    Large Teriyaki Grilled Chicken bowl
    Gene D.

Was passing by and decided to drop by here randomly? The prices seemed fair so I got a large size bowl with teriyaki and brown rice. It's decent with flavors better than I thought? It's a bummer the Boba Milk Tea machine wasn't working when I went, still worth the visit

Haven't been here in a long time, maybe 10+ years, but I happened to drive by and decided to stop in for a quick lunch. Overall, it was a solid experience. The beef was tender and had good flavor, which was definitely the highlight. The veggies could have used a bit more seasoning, but they were still decent. All in all, it's a good spot if you're looking for a quick and satisfying lunch!

My rating here is for the quality that this Yoshinoya serves within the Yoshinoya chain and compared to many other fast casual restaurants. I've been to Yoshinoyas in SoCal (where there is competition every other block) and this is store is still amongst the top Yoshi that I've been to overall. The food is meant to be Asian bento fast food, and if you go in expecting that, then there is very good bang for buck value here. Servers are all nice, and their cheap milk tea is really good for the price as well!

I was driving by and seen Yoshinoya. It's been many-many moon since I've been to one. So I stopped and when I went in, it was nostalgic. I first went to Yoshinoya in Los Angeles in my teens. It was good back then. They had one in SF that I tried too. However, they all closed down except for this one in the South Bay. Food was just edible. It wasn't bad or it wasn't great I guess my taste buds have changed a lot since my teens. Would I go back? Probably, over McDonald, Jack in the Box, Taco Bell, etc. I do plan on going back to get that Karaage though.

I was looking for a quick spot to grab lunch that isn't fast food and came across Yoshinoya. It's located at the corner of Stevens Creek and North Portal. It has a decent sized parking lot. The menu is simple, almost similar to Sarku Japan menu. They offer four sizes, bowl, large, combo and combo XL. All their sizes come with mixed veggies, your choice of protein, noodles or rice. I opted for a bowl, udon and chicken teriyaki, total $11. Sauce options were soy and ginger. The bowl was sufficient with 4 slices of teriyaki chicken. The chicken wasn't dry or overly sauced. The skin was pleasant to eat. The ginger added a palette cleanser in between bites of the udon and chicken. The udon was cooked al dente. The bowl is a perfect size for anyone watching their food servings. The bowl may look like it's meant for kids but it's fulfilling. The staff were efficient, I didn't wait too long for my food and there is a designated online pick-up order area. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There are several dining tables as well.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

3.5 rounded up. I've never had Yoshinoya before, but am a big fan of Gyudon. I've also driven past this establishment for so many years (I can't be the only one!) despite it being the only Yoshinoya location in the entire SF Bay Area. At an attempt to try new things, I stopped by for my first time and was pleasantly surprised at the value and taste. They definitely use a nice thin cut of beef that resembles gyudon, though some pieces can be more on the stringy side. They also have fried chicken (Tokyo chicken is what I think they call it) for $3.50 but had over 6 pieces, a really great deal! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Dining in can be tough because it's really hot and no AC.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Download their app for really great deals and rewards. Edit: One more thing, their milk tea boba is terrible. Like it's not even worth it if they give you one for free (which they do in the app). Save yourself from that experience and just grab milk tea boba from somewhere else in Cupertino, there are a lot better places!

Randomly had a craving for Yoshinoya after not having it in years! I got a combo with 2 proteins: chicken teriyaki and original beef gyudon. It comes with rice and vegetables. Service was efficient - my order was ready within 2 minutes! Although it's considered fast food, you can't go wrong because it's delicious, affordable (my total was $12.97 including tax), and they give huge portions (lasted me for 2 meals).

While waiting for my car to get serviced I decided that that day I would finally try Marufuku. I had heard so many good things about it. My buddy worked a half-day and offered to scoop me up from the dealership to hit Marufuku. How could I say no? We arrived and luckily were sat right away. I know MR gets packed and wait times can me long. That day Lady Luck was on our side. We started out with gyoza, because that's what you do. I ordered the Hakata Tonkatsu DX with medium spice. My buddy had the Chashu Bowl. My ramen was simply a bowl of heaven...with a little hellfire. Medium Spice is pretty spicy. But oh-so-good. I believe it's been one of the best bowls I have had in the Bay Area. I am a Ramen-phile (is that a word?) and I simply loved the bowl. So much so, I am trying to figure out when I can make my way down there. The gyoza was also very, very good. True Japanese-style, which is different from Chinese pot-stickers. I could have eaten another order without feeling guilty. My buddy enjoyed his Chashu bowl and finished it quite quickly. Service was also good--quick, efficient and polite. Very nice. In closing, it is a great ramen house and I will most definitely go back. And now for the pics.

