bank says it's Hertz. Bad Business (Not Happy) Needed a rental (11/3/23 - 11/10/23) for warranty work that Chevy was doing on my truck and Hertz was recommended. Went to the Simi Valley location and during the entire process, beginning to end the rate adjustment or increased premium for the SUV that I selected was never mentioned, never communicated, never provided until I received my American Express statement the following month indicating the adjusted rate amount. Been working with Nick for three (3) months to have a credit issued for the total adjustment amount and as of today, still no action taken and no closure on this matter. Although agreement from Hertz that the rate adjustment is due, not happy with the lack of overall communication, extended processing time for the credit and overall poor customer service. Hopefully things get fixed very soon, like today! Same day, late afternoon update; it's 3pm and they finally got our car back that was supposed to be in this morning at 10am. They finally called and told us so all ended well, but a very poor business model if you ask me, we should not have had to suffer because of another customers tardy behavior. Requested a full size truck for the weekend. Per the website I would receive a Ram 1500 or similar. They called a couple days before my rental period saying all they had was Nissan frontier. This was way too small for what I needed and I would not have made this reservation had I known I would be getting a midsized truck. Did not have enough time to pivot to a different rental company. We made it work, but I was not offered a discount. In addition, when I went to refuel the truck, the fuel gauge did not register the gas going into the tank. I drove around the block trying to get it to raise up. I ended up over fueling and spending more money than I wanted to. I mentioned this to the gentleman at the front desk and was told "okay sir you're all set. Have a nice day". I'm not gonna sit there and argue with him over $40-$50 but it was irritating. I rented a car from hertz last august, I received the car with less than half a tank, when the guy did the car check he said to return it the same way. Found out a week later they charged me an extra $121 for returning it with about the same amount of gas in the tank, called they said they would take care of it. I waited another 2 weeks, nothing. So I backcharged it through my bank, which gave them 30 days to reply. I won my case because they didn't reply. Went to pick up a rental last Friday only to be told I was on the "do not rent" list and when I called to ask they said I had a bill in collections that needed to be paid before I could rent again. I needed to rent a car as my vehicle was in the shop. State Farm suggested Hertz as they have a lower contracted rate that falls under my insurance policy. I called Hertz and made arrangements to be picked up at my house. A very nice man named Henry picked me up and brought me to the LA avenue location. It was a real pleasure talking to Henry during the ride. What a nice man. Service at Hertz was quick and professional. I had a Toyota Camry offered for rental and the entire process was seamless. After three to four minutes, I was in the car and on my way. This was the fourth time using Hertz at this Simi Valley location and all times were superb service. read more

I would give this Hertz zero stars if I could. I had a 9am pick up time and waited for over an hour until the car was ready. The man at the front desk was extremely rude when I asked how much longer I'd be waiting. When I returned the rental they charged me 180 for a small scratch at the back of the car. I had the option to make a claim through my insurance but they told me if I didn't make my decision before 3pm I'd be charged an additional day. The guy who finally arrived was polite but offered no apology for being late. A week earlier, I ordered a car Hertz referred to as a "large premium sedan". What I was given was a dirty, old Ford focus with 50,000 miles on it. Although the car stunk of Lysol, very little effort was made to clean the car. I was having a horrible day after my car was vandalized. I was very upset and depressed at the same time. After I dropped off my car at the auto shop, I was dropped off here to get the a car While my car was being worked on. Let me first start off by saying that the person that picked me up from hurts, as one of the most sweetest souls I have ever met. He is a retired annuitant I was working for fun. And it's reflected in his work and how much fun he has talking to the customers. Only did he make you feel welcomed, but it also made me feel better due to my situation. Sometimes you don't know how hard people are having it and all it takes is a kind individual to make it feel better. To top it off after having fun during my Car ride. I was greeted with such generosity by Matt, I think that's his name. Very tall guy with the sweetest personality. He went ahead and got me a car very fast and even gave me an upgrade. He was very sympathetic to my story and asked me how I was doing. He also went ahead and checked up on my car starters a couple days later. This place is shady af, at least it used to be a year ago. Maybe it's better if there's new management. Wouldn't be surprised if they've been reported to the Better Business Bureau multiple times. Personally witnessed several customers unhappy and complain in person, asking for their