At 6:30 this evening I got a call that Enterprise doesn't have the 15 passenger van I booked for this weekend over 2 months ago. To call after hours and leave me no solution to why I am being told so late the evening before I am set to pick up the van is the worst customer service. I now have to scramble at 8am when car rentals open in hopes of being able to find a van last minute. Would have been nice to be given a heads up or offered some sort of solution. The staff here really does do everything they can to make your experience a good one. I unfortunately have had to come here twice this year for someone hitting my parked car and not leaving their info, (so going through my insurance company), and both times they have done everything they can to get me into a comparable car while i've had to wait on my car to be fixed. Both cars were clean, I felt they really did try to make it as easy as possible. This last time they didn't have an Audi available on me and drove one up from SD for me, which I appreciated so much. The staff was nice and I guess I was lucky because I was helped at the counter right away on a Friday morning. The whole process from check in to leaving with the rental was about 15 minutes. The rental was clean and did not have an odor to it. I was happy with my rental until the tire pressure light came on the very next day. Turns out they rented me a car with low tire pressure and I had to take it in to another Enterprise to get it fixed. Beware ! The staff will try to manipulate and upsell you to buy the optional dw/cdw insurance which is a DAILY charge. I was sent to this location through my insurance company after my vehicle burned and was a total loss ( no fault of mine). I was tired after work and a little traumatized from the car fire when I went to enterprise to get my rental and the guy still manipulated me into purchasing something I didn't need even after he knew about what happened. My vehicle is under a manufacturer recall which means I'm gonna be in a loaner for over a year I arrived at the dealership to pick up my enterprise rental first surprise enterprise wasn't there yet even though I'd called a half hour earlier to tell them I was in route when the delivery person brought the vehicle. I noticed several things. First, I noticed the vehicles maintenance required light was on. I inquired in the person told me oh yeah you got about 500 miles before you have to do the service I looked at him and said why should I have to take it in for service? Why didn't you do that before delivering the car oh well you got 500 miles is what he said next I commented that this was gonna be a year long loaner. Why do I only have 3/4 of a tank would not have been easier for me just to return it for as I looked over the vehicle I noticed footprints on the backseats food, crumbs, pens, and other items scattered throughout the vehicle when I commented don't you clean the vehicles? yes we do if you'd like I can take it back and have them redo it again wasting my time so from the start I was not impressed. I took the vehicle got gas and took it to Pep Boys for their oil change I had to wait about a half hour for Pep Boys to get approval from enterprise to do the oil change and then I had to wait two hours for them to actually do the oil change. Lots of inconveniences already had the car a few weeks and I began to notice the smell. I did a little detective work and found the cabin air filter had never been changed. It was disgusting. Also, the vehicle transmission felt like it was slipping so I called my dealer and told him I needed to return the car. I did that today a few minutes ago I get a call from enterprise customer service wanting to know how my experience was. They wanted to make sure it was excellent of course I laughed. I told him all the above his response. Oh, we would never deliver a vehicle with the check engine light on or need service well, I've got photos and the manager at the dealership aware because I showed her before I took the car. He then asked me what he could do to make it right I asked what he was offering. how about a discount on your next rental? I've already told him I don't rent cars that I'm only in a loaner because mine's out of service due to the recall, he kept offering me a discount on a loaner lousy customer service They knew this was a dealer loaner that it was gonna be out for a year which meant they were gonna make about $20,000 why they couldn't deliver it with a full tank of gas. I rent with Enterprise, usually Encinitas location or near airports. Over the years I have used their vehicles for short trips, extended vacation travel & twice when my car was damaged. Even my employer uses Enterprise so I often travel for business with their contract. I have been happy every time. The one time that I had a problem with a car my issue was immediately resolved. My "con" is that the company hours are very bad for Saturday and Sunday rentals and returns. I realize that it's a corporate problem and not due to the employees. The Encinitas location manager Jesse Prowell is personable and efficient, as are his