My car's splash shield had ripped off when I was driving home. There were a series of crunching sounds and, then, a sudden whoosh, dragging sound under my car. When I got home, I looked under the car and saw a fairly large lump hanging underneath in the front, center of it. I had no idea what it was or the implications of what had happened. I called Hi-Tech and even though Very Busy, Don made time for me to bring in my car. He clearly explained my situation and then, to my total surprise, said replacing the piece that had torn off was not necessary. This repair shop cost me $$$$! I had a 110,000 mile maintenance on my Honda last April (2020). However, as I was leaving the parking lot, my check engine light and multiple lights went on. I went back inside and talked with Craig, the owner. He drove the car, reset the light sensors, told me not to worry about it, and sent me on my way . However, 2 weeks later, all of the dash lights went back on. I took the honda crv back to the auto shop and they told me that it would cost $1700 to replace the loose timing chain. I informed the owner that I had no problems with the vehicle prior to the service and was disappointed that now the vehicle was having problems now. He said it was a coincidence. I got a second opinion from the dealership and they quoted me $1,000 to fix the vehicle. I don't trust this auto shop.. This is a little Polish family run joint recommended by my bf's coworkers. They only take foreign cars...so, Jeeps and Dodges, sorry! My Honda CR-V was in much need of a tune up as I had my maintenance light on and another light in the shape of an engine. I also needed an alignment, well according to Midas, and my brakes were sqeaking. I just really wanted to find a trustable place that will tell me what's really wrong with my car. So I called to make an appointment (which is highly recommended for larger jobs, otherwise you can wait for an oil change). The lady who answered was somewhat abrasive and told me straight up alignment wasn't needed. "But Midas told me.." "NO, you don't need! Plus we don't do that here" Well...okay I was unsure about this place. Anyway, I still went. She told me to be there at 7:30am on the dot or I'd miss my spot. Since this was just to see what I needed done, I couldn't make a definite appointment. She was right when she said they were busy. I got there pretty much at 7:30am on a Friday morning and there was already someone in front of me and then someone came in shortly after me. I decided to wait while they changed the oil and checked the car. There's not much space but there was a leather 2 seater couch. I usually like to wait so seating is important to me. As I waited, the owner lady went on about how the mainstream chains rip customers off b/c they just want your money while using cheap auto parts and how she's been in the business for a long time, pay their employees more money, and really take care of their customers. I believed her b/c everyone who came in, she knew their name and what was wrong with their car previously. I like that individual attention. If you can't stand the rant, just zone her out b/c I think they know what they're doing. Anyway long story short (thanks for reading, if you made it this far), they fixed what was wrong with my car (broken sensor, old brakes, need new tires), told me my alignment was fine, and even recommended some cheap ways to upkeep my car too. The oil change was more expensive than the mainstream places, so I think the way to go is get the oil change at the cheaper places and when they say something needs fixing (that is major) take it here and they'll really tell you what's wrong. I called around for a lift gate problem on my Lexus. The dealership said I was looking at $1200-$4200 for the problem. Craig got me in the next day for diagnosing and the following morning for the quick repair at $450 and an oil change. He pointed out a potential problem that could cause engine failure which he'll fix when I'm back in town. Just the kind of mechanic you want. He reminded me to get my tires rotated. I want to let everyone know that this place is not owned by the same people anymore. My significant other and his family went here for years and loved the old owners- the shop was reliable and honest. However, it switched hands but kept the same name. The new owner is not as honest. I came in with a very basic issue- my door didn't open from the inside (but it did open from the outside!). A colleague's husband used to do my car repairs (but they moved out of state) but I called him to check. The new owner tried to tell me that I needed to replace the entire door latch ($450). However, that seemed fishy- I was told by my friend that if this was the case the outside door handle wouldn't work either. I took it to another mechanic (Ralph's Foothills Service) and they fixed it for under $100! The mechanic I spoke to at Hi-Tech also tried to nail me for a lot of add ons (for instance, putting some cheap windshield wash in my car). When I told them that I hadn't asked for it, he got frustrated and said they would just pour it out! Overall, Hi-Tech quoted me with $856 in necessary work. When I took it to Ralph's, they checked everything Hi-Tech quoted and took care of the issues they saw for only $286.46! I want everyone to know this so that you don't get scammed. read more