rental that was supposed to be ready (like mine) for pick up at a certain time... but they soon found it wasn't for some lame reason or another. I called ahead to ask that morning if it was okay to come pick up my rental a little early and they said sure that's fine "come on in". I arrive and it's not even there in the lot. To add onto the situation, I was then offered something else completely different than my reservation and questioned whether I really needed a large passenger vehicle. Yes, that's why I ordered one with that much space. The conversation was not really in a supportive customer service tone, but felt more like they didn't care and just wanted me to take something else to go away. They finally agreed to stop trying to talk me out of that reservation, but was told to wait a bit more because it has to show up and then get clean... unless I wanted a dirty car. Had to go back home and was told they'd call me when it was ready. Before I left I made sure that they had my cell # and of course they don't ever call me. Wait, wait, wait... I just go back here after a few hours, around the original pick up time before I called that morning, and they say, oh it's ready... it actually became available soon after I had left... then why didn't they call me??? Really messed up our vacation plans to leave early for a family trip. While in the office, one lady said she saw her vehicle ( a van) drive away when she pulled up to this office, and the staff claimed there was "something wrong with that one". He then told her she should just go get some lunch to wait for an equivalent van. Do not rent from this location and possibly not from Hertz altogether. I completed a reservation weeks ago and received a confirmation at that time as well as an email on Sunday to confirm pick-up at this location. I arrived on Tuesday to pick up my vehicle and the store was empty/closed. A sign on the door stated that this location was closed until further notice. Not closed, like I missed the service hours...closed as in not functioning right now. I called the phone number on the window and was given little to no help from Hertz corporate. I was told that this location was not listed as a closed location. That it was somehow my fault. I had to persuade the person on the phone that I was in fact in front of a store that was closed, no staff, no vehicles, and signs all over the windows indicating that thew were indeed closed until further notice. They also informed me that they would be unable to help me. They could not get me a vehicle from any other locations that day and that I would have to arrange to pick up a vehicle at a different location a different day. They then told me that the new cost of the vehicle reservation would be three times the original reservation cost. Although the people on the phone were not rude, they were not at all helpful or willing to go above and beyond to help me. Hertz.. yup it HURTS!!! Got a rental car here from my insurance, and the apparent "manager" "Kurt" was rude as hell! Didn't care to answer my questions, Just a quick here and then started talking to someone else, as we were getting in the car he literally stood at the window and watched us leave, WTH?? Creepy much?? When I returned the car, the "assistant manager" was there and he was even more rude!!! His name is "Ken". Cars are always clean and the guy who gets the cars from the lot makes sure the cars are there at time of reservation. Please give yourself time and be patient. I was greeted by Cody at the front desk. He was very nice, and accommodating. The place was not busy, as there was only one other customer so my turn came up quickly. However, all I kept thinking is how filthy the premises were. You could see into the open bathroom from the waiting / counter area, and there was trash on the floor. The floor in the waiting area needed at the very least to be vacuumed or swept. Before sitting down on the dark colored cloth covered chairs in the waiting area, I had to keep moving because all the chairs had some sort of dried liquid stain on them, almost seemed like dried sweat stains on shirts. Some of the chairs had either cat, or women hair. ( may be both), so I settled in the least dirty chair...and I'm not a neat freak. It seemed like a Frat house where people aren't checking their chores list. The car itself was new, though not washed, the interior faintly smelled of cigarettes but it was in good mechanical condition and had a full tank of gas. Lame lame lame. We reserved a 7 seater care close to two months ahead of time for a 10 am pickup. When we got there (admittedly 30 minutes early) the car was not there/ready...no problem. We waited in the office until 10 and still no car. 30 minutes later, the car finally gets there. No apology for the delay or anything done to make up for the waste of time. Then, the next day when we unfolded the 3rd row, come to find it only has 2 seats for a total of 6 seats in the car....there are 7 of us and now we are left with not enough seats. We had to double/sit for the remainder of the week and when we went to return the car and brought all this up to the employee at the desk, the only response we got was "oh dang". No sorry or gee let me see what we can do to make this right for you. Just called back today now that we are back home and not having to rush with 7 people to the airport to speak to the manager. The manager was at lunch at the time so Josh took down my name and phone number and said that his boss Nick would be back from lunch any minute and call me back in 20....3 hours later, no call. Big surprise. I called back to speak to the manager and when he gets on, he is completely clueless about the situation and I have to reexplain it all again. He proceeds to tell me that there is nothing he can do for me now that the "rental is closed" but that he can get me a really good deal on my next rental. 1)We just finished vacation so why on earth would I need another rental? 2)Why would I ever go back to that Hertz location when the service was so crappy this time?? 3)After all that, still no apology for the inconvenience, waste of time and screw up. I recently had the misfortune of being sent to Hertz Simi Valley, CA by my insurance company. I drove the car off the lot and the first time I took it onto the freeway, a piece of molding blew off the car. It literally came loose and blew off the car as I was driving. I called the agent and spoke to the store manager. Neither knew what to do and said they'd return my call. Neither did. A week later I returned the car and walked the manager through the situation. After inspecting the car he admitted- no collision, no accident, rather a piece of molding blew off the car- he'd never seen anything like it. This was not due to anything I did, I'm just the unlucky renter who happened to drive the car when this happened. He spoke to his agent privately. The agent then told me I was responsible for the damage. I asked to speak the manger and was told he left (out the backdoor). Although I had prepaid $70 for gas, the agent twice attempted to charge me for not bringing the car back with a full tank of gas. I was asked to fill out an incident report. I went over the form with the agent and expressed my concern about signing anything. He told me it was merely an acknowledgment that the incident occurred and an agreement to cooperate with an investigation. I specifically wrote on the form "I deny responsibility". Weeks later I received a call from Hertz saying I owed $706. I told the caller I disputed the charge and denied it was my fault. He responded I signed the form admitting liability. I pointed out the form did not say I admitted liability, and in fact I specifically wrote I dispute liability. His response was "I don't care what the forms says, or what you wrote, we interpret it as you admitting liability". I told him I disputed that and would get back to them. He asked if he could submit it to my insurance and I said no. A few days later I got a call from my insurance indicating Hertz had submitted the claim, despite our conversation. read more

When I called to confirm... the representative was curt, to the point of being almost rude. Then, when I showed up, he calmly told me "I have no cars." Couldn't care less. This is my fourth rental from this location, and three of the four have had issues. Eddie, though, is really great, and he truly cares about you being happy. My experience was sincerely excellent. We knew a week in advance that we would need to rent a car for 3 days so began searching for a local place. I read the reviews and was a bit put off...but decided to call and talk to them about my plan to see what the "current" situation was. My phone call was answered quickly and the gentleman was professional. He assured me my plan would not be hindered. I was simply renting a small car, nothing fancy. The Pick Up On the day of the rental I went in and there were 2 families ahead of me. The workers were buzzing around getting things settled and sorted out quickly. I overheard them trying to help accommodate a renter that had not (it seems) read the information about how to rent and what to expect. The man behind the counter was super patient with this person, the person was borderline rude and demanding. Next was a mom and her two kids waiting for a car to rent while their car was in the shop. That went quickly and no problems. My turn! Up to the window, gave the expected information and was taken out to a car. It was BETTER than what I expected and I mentioned this. The man said he would gladly put me in whatever would work. I didn't need so many fancy details, just a safe vehicle for myself. It was clean and would be fine. I accepted it after we walked around the car. He inquired about an extra layer of insurance and my husband drilled him on what that meant, we decided to take it. The Vehicle The vehicle was a Chevy Malibu. Personally I love Chevy and we had a 70s Malibu (I think) in the late 80's. The current Malibu is nice inside EXCEPT for the steering wheel. There is no way to relax and drive (I am used to Toyota steering wheels). You must have both hands on the wheel at 10 and 2. After three days of this, I had a neck and shoulder ache. Otherwise the car was EXCELLENT. BlueTooth synced up quickly, there was no smoker or perfume scent, it was clean (someone left a phone holder inside the car and I returned it the following day). The Return COMPLETELY SEAMLESS. Walked up, waited patiently in line (there were 3 people ahead of me), a zoomed in from the parking lot and asked if there were any returns (which I replied) and I was taken out to the car and inspected it with him in 1 minute then on my way. DONE. Friendly and awesome! The Bill Got my emailed bill which matched what I had expected. Overall I'd recommend you use this Hertz. My experience was actually EXCELLENT. read more
