What I like about Chicken Meets Rice is that it has more than one style of chicken in that it also has fried chicken but then tbh the whole point of these kind of food is the hainan chicken so I'd recommend the steamed chicken with chicken rice instead of the other stuff on the menu. Chicken is tender and flavorful and I prefer this style of hainan chicken over the Cantonese style. This place also has other sauces (I love the spicy Singaporean sauce but it has a kick) in addition to the regular sauce. You order through the kiosk and pick up at the other end of the counter. This is located in the food court next to 99 Ranch with a big parking lot outside. Once you go in, there are a few restaurants inside. Some tables are not cleaned. Not sure if anyone clean up regularly. They have a couple kiosks in front of the restaurant for ordering. The Chicken Rice is ok. I thought it used to be better when we went to other location before. The chicken is tender, however, the chicken rice lacks chicken flavor. The chicken flavor is weak in the rice. It comes with a side salad, chicken broth and two sauces. For the chicken broth, the ginger flavor is too strong and it overpowers the chicken flavor. When you choose the sauce in the kiosk, it only shows the sauce names without any details of what's in it and how spicy each sauce is. It would have been nice if they could incorporate sauce ingredients and spice level in the kiosk menu, especially for people with allergies. The sauce we got was too spicy and the teriyaki sauce is too thick for Hainan Chicken. The traditional Hainan Chicken rice comes with a thinner seasoned soy sauce that we don't see it in the sauce list. read more

I was looking for a place to eat at on Christmas eve and went to several Asian restaurants and they were all closed during dinner time. My friend and I took a chance and drove to Chicken Meets Rice at the Ranch 99 food hall and luckily they were open. I have gone to CMR many times but the last time, I was disappointed because they changed the crispy chicken to some small pieces similar to popcorn chicken and it was not the same. You can see my previous photos and my photo from last night and you can totally see the difference. I didn't go back for several months until last night. Thank goodness they listened to their customers and the crispy chicken is back to the original recipe. My favorite sauces are the ginger scallion oil and the Singapore soy.
