I ordered number 2 to pair with my (incredible) FRENCH ONION SOUP If you have that on your menu I have to try it but this was truly exceptional ! Following that I had the New York Strip. Medium rare. GREAT but I did ask for a side of Green Chile. And Garlic Aioli for the potatoes Nicely cooked but I added some salt and chile to make it pop my taste buds. YES. This wine bar was just ok. When visiting Santa Fe in the summertime, we stopped in for some quick bites and a bit of wine tasting. The wine was not cold. We ordered flights of white and none of them were cold enough. I understand if they had been reds, but on a hot summer day, one just craves a cold glass of wine and/or bubbly. Once we were done tasting our wines and the food arrived, we had to ask a couple of times/people to remove the large glasses and apparatus they rested in from our table since there wasn't room for everything. The hummus and pita with hot honey and feta was pretty good, and our son loved his pasta dish from the kids menu, but that was the extent of the magic here. The paninis the rest of our party ordered were again, just ok. When I went to the restroom I was appalled. There was some really gross stuff sticking to the wall next to the toilet; I couldn't tell if it was barf or poop, but it really turned me off. Good thing we were already on our way out. The atmosphere is kind of a New Orleans vibe with a high ceiling and covered terrace upstairs with plants that you can see from the downstairs area. That was nice. The day before when I was walking around the Plaza, they had a big carafe of fruit-infused ice water outside the restaurant with plastic cups for people to help themselves to, and it was super refreshing. We were in Santa Fe for the holidays. It was a beautiful place to be for the holidays. We were downtown one one day when we had a hour to kill. We were walking by Hervé at the time, it felt meant to be. We had been here before a few years back. I remembered they had some solid reds before. We walked into their festive dining area and grabbed a couple spots at the bar. They had plenty of options. We weren't totally sure so the kind bartender let us a try a couple. I'm happy to say they still have some good reds. I've always thought that Lescombes were one of the best New Mexican wines, and they had those. We got their Hervé board as well to nibble on, which was a great assortment of meat cheeses and more. From the bites to the wines to the service, it's one of the best spots to kill an hour downtown. read more

Definitely a must do if you're in Santa Fe! Les Combes winery is the largest winery in New Mexico. Their wines are incredible. Honorable mention to the limited release Cabernet Sauvignon, Cab Franc, and the Malbec. Every wine I had was exceptional and the atmosphere was cool, comfortable, with all of the best tunes. Angel made the experience as memorable as it was. He was so helpful, sweet, and knowledgeable. He is such an asset to this place. Warm and welcoming place to tastes some wines. The Lescombes wine is the largest wine maker in New Mexico. We were seated in a nice comfy chairs and allowed or dog to sit next to us. We were offered a tasting of their Heritage Cab which was just outstanding. We both ordered a flight which included 3 different wines. The Heritage flight includes a white, rose and red. Highly recommend since each had a unique taste and temp. We took a couple bottles of the red home. Food plates were small but very healthy. We ordered the hummus and lavender infused feta plate. Comes with pita bread and a couple cucumbers to dip. Couldn't decided which I liked more, the hummus or the whipped feta. Doesn't appear they sell outside their stores but have an online store where they ship to your door or join their club for monthly deliveries. read more

