I had booked this caterer in June for my baby shower in August. In the beginning, he was very responsive, accommodating, and reasonably priced, and I was happy with the decision to book him. From the outset, he represented that he, as the owner, would be the only person working the event. This was an important detail because my venue required workers' compensation insurance for events staffed by employees, and I specifically explained this requirement to him. Based on his representation that he would personally work the event, I understood that workers' compensation insurance would not be necessary. I also asked to modify the food package because, out of an abundance of caution given concerns around Cyclospora and the fact that we had pregnant and immunocompromised guests, we did not want fresh vegetables served. He was accommodating about removing the salad and appetizers containing fresh vegetables. I also reduced the headcount to the accurate number by the deadline he had provided, and he was understanding about the decrease. Unfortunately, the issues arose about a week before the event. When I followed up for a revised invoice, he had added a server. In principle, I actually thought having a server would be a good idea. The problem was that adding an employee fundamentally changed the insurance requirements for our venue. At that point, I learned that he would not be personally attending the event and that he could not obtain the required workers' compensation insurance with only a few days remaining. Despite having been booked and in communication for two months, this major change was only communicated to me shortly before the shower, and he ultimately had to cancel. While I received a refund, the refund was not really the issue. I had booked the caterer two months in advance specifically so that the event would be fully planned and there would not be last-minute surprises. Instead, I had only a few days, not even a full week, to find a completely new caterer for my baby shower. This completely derailed a meticulously planned event and created a significant amount of unnecessary stress at a time when I was trying very hard to avoid exactly that. There was also an additional issue with an event at the same venue that took place before my event. The venue had approved him for my event based on the representation that he would be the sole person working it, which was important because it meant he would not need workers' compensation insurance. I subsequently learned that, based on those same representations/approval, he catered an earlier event at the venue using employees rather than personally working the event, without the venue having the required workers' compensation documentation on file. I cannot speak to his intentions or why this occurred, but it was particularly concerning given how clearly the staffing and insurance requirements had been communicated to me from the beginning. Overall, I was disappointed because the experience started very positively. Had the staffing arrangement changed earlier, or had I been told from the beginning that employees would be working the event, I could have addressed the insurance requirements well in advance. Instead, the last-minute change left me scrambling to find replacement catering just days before my baby shower. I would strongly recommend confirming the staffing arrangement and all required insurance documentation in writing well before the event, particularly if you are working with a venue that has specific requirements. read more

Hi-Fi Pizza Pi catered my birthday party for about 20 people. I loved the food and so did my guests! Brady accommodated for both vegetarian and vegan, which was amazing. During the planning process, he was very fast to respond and also helped work with my budget. Stairs are also not a problem, as his set up is very mobile (our party was located up a very long flight of them) I added on the bartender service and Marc was fantastic. He customized drinks to people's preferences and also brought mixers, ice and cups - we just had to provide drinks! I cannot recommend Hi-Fi Pizza Pi enough. This place, kind of blew me away. Not only was the pizza melt in your mouth, crispy, crunchy amazing, like probably list of all-time pizza I've ever tasted, but the booth itself you could just went above and beyond with the decor and the record player And the fake plants that you know they don't have to take with them when they go from event to event, but their quality and eye for detail is unsurpassed. Then they were just the coolest guys ever, super nice, we got there, technically after the event ended, and they were starting to break down, but they still fired up their stoves and cooked us the last pizza of the day. Who else would do that? They really care about what they do in every way, and it shows not just in the taste and the presentation but the personality and responsiveness and how they treat people, it literally couldn't have been a better experience. read more

I chose 2 stars because the description was "coulda been better" --and that matches our experience of HIFI at the Bellwether music venue. I love the venue, all good, but the HIFI Pizza experience for dinner was a horrible! At first, I thought: great, you order online from your table, easy peasy. After waiting and waiting, and the show coming up, I went to the counter to ask about our dinner. The staff (who were completely overwhelmed) said I don't know what happened to your order. Then left me. I thought: well, that's not an appropriate answer. So when someone popped out again, I said he needs to tell me what's going on. So then, they investigated and discovered my order was canceled because they ran out of our style of pizza. I didn't get a text, an email, and I wasn't called out by the staff who had my order number. Having not eaten, and the show about to start, I asked if he could just make us any kind of pizza? He said I'd have to order from scratch again. I told him that was ridiculous! I'd been waiting an hour already. He just walked away and said they were too busy. So I ordered again. While waiting, people were standing there confused about their order, no one was at front of house to help, or answer questions. And when a staff member did pop out, they were clearly overwhelmed and not nice. I should have at least received a free pizza or something! So disappointed. They need a front of house manager and to not run out of food, especially when you're planning to eat there and need food to endure the three hours you're spending at a concert that means a lot to you. read more

I spoke with the owner who taught me a couple things about about the art of fermentation not only for their sourdough pizza doughs but also a couple non alcoholic wines he let me sample. I was in charge of the food for the birthday (basically my only responsibility) and found Hi Fi Pizza Pi on Yelp. I called several other vendors as well and found Hi Fi Pizza Pi to have similar prices to others. From the first call, Brady was very professional and organized. He gave me a rough estimate over the phone, and then a bit later emailed me an official quote. Leading up the event he was responsive, communicated well, and helpful in adapting to our requests (annoying dietary restrictions). On the actual event, he arrived early, managed everything himself and was very sufficient. He got everything ready in time and we agreed to start serving guests early since guests arrived early. I was pretty busy throughout the party, but I had a lot of people tell me during the party that not only was the food great, but Brady was cool and his set up was legit. Brady had a great vibe for the party, is very professional, and food was really great. I'm lactose intolerant unfortunately, but he brought vegan cheese and it was actually still really good on the pizza. I had several guests ask me for his information and take his card at the end of the event.
