This is a very unassuming Hertz location with a great team and a passion to help customers. I know Hertz has gotten a bad rap in the media lately but these people really care. See last week I was in an accident t and I rented through my insurance. Hertz came and picked me up, at my house and got me set up. It took a while as they were busy BUT I got to know the counter staff and both drivers. Such nice people. The first car they were assigned to give me had a bad tire and the associate spotted it right before I did. He was so apologetic and he found me another car. They could not have been nicer. Yeah... the rest of the reviews are accurate. You should really avoid this location if possible! I reserved my economy car but when I arrived I was told my car was not available and I'd have to pay $50 extra for the day for my car. I tried to argue with the woman but she would not budge and I had no other options, so I just had to accept the extra cost. After I returned the car, I called the Hertz customer care and both the automated system and the customer service agent confirmed that I should not have been charged extra since it was not my fault. The customer service rep refunded me my money and gave me some rewards points credit on my account for the inconvenience. So this means that the lady that gave me my car was just trying to pull some crap over on me and was hoping that I wouldn't call. Very terrible experience from this Hertz location. I had a reservation for an electric vehicle for a trip. When I arrived the arrogant clerk offered me a big dirty truck saying that's all they had, plus, it was at 20% charge, and would take 4-5 hours to charge. He said the people that just returned it has the return empty option. Then offered to "upgrade" me at double the price for a gas powered vehicle. it was take it or leave it. I left it. The "manager"was as arrogant as his employee and defended him when I stated he was discourteous. I feel this was bait and switch because the Hertz website shows nice electric vehicles with 260 plus miles on them, then they offer this. The fact is they don't have what they are selling. Save yourself some time and go to Enterprise!!! The staff is completely incompetent and seems to be bother by the idea of working. Not friendly nor courteous! I booked reservation using my PayPal app which advertised at 6% cash back reward for booking with Hertz so I booked it. Once I arrive and go to check in the moment the clerk sees my PayPal Cashback Mastercard he immediately says that they don't accept PayPal... I explain to him that it's not a "PayPal Card" and that it is in fact a Major Credit Card issued by PayPal which in fact affects a reward for using it at Hertz. He calls "Sabrina" over to confirm... I asked her to call the card company and ask about the fact that they're advertising 6% cashback when you book with them... she says OK and walks away with my card... she come back and says her manager says they don't accept it... I asked her to call the card company and she refused... I asked for the managers name and number and she also refused... I asked for the corporate complaint line, she also refused and told me to "look it up" Is this bait and switch? It seems so... they tried to raise the rental by 100$ because I had to use my debit card, plus a 500$ deposit and a soft credit check??? Lmao... what!?!? I booked a car with enterprise as I sat there and took my business elsewhere... I have a reservation for two weeks at the end of December and I will book that car through enterprise also... I noticed they have a big settlement to pay off... lol... so I guess they are struggling to stay alive... good luck! Also found out through the grapevine that they just lost a corporate account with Dodge... apparently they're desperate for money and tried to dump a unexplained 30k bill on there lap... wow desperation The stock has also been on a constant drop for the last year... I came in to rent a car in person on Thursday Feb 29th. The reservation was set for Friday Feb 30th - Monday March 4th. I rented a Tesla Model 3, and to be frank, I was a bit worried. Seeing past reviews, I saw how some had a poor experience in the past, and was a bit worried that I may go through similar issues. My expectations were exceeded as the process went as smoothly as it could have. Working Isis and Tom were extremely professional, kind, and straightforward. In my opinion, they must have made a big change to the location since previous reviews a few years ago. The car drove well, was clean, and everything went perfectly. 