I don't usually leave reviews, but this place was honestly disturbing. The moment I walked in, I was hit with a strong, unpleasant smell that made it clear the shop wasn't being properly cleaned. The cages were overcrowded, with birds packed tightly together, many of them looking visibly unwell--ruffled feathers, lethargic behavior, and some barely moving at all. It was heartbreaking to see. Even worse, there seemed to be little to no organization or care. Animals were roaming around freely in areas where they clearly shouldn't have been, creating a chaotic and stressful environment for both the animals and customers. It didn't feel safe or sanitary at all. The overall condition of the shop gave the impression that animal welfare was not a priority. No animal deserves to be kept in those conditions. I strongly urge others to avoid this place and hope the appropriate authorities take a closer look. read more

This place sucks! Whoever the blond lady in stripe is, she's very rude! We wanted to buy a couple birds and all the accessories that comes with caring for them. We walked in and we were so excited to see all the animals, so we started taking pictures and videos. This blonde lady in stripes comes up to us very aggressively and told us quite loud NOT TO TAKE PICTURES and if we do we have to pay $15 "donation" to help take care of the animals because they're so expensive to take care of. Damn, lady, not even a "Hi, how are you?" She went straight to, "No Pictures! Or PAY!" Girl, you just lost $500 worth of business today, plus more. There was no reason to be that aggressively rude, we literally just walked in. What is your deal? Do you want any business at all? You'll lose too many loyal customers the way you approach people. Next time, calm yourself, and come up in a much gentler, friendlier manner. We have no problem honoring your $15 donation, but no need to be so rude. Also, your music on the speakers are wayyyy too loud. It's creating an atmosphere of chaos and dread inside, it's a pet shop, not a club. read more

The blond lady is very rude to the customers saw her cleaning up picking up trash thought she was gonna throw it away in the TRASH CAN instead she goes and throws it next to a parked car!!! Grows litter bug. She uses a leaf blower and instead of putting it down or shutting it off when customers arrive she blows the trash to you! I've always enjoyed coming to this place, until the last few times. I've gotten a few birds here and occasionally supplies. The last 2 times we went, we got a bird from a younger girl, both times She was so rough and aggressive in how she got the birds. Then when she clipped the last ones wings, she butchered them. Blood feathers still trying to heal. Both birds act traumatized from it all. Today, we wanted to buy another bird, but we wanted the older woman to help because she didnt jarm the forst bird we got from them. When that was expressed, the young girl started mouthing off. We decided not to even buy the cage we planned on getting. As we were leaving, we tried to explain what happened, to the older woman She got just as defensive and tried saying we complained since we got in there and asked about the price of a cockatoo, and said yeah, we can't find any less than their price. The older woman followed us outside to try and continue to argue. We just took our money elsewhere and we will from now on. read more

Alright, I feel like I have to come on here and correct some things. I've been coming to this store for a couple of years now and they are always great. Busy? Very. But it's so fun to come in and see all of the birds and other animals. As for the photo cost: This is probably because a lot of people are posting pictures saying they are not caring for the animals but they are. Or just coming in to take photos with the birds and then leaving. It's not a zoo it's a store. Are they always clean? No. Why? Because unless you're standing at the door of the cage 24/7 messes are going to happen with live animals. They are all taken care of and never once have I seen anything concerning. I had a beautiful little lovebird that had scissorbeak and they cared for her so well. Sadly I lost her. Now I have two conures and I trust them completely to help me care for them and make the best choices for them. I also have many chickens, turkey, pig, pigeons, geese.. etc. When I am having any kind of issues with them they are so helpful and knowledgeable. They are not rude they are busy. And the amount of times they have to ask people not to take pictures even though there are several large signs is a bit ridiculous. This is such a nice family I just really hate to see people talking badly about them. read more