staff. I so appreciate being greeted personally. Whether the staff actually know or recall me, it proves that they look up my reservation BEFORE I arrive. That's good old fashioned customer service. She reassured me that she would check in with the Carlsbad location and call me back within 10 minutes to update on the situation. However, as I write this, it's already 8 PM, and I've yet to hear from her, leaving me somewhat disappointed. Despite the earlier great service, this lack of follow-through leaves room for improvement. My experience with Enterprise Car Rental in Carlsbad was unfortunately less than satisfactory. Due to an insurance request, I was to pick up my rental from this location after an initial reservation had been set at their Encinitas branch. The lack of efficient customer service and the lengthy wait time left me with a negative impression of the Carlsbad branch. In summary, my experience at Enterprise Car Rental in Carlsbad was marred by poor communication, lack of staff coordination, and prolonged waiting times. This contrasts sharply with the proactive and helpful service I received from Brittany at the Encinitas branch. We rented a van for a family vacation. Upon arriving to pick up the van they said they didn't have a van available and could not find our reservation in their system. I showed them the reservation and confirmation # on the email I received. They said that it didn't make a difference as they did not have it. So apparently it was my fault that I had the reservation and they did not. I asked them since they did not have a van that we had a reservation for could they honor that price for an suv. Like I said we were going on a family vacation and needed something big enough for all of stuff. They would not honor it and tried to charge me $300 more for an suv. So they did not have the van we reserved, then "lost" the reservation and then tried to charge more because of their issues. The manager was neither helpful nor considerate of the situation they created. I tried to get in touch with the regional manager and was told I would get a callback but never heard anything. My Mercedes was at the dealership being fixed, I went to enterprise to get a rental as they are immediately next door. I am "greeted" by a rushed associate who asks what I need with an air of irritation. I tell them I need a rental. He asks if I have a reservation. I say no. The annoyance in the reps demeanor increases. He says "well usually people make a reservation before they come in so...." Ok? Well I'm here now. And god forbid a person doesn't know the "standard operating procedure" for a car rental business that you only need a couple times in your life. He informs me that there is a wait list of 4 people ahead of me and that they have no cars to give. He says they can call me when they have a car, but it will be whatever car happens to come in. Being a mercedes owner, I feel as though I would appreciate having a few options so I could pick hopefully the most luxurious option. I call around to 3 more local enterprises that pop up on maps on my iphone and, ALL of them are out of cars. Completely. We are in the slow season of southern ca. To have several of them be absolutely out of cars is pathetic. You have one job. Its to make sure I am able to spend my money there when I need a rental, wether I have a weeks notice or not. I am only posting this review because it is 4 days later, and I haven't back from anyone about anything and now my mercedes is almost ready to pick up and I have spent 300$ in less than a week on ubers. I did schedule an appointment over a week ago...and yet, here I am still waiting on my car. Just found out, that the car they have for me is out getting gas. I always rent from Enterprise when taking road trips. The online reservations have always been easy. The actual pick up and drop off is hit or miss. Most staff try their best to facilitate a smooth experience, but they are either short staffed or don't throttle pick-up and drop offs, because that is the most difficult part of the process. It went down constantly I had to call enterprise to notify what happened I looked at the tires apart from the fact that they were not clean, very thin they changed me to another car due to enter price decision the second car was a Malibu I had it for another week it is my first experience renting cars and the truth is scary, when I drove the car 65 miles on the freeway the stability of the car was not correct, it swayed, the tires looked very worn. They are large car rental companies and my suggestion is to align the tires and check the 100% safety in the car in reference to the tires, it is very dangerous to drive with these faults, in reference to the perfect customer service I give it my five stars but there is a VERY BIG detail there is no staff who speaks Spanish, I don't know if the reason Maybe we Mexicans don't usually rent cars but no one really spoke Spanish in this office, I had to communicate with them by phone with a translator and I signed papers in English without knowing what it actually said, that's my review.​ read more
