This is a better Jollibee. The chicken is very very crispy and juicy. I didn't order anything out of the ordinary, they have a pretty good deal for 2, $46. Not bad considering you get 2 sandwiches of your choice, 2 soups, 2 drinks, and 1 of each fries, popcorn chicken, and chicken wings. All were good, but I'd pass on the egg soup. This place is a 3.8/5. The chicken is good but it needs something, like a sauce. The sandwiches and wraps come with mayo but it needs a sauce like most other chicken places have. I gave this spot two chances; when it first opened and today. My experience and thoughts remain the same. It's overpriced chicken that's fine, but not worth what they're charging compared to other authentic Korean spots and their service is just horrible. When they first open they were more chill about just handing out the sauces and spices, but I guess overtime like every other business they start to charge for them. Today when I asked for 2 spice packs which is $0.50, I handed a $1 and the cashier goes "do you want your change".. Also, it's priced differently online and idk if that's just because of Uber. I ordered the chicken wings box at their in store kiosk and it just says it's the chicken wings box. It doesn't say anything about it being original or spicy like other Korean chicken spots and visually looks like original compared to their Nashville or squid ink one so I'm going to assume it's original but maybe I just need to ask right thinking I might be able to also do original and Nashville or the squid ink. So I asked the cashier if they could offer half and half if that's an option and she says "we don't have original we only offer spicy wings". Felt a little bit misled and almost asked for a refund because my kids don't handle spicy food well that's why I wanted original or half and half. But we were already hungry and there so just dealt with it. Even their menu above the cashiers desk just says chicken wings box, no option or selection for original or spicy and again it visually looks like it's original but if you look on delivery apps it also shows but no option. So I'm just entirely confused and curious if people have been getting what they're not paying for which is technically false advertising. She comes out with waters with no ice and I'm like wait can I get ice with it please and she goes "oh we don't have ice". THEN WHY'D YOU EVEN ASK ME IF I WANTED SOME WTF LOL she didn't even come out or say anything like our machines down or whatever are you okay with room temp water just gave us room temp water and sodas and even had the audacity to ask if I wanted some KNOWING DAMN WELL you didn't have any. Overall, service and experience was not it. This review should be 1.5 stars at most but I gave it 2 because the food was fine, just the service and one bs after another with this cashier that ruined my appetite. After 2 common experiences with this place, I won't be coming back to this establishment and I prefer Pelicana's. Hey Chicken is not the place to go if you're expecting fast food. It took 20+ min on average for us to get our food. However, my fiance and I typically order their whole fried chicken to share. We've only been here twice, but both times, we were surprised by how JUICY the chicken were. We ate the chicken while it was fresh, aka it was HOT to touch, but it tastes amazing. If you're craving good fried chicken with a good amount of meat inside, hey chicken is the place to go. The bun for the sandwich/lettuce/etc was basic, but the chicken itself is why you're there. The breading on the fried chicken was just right for me - no too thick/ not too doughy/ does not scrap my mouth. If you like spicy, don't skimp out on their powder- it's amazing. I didn't really taste the spicy on our chicken (still flavorful), so the additional powder was definitely needed. Oh - don't expect service either - it's kinda rare to catch someone by the front. I came here for their cuttlefish ink fried chicken and it was really unique. The store is inside the Main Street Cupertino plaza and has table seatings. When I walk in, the staff were in the kitchen, so I ordered using the kiosk and waited around half an hour. The box was closed when given to me, but I want the crust to be crispy so I left it open. The chicken is smaller than a regular chicken and feels a little overpriced, but the flavor is delicious. I got the spicy flavor which gives a nice spice kick and the meat was juicy. The chicken here is fried well and comes out hot (temp). It is very crispy. I got the spicy chicken sandwich but it had no spice to it at all. I saw the red from the spices but didn't taste it. Good buns not much sauce or lettuce on it. The popcorn chicken only tasted like crisp, oil, and chicken. The fries were not good and they use below average frozen fries. The sandwich costs $12 for just the sandwich. The menu price was not accurate. For the price of the items it should come with sauce and spices but they sell them separately. Overall Experience: 7.0/10 Came here multiple times before writing a review, and the experience has been Okay- Good each time. The place has taken over Pelicana Chicken and is a new Fried Chicken spot. The layout is the same, two TV's on the inside and the same bench and ordering area. They did add two self check out kiosks next to the benches but those are the only major difference in layout. The Food: We tried their Squid Ink Fried Chicken, Fries, and the Nashville Hot whole chicken. They were all juicy but the flavor for the squid ink fried chicken was a little missing. The fries also were crispy but under salted for our taste, and was not too soft on the inside. The Nashville Hot whole chicken was my favorite but it does seem like it was not super juicy on the inside. They do fry the chicken well for the crisp, but I do think it needs a little bit more flavor. Overall Experience: The chicken is good, but not amazing in my opinion. It has a nice crisp but is lacking in other areas but that may be because of an unlucky batch. We had to give this place a try after noticing the adorable chicken logo -- it really works up your appetite to devour some chicken! We ordered the Popcorn Chicken, Hey Spicy Chicken Sandwich, and Hey Fries. Popcorn Chicken (5/5): Given its relatively low price, we were not expecting the portions to be so large! The batter of each popcorn chicken piece is irresistibly fried to a gnarled, golden-brown roughness to deliver a powerful crispiness -- each bite composed a crunchy symphony in my mouth. The chicken thigh meat itself is a little questionable though -- some pieces are as pink as a Strawberry Starburst! It's seasoned well, but I'd recommend getting a sauce on the side to dip. So I get here around 8:42pm. The store closes at 9pm. So I get it, I was cutting it close to closing time. I get to the front, nothing is turned on, their tv screen, ordering kiosk is all off. There is a mop and you can smell that they just mopped the floors. I just wanted to order a popcorn chicken, the guy at the counter tells me they only have wings and thighs left and everything is sold out. So I proceed to question him if this is normal and he said he cant help that things get sold out. I told him it might not seem that because it seems like they dont want to make it. Mind you it's is a Monday night with no one in the store eating or ordering. While I was waiting a door dash order came in. I didnt back down and he finally told me he can make it. I happened to be in the area and wasn't super hungry so I ordered a nashville chicken drumstick and the spicy wings. The spicy wings came with 3 pieces while the nashville drumstick was one of the larger drumsticks that I have seen. Overall, the items were under $10 after tax, before tip. Both the drumstick and wings were crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. Pretty solid except they were lacking flavor.