4 stars for this rental car agency that SAVED my behind. It is open 8 AM till 5 PM weekdays, & 9 AM till Noon on Saturday (closed on Sunday). A debit card can be used to reserve a vehicle & pay for service afterward providing the driver is age 25+; makes a reservation 24+ hours in advance; & can show two forms of ID. Hertz allowed me to rent a midsized vehicle even though I reside in Pasco County & required pick-up & drop-off. Staffer William retrieved me (on time) from a collision garage in Wesley Chapel to drive me to this location on Fowler Ave-- see pic. Employee Keiondria had been wonderful over the phone when I called days earlier to reserve a vehicle as well as a pickup from another county. Once I arrived @ Hertz, Manager Marcus was very friendly & professional as he walked me thru the entire reservation process & accompanied me to the rental vehicle. Staffer Derrick was also very friendly; he emerged & we discussed our related occupations. All of these Hertz representatives were friendly, efficient, & professional. The exterior of this older building, as well as its interior, is NOT fancy. (Hertz has occupied the space twelve years.) In fact, the lobby area is on the drab side & furniture is sparce. It does not appear that Hertz prioritizes this particular location. With that said, the lobby was clear & organized. Personally, I could care less about the aestetics of a building providing service & the product are satisfactory (which they were). The Buick Encore I was provided was a nice vehicle. It was ready with 1/2 tank of gas. I was handed the paperwork, & three days later allowed to leave the Buick @ the collision garage in Wesley Chapel once the repair work on my personal vehicle was completed. (I did not have to return the rental to Hertz, which saved me time.) Why not 5 stars? I was hoping to leave five; however, hopefully next time I'll be able to. There were three issues that negatively affected this review. (1) The rented vehicle's exterior had not been cleaned; there were love bugs covering the front grill area. (2) The interior had a smoke smell-- not a horrible smell, but nevertheless a slightly unpleasant one, although the interior appeared clean. (3) After three phone calls & one email, I still couldn't get a copy of my final invoice (to submit to my insurance company). Thankfully, Hertz's national website allows past customers to conduct a receipt look-up; I was quickly able to get the copy I needed. However, I had wasted unnecessary time over a handful of days attempting to get the paperwork from this Fowler Ave location, & neither staffer I had spoken w/ had even mentioned the online receipt look-up. I am grateful to have done business w/ Marcus & his team. A past experience w/ Enterprise was "criminal" & Audi charges an arm & leg not only for a rental, but an additional $50 for drop-off & pick-up. My daughter recently rented a car and returned it and they charged her 400 dollars to "wash " the outside of the car. I've rented many cars from all over and have never been charged anything like that before. Hertz is the absolute worst company to rent from. read more

Please pick a different Hertz, the management is ineffective and the employees and cars are mismanaged and lack accountability due to this. I had made a reservation for a car one month before the date I needed it. I went to pick up the car, at the exact time I had stated on the reservation, only to be told they didn't have a vehicle for me to rent. The employees and manager then left promptly at closing, leaving me stranded without a way home. They never offered a solution to their error or offered to arrange a courtesy car to take me home. Don't use this location if you don't have to. I was in an accident and the insurance company for the other person booked through Hertz. Terrible experience. My husband travels all the time and no longer uses them. First, I needed to be picked up from the body shop. I called ahead as instructed. I was picked up 25 minutes late. The guy blamed it on the phones not working. LIES! I ended up late for work. Second, I have never had to rent a car before this. The guy went over the coverage with me. I called my husband...in front of the same employee. My husband said don't get any of it. I got the roadside assistance anyway for my own piece of mind. Somehow, I end up with full coverage on the vehicle. I didn't realize until I checked to see when the rental would need to be returned. I immediately let them know I didn't want full coverage and didn't agree to it. It had been 15 days. They refused to remove the charge adamantly saying I wanted it. LIES! After some back and forth, we agreed I'd pay for 8 of the 15 days. Okay. Fine. I'll eat it for not paying closer attention. Some lessons can be costly. Third, I returned the car 2 days ago. The branch manager, Alex, has yet to settle my bill! I have called to follow up since returning the car. I'm getting the run around. So, I asked for Alex's manager contact name and number. The guy puts me on hold...only to come back to the phone with an email address (bmsmith@hertz.com). Alex the tries blaming the body shop...when I witnessed him hang up on the body shop. When I witnessed the girl call back to say they were paying. Fourth, the customer service is nonexistent and SLOW! I waited 30 minutes just to return my car and attempt to settle my bill. Run down rental location off of Fowler. It took