My father in law has been taking his car here for years and my husband before that! We knew the original owners and they were wonderful but the new owners are just as great! They are always great on squeezing me in last minute when I call in with no upfront notice. I am always thoroughly educated everytime I come in here and they are very sincere in what I do and do not need. I recently heard weird noises coming from my car and I was certain that it was transmission related and costly but they were able to quickly identify the problem and even absorbed the cost for a part they had chipped in the process of fixing my car and gave me a brand new part. They easily diagnosed my car and are able to repair it at a fraction of what the dealers quote! I will be back anytime my car needs some repair. read more

I have taken my car to them several times. They have always been nice and clear with what was important and what could wait on my older Subaru. 13 months ago they replaced my left front axle. I brought my car to them this week complaining of a clicking noise when I turned. It turned out the axle they had replaced had started to fail. Despite having a 12 month warranty on the part they replaced it for free, eating the cost of a bad part from a supplier they no longer use. I had a situation when a mistake was made where the custom rims on a Lexis 330 were not centered correctly by a tire shop. This caused the car to become undriveable. I was fortunately near the shop. I parked the car at the shop, called about the situation and left a message. They fixed the issue with the car. Sent pictures and relayed information to the tire shop, resulting in restitution of damage. They were professional,caring, punctual, polite. The shop is on the other side of the city. So thankful they were recommended to me. My 02 Altima had a lot of work done at Firestone in FL before being driven to CO last summer. The brakes were replaced, the alternator was replaced along with the battery, the A/C was tuned up and many belts were replaced. Of course this all cost $$$$$. Everything that had been "done" had needed to be redone. I have found them to be totally honest and fair with all the work. They tell you what you really need to have done and do it at a fair price with the proper parts. Although they get very busy, it is well worth the time to have them fix your car right! read more

I have gone to these guys (and gal) for years, with my Mazda 323, my Toyota Tercel, and my 2 Honda Accords. I've moved several times in those years, and tried other mechanics that were closer to my home, but I just don't trust anyone like I trust Hi-Tech. They do great service, they really know the models they work on, and they are honest with you about service that does not *need* to be done. Example: I got a coupon in the mail, and took my Accord over to the Honda dealer for a cheap oil change. The dealership changed the oil, and gave me a list of urgent maintenance that needed to be done that would total about 800 dollars. I called up Hi-Tech and went through the itemized list of "necessary maintenance" and asked how much they would charge for each thing. Their grand total if I had done all that would have been $220. I like the idea of saving $580! Then I told them that it was the dealership that had said I needed all these things done, and Mary, on the phone, told me no, I didn't need to bring it in for another 5,000 miles, that the dealership was trying me to get things done now that only needed to be done every 30K miles on the car. Another example: on my old Mazda, the brakes were squeaking and felt a little soft, so I took it in, fearing an expensive brake replacement. Hi-Tech did a much cheaper brake adjustment instead of replacing the brakes, and told me about how long it should be before I would have to replace them, so I could plan financially for that. A third example: When my last Honda was on its last legs (if you can say that about the car), I took it in because it just didn't feel like it had much power, and a compression test showed me it was too low on some cylinders and uneven across the four cylinders. Hi-Tech were honest with me about the fact that this was probably not something that could be fixed without basically replacing the engine - very expensive. They did a very thorough cleaning, which improved the compression as much as possible without doing that, and they advised me to either sell the car, or drive it till it quit, but they didn't pretend they could fix something they couldn't. They said my money would be better spent on a newer used car than on replacing this on an old car. I really recommend them. I'm writing this review in 2010, and the couple who are running this are getting older. They won't be in business forever. I don't know what preparation they are making for when they retire, but I hope they are training honest, competent younger mechanics to take over for them, to keep the business running in the same way, providing great value. read more

Bad customer service. My first time with my car here I called the day before spoke to Mary the owners wife I wanted to set up a transmission flush, she recommended a flush and fill. The shop didn't have the fluid so I made arrangements and got the fluids myself. I showed up right at open. Mary asked if I was dropping of the vehicle I told her ya but someone wasn't picking me up for a bit; she had to of miss understood me and thought I would be waiting all day there and she tells me "then I can't do it" she even told me to "go somewhere else". I understood there were people a head of me however to tell a new customer to go somewhere else but after making arrangements I shouldn't have to be pushy or told "go somewhere else" I gave her an ear full about customer service and how to teat people informing her that this place was recommended by my parents, is this how she treats them? I've worked her position as a automotive service sales rep. literally her job and position before She told me she has done that job for 20+years and she didn't care to learn anything from me after I told her how her service wasn't meeting my expectations. The work was good (not much to mess up on a flush and fill vs. a flush; some fluids are still left behind) however VERY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE by the owners wife!! read more