He was knowledgeable, thoughtful, and articulate giving us plenty of time to decide while explaining the flavors and "why" behind each wine. Herve Wine Bar was a beautiful experience from the entrance to the open, bright area where you can enjoy a meal or one of their cocktails or wines at a table or a more relaxed couch/chair set up. We started with a Moscow Mule and an Old Fashioned along with a really lovely soup of the day (Roasted Red Pepper with Gouda) and a House Salad with Pecan Vinaigrette. All of that was well-made and extremely tasty! The soup was so good there was a momentary thought of licking the bowl (didn't do that of course ;). For the entree we chose the Southwestern Meatloaf (tasty and flavorful, asparagus was delicious as well) and the Chicken Burrata on jasmine rice (well cooked, flavorful, but the cold burrata just threw it off a bit against the other ingredients). Still good but maybe not quite as cold on the Burrata would be recommended. For dessert we had the Chocolate Torte which was very good as well. We went into Herve for an appetizer and glass of wine, and were immediately greeted with a sample of a pinot noir. This was a great way to arrive at a restaurant! My husband and I both ordered a flight of wine, and shared the pesto meatballs. The appetizer was delicious and most of the wine in our flights were really enjoyable, except for one that was a little sweet. The building itself was really cool. It was like going down a Harry Potter alley and thinking that was it, but then finding this huge, amazing restaurant at the end. The tables are in a courtyard-type room, and there are levels above that also have tables (although none were in use when we were there.) It is definitely worth stopping by! read more

I made a birthday dinner reservation four days ahead time due to it being a busy holiday weekend, receiving confirmation at time of booking as well as a reminder/request to confirm text 24 hours prior to the reservation (which I confirmed). Seven hours prior to the reservation they reached out to tell me that my reservation has been canceled due to there being a private event happening at the restaurant that evening. They did offered to change the reservations to a different night, but that was not helpful at all given the reservations were made specifically to celebrate a big birthday on that day. The fact that they couldn't have let us know at least a few days before our reservation on a busy holiday weekend came across unprofessional and it seems to defeat the purpose of taking reservations in the first place. Given it was a holiday weekend there were almost no other openings at near-by restaurants. If you make a reservation here, be sure to call ahead and make sure they'll actually honor it. We had a glass of wine & a hefeweizen beer on tap that was also SO TASTY! The interior, we decided, felt like we were in an OLD establishment on Bourbon Street in New Orleans. SPACIOUS & light-filled. There is a walkway with tables around the upper part of the atrium, so you're closer to the sky -- and many cushy couches to sit on downstairs. We'll DEFINITELY be back! I was literally looking up other restaurants to go to. We had the Herve board and it is enough for two people. We were going to order the french onion soup and cobb salad but were at the happy tummy point. We are going back tomorrow to try them. First of all, it was bright. At 830pm it was super bright, so if you're looking for a chill wine bar style ambiance, this ain't it. It had potential, the space is actually pretty cool--cavernous inside and overall appointed well but why so damn bright? Service was fine, although the server was somehow convinced the wagyu burger wasn't all beef. In any case, we ordered the beet salad and a burger and the food was... mid. They looked like the safest things to order on the menu, which contained a bunch of things that didn't look like they overreached in their ambition but still looked like they might contain some landmines. While I did get an initial response that they'd follow-up, after trying 3 times with no response it's time to post the email | sent, which serves as my review: Greetings! We have enjoyed so many lovely pre-Lensic dinners at Herve and lunches here at Lescombs in Albuquerque (including my last 2 birthdays) that I didn't want to post a review, but just reach out and tell you about our disappointing meal tonight. I think part of it was that we saw our food sitting for at least 5 minutes before it was picked up, but it was just off from its usual deliciousness. It was weird because my onion soup was piping hot while the meatballs were room temperature and my husband's buratta chicken literally cold. I was thinking maybe because of the butatta it was meant to be served cold, but even the rice was cold. And my meatballs were so tough I couldn't cut them with my fork - I had to use a knife! I know we could have sent those 2 dishes back, but they were edible and we had a show to catch. I just feel sad that what's been our go-to Santa Fe spot was just off tonight. The dessert seemed to prove the point - while the tart was good, one of the strawberry's on the plate had a little old/mushy spot which confirmed that there wasn't the usually attention to quality on the dishes going out. Great indoor spot that gives you a feeling of being in a garden sipping your favorite wine. We tried a custom flight and were impressed by the selections. We ordered the beet salad and grilled salmon- all very tasty and fresh with decent portions. So when we ordered our wine we made sure we placed our food order because we could see the wait coming. Glad we did... received the wine after a long wait, then we waited probably half an hour for our meal.