I'm posting a review to hopefully help these people improve some things that are not good. I went in here twice to get a bird. The first time, there was a tall younger woman who was very short, and I mean short as in impatient. She seemed to be annoyed that a customer such as myself was wanting to know the price of the birds. There are no bird prices posted, so I had to ask. Her unfriendliness was immediate, and I felt unwelcome in their store. Finally, after not wanting to do business with this lady, I left the store. The store was a terrible mess, btw. There were some weird signs posted about being charged for taking any picture of the animals. Idk what that is all about. Never seen anything like that before. So, this morning, several days later, I planned on going out to purchase a bird and intended to go check all the pet stores with birds in the High Desert. Since I live in Hesperia, I decided to stop here first and give it another try, hoping that a different employee would be working there this morning, so I could avoid the previous, unhelpful one. Unfortunately, my second attempt was even worse than the first. My pathway to the birds was blocked off and the older female employee was talking to someone. Finally, I interrupted and asked if I could get by to see the birds. She responded with a clear and loud, "NO". As I headed for the exit, I believe she said something about the bird area was closed for cleaning. Probably should do that before opening. I began to wonder just how messy it was, if it was unsuitable for customers to even see. So, I proceeded on my way to the other pet shops in the area and found a bird, so this is the end of my shopping experience here. I tried twice to buy a bird here, and was unsuccessful. The store has boxes and boxes all over the place, and no prices. They don't clip the wings of any bird you purchase here. (I asked on my first visit) I wasn't planning on always clipping the wings, but just wanted them clipped once during transportation, and to help with the initial hand taming once home. But the first lady said she doesn't do that. So, imo, I would suggest first, be polite and nice to customers. Isn't that why you are in business, to have customers? Secondly, clean up stuff. Have it ready for opening. Also, don't pile up bags of dog food outside on the sidewalk in direct sunlight on a hot day. I don't believe that is proper storage for food. Finally, post prices so customers don't have to "annoy" you by asking. read more

I had bought a cockatiel ,she was the only singing one and I knew she was the one because we have a male at home and we want them to mate . Well a week goes by and the new cockatiel died super sick outta nowhere so we went back and he said "oh did she get but by a spider or eat something " NO we took very good care of her . So I said I need my money back or something so he offered to give me another bird for half . Me and my wife were hesitant since we got so attached to the bird that died,(COCO) well we decided to get the NEWEST bird (CEECEE) and WEEK AGAIN goes by and she passed away . And when we purchased the NEWWST BIRD he was acting weird and said "oh make sure you give this new bird (CEECEE) antibiotics just a little bit cause you know.. the weather " which we thought was odd . And to mention when we came in to tell him that COCO died I asked where were the birds that she was with if I could see them and he said without hesitation over here and we walked . He was scrambling around his store for 2 minutes asking his son "where's the cockatiels " and then we go in the back and he says "oh yeah I sold them and I said "really all 4 of them , and did they have any complications " he said "no the owners havnt brought them back " . Horrible place! The employee or the owner I'm not sure who she is. That works. There is extremely rude. She's tall with bleached blonde hair. I walked into the store with my five-year-old daughter and had my fiancé on FaceTime. Once I ended the call she came up to me and rudely said just so you know there's a $15 donation when taking pictures of the animals. Mind you I didn't take any pictures I was on a call. Her demeanor and body language was nasty, if I didn't have my five year-old daughter with me I would've left and not paid the fee! the way she approached me was extremely rude and disgusting. I grew up in Hesperia coming to this pet shop and I am very disappointed on how I was treated! never again will I return here and I'll definitely will make sure to let anyone I know not to come here! the short old lady is so rude and doesn't know how to run a business. The reason why they have no prices available for products and animals is because she up charges everything every time you come in. When you first walk in you feel an unwelcoming and cold energy. Their stares and smug faces pierce your back everywhere you go. She makes her kids follow you around the store to make sure you're not taking pictures. Apparently FaceTime calls count as pictures and even touching your phone means you have to pay their fee. Pretty sure they don't allow pictures because some animals are illegal to sell or stolen and they don't want any evidence of their poor animals covered in filth and dirty water. THIS PLACE SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN! My daughter was excited to buy a chameleon after hours of research we decided to go in and finally purchase. As soon as we walked through those doors you feel bad for the animals. Boxes everywhere, dead fish in the tanks and animals caged in unethical cages. If it wasn't for my daughter's interest in a chamelion, i wouldnt even buy toilet paper from this place if they sold it. The tall lady that worked there was no help when it came to information needed. The customer service was terrible as well. Do not recommend unless you wanna rescue an animal from this place. Avoid going to this pet store at all cost. Not only is it filthy but the lady working there is so absolutely rude and treated my mother very disrespectfully. When my mother arrived at the pet store, the doors were wide open, and the music was blasting. My mother walked into the establishment and asked for help, and they rudely snapped at her and told her that they weren't open. She explained that the doors being open would indicate that they were in fact open for business and asked if they carried a certain product. The young man told her that they did carry the product and asked her to come back in an hour. My mom returned an hour later, only to be greeted by a very rude woman who would not even look at her in the face and told her that she was lying about coming earlier and that they don't have the item that she was looking for. I came from out of town. Stopped by to take a look at what was inside and I wasn't disappointed. Definitely had a lot of things that surprised me. They have birds galore. And other exotic animals that are hard to come by. What stood out to me the most was their lizard collection and birds for sale. This store might not look as organized as popular chain pet stores but in the ways that count it's much, much better. The owner and employees are extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. The prices are anywhere from competitive to great. The way they treat the animals shows me that they care about them and know what they need. For example, their larger, tamer parrots are out on tree-like playgrounds which is exactly what these birds prefer and need. They don't limit stock to the average pets either. Sometimes there are pigs or chickens. They sell some foods and supplements that I couldn't find at chain stores like duck crumble without antibiotics or grit for medium parrots. read more