them 20 minutes just to 'get my price back'. I paid a small fee to upgrade to a 'nicer' car. The agent said he would go check the car, came back in, and said he was going to give it a quick clean. That clean took another 20 minutes. Came to find out he was really just spraying the inside of the car so we wouldn't smell the smoke (which we did the next day after the air freshener wore off). He told me the car at 2/8 of a tank. Fine, that sucks, but whatever. I finally go to leave, back out, and notice the tank is less than 1/8 full! Back inside I go. The car itself (Dodge Charger) was nice minus the smoke smell we hid by purchasing an air freshener. Took 20 minutes when dropping the car off. Not really sure what he was doing on the computer but it took forever. I made sure to tell them about the 'hidden' smoke smell. Hall in the wall dump with high mileage cars. Mine had 34000 with stains on seats and transmission seemed iffy at best... Online says 6pm and yet they close at 530. Explained and customer service was horrible. I'll go out of my way to go to another location and you should too!! Never again. The worst place you can go to rent a car. It took me three days of calling and I even had to show up at the hertz, just to get an email of my receipt.. very unprofessional. All they want is your money and to get as much of it out of you as they can. I rented a car for about a week that was all supposed to be covered by someone else's insurance and even when I made them aware, they still used loopholes to take almost $200 out of my account. I'm an 18 yer old kid and they saw that and decided to try and take advantage of it, what a joke. Now I had to go through almost a week process just to get it back and not even through them, I have to get reimbursed through the insurance, I called upwards of 8-10 times through the week and only about half of the times did the place actually answered call. Where do I begin? They were suppose to have a car ready for me at Toyota of Tampa Bay when I dropped my car off at the body shop. Nope, had to go to there location on Fowler. Took an hour and half to get a car that was damaged and dirty. The Hertz's agent also filled out the customer portion of the pre inspection report saying I received my car in under 10 minutes. After returning my vehicle two days later, Hertz rented out my car to another customer but then called me the following week accusing me of still having the car and threatening to charge me. Toyota of Tampa Bay had to straighten them out. Also their 2017 Kia leaked oil all over my garage floor. Hertz Corporate won't take my complaint because the local agent won't close out my ticket. Rented a car here between 3/29 - 4/2. Service was extremely slow, only 1 person working inside with a line of people waiting. Upon pick up, car had not been cleaned yet, adding additional 20 minutes to our wait. Inside the location is extremely dirty as well with what seemed to be half the leaves from the tree outside strewn across the carpet. I'd like to start by saying that I didn't come here to rent a car, my car was kept in the shop so I was driven here by a hertz member to get a car. They have some nice people working here. Friendly faces and easy-ish to talk to. I got a new person, they made some mistakes but its understandable because they were new. What wasn't cool however was the condition of my car. Nothing near what a rental car should be like when you get it. We had a walk around together and I made it a point to point out all the scratches and skiff marks on the car because I was worried it would somehow turn on me! Doing this was not made easy because of how dirty the car was. It looked like they sprayed down the car with water, and just left it like that. All the water dried leaving tons of water marking, streaks, and greasy areas. I wasn't impressed with the condition of the car but I drove off in it anyways. Later in the day when I had to drive some people, they found some randoms persons stuff in the back seat of the car. Pants and a shirt! WTF!! The car must have not even been check before they gave it to me. Finding that stuff just felt weird. I have rented a good number of cars and been to a number of rental places. If I could give zero stars, I would. Jeryl or Jerry or Jerr...something (he wouldn't correct his name as he mumbled it 3X even when I asked) was the definition of "rude". Hertz rents cars. So a customer calling in w/ car rental questions is what makes their business buzz, right? WRONG. This "Jerr" person couldn't speak clearly and couldn't answer a question without seeming incredibly put out. I kept asking the same question over and over, it was a simple question and he couldn't answer, so I said, "nothing like amazing customer service". and so Jerr-Someing HUNG UP. His boss must be super-pumped to have Jerr-Something repping his business. I am writing this review mainly for the management, in case they bother to read reviews. This location is very shady. Your best way to get a deal is to book online using one of 1000 promotional codes that can be found through your employer website. There previous manager was fired for stealing. What does that tell you. Also make sure you read your contract and ask about why there are added upgrade sales to your receipt or included insurance on your rental. If you have anything included in your rental price it means you could have rented the vehicle cheaper. It's a misleading sales tactic employees use to push there sales matrix to boost personal bonuses. read more

