I wish I could give this place zero stars. I went in to buy a rat and the lady behind the desk didn't come help me despite me being there for several minutes and being the only customer in the whole place. I decided to grab a rat myself and immediately someone decides to come along and tell me I have to leave. Not a "please don't touch the rats" or a "take notice of our (one) do not touch sign" she asked me to leave. I then asked her why the rats went from around $1.50 to $3.99 in one day and she lied to me about their prices raising when they buy them from a breeder even though I can clearly see the giant room behind me full of adult rats nursing their babies. She told me that I was "the kind of customer (they) don't wanna keep" followed my a long sarcastic "byyyyyyeeeee". Called to ask if they rented out Hay or Straw Bales. The girl on the phone acted as she didn't understand what I was talking about and almost made me feel dumb. My question was a simple yes or no. The girl didn't seem to know much. But I said thank you very much anyways and she just hung up the phone on me. I want to say she was rude. Maybe get better staff, based on reviews? For sure going to keep using hesperia feed bin from here on out! So I buy my dog food normally from tractor supply. Not many places carry it which makes it even harder to find. Lately every place I called either only had a 6 lb small bag or none what so ever. So the manufacturers website showed hesperia feed bin as a vendor. I called them up first thing Monday morning and the lady let me know it wasn't a normal stock but could be ordered for me and they could have it next day (I guess stock order is done on Monday's). I asked to have some ordered either medium or large bags I didn't care at this point. Call Tuesday and it's in! Employees were super friendly and the place is way bigger than I thought. I've been coming to the Hesperia feed bin for a few years now. Every time I go there Sam is always willing to help and knowledgeable. Kelli is relatively new there but is eager to assist. I believe I get the best bang for my buck and order Strongpoint Blue for my shepherd. It is high in protein and he loves it. His coat is shiny and he seems to be super healthy. There's no way I would ever get big box store dog food or grocery store dog food for my pet after using Strongpoint Blue. After paying for my bags of dog food there's always help from the staff out in the back to load it for you. I have also purchased several "DOG" toys and he loves them. However, He must think he's a horse with teeth or something. He favors the larger horse toy, Jolly Ball. they are great and last longer than the toys design for dogs. Keep up the great work. Oh my gosh!!!! This business is AMAZING!!! Coming all the way from Lake Arrowhead, knowing they close at 6, I looked at Waze and saw it would be a very close call. I called first, spoke with the manager Nancy, and she said they would stay open for me and to just call as I got close if I was going to be later than 6 and someone would come out and open the gate. I arrived at 6:06 and she was waiting to let me in! So thankful because I have a new puppy, which needs shots immediately, and my work schedule wouldn't allow me to take care of this for the rest of the week. I had to go to three different feed stores to find what I was looking for and finally found it at Hesperia Feed Bin! (And at a good price!) The feed store I had been to just prior to Hesperia Feed Bin told me what I was looking for wasn't available. Ugh. I really appreciate the help. I'll also add that as were leaving another family came in needing assistance with another issue that the woman behind the counter could not help with. Bought my niece a cute pair of moccasins from the feed bin for Christmas (I also buy my pet supply here too) they didn't fit her and wanted to exchange them for a different size or store credit but the feed bin refused to do either due to no receipt. I normally don't need to do returns with my purchases but if I do and happen to lose a receipt you can show ID, and have it completed that way or store credit which is fine too. This store is ok. I buy my feed and other numerous supply's from them probably only because they are close and sell the brand of feed I like. The employees are nice sometimes other times not so much. The feeder rats always have lice which is disgusting! As well as the rat food is always infested with bugs which is even more disgusting. The chicken feed is usually infested with weevils so we switched to kracketts which the weevils don't seem to like as much. If you are like us and have food storage weevils can destroy a lot of work and time so we do not tolerate them at all. And really if you bought buggy food from the grocery store would you just keep it? No it would get returned and the store would be lucky not to get sued! They have a ton of supplies that I need but I never get the help I need when I'm here. I prefer to buy my feed from other feed stores in the area that make me feel like I am bothering them by asking a question. Today I came in and asked if they had cow hay. The girl at the counter said you can go out and see. Well the entire store was empty and my husband and I were the only people shopping. There were two girls working so I figured they could call the guys outside and ask since my husband and I were looking to buy more items from their store. She honestly wasn't going to check and then told me no they were out. I knew they had some because I had just got some and wanted a few more bales. Even tried to make friendly conversation with her, but she just couldn't be torn away from the post. I give up. I have tried for one week to purchase some aviary cloth (3/4" chicken wire material). I need LOTS of it to enclose a large garden and protect from squirrels and birds. Upon making two separate 30 mile trips from Pinon Hills I came back empty handed. Deciding to do my shopping by phone, I began calling. First I was told to ask for Walt. He was not in and they wondered why I would be asking for him in the first place. Well, er, I was TOLD to ask for him. Now, having picked up a business card from the front counter on my second visit, I decided to try asking for the owner Dave Weber. Well after three continuous days of calling for him being told he would be in at 8 a.m. the following day, I give up. He is apparently never in. I even left a message asking him to return my call - - - no return call. I'm sure there are alternative sources for my needs and save me lots of gas and time. They lost a customer before they even realized they had one. This is no way to operate a business and no sympathy from the desk or person on the phone. They are unaware of the product even though a smaller sample was in stock on their shelf next to the front door. read more

I've been coming here for the past 6 months or so (approximately twice a month). At first they were great, maybe because I just go in, get what I need and leave. I never required assistance from an employee other than just checking out. Lately, within the past 3 months, I have experienced all kinds of things that make me dislike doing business with this company. I have unfortunately had to deal with very rude employees. Younger women that stay on their phones at the front desks, don't speak unless THEY are spoken to, and very rude and argumentative on the phone, making up "rules" and "policies" as the days go by. I have showed up twice within the last 10 minutes to closing and the gate was closed, but the lights are still on. BUT today was the last straw. I called 3 times back to back at 5:40pm, drive up at 5:52pm, sit there at the gate, waiting to see someone to let me in (because it's not 6pm). Finally I see a man get out of a white car (inside the gate), then notice the lights start turning off inside the store. I ask, "Excuse me, don't you close at 6pm?". He replies yes. I said, "Can you please let me in?", he ignores me. I ask again. He then pulls out his phone, holds it up and says, "It's 6 o'clock, we're closed now.", then puts his phone away. This has to be the best feed store in the valley. The cashiers and the yardmen are friendly, knowledgeable, really hard-working, and they go far out of their way to help customers. One of the only places to get feeder rodents and insects and supplies for all kinds of reptiles. Way cheaper than anywhere else. Amazing hay and grass - orchard, bermuda, alfalfa, 3-way, bermuda-alfalfa, orchard-alfalfa, even straw - and they deliver daily. We get food and snacks and toys for our dogs and chickens. (Well, no toys for the poultry!) We really don't get all the negative reviews - maybe people have an axe to grind for some reason - because we've never had anything but great customer service, huge selection and good prices. read more

I have been going to the Hesperia Feed bin for years. Last week I visited the store. When I walked in the door. The girl behind the counter didn't say Hello she was too busy on her phone. That was the second time I went in there and the employees never said one word except the bill total. That is not how you run an establishment. Anyhow now all they have is pretty much horse products. It's almost like a horse gift shop. Well before I went to the counter the girl was off her phone talking with another worker. She continued her conversation while I was making a purchase from them. She was talking about riding horses and dirt bikers. My experience helped me to decide I do not want to give this business any money. Bad shop owner, I know purchase the needed products off the internet for much cheaper.