Walked in and was not greeted by anyone , saw that they had baby pigs and while looking at them we were yelled at by employees immediately to not be near the pens and that photos/videos are $15. The employee continued to yell at us as we were walking throughout the store , she was staring at us and saying it was for the "animals protection" but the animals look like they are poorly taken care of. The birds look in bad shape with feathers completely missing on their backs, the pigs are in a cage with chickens, roosters, and pheasants. The customer service was horrible they don't know how to treat people they are the rudest staff. Have to support small businesses. Jaqui was super helpful other staff was friendly and they answered all the equations that my husband had. We just got a cockatiel and we are trying to set up her cage. They have various options for bird pets and we were able to find some great toys for Luna. It is unfortunate how overcrowded it seems. For someone that is potentially claustrophobic, this may not be the place to stop at. There is just so much going on it can be overwhelming. This place is amazing!!!!!!!!! We went in search of a local store that sold fish and oh my am I so glad I didn't go to one of those giant corporate stores. This place is unique and interactive and the staff is very helpful. There is a policy of no pictures or petting unless you donate some money, but I'm guessing that's for non paying customers. They had reptiles, small furry rodent, birds, insects, amphibians and even farm animals!!! They have anything you might need for any type of animal. Great experience, they even helped me out to my car!!! Be forewarned, there are no public restrooms, so if you have little ones, there's a Toms fast food and a few local businesses that will allow you to use their facilities. I'd love to post a pic but we were too busy seeing all the animals and making sure our baby didn't hurt other little critters. read more

I don't like to give low ratings, but when you walk into a pet store and come out with an asthma attack and your sinuses immediately plug up that says something. I'm not aware of any animal allergies I have, so that's not what triggered it. It was the crazy amount of bird dander in the air. As soon as you walk in it hits you like a brick in the face. The store is very cluttered with trash and supplies. Some isles you can't walk down because of the clutter. They do carry a lot of supplies for all types of pets. They have a lot of birds from finches to chickens. I really don't understand why they are still in business though with that amount of dander in the air. Beware! Left a negative review a while ago. I accidentally walked into this shop thinking it was Don's pets and was immediately told not to touch anything. I said, "why am I always targeted here" to my fiance and the employee yelled at me "what did you say? Yeah, i remember your review!" And she chased me out while holding a broom. NEGATIVE 10 stars!!!! Animals are in Cages - so there is no way to maintain cleanliness with the number they have. There are TWO PiGS in RABBIT CAGES - which is totally INHUMAN. I own three Vietnamese Potbelly Pigs and have been in Animal Rescue for over 11 years. They cannot be comfortable or use the restroom without sitting in their own Urine and Feces. I didn't have my pig for no longer than a week. It's my fault as well for not getting his paperwork or other information from them. Love this place. I found it a couple days ago. I got some fish for a good price. Even a discount cause one of the fish had one eye but I loved it so it came home anyways. The stay wears a mask which is good for the times right now. They have a lot of options if you are looking for a bird. A lot of pet things that are needed.