Crappy office but location was convenient for me. Poor selection of low quality cars that were dirty inside and out. First one smelled of the disinfectant used in Calcutta whorehouses. They don't make proper reservations and run out of cars despite that I made a reservation 4 days in advance. The people who work here are rude and unprofessional and used curse words in front of customers. They treat customers like trash. She was rude, uninformed, and incompetent. You know the term first impressions? Well mine were not good. I made reservations a week ago to be picked up. The reservation showed the location would send me an e-mail to confirm. A day before the pick-up, still no confirmation e-mail. I called and they advised I was to call them and let them know. The gal said to call 30 minutes ahead of time the day of. I called 45 minutes ahead of time the day of pick up and rental. The rep asked for my address and said allow 15 to 20 minutes. Thirty minutes passed and nothing. I called back and no record of me calling. I had to give my address again because this rep said nobody is there and she will have to come get me. So here I sit an hour after the original call. Guess who won't be using this location on E. Fowler again? I'm back. Two hours later. Where do I begin. So the guy comes to pick me up 15 minutes later than what should have been. And after the lady on the phone told me they had not record of me calling to request the pick-up, the guy apologizes, lies and blames the late pick-up on traffic. I get there and they give me a smaller car from what I reserved and paid for. I get home and realize that this car will not have enough room for me to put the items I have in the trunk or the back seat. I call their customer service line. They tell me I have to go and exchange because the location on Fowler Ave. in Tampa does have keep those type cars I reserved on location. The place I need to go is to the airport for an exchange. I'm waiting on hold for the rep to call the airport location to make sure they have the vehicle size I reserved and paid for so that I don't get there and they don't have it. We then get disconnected. She calls me back and tells me they have the car size I reserved. So now I have to be inconvenienced and drive almost 30 minutes away to get the car size I originally reserved. Never will do business with the Hertz location on Fowler again. read more

I have never wrote a negative review in my life but I am extremely unhappy with the service I received from hertz and I don't want anyone to go threw what I did . I got into a single car accident ( my vehicle hydroplaned in the rain and hit a telephone pole ) . I was taken to hurts from my body shop. When I came in I talked to the employee gave him my claim number and was told I would be charged a $30 deposit on my debit card and the rest would be billed to my car insurance .AFTER 10 DAYS the hertz staff called me to tell me this had turned into a customer pay .they said they had no way of knowing until that day and they where calling me as a courtesy. After multiple phone calls to hertz staff was unwilling to help me resolve my issue and did not seem to care that their employee mislead me . they said its not there job to know if insurance will pay for it and that they cant see that information . I told them if they where unsure or could not tell then the staff member should have told me that upfront instead misleading me and acting like he could see it on the screen and saying otherwise.If I would have known it was a self pay up front I would not have taken the car in the first place . Not to mention waiting 10 days to inform the customer can create a financial burden. when I returned the car I sat at the same desk with the employee who I got the car from . at this time I could tell he was new because he did not know how to do a return and had to have other staff assist him through the whole process . I had explained my situation (again) to them both and requested to be paper billed for the additional charges since I was not expecting to be billed after what staff had told me and I could not afford the full amount out of pocked. the staff member said they would mail me a bill and then two days later charged my bank account for amounts I never authorized ! Deposit of $50 held on my card I paid the car place for the rental now today the 50 fell off but then they charged my account $25 for the rental which was paid at The Car Shop.