The curry broth and the plant based meat were well seasoned and the yuzu gave the dish a nice citrus kick. I love spicy food and usually feel like ramen is not spicy enough, but this was the perfect level. Noodles were tasty and there was a good noodle to soup ratio. My friend gave the Kiwami Tonkotsu a 4/5 and said it could be a bit more flavorful. She tried some of my Kiwami Vegan and said she would order that next time instead Overall, amazing vegan ramen! Being a broth lover, I can assess the authenticity of a ramen place by tonkotsu broth. And this place really does an excellent job in delivering a savory fatty bowl of tonkotsu ramen. I also added duck breast to mine. $6 for 4 pieces of duck breast is actually no bad of a deal, especially considering the quality of the duck breast slices. They were not super thick, but got enough bite in there for you to enjoy the texture of the duck meat. It was not overdone and did not lead to a less than desired rough sandy texture. Rather, it was possibly slightly undercooked. The skin was intact and the fattiness from duck skin just brought so much joy to every bite. I savored every bit of that in silence. The parking lot isn't massive, but finding a spot isn't difficult, if my experience is anything to go by. Solo and duo diners are usually seated at normal tables, but large parties have the option of sitting in shoes-off washitsu rooms with tatami mats. The menu is very large, with specific sections condensing their vegetarian & gluten-free offerings. You get a paper menu detailing their specials, and the rest of the menu is accessed through a QR code (which I am personally not a fan of). True to its self-identification as a Japanese fusion tapas spot, the menu ranges from sashimi to soba to risotto korokke to pizza and so on. I recommend eating family-style with a group, as portion sizes are definitely tapas-sized, and trying a little bit of a lot is the best way to experience what Gochi has to offer. Though the atmosphere is great for a date night, the two-seater tables are set up very close to each other, so there won't be much privacy. Most of the dishes I found to be good, but perhaps not exceedingly impressive. The yuzu ceviche was stellar, with fresh fish and a strong citrus flavor, but the accompanying potato chips were a little thick and lacking salt. The sashimi was beautifully presented and fresh, but the pieces were a little smaller than I had expected. The risotto korokke was alright as well; the sauce was great, but the risotto inside was a little bland. Overall, I thought this to be a decently enjoyable experience. The atmosphere is great, the service is good, and the food is varied and interesting. The dishes range from being pretty affordable small dishes to a little too pricey to be worth what you get, so I'd definitely spend a little extra time perusing the menu. I will likely return to try some of the other items in the future.

We ordered a variety of dishes to share, and it was one of those meals where everyone at the table found something they loved. One dish I was surprisingly impressed by was the Ankimo (steamed monkfish liver in ponzu). I'll admit, the word liver immediately made me hesitant, and if they hadn't told me what it was, I probably would've been less nervous trying it. But I'm really glad I did because it was incredibly buttery, smooth, and rich. It almost melts in your mouth, and I honestly think it would pair perfectly with a bowl of steamed rice. We also ordered the Hiyayakko (cold tofu with ginger & scallions), which was a really refreshing starter. The tofu was silky smooth and delicate, and the ginger, scallions, and soy-based seasoning added just enough flavor without taking away from the freshness of the tofu. It was simple, but really well done. We also ordered the Salmon Mayo Yaki Onigiri. While it was good, I think this is the one dish I'd probably skip next time. The crispy grilled rice ball itself was delicious, but there just wasn't enough salmon mayo on top. It felt like I only got a tiny spoonful, so once that was gone, it was mostly just rice. Since my family couldn't decide, we ended up ordering all three clay pots: the Sake Oyako Meshi (grilled salmon & salmon roe), Unagi Meshi (BBQ freshwater eel), and Tori Soboro Meshi (braised ground chicken). Out of all of them, the Unagi Meshi was easily my favorite. The eel was tender, slightly smoky, and coated in a sweet-savory glaze that soaked into the rice underneath, making every bite incredibly satisfying. The clay pots also gave the rice a nice crispy layer on the bottom, which added even more texture. We also shared two of their signature pizzas: the Mentai Kinoko and the Nasu Curry. I wasn't expecting much since it's pizza at a Japanese restaurant, but they were honestly so good. The crust was paper-thin, crispy, and light, so it didn't leave you feeling heavy afterward. The Mentai Kinoko had a great balance of spicy cod roe, snow crab, mushrooms, bacon, and cheese, while the Nasu Curry had a rich curry flavor that paired surprisingly well with the eggplant and cheese. Both were huge hits with my family. The restaurant itself has a warm, traditional Japanese atmosphere that makes it feel cozy and inviting. The server was incredibly friendly and helpful, taking the time to explain the menu and recommend dishes when we couldn't decide what to order. Their recommendations definitely did not disappoint. My whole family left happy, and it's one of those restaurants where I already know I'll be coming back to try even more of the menu.